19:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ τὸν Ἀπολλῶ εἶναι ἐν Κορίνθῳ Παῦλον διελθόντα τὰ ἀνωτερικὰ μέρη κατελθεῖν εἰς Ἔφεσον καὶ εὑρεῖν τινας μαθητάς ,
Factum est autem cum Apollo esset Corinthi , ut Paulus peragratis superioribus partibus veniret Ephesum , et inveniret quosdam discipulos :
ወእምዝ እንዘ አጵሎስ ሀሎ ቆሮንቶስ ኀለፈ ጳውሎስ እንተ ላዕላይ ደወል ወበጽሐ ኤፌሶን ወረከበ በህየ ኅዳጣነ አርድእተ ።
While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus and found certain disciples.
19:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπέν τε πρὸς αὐτούς , εἰ πνεῦμα ἅγιον ἐλάβετε πιστεύσαντες ; οἱ δὲ πρὸς αὐτόν , ἀλλ’ οὐδ’ εἰ πνεῦμα ἅγιον ἔστιν ἠκούσαμεν .
dixitque ad eos : Si Spiritum Sanctum accepistis credentes ? At illi dixerunt ad eum : Sed neque si Spiritus Sanctus est , audivimus .
ወይቤሎሙ ቦኑ ዘነሣእክሙ መንፈሰ ቅዱሰ እምዘ አመንክሙ ወይቤልዎ ኢሰማዕናሁ ጥቀ ከመ ቦ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ።
He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
19:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ εἶπέν · εἰς τί οὖν ἐβαπτίσθητε ; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν , εἰς τὸ Ἰωάννου βάπτισμα .
Ille vero ait : In quo ergo baptizati estis ? Qui dixerunt : In Joannis baptismate .
ወይቤሎሙ በምንትኑ እንከ ተጠመቅሙ ወይቤልዎ በጥምቀተ ዮሐንስ ።
He said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.”
19:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν δὲ Παῦλος · Ἰωάννης ἐβάπτισεν βάπτισμα μετανοίας , τῷ λαῷ λέγων εἰς τὸν ἐρχόμενον μετ’ αὐτὸν ἵνα πιστεύσωσιν , τοῦτ’ ἔστιν εἰς τὸν Ἰησοῦν .
Dixit autem Paulus : Joannes baptizavit baptismo poenitentiae populum , dicens in eum qui venturus esset post ipsum ut crederent , hoc est , in Jesum .
ወይቤሎሙ ጳውሎስ ዮሐንስ አጥመቀ በጥምቀተ ንስሓ እንዘ ይሰብክ ከመ ይእመኑ በዘይመጽእ እምድኅሬሁ ዘውእቱ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ።
Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.”
19:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀκούσαντες δὲ ἐβαπτίσθησαν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ ,
His auditis , baptizati sunt in nomine Domini Jesu .
ወሰሚዖሙ ተጠምቁ በስሙ ለእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ።
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
19:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐπιθέντος αὐτοῖς τοῦ Παύλου χεῖρας ἦλθε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον ἐπ’ αὐτούς , ἐλάλουν τε γλώσσαις καὶ ἐπροφήτευον .
Et cum imposuisset illis manus Paulus , venit Spiritus Sanctus super eos , et loquebantur linguis , et prophetabant .
ወወደየ እዴሁ ጳውሎስ ዲቤሆሙ ወወረደ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ላዕሌሆሙ ወነበቡ በነገረ ኵሉ በሐውርት ፥ ወተነበዩ ።
When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.
19:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἦσαν δὲ οἱ πάντες ἄνδρες ὡσεὶ δώδεκα .
Erant autem omnes viri fere duodecim .
ወየአክሉ ኵሎሙ ዐሠርተ ወክልኤተ ዕደወ ።
They were about twelve men in all.
19:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ Εἰσελθὼν δὲ εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν ἐπαρρησιάζετο ἐπὶ μῆνας τρεῖς διαλεγόμενος καὶ πείθων τὰ περὶ τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ .
