14:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν Ἰκονίῳ κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ εἰσελθεῖν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν τῶν Ἰουδαίων καὶ λαλῆσαι οὕτως ὥστε πιστεῦσαι Ἰουδαίων τε καὶ Ἑλλήνων πολὺ πλῆθος .
Factum est autem Iconii , ut simul introirent in synagogam Judaeorum , et loquerentur , ita ut crederet Judaeorum et Graecorum copiosa multitudo .
ወበሀገረ ኢቆንዮን ቦኡ ምኵራበ አይሁድ ወአረሚ ወነገሩ ዘከመ ይነግሩ ዘልፈ እስከ አምኑ ብዙኃን ጥቀ እምአይሁድ ወእምአረሚኒ ።
In Iconium, they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed.
14:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ ἀπειθήσαντες Ἰουδαῖοι ἐπήγειραν καὶ ἐκάκωσαν τὰς ψυχὰς τῶν ἐθνῶν κατὰ τῶν ἀδελφῶν .
Qui vero increduli fuerunt Judaei , suscitaverunt et ad iracundiam concitaverunt animas gentium adversus fratres .
ወቢጸ አይሁድ እለ አበዩ ተበአሱ ምስለ አሕዛብ ወምስለ ሐዋርያት ወአጽዐርዋ ለነፍሶሙ ።
But the disbelieving Jews stirred up and embittered the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers.
14:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἱκανὸν μὲν οὖν χρόνον διέτριψαν παρρησιαζόμενοι ἐπὶ τῷ κυρίῳ τῷ μαρτυροῦντι ἐπὶ τῷ λόγῳ τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ , διδόντος σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα γίνεσθαι διὰ τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν .
Multo igitur tempore demorati sunt , fiducialiter agentes in Domino , testimonium perhibente verbo gratiae suae , dante signa et prodigia fieri per manus eorum .
ወነበሩ ጕንዱየ መዋዕለ እንዘ ይነግሩ በስሙ ለእግዚእነ እንዘ ውእቱ ያርኢ ሰማዕተ ቃለ ጸጋሁ ወይገብር ተኣምረ ወመንክረ በእደዊሆሙ ።
Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who testified to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
14:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐσχίσθη δὲ τὸ πλῆθος τῆς πόλεως , καὶ οἱ μὲν ἦσαν σὺν τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις οἱ δὲ σὺν τοῖς ἀποστόλοις .
Divisa est autem multitudo civitatis : et quidam quidem erant cum Judaeis , quidam vero cum Apostolis .
ወተናፈቁ ኵሉ ሀገር መንፈቆሙ መንገለ አይሁድ ወቦ እለሂ ኀበ ሐዋርያት ።
But the multitude of the city was divided. Part sided with the Jews and part with the apostles.
14:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς δὲ ἐγένετο ὁρμὴ τῶν ἐθνῶν τε καὶ Ἰουδαίων σὺν τοῖς ἄρχουσιν αὐτῶν ὑβρίσαι καὶ λιθοβολῆσαι αὐτούς ,
Cum autem factus esset impetus gentilium et Judaeorum cum principibus suis , ut contumeliis afficerent , et lapidarent eos ,
ወተበአሱ አይሁድ ወአረሚ ምስለ መላእክቲሆሙ ወአኀዙ ይጻዐሉ ወይትዋገሩ ።
When some of both the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers, made a violent attempt to mistreat and stone them,
14:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ συνιδόντες κατέφυγον εἰς τὰς πόλεις τῆς Λυκαονίας Λύστραν καὶ Δέρβην καὶ τὴν περίχωρον ,
intelligentes confugerunt ad civitates Lycaoniae Lystram et Derben , et universam in circuitu regionem , et ibi evangelizantes erant .
ወርእዮሙ ሐዋርያት ጐዩ ውስተ አህጉረ ሊቃኦንያ ወልስጥራን ወደርቤን ወውስተ አድያም ።
they became aware of it and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region.
14:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ κἀκεῖ εὐαγγελιζόμενοι ἦσαν .
Et quidam vir Lystris infirmus pedibus sedebat , claudus ex utero matris suae , qui numquam ambulaverat .
ወመሀሩ በህየ ።
There they preached the Good News.
14:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καί τις ἀνὴρ ἐν Λύστροις ἀδύνατος τοῖς ποσὶν ἐκάθητο , χωλὸς ἐκ κοιλίας μητρὸς αὐτοῦ , ὃς οὐδέποτε περιεπάτησεν .
