18:1
Μετὰ ταῦτα χωρισθεὶς ἐκ τῶν Ἀθηνῶν ἦλθεν εἰς Κόρινθον.
Post haec egressus ab Athenis, venit Corinthum :
ወእምዝ ወፅአ ጳውሎስ እምአቴና ወሖረ ቆሮንቶስ።
After these things Paul departed from Athens and came to Corinth.
18:2
καὶ εὑρών τινα Ἰουδαῖον ὀνόματι Ἀκύλαν, Ποντικὸν τῷ γένει, προσφάτως ἐληλυθότα ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰταλίας καὶ Πρίσκιλλαν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ διὰ τὸ τεταχέναι Κλαύδιον χωρίζεσθαι πάντας τοὺς Ἰουδαίους ἀπὸ τῆς Ῥώμης, προσῆλθεν αὐτοῖς,
et inveniens quemdam Judaeum nomine Aquilam, Ponticum genere, qui nuper venerat ab Italia, et Priscillam uxorem ejus (eo quod praecepisset Claudius discedere omnes Judaeos a Roma), accessit ad eos.
ወረከበ አሐደ አይሁዳዌ ዘስሙ አቂላ ወሀገሩ ጳንጦስ ወበጽሐ ሶቤሃ እምኢጣልያ ወብእሲቱ ጵርስቅላ እስመ አዘዘ ቀላውዴዎስ ይስድዱ አይሁደ እምሮሜ።
He found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,
18:3
καὶ διὰ τὸ ὁμότεχνον εἶναι ἔμενεν παρ’ αὐτοῖς καὶ ἠργάζοντο· ἦσαν γὰρ σκηνοποιοὶ τῇ τέχνῃ.
Et quia ejusdem erat artis, manebat apud eos, et operabatur. (Erant autem scenofactoriae artis.)
ወመጽአ ኀቤሆሙ እስመ ያኀብር ግብረ ሥራሆሙ እስመ ገበርተ ሰቀላ እሙንቱ ወአሐዱ ኪኖሙ ወነበረ ኀቤሆሙ ኅቡረ ወይትጌበሩ ክዳናተ ሰቀላ።
and because he practiced the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.
18:4
διελέγετο δὲ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ κατὰ πᾶν σάββατον, ἔπειθέν τε Ἰουδαίους καὶ Ἕλληνας.
Et disputabat in synagoga per omne sabbatum, interponens nomen Domini Jesu : suadebatque Judaeis et Graecis.
ወጳውሎስ ይትዋቀሦሙ በምኵራብ በኵሉ ሰናብት ወያአምኖሙ ለአይሁድ ወለአረሚ።
He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded Jews and Greeks.
18:5
Ὡς δὲ κατῆλθον ἀπὸ τῆς Μακεδονίας ὅ τε Σιλᾶς καὶ ὁ Τιμόθεος, συνείχετο τῷ λόγῳ ὁ Παῦλος, διαμαρτυρόμενος τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις εἶναι τὸν Χριστόν Ἰησοῦν.
Cum venissent autem de Macedonia Silas et Timotheus, instabat verbo Paulus, testificans Judaeis esse Christum Jesum.
ወወረዱ እመቄዶንያ ሲላስ ወጢሞቴዎስ ወነገሮሙ ጳውሎስ ለአይሁድ ወአስምዖሙ ከመ ኢየሱስ ውእቱ ክርስቶስ።
When Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.
18:6
ἀντιτασσομένων δὲ αὐτῶν καὶ βλασφημούντων ἐκτιναξάμενος τὰ ἱμάτια εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς, τὸ αἷμα ὑμῶν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν ὑμῶν· καθαρὸς ἐγώ· ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν εἰς τὰ ἔθνη πορεύσομαι.
Contradicentibus autem eis, et blasphemantibus, excutiens vestimenta sua, dixit ad eos : Sanguis vester super caput vestrum : mundus ego : ex hoc ad gentes vadam.
ወተዋቀሥዎ ወፀረፉ ወእምዝ ነገፈ አልባሲሁ ወይቤሎሙ ደምክሙ ላዕለ ርእስክሙ ንጹሕ አነ እንከ እምደመ ኵልክሙ እምይእዜሰ አሐውር መንገለ አሕዛብ።
When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”
18:7
καὶ μεταβὰς ἐκεῖθεν εἰσῆλθεν εἰς οἰκίαν τινὸς ὀνόματι Τιτίου Ἰούστου σεβομένου τὸν θεόν, οὗ ἡ οἰκία ἦν συνομοροῦσα τῇ συναγωγῇ.
Et migrans inde, intravit in domum cujusdam, nomine Titi Justi, colentis Deum, cujus domus erat conjuncta synagogae.