Introgressus autem synagogam , cum fiducia loquebatur per tres menses , disputans et suadens de regno Dei .
ወቦአ ጳውሎስ ምኵራበ ወነገረ ገሃደ ወነበረ ሠለስተ አውራኀ ይትዋቀሦሙ ወያአምኖሙ በእንተ መንግሥተ እግዚአብሔር ።
He entered into the synagogue and spoke boldly for a period of three months, reasoning and persuading about the things concerning God’s Kingdom.
19:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς δέ τινες ἐσκληρύνοντο καὶ ἠπείθουν κακολογοῦντες τὴν ὁδὸν ἐνώπιον τοῦ πλήθους , ἀποστὰς ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ἀφώρισεν τοὺς μαθητάς , καθ’ ἡμέραν διαλεγόμενος ἐν τῇ σχολῇ Τυράννου .
Cum autem quidam indurarentur , et non crederent , maledicentes viam Domini coram multitudine , discedens ab eis , segregavit discipulos , quotidie disputans in schola tyranni cujusdam .
ወቦ እለ ክሕዱ ወተንሥኡ ወአሕሠሙ ዲበ ትምህርት ዘእግዚአብሔር በቅድመ ጉባኤ አሕዛብ ወኀደጎሙ ጳውሎስ ወነሥኦሙ ለአርድእት ወኵሎ አሚረ ይነግሮሙ በቤቱ ለመምህር ብእሲ ዘስሙ ጢራኖስ ወበ ምኵናነ መላእክት ።
But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.
19:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο δὲ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ ἔτη δύο , ὥστε πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν Ἀσίαν ἀκοῦσαι τὸν λόγον τοῦ κυρίου , Ἰουδαίους τε καὶ Ἕλληνας .
Hoc autem factum est per biennium , ita ut omnes qui habitabant in Asia audirent verbum Domini , Judaei atque gentiles .
ወጐንደየ ከመዝ ክልኤ ዓመተ እስከ ሰምዑ ኵሎሙ እለ ይነብሩ እስያ ቃለ እግዚአብሔር አይሁድ ወአረሚ ።
This continued for two years, so that all those who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
19:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ Δυνάμεις τε οὐ τὰς τυχούσας ὁ θεὸς ἐποίει διὰ τῶν χειρῶν Παύλου ,
Virtutesque non quaslibet faciebat Deus per manum Pauli ,
ወዐቢየ ኀይለ ይገብር እግዚአብሔር በእደዊሁ ለጳውሎስ ።
God worked special miracles by the hands of Paul,
19:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὥστε καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀσθενοῦντας ἀποφέρεσθαι ἀπὸ τοῦ χρωτὸς αὐτοῦ σουδάρια ἢ σιμικίνθια καὶ ἀπαλλάσσεσθαι ἀπ’ αὐτῶν τὰς νόσους , τά τε πνεύματα τὰ πονηρὰ ἐκπορεύεσθαι .
ita ut etiam super languidos deferrentur a corpore ejus sudaria et semicinctia , et recedebant ab eis languores , et spiritus nequam egrediebantur .
ወይወስዱ እምጽንፈ ልብሱ ወሰበኑ መቲሮሙ ወያነብሩ ዲበ ድዉያን ወየሐይዉ ወአጋንንት እኩያን ይወፅኡ ።
so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out.
19:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐπεχείρησαν δέ τινες καὶ τῶν περιερχομένων Ἰουδαίων ἐξορκιστῶν ὀνομάζειν ἐπὶ τοὺς ἔχοντας τὰ πνεύματα τὰ πονηρὰ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ λέγοντες , ὁρκίζω ὑμᾶς τὸν Ἰησοῦν ὃν Παῦλος κηρύσσει .
Tentaverunt autem quidam et de circumeuntibus Judaeis exorcistis invocare super eos qui habebant spiritus malos nomen Domini Jesu , dicentes : Adjuro vos per Jesum , quem Paulus praedicat .