Hic audivit Paulum loquentem . Qui intuitus eum , et videns quia fidem haberet ut salvus fieret ,
ወሀሎ አሐዱ ብእሲ በሀገረ ልስጥራን ዘፅዉስ እገሪሁ እምከርሠ እሙ ወዳእሙ ይነብር ግሙራ ወእምአመ ኮነ ኢሖረ ።
At Lystra a certain man sat, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked.
14:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὗτος ἤκουσεν τοῦ Παύλου λαλοῦντος , ὃς ἀτενίσας αὐτῷ καὶ ἰδὼν ὅτι ἔχει πίστιν τοῦ σωθῆναι ,
dixit magna voce : Surge super pedes tuos rectus . Et exilivit , et ambulabat .
ወሰምዖ ለጳውሎስ እንዘ ይነግር ወነጸሮ ጳውሎስ ወርእዮ ከመ ቦ ሃይማኖት ወየሐዩ ።
He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,
14:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν μεγάλῃ φωνῇ · ἀνάστηθι ἐπὶ τοὺς πόδας σου ὀρθός . καὶ ἥλατο καὶ περιεπάτει .
Turbae autem cum vidissent quod fecerat Paulus , levaverunt vocem suam lycaonice , dicentes : Dii similes facti hominibus descenderunt ad nos .
ወይቤሎ በዐቢይ ቃል ለከ እብለከ በስሙ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ተንሥእ ወቁም በእገሪከ ርቱዐ ወሶቤሃ ተንሥአ ወሖረ ።
said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” He leaped up and walked.
14:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἵ τε ὄχλοι ἰδόντες ὃ ἐποίησεν Παῦλος ἐπῆραν τὴν φωνὴν αὐτῶν Λυκαονιστὶ λέγοντες , οἱ θεοὶ ὁμοιωθέντες ἀνθρώποις κατέβησαν πρὸς ἡμᾶς ·
Et vocabant Barnabam Jovem , Paulum vero Mercurium : quoniam ipse erat dux verbi .
ወርእዮሙ አሕዛብ ዘገብረ ጳውሎስ ከልሑ በነገረ ሊቃኦንያ ወይቤሉ አማልክት ተመሰሉ ሰብአ ወወረዱ ኀቤነ ።
When the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the language of Lycaonia, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”
14:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐκάλουν τε τὸν Βαρναβᾶν Δία , τὸν δὲ Παῦλον Ἑρμῆν , ἐπειδὴ αὐτὸς ἦν ὁ ἡγούμενος τοῦ λόγου .
Sacerdos quoque Jovis , qui erat ante civitatem , tauros et coronas ante januas afferens , cum populis volebat sacrificare .
ወሰመይዎ ለበርናባስ ድያ ወለጳውሎስ ሄርሜን እስመ ውእቱ ሊቀ ትምህርቱ ።
They called Barnabas “Jupiter”, and Paul “Mercury”, because he was the chief speaker.
14:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅ τε ἱερεὺς τοῦ Διὸς τοῦ ὄντος πρὸ τῆς πόλεως ταύρους καὶ στέμματα ἐπὶ τοὺς πυλῶνας ἐνέγκας σὺν τοῖς ὄχλοις ἤθελεν θύειν .
Quod ubi audierunt Apostoli , Barnabas et Paulus , conscissis tunicis suis exilierunt in turbas , clamantes
ወአምጽኡ ማሬ ዘድዮስ ዘሀሎ ቅድመ ሀገር ምስለ አልሕምት ወመሣውዕ ኀበ አንቀጸ ዐጸደ ማኅደሮሙ ምስለ ሕዘቢሆሙ ወፈቀዱ ከመ ይሡዑ ሎሙ ።
The priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have made a sacrifice along with the multitudes.
14:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀκούσαντες δὲ οἱ ἀπόστολοι Βαρναβᾶς καὶ Παῦλος , διαρρήξαντες τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν ἐξεπήδησαν εἰς τὸν ὄχλον , κράζοντες
et dicentes : Viri , quid haec facitis ? et nos mortales sumus , similes vobis homines , annuntiantes vobis ab his vanis converti ad Deum vivum , qui fecit caelum , et terram , et mare , et omnia quae in eis sunt :
ወሰሚዖሙ ሐዋርያት በርናባስ ፥ ወጳውሎስ ሰጠጡ አልባሲሆሙ ወሖሩ ኀበ አሕዛብ ወከልሑ ሎሙ ።
But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they tore their clothes and sprang into the multitude, crying out,
14:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ λέγοντες , ἄνδρες , τί ταῦτα ποιεῖτε ; καὶ ἡμεῖς ὁμοιοπαθεῖς ἐσμεν ὑμῖν ἄνθρωποι , εὐαγγελιζόμενοι ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ τούτων τῶν ματαίων ἐπιστρέφειν ἐπὶ θεὸν ζῶντα ὃς ἐποίησεν τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐν αὐτοῖς ·
qui in praeteritis generationibus dimisit omnes gentes ingredi vias suas .
ወይቤልዎሙ አንትሙ ሰብእ ምንትኑ ዝ ነገር አኮኑ ከማክሙ ሰብእ ንሕነ ዘንመውት ወንሜህረክሙ ከመ ትኅድጉ ዘንተ ከንቶ ወትትመየጡ ኀበ እግዚአብሔር ሕያው ዘገብረ ሰማየ ወምድረ ወባሕረ ወኵሎ ዘውስቴቶሙ ።
“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of the same nature as you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them;
14:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὃς ἐν ταῖς παρῳχημέναις γενεαῖς εἴασεν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη πορεύεσθαι ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτῶν ·
Et quidem non sine testimonio semetipsum reliquit benefaciens de caelo , dans pluvias et tempora fructifera , implens cibo et laetitia corda nostra .
ወኀደጎሙ ለኵሎሙ አሕዛብ ይሑሩ በግዕዞሙ በዘቀዲሙ መዋዕል ።
who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.
14:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ καίτοι οὐκ ἀμάρτυρον αὐτὸν ἀφῆκεν ἀγαθουργῶν , οὐρανόθεν ὑμῖν ὑετοὺς διδοὺς καὶ καιροὺς καρποφόρους , ἐμπιπλῶν τροφῆς καὶ εὐφροσύνης τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν .
Et haec dicentes , vix sedaverunt turbas ne sibi immolarent .
እንዘ ኢየኀድግ ርእሶ ዘእንበለ ሰማዕት ወይገብር ሠናይቶ ወይሁብ እምሰማይ ዝናመ ወያከርም በበዓመት ወያፈሪ ወያሠምር ከመ ያጽግበነ ወያስተፍሥሕ ልበነ ።
Yet he didn’t leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”
14:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ταῦτα λέγοντες μόλις κατέπαυσαν τοὺς ὄχλους τοῦ μὴ θύειν αὐτοῖς .
Supervenerunt autem quidam ab Antiochia et Iconio Judaei : et persuasis turbis , lapidantesque Paulum , traxerunt extra civitatem , existimantes eum mortuum esse .
ወዘንተ ብሂሎሙ በዕፁብ አኅደግዎሙ ለአሕዛብ ኢይሡዑ ሎሙ ።
Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the multitudes from making a sacrifice to them.
14:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐπῆλθαν δὲ ἀπὸ Ἀντιοχείας καὶ Ἰκονίου Ἰουδαῖοι , καὶ πείσαντες τοὺς ὄχλους καὶ λιθάσαντες τὸν Παῦλον ἔσυρον ἔξω τῆς πόλεως , νομίζοντες αὐτὸν τεθνηκέναι .
Circumdantibus autem eum discipulis , surgens intravit civitatem , et postera die profectus est cum Barnaba in Derben .
ወእንዘ እሙንቱ ይሜህሩ በህየ መጽኡ አይሁድ እምአንጾኪያ ወኢቆንያ ወየውህዎሙ ለአሕዛብ ከመ ያሕሥሙ ልቦሙ ላዕሌሆሙ ወወገርዎ ለጳውሎስ ወሰሐብዎ ወአውፅእዎ አፍኣ እምሀገር ወመሰሎሙ ዘሞተ ።
But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.
14:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ κυκλωσάντων δὲ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτὸν ἀναστὰς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν . καὶ τῇ ἐπαύριον ἐξῆλθεν σὺν τῷ Βαρναβᾷ εἰς Δέρβην .
Cumque evangelizassent civitati illi , et docuissent multos , reversi sunt Lystram , et Iconium , et Antiochiam ,
ወዖድዎ አርዳኢሁ ወተንሥአ ወቦአ ምስሌሆሙ ሀገረ ወበሳኒታ ሖረ ምስለ በርናባስ ሀገረ ደርቤን ።
But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.
14:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ εὐαγγελιζόμενοί τε τὴν πόλιν ἐκείνην καὶ μαθητεύσαντες ἱκανοὺς ὑπέστρεψαν εἰς τὴν Λύστραν καὶ εἰς Ἰκόνιον καὶ εἰς Ἀντιόχειαν ,
confirmantes animas discipulorum , exhortantesque ut permanerent in fide : et quoniam per multas tribulationes oportet nos intrare in regnum Dei .
ወመሀሩ በይእቲ ሀገር ወአብኡ ብዙኃነ ወገብኡ ሀገረ ልስጥራን ወኢቆንዮን ወአንጾኪያ ።
When they had preached the Good News to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,
14:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐπιστηρίζοντες τὰς ψυχὰς τῶν μαθητῶν , παρακαλοῦντες ἐμμένειν τῇ πίστει , καὶ ὅτι διὰ πολλῶν θλίψεων δεῖ ἡμᾶς εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ .
Et cum constituissent illis per singulas ecclesias presbyteros , et orassent cum jejunationibus , commendaverunt eos Domino , in quem crediderunt .
ወአጽንዕዎሙ ነፍሶሙ ለሕዝብ ወመሀርዎሙ ያጥብዑ በሃይማኖት እስመ በብዙኅ ሕማም ሀለወነ ንባኣ ለመንግሥተ እግዚአብሔር ።
strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into God’s Kingdom.
14:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ χειροτονήσαντες δὲ αὐτοῖς κατ’ ἐκκλησίαν πρεσβυτέρους προσευξάμενοι μετὰ νηστειῶν παρέθεντο αὐτοὺς τῷ κυρίῳ εἰς ὃν πεπιστεύκεισαν .
Transeuntesque Pisidiam , venerunt in Pamphyliam ,
ወሤሙ ቀሲሳነ ላዕለ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ወጸለዩ ወጾሙ ወአማሕፀንዎሙ ለእግዚአብሔር ዘኪያሁ ተአመኑ ።
When they had appointed elders for them in every assembly, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord on whom they had believed.
14:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ διελθόντες τὴν Πισιδίαν ἦλθον εἰς τὴν Παμφυλίαν ,
et loquentes verbum Domini in Perge , descenderunt in Attaliam :
ወኀሊፎሙ እምጲስድያ በጽሑ ጵንፍልያ ።
They passed through Pisidia and came to Pamphylia.
14:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ λαλήσαντες εἰς τὴν Πέργην τὸν λόγον κατέβησαν εἰς Ἀτταλίαν .
et inde navigaverunt Antiochiam , unde erant traditi gratiae Dei in opus quod compleverunt .
ወነገሩ ቃሎሙ በሀገረ ጴርጌን ወወረዱ ኢጣልያ ።
When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
14:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ κἀκεῖθεν ἀπέπλευσαν εἰς Ἀντιόχειαν , ὅθεν ἦσαν παραδεδομένοι τῇ χάριτι τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς τὸ ἔργον ὃ ἐπλήρωσαν .
Cum autem venissent , et congregassent ecclesiam , retulerunt quanta fecisset Deus cum illis , et quia aperuisset gentibus ostium fidei .
ወእምህየ ነገዱ አንጾኪያ በኀበ ተውህበ ሎሙ ጸጋ እግዚአብሔር በእንተ ግብር ዘይገብሩ ።
From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.
14:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ παραγενόμενοι δὲ καὶ συναγαγόντες τὴν ἐκκλησίαν ἀνήγγελλον ὅσα ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς μετ’ αὐτῶν καὶ ὅτι ἤνοιξεν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν θύραν πίστεως .
Morati sunt autem tempus non modicum cum discipulis .
ወበጺሖሙ አስተጋብኡ ኵሎ ሕዝበ ወነገሩ ኵሎ ዘገብረ ሎሙ እግዚአብሔር ወዘከመ አርኀወ ሎሙ እግዚአብሔር አናቅጸ ሃይማኖት ለአሕዛብ ።
When they had arrived and had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.
14:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ διέτριβον δὲ χρόνον οὐκ ὀλίγον σὺν τοῖς μαθηταῖς .
— ወነበሩ ጕንዱየ መዋዕለ ምስለ አርድእት ።
They stayed there with the disciples for a long time.