ወኀሊፎ እምህየ ቦአ ቤተ ኢዮስጦስ ብእሲ ፈራሄ እግዚአብሔር ወቤቱ ጎረ ምኵራብ።
He departed there and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.
18:8
Κρίσπος δὲ ὁ ἀρχισυνάγωγος ἐπίστευσεν τῷ κυρίῳ σὺν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ, καὶ πολλοὶ τῶν Κορινθίων ἀκούοντες ἐπίστευον καὶ ἐβαπτίζοντο.
Crispus autem archisynagogus credidit Domino cum omni domo sua : et multi Corinthiorum audientes credebant, et baptizabantur.
ወቀርስጶስሂ መጋቤ ምኵራብ አምነ ምስለ ኵሉ ሰብአ ቤቱ በእግዚእነ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ወብዙኃን እምሰብአ ቆሮንቶስ ሰሚዖሙ አምኑ ወተጠምቁ።
Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptized.
18:9
εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος ἐν νυκτὶ δι’ ὁράματος τῷ Παύλῳ, μὴ φοβοῦ, ἀλλὰ λάλει καὶ μὴ σιωπήσῃς,
Dixit autem Dominus nocte per visionem Paulo : Noli timere, sed loquere, et ne taceas :
ወይቤሎ እግዚእነ ለጳውሎስ በራእየ ሌሊት ኢትፍራህ ንግር ወኢታርምም።
The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, “Don’t be afraid, but speak and don’t be silent;
18:10
διότι ἐγώ εἰμι μετὰ σοῦ καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐπιθήσεταί σοι τοῦ κακῶσαί σε, διότι λαός ἐστίν μοι πολὺς ἐν τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ.
propter quod ego sum tecum, et nemo apponetur tibi ut noceat te : quoniam populus est mihi multus in hac civitate.
እስመ ሀለውኩ አነ ምስሌከ ወአልቦ ዘያሐምመከ እስመ ብዙኅ ሕዝብ ብየ ውስተ ዛቲ ሀገር።
for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.”
18:11
ἐκάθισεν δὲ ἐνιαυτὸν καὶ μῆνας ἓξ διδάσκων ἐν αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ.
Sedit autem ibi annum et sex menses, docens apud eos verbum Dei.
ወነበረ ጳውሎስ ዓመተ፥ ወስድስተ አውራኀ እንዘ ይሜህሮሙ ቃለ እግዚአብሔር በቆሮንቶስ።
He lived there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
18:12
Γαλλίωνος δὲ ἀνθυπάτου ὄντος τῆς Ἀχαΐας κατεπέστησαν ὁμοθυμαδὸν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι τῷ Παύλῳ καὶ ἤγαγον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ βῆμα,
Gallione autem proconsule Achaiae, insurrexerunt uno animo Judaei in Paulum, et adduxerunt eum ad tribunal,
ወተባጽሕዎ አይሁድ ለጳውሎስ ኀበ ጋልዮስ መልአከ አካይያ ወአምጽእዎ ኀበ ዐውድ።
But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,
18:13
λέγοντες ὅτι παρὰ τὸν νόμον ἀναπείθει οὗτος τοὺς ἀνθρώπους σέβεσθαι τὸν θεόν.
dicentes : Quia contra legem hic persuadet hominibus colere Deum.
ወይቤልዎ በዘአልቦ ሕግ ይሜህር ለሰብእ ያምልክዎ ለእግዚአብሔር።
saying, “This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”
18:14
μέλλοντος δὲ τοῦ Παύλου ἀνοίγειν τὸ στόμα εἶπεν ὁ Γαλλίων πρὸς τοὺς Ἰουδαίους, εἰ μὲν ἦν ἀδίκημά τι ἢ ῥᾳδιούργημα πονηρόν, ὦ Ἰουδαῖοι, κατὰ λόγον ἂν ἀνεσχόμην ὑμῶν·
Incipiente autem Paulo aperire os, dixit Gallio ad Judaeos : Si quidem esset iniquum aliquid aut facinus pessimum, o viri Judaei, recte vos sustinerem.
ወፈቂዶ ጳውሎስ ይክሥት አፉሁ ወይንግሮሙ አውሥአ መልአክ ጋልዮስ ለአይሁድ ወይቤሎሙ አንትሙ አይሁድ ለእመ ቦ ዘገፍዐክሙ ወቦ ካልእ ጌጋይ እምአስተዋቀሥኩክሙ ወእምአጽማዕኩክሙ።
But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you;
18:15
εἰ δὲ ζητήματά ἐστιν περὶ λόγου καὶ ὀνομάτων καὶ νόμου τοῦ καθ’ ὑμᾶς, ὄψεσθε αὐτοί· κριτὴς ἐγὼ τούτων οὐ βούλομαι εἶναι.