ወቦ እለ አኀዙ እምአይሁድ ይዑዱ ወይርቅዩ ወይጼውዑ ሎሙ ለአጋንንት እኩያን በስመ እግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ወይቤልዎሙ ናምሕለክሙ በስሙ ለኢየሱስ ዘጳውሎስ ይሜህር በስሙ ።
But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”
19:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἦσαν δέ τινες Σκευᾶ Ἰουδαίου ἀρχιερέως ἑπτὰ υἱοὶ τοῦτο ποιοῦντες .
Erant autem quidam Judaei , Scevae principis sacerdotum septem filii , qui hoc faciebant .
ወእሉ እለ ከመዝ ይገብሩ አይሁድ እሙንቱ ደቂቀ ሊቀ ካህናት ዘስሙ አስቄዋ ወሰብዐቱ እሙንቱ ።
There were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.
19:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀποκριθὲν δὲ τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ πονηρὸν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς , τὸν Ἰησοῦν γινώσκω καὶ τὸν Παῦλον ἐπίσταμαι , ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνες ἐστέ ;
Respondens autem spiritus nequam dixit eis : Jesum novi , et Paulum scio : vos autem qui estis ?
ወተሰጥዎሙ ውእቱ ጋኔን እኩይ ወይቤሎሙ በኢየሱስኒ አአምን ወለጳውሎስኒ አአምሮ አንትሙኬ እንከ መኑ አንትሙ ።
The evil spirit answered, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”
19:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐφαλόμενος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ἐν ᾧ ἦν τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ πονηρὸν κατακυριεύσας ἀμφοτέρων ἴσχυσεν κατ’ αὐτῶν , ὥστε γυμνοὺς καὶ τετραυματισμένους ἐκφυγεῖν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου ἐκείνου .
Et insiliens in eos homo , in quo erat daemonium pessimum , et dominatus amborum , invaluit contra eos , ita ut nudi et vulnerati effugerent de domo illa .
ወአብደ ላዕሌሆሙ ውእቱ ዘጋኔን እኩይ ወኀየሎሙ ወሞኦሙ ወአቍሰሎሙ ወፈቅዖሙ ወሰደዶሙ እምውእቱ ቤት ።
The man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
19:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ τοῦτο δὲ ἐγένετο γνωστὸν πᾶσιν Ἰουδαίοις τε καὶ Ἕλλησιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν τὴν Ἔφεσον , καὶ ἐπέπεσεν φόβος ἐπὶ πάντας αὐτούς , καὶ ἐμεγαλύνετο τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ ,
Hoc autem notum factum est omnibus Judaeis , atque gentilibus qui habitabant Ephesi : et cecidit timor super omnes illos , et magnificabatur nomen Domini Jesu .
ወተሰምዐ ዝ ነገር በኀበ ኵሎሙ አይሁድ ወአረሚ እለ ይነብሩ ኤፌሶን ወፈርሁ ኵሎሙ ወአዕበዩ ስመ እግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ።
This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived at Ephesus. Fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
19:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ πολλοί τε τῶν πεπιστευκότων ἤρχοντο ἐξομολογούμενοι καὶ ἀναγγέλλοντες τὰς πράξεις αὐτῶν .
Multique credentium veniebant , confitentes et annuntiantes actus suos .
ወኵሎሙ እለ አምኑ ይመጽኡ ወይኔስሑ በእንተ ዘገብሩ ኀጢአተ ።
Many also of those who had believed came, confessing and declaring their deeds.
19:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἱκανοὶ δὲ τῶν τὰ περίεργα πραξάντων συνενέγκαντες τὰς βίβλους κατέκαιον ἐνώπιον πάντων · καὶ συνεψήφισαν τὰς τιμὰς αὐτῶν καὶ εὗρον ἀργυρίου μυριάδας πέντε .
Multi autem ex eis , qui fuerant curiosa sectati , contulerunt libros , et combusserunt coram omnibus : et computatis pretiis illorum , invenerunt pecuniam denariorum quinquaginta millium .