Si vero quaestiones sunt de verbo, et nominibus, et lege vestra, vos ipsi videritis : judex ego horum nolo esse.
ወእመሰ ትትካሐዱ በእንተ ቃል ወበእንተ ሕግክሙ ወበእንተ አስማተ ሰብእ ለሊክሙ አእምሩ አንሰ ኢይፈቅድ እስማዕ ዘከመዝ ነገረ።
but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don’t want to be a judge of these matters.”
18:16
καὶ ἀπήλασεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ βήματος.
Et minavit eos a tribunali.
ወሰደድዎሙ እምኀበ ዐውድ።
So he drove them from the judgment seat.
18:17
ἐπιλαβόμενοι δὲ πάντες Σωσθένην τὸν ἀρχισυνάγωγον ἔτυπτον ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ βήματος· καὶ οὐδὲν τούτων τῷ Γαλλίωνι ἔμελεν.
Apprehendentes autem omnes Sosthenem principem synagogae, percutiebant eum ante tribunal : et nihil eorum Gallioni curae erat.
ወአኀዝዎ ኵሎሙ አረማውያን ለሶስቴንስ መጋቤ ምኵራብ ወዘበጥዎ በኀበ ዐውድ ወኢያኅዘኖ ለጋልዮስ ወኢምንተኒ በእንቲኣሁ።
Then all the Greeks seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. Gallio didn’t care about any of these things.
18:18
Ὁ δὲ Παῦλος ἔτι προσμείνας ἡμέρας ἱκανὰς τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς ἀποταξάμενος ἐξέπλει εἰς τὴν Συρίαν, καὶ σὺν αὐτῷ Πρίσκιλλα καὶ Ἀκύλας, κειράμενος ἐν Κενχρεαῖς τὴν κεφαλήν, εἶχεν γὰρ εὐχήν.
Paulus vero cum adhuc sustinuisset dies multos fratribus valefaciens, navigavit in Syriam (et cum eo Priscilla et Aquila), qui sibi totonderat in Cenchris caput : habebat enim votum.
ወነበረ ጳውሎስ ዓዲ ኅዳጠ መዋዕለ ኀበ ቢጹ ወፈነውዎ በሰላም ወነገደ በባሕር ከመ ይሑር ሶርያ ወሀለዉ ምስሌሁ ጵርስቅላ ወአቂላ ወተላፀየ ርእሶ በውስተ ክንክራኦስ እስመ ብፅዐት ቦ።
Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.
18:19
κατήντησαν δὲ εἰς Ἔφεσον, κἀκείνους κατέλιπεν αὐτοῦ, αὐτὸς δὲ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν διελέξατο τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις.
Devenitque Ephesum, et illos ibi reliquit. Ipse vero ingressus synagogam, disputabat cum Judaeis.
ወበጽሑ ኤፌሶን ወኀደጎሙ ህየ ወውእቱሰ ቦአ ምኵራበ ወተዋቀሦሙ ለአይሁድ።
He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.
18:20
ἐρωτώντων δὲ αὐτῶν ἐπὶ πλείονα χρόνον μεῖναι οὐκ ἐπένευσεν,
Rogantibus autem eis ut ampliori tempore maneret, non consensit,
ወአስተብቍዕዎ ይንበር ብዙኀ መዋዕለ ወኢፈቀደ።
When they asked him to stay with them a longer time, he declined;
18:21
ἀλλὰ ἀποταξάμενος καὶ εἰπών· πάλιν ἀνακάμψω πρὸς ὑμᾶς τοῦ θεοῦ θέλοντος, ἀνήχθη ἀπὸ τῆς Ἐφέσου·
sed valefaciens, et dicens : Iterum revertar ad vos, Deo volente : profectus est ab Epheso.
ወእምዝ ሶበ ፈነውዎ ይቤሎሙ እገብእ ካዕበ ለእመ ፈቀደ እግዚአብሔር ወባሕቱ ይእዜሰ እፈቅድ ከመ እግበር በዓለ ዘይመጽእ በኢየሩሳሌም።
but taking his leave of them, he said, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.
18:22
καὶ κατελθὼν εἰς Καισάριαν, ἀναβὰς καὶ ἀσπασάμενος τὴν ἐκκλησίαν, κατέβη εἰς Ἀντιόχειαν,
Et descendens Caesaream, ascendit, et salutavit ecclesiam, et descendit Antiochiam.
ወነገደ በባሕር ወወረደ ቂሳርያ ወዐርገ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ወተአምኆሙ ወሖረ አንጾኪያ።
When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the assembly, and went down to Antioch.