ወብዙኃን መሠርያን ያስተጋብኡ ወያመጽኡ ወያውዕዩ መጻሕፍቲሆሙ በቅድመ ኵሉ ሕዝብ ወሐሳበ ሤጡ ለዘአውዐዩ ኀምስቱ እልፍ ድርህመ ብሩር ።
Many of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. They counted their price, and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver.
19:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ Οὕτως κατὰ κράτος τοῦ κυρίου ὁ λόγος ηὔξανεν καὶ ἴσχυεν .
Ita fortiter crescebat verbum Dei , et confirmabatur .
ወከመዝ ጸንዐ ቃለ እግዚአብሔር ወዐብየ ወኀየለ ።
So the word of the Lord was growing and becoming mighty.
19:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ὡς δὲ ἐπληρώθη ταῦτα , ἔθετο ὁ Παῦλος ἐν τῷ πνεύματι διελθὼν τὴν Μακεδονίαν καὶ Ἀχαΐαν πορεύεσθαι εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα , εἰπὼν ὅτι μετὰ τὸ γενέσθαι με ἐκεῖ δεῖ με καὶ Ῥώμην ἰδεῖν .
His autem expletis , proposuit Paulus in Spiritu , transita Macedonia et Achaia , ire Jerosolymam , dicens : Quoniam postquam fuero ibi , oportet me et Romam videre .
ወእምዝ ተፈጺሞ ዝንቱ ኀለየ ጳውሎስ በመንፈሱ ይኅልፍ እንተ መቄዶንያ ወአካይያ ወይሑር ኢየሩሳሌም ወይቤ በጺሕየ ህየ ይደልወኒ እርአያ ለሮሜ ።
Now after these things had ended, Paul determined in the Spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”
19:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀποστείλας δὲ εἰς τὴν Μακεδονίαν δύο τῶν διακονούντων αὐτῷ , Τιμόθεον καὶ Ἔραστον , αὐτὸς ἐπέσχεν χρόνον εἰς τὴν Ἀσίαν .
Mittens autem in Macedoniam duos ex ministrantibus sibi , Timotheum et Erastum , ipse remansit ad tempus in Asia .
ወፈነወ ለመቄዶንያ ክልኤተ እም እለ ይትለአክዎ ጤሞቴዎስሃ ወአርስጦስሃ ወውእቱ ጳውሎስ ነበረ እስያ ብዙኀ መዋዕለ ።
Having sent into Macedonia two of those who served him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.
19:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐγένετο δὲ κατὰ τὸν καιρὸν ἐκεῖνον τάραχος οὐκ ὀλίγος περὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ .
Facta est autem illo tempore turbatio non minima de via Domini .
ወበውእቱ መዋዕል ዐቢይ ሁከት ኮነ በእንተዝ ትምህርት ላዕለ እለ አምኑ በእግዚእነ ።
About that time there arose no small disturbance concerning the Way.
19:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ Δημήτριος γάρ τις ὀνόματι , ἀργυροκόπος , ποιῶν ναοὺς ἀργυροῦς Ἀρτέμιδος παρείχετο τοῖς τεχνίταις οὐκ ὀλίγην ἐργασίαν ,
Demetrius enim quidam nomine , argentarius , faciens aedes argenteas Dianae , praestabat artificibus non modicum quaestum :
ወሀሎ ህየ አሐዱ ብእሲ ዘስሙ ድሜጥሮስ ነሃቤ ብሩር ወይገብር ሥዕላተ ወአምሳላተ ብሩር ጣዖተ ለአርጤምስ ወያስተጌብሮሙ ለኪነት ወይሁቦሙ ብዙኀ ንዋየ ወያረብኆሙ ።
For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen,
19:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὓς συναθροίσας καὶ τοὺς περὶ τὰ τοιαῦτα ἐργάτας εἶπεν , ἄνδρες , ἐπίστασθε ὅτι ἐκ ταύτης τῆς ἐργασίας ἡ εὐπορία ἡμῖν ἐστιν ,
quos convocans , et eos qui hujusmodi erant opifices , dixit : Viri , scitis quia de hoc artificio est nobis acquisitio :
ወአስተጋብኦሙ ለኵሉ ኪነት ወለእለ ይነብሩ ምስሌሆሙ ወአንገለጉ ወይቤሎሙ አንትሙ አኀዊነ ለሊክሙ ተአምሩ ከመ በዝ ተግባርነ ውእቱ ምርካብነ ።
whom he gathered together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, “Sirs, you know that by this business we have our wealth.
19:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ θεωρεῖτε καὶ ἀκούετε ὅτι οὐ μόνον Ἐφέσου ἀλλὰ σχεδὸν πάσης τῆς Ἀσίας ὁ Παῦλος οὗτος πείσας μετέστησεν ἱκανὸν ὄχλον , λέγων ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶν θεοὶ οἱ διὰ χειρῶν γινόμενοι .
et videtis et auditis quia non solum Ephesi , sed pene totius Asiae , Paulus hic suadens avertit multam turbam , dicens : Quoniam non sunt dii , qui manibus fiunt .
ወናሁ ዘከመ ትሬእዩ ወዘከመ ትሰምዑ አኮ ባሕቲቶ ኤፌሶን አላ ኵሎ እስያ አስሐተ ዝ ጳውሎስ ብዙኃነ አሕዛበ ወይቤሎሙ ኢኮኑ አማልክተ እለ በእደ ሰብእ ይትገበሩ ።
You see and hear that not at Ephesus alone, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods that are made with hands.
19:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐ μόνον δὲ τοῦτο κινδυνεύει ἡμῖν τὸ μέρος εἰς ἀπελεγμὸν ἐλθεῖν , ἀλλὰ καὶ τὸ τῆς μεγάλης θεᾶς ἱερὸν Ἀρτέμιδος εἰς οὐθὲν λογισθῆναι , μέλλειν τε καὶ καθαιρεῖσθαι τῆς μεγαλειότητος αὐτῆς , ἣν ὅλη ἡ Ἀσία καὶ ἡ οἰκουμένη σέβεται .
Non solum autem haec periclitabitur nobis pars in redargutionem venire , sed et magnae Dianae templum in nihilum reputabitur , sed et destrui incipiet majestas ejus , quam tota Asia et orbis colit .
ወዓዲ አኮ በዝ ባሕቲቱ ዘንትመነሶ ዓዲ ለምኵራበ አርጤምስኒ ሀለዋ ይሰዐር ክብራ ወይትነሠት ዕበያ እንተ እስያኒ ወኵሉ ዓለም ያመልካ ።
Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.”
19:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀκούσαντες δὲ καὶ γενόμενοι πλήρεις θυμοῦ ἔκραζον λέγοντες , μεγάλη ἡ Ἄρτεμις Ἐφεσίων .
His auditis , repleti sunt ira , et exclamaverunt dicentes : Magna Diana Ephesiorum .
ወሰሚዖሙ ተምዑ ወከልሑ በዐቢይ ቃል ወይቤሉ ሰንበት ዕበያ ለአርጤምስ እንተ ኤፌሶን ።
When they heard this they were filled with anger, and cried out, saying, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
19:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐπλήσθη ἡ πόλις τῆς συγχύσεως , ὥρμησάν τε ὁμοθυμαδὸν εἰς τὸ θέατρον συναρπάσαντες Γάϊον καὶ Ἀρίσταρχον Μακεδόνας , συνεκδήμους Παύλου .
Et impleta est civitas confusione , et impetum fecerunt uno animo in theatrum , rapto Gajo et Aristarcho Macedonibus , comitibus Pauli .
ወተሀውኩ ኵሉ ሀገር ወሮጹ ኀበ መካነ ተውኔት ኅቡረ ወሰሐብዎሙ ለጋይዮስ ወለአርስጥሮኮስ ዕደው መቄዶናውያን አዕርክቱ ለጳውሎስ ።
The whole city was filled with confusion, and they rushed with one accord into the theater, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel.
19:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ Παύλου δὲ βουλομένου εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὸν δῆμον οὐκ εἴων αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταί ·
Paulo autem volente intrare in populum , non permiserunt discipuli .
ወፈቀደ ጳውሎስ ይባእ ማእከለ አሕዛብ ወከልእዎ አርድእት ።
When Paul wanted to enter in to the people, the disciples didn’t allow him.
19:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ τινὲς δὲ καὶ τῶν Ἀσιαρχῶν , ὄντες αὐτῷ φίλοι , πέμψαντες πρὸς αὐτὸν παρεκάλουν μὴ δοῦναι ἑαυτὸν εἰς τὸ θέατρον .
Quidam autem et de Asiae principibus , qui erant amici ejus , miserunt ad eum rogantes ne se daret in theatrum :
ወእለሂ እምእስያ አዕርክቱ ለአኩ ኀቤሁ ኢይባእ ማእከለ አሕዛብ አስተብቍዕዎ ።
Certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent to him and begged him not to venture into the theater.
19:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἄλλοι μὲν οὖν ἄλλο τι ἔκραζον , ἦν γὰρ ἡ ἐκκλησία συγκεχυμένη , καὶ οἱ πλείους οὐκ ᾔδεισαν τίνος ἕνεκα συνεληλύθεισαν .
alii autem aliud clamabant . Erat enim ecclesia confusa : et plures nesciebant qua ex causa convenissent .
ወጐንደዩ እንዘ ይኬልሑ ሕዝብ እለ ሀለዉ ህየ መካነ ተውኔት ወቦ እለ ይኬልሑ በካልእ ነገር ወእለሰ ይበዝኁ እምኔሆሙ ኢየአምሩ በእንተ ምንት አንገለጉ ።
Some therefore cried one thing, and some another, for the assembly was in confusion. Most of them didn’t know why they had come together.
19:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐκ δὲ τοῦ ὄχλου συνεβίβασαν Ἀλέξανδρον , προβαλόντων αὐτὸν τῶν Ἰουδαίων · ὁ δὲ Ἀλέξανδρος κατασείσας τὴν χεῖρα ἤθελεν ἀπολογεῖσθαι τῷ δήμῳ .
De turba autem detraxerunt Alexandrum , propellentibus eum Judaeis . Alexander autem manu silentio postulato , volebat reddere rationem populo .
ወሕዝበ አይሁድ እለ ሀለዉ ህየ አንሥኡ እምኔሆሙ ብእሴ አይሁዳዌ ዘስሙ እስክንድሮስ ወተንሢኦ ቀጸበ በእዴሁ ወፈቀደ ይውቅሥ ለዐውድ ።
They brought Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made a defense to the people.
19:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐπιγνόντες δὲ ὅτι Ἰουδαῖός ἐστιν φωνὴ ἐγένετο μία ἐκ πάντων ὡς ἐπὶ ὥρας δύο κράζοντες · μεγάλη ἡ Ἄρτεμις Ἐφεσίων .
Quem ut cognoverunt Judaeum esse , vox facta una est omnium , quasi per horas duas clamantium : Magna Diana Ephesiorum .
ወአእሚሮሙ ከመ አይሁዳዊ ውእቱ ከልሑ ኵሎሙ በአሐዱ ቃል መጠነ ክልኤ ሰዓት እንዘ ይብሉ ሰንበት ዕበያ ለአርጤምስ እንተ ኤፌሶን ።
But when they perceived that he was a Jew, all with one voice for a time of about two hours cried out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
19:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ καταστείλας δὲ ὁ γραμματεὺς τὸν ὄχλον φησίν , ἄνδρες Ἐφέσιοι , τίς γάρ ἐστιν ἀνθρώπων ὃς οὐ γινώσκει τὴν Ἐφεσίων πόλιν νεωκόρον οὖσαν τῆς μεγάλης Ἀρτέμιδος καὶ τοῦ διοπετοῦς ;
Et cum sedasset scriba turbas , dixit : Viri Ephesii , quis enim est hominum , qui nesciat Ephesiorum civitatem cultricem esse magnae Dianae , Jovisque prolis ?