18:23
καὶ ποιήσας χρόνον τινὰ ἐξῆλθεν, διερχόμενος καθεξῆς τὴν Γαλατικὴν χώραν καὶ Φρυγίαν, στηρίζων πάντας τοὺς μαθητάς.
Et facto ibi aliquanto tempore profectus est, perambulans ex ordine Galaticam regionem, et Phrygiam, confirmans omnes discipulos.
ወነበረ ኅዳጠ መዋዕለ ወወፅአ ወሖረ ወኀለፈ በበንስቲት በብሔረ ፍርግያ ወገላትያ ወአጽንዖሙ ለኵሎሙ አርድእት እለ ሀለዉ ህየ ላዕለ አሚን በእግዚእነ ክርስቶስ።
Having spent some time there, he departed and went through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.
18:24
Ἰουδαῖος δέ τις Ἀπολλῶς ὀνόματι, Ἀλεξανδρεὺς τῷ γένει, ἀνὴρ λόγιος, κατήντησεν εἰς Ἔφεσον, δυνατὸς ὢν ἐν ταῖς γραφαῖς.
Judaeus autem quidam, Apollo nomine, Alexandrinus genere, vir eloquens, devenit Ephesum, potens in scripturis.
ወሀሎ አሐዱ ብእሲ አይሁዳዊ ዘስሙ አጵሎስ ዘእስክንድርያ ብእሲ ጠቢብ ወየአምር መጽሐፈ።
Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus. He was mighty in the Scriptures.
18:25
οὗτος ἦν κατηχημένος τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ κυρίου, καὶ ζέων τῷ πνεύματι ἐλάλει καὶ ἐδίδασκεν ἀκριβῶς τὰ περὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ, ἐπιστάμενος μόνον τὸ βάπτισμα Ἰωάννου.
Hic erat edoctus viam Domini : et fervens spiritu loquebatur, et docebat diligenter ea quae sunt Jesu, sciens tantum baptisma Joannis.
ወበጽሐ ኤፌሶን ወይክል ተናግሮ ወምሁር ፍኖተ እግዚአብሔር ወጸሓቂ በመንፈሱ ይንግር ወይምሀር በእንተ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ወዳእሙ በጥምቀተ ዮሐንስ ተጠምቀ።
This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.
18:26
οὗτός τε ἤρξατο παρρησιάζεσθαι ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ· ἀκούσαντες δὲ αὐτοῦ Πρίσκιλλα καὶ Ἀκύλας προσελάβοντο αὐτὸν καὶ ἀκριβέστερον αὐτῷ ἐξέθεντο τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ θεοῦ.
Hic ergo coepit fiducialiter agere in synagoga. Quem cum audissent Priscilla et Aquila, assumpserunt eum, et diligentius exposuerunt ei viam Domini.
ወውእቱ አኀዘ ይንግር ገሃደ በምኵራብ ወሰምዕዎ ጵርስቅላ ወአቂላ ወአቅረብዎ ኀበ ማኅደሮሙ ወአጠየቅዎ ፍኖተ እግዚአብሔር ፍጹመ።
He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
18:27
βουλομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ διελθεῖν εἰς τὴν Ἀχαΐαν, προτρεψάμενοι οἱ ἀδελφοὶ ἔγραψαν τοῖς μαθηταῖς ἀποδέξασθαι αὐτόν. ὃς παραγενόμενος συνεβάλετο πολὺ τοῖς πεπιστευκόσιν διὰ τῆς χάριτος.
Cum autem vellet ire Achaiam, exhortati fratres, scripserunt discipulis ut susciperent eum. Qui cum venisset, contulit multum his qui crediderant.
ወፈቀደ ይሑር አካይያ ወአብጽሕዎ ቢጹ ወጸሐፉ ሎቱ ኀበ አርድእት ይትወከፍዎ ወበጺሖ ኀቤሆሙ ነገሮሙ ብዙኀ ለእለ አምኑ በጸጋ እግዚአብሔር ወረድኦሙ ለመሃይምናን ዐቢየ ረድኤተ።
When he had determined to pass over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him; and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he had come, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;
18:28
εὐτόνως γὰρ τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις διακατηλέγχετο δημοσίᾳ ἐπιδεικνὺς διὰ τῶν γραφῶν εἶναι τὸν Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν.
Vehementer enim Judaeos revincebat publice, ostendens per Scripturas esse Christum Jesum.
እስመ ይትጋደሎሙ ለአይሁድ ፈድፋደ በቅድመ ኵሉ ሕዝብ እንዘ ሀለዉ ጉብኣን ገሃደ ወያበጽሕ ሎሙ እምውስተ መጻሕፍት በእንተ ኢየሱስ ከመ ውእቱ ክርስቶስ።
for he powerfully refuted the Jews, publicly showing by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