ወእምዝ ተንሥአ ጸሓፌ ሀገር ወአስተጋብኦሙ ለአሕዛብ ወይቤሎሙ ስምዑ ሰብአ ኤፌሶን መኑ ሰብእ ዘኢየአምራ ለሀገረ ኤፌሶን ከመ ይእቲ እንተ አርጤምስ ዐባይ ወጣዖታ ዘወረደ እምሰማይ ።
When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?
19:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀναντιρρήτων οὖν ὄντων τούτων δέον ἐστὶν ὑμᾶς κατεσταλμένους ὑπάρχειν καὶ μηδὲν προπετὲς πράσσειν .
Cum ergo his contradici non possit , oportet vos sedatos esse , et nihil temere agere .
ወበእንተዝ ይመስለኒ አልቦ ዘይክል ተቃውሞታ ለዛቲ ወይእዜኒ ርቱዕ በድቡት ንግበሮ ለዝ ወአኮ በሀከክ ወበትዝልፍት ።
Seeing then that these things can’t be denied, you ought to be quiet and to do nothing rash.
19:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἠγάγετε γὰρ τοὺς ἄνδρας τούτους οὔτε ἱεροσύλους οὔτε βλασφημοῦντας τὴν θεὸν ἡμῶν .
Adduxistis enim homines istos , neque sacrilegos , neque blasphemantes deam vestram .
ናሁ ተባጻሕክምዎሙ ለእሉ ሰብእ ዘኢሰረቁ ቤተ አማልክቲነ ወኢፀረፉ ዲበ አማልክቲነ ።
For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess.
19:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ μὲν οὖν Δημήτριος καὶ οἱ σὺν αὐτῷ τεχνῖται ἔχουσι πρός τινα λόγον , ἀγοραῖοι ἄγονται καὶ ἀνθύπατοί εἰσιν · ἐγκαλείτωσαν ἀλλήλοις .
Quod si Demetrius et qui cum eo sunt artifices , habent adversus aliquem causam , conventus forenses aguntur , et proconsules sunt : accusent invicem .
ወእመሰ ቦ ተስናን ድሜጥሮስ ምስለ ኪነት ለይትዋቀሡ በበይናቲሆሙ ናሁ መኰንን ውስተ ሀገር ።
If therefore Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a matter against anyone, the courts are open and there are proconsuls. Let them press charges against one another.
19:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δέ τι περὶ ἑτέρων ἐπιζητεῖτε , ἐν τῇ ἐννόμῳ ἐκκλησίᾳ ἐπιλυθήσεται .
Si quid autem alterius rei quaeritis , in legitima ecclesia poterit absolvi .
ወእመሰ ባዕድ ማኅሠሥ ብክሙ ዘበእንተ ሕግክሙ ንነሥት ዐውደ ።
But if you seek anything about other matters, it will be settled in the regular assembly.
19:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ γὰρ κινδυνεύομεν ἐγκαλεῖσθαι στάσεως περὶ τῆς σήμερον , μηδενὸς αἰτίου ὑπάρχοντος περὶ οὗ οὐ δυνησόμεθα ἀποδοῦναι λόγον τῆς συστροφῆς ταύτης .
Nam et periclitamur argui seditionis hodiernae , cum nullus obnoxius sit de quo possimus reddere rationem concursus istius . Et cum haec dixisset , dimisit ecclesiam .
እስመ ንትመነሶ ዮም በዘአምጻእክሙ ለነ ሀከከ ዘአልቦ ጌጋይ ወአልብነ ዘንትዋቀሥ በእንተዝ ሀከክ ወዘንተ ብሂሎ ነሠተ ዐውደ ።
For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning today’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”
19:41 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ταῦτα εἰπὼν ἀπέλυσεν τὴν ἐκκλησίαν .
— — When he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
