27:1
Ὡς δὲ ἐκρίθη τοῦ ἀποπλεῖν ἡμᾶς εἰς τὴν Ἰταλίαν, παρεδίδουν τόν τε Παῦλον καί τινας ἑτέρους δεσμώτας ἑκατοντάρχῃ ὀνόματι Ἰουλίῳ σπείρης Σεβαστῆς.
Ut autem judicatum est navigare eum in Italiam, et tradi Paulum cum reliquis custodiis centurioni nomine Julio cohortis Augustae,
ወእምዝ አዘዘ ፊስጦስ ይሰድዎ ኀበ ቄሣር ኢጣልያ ወተውህበ ጳውሎስ ወካልኣንኒ ሙቁሓን ምስሌሁ ለብእሲ እምነ ሐራ ሰብስጥያ ዘስሙ ዩልዮስ ሐቤ ምእት።
When it was determined that we should sail for Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Augustan band.
27:2
ἐπιβάντες δὲ πλοίῳ Ἀδραμυττηνῷ μέλλοντι πλεῖν εἰς τοὺς κατὰ τὴν Ἀσίαν τόπους ἀνήχθημεν, ὄντος σὺν ἡμῖν Ἀριστάρχου Μακεδόνος Θεσσαλονικέως·
ascendentes navem Adrumetinam, incipientes navigare circa Asiae loca, sustulimus, perseverante nobiscum Aristarcho Macedone Thessalonicensi.
ወሶበ ወፃእነ ከመ ንንግድ ረከብነ ሐመረ እምአሕማረ አድራማጢስ እንተ ትፈቅድ ሐዊረ ብሔረ እስያ ወነገደ ምስሌነ አርስጠርኮስ መቄዶናዊ ዘሀገረ ተሰሎንቄ።
Embarking in a ship of Adramyttium, which was about to sail to places on the coast of Asia, we put to sea, Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica being with us.
27:3
τῇ τε ἑτέρᾳ κατήχθημεν εἰς Σιδῶνα, φιλανθρώπως τε ὁ Ἰούλιος τῷ Παύλῳ χρησάμενος ἐπέτρεψεν πρὸς τοὺς φίλους πορευθέντι ἐπιμελείας τυχεῖν.
Sequenti autem die devenimus Sidonem. Humane autem tractans Julius Paulum, permisit ad amicos ire, et curam sui agere.
ወበሳኒታ በጻሕነ ሲዶና ወመሐሮ መልአክ ለጳውሎስ ወአብሖ ይሑር ኀበ አርካኒሁ ከመ ያዕርፍ ኀቤሆሙ።
The next day, we touched at Sidon. Julius treated Paul kindly and gave him permission to go to his friends and refresh himself.
27:4
κἀκεῖθεν ἀναχθέντες ὑπεπλεύσαμεν τὴν Κύπρον διὰ τὸ τοὺς ἀνέμους εἶναι ἐναντίους,
Et inde cum sustulissemus, subnavigavimus Cyprum, propterea quod essent venti contrarii.
ወእምዝ ሖርነ እምህየ ወበጻሕነ አድያመ ቆጵሮስ እስመ ነፋስ እምገጽነ።
Putting to sea from there, we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.
27:5
τό τε πέλαγος τὸ κατὰ τὴν Κιλικίαν καὶ Παμφυλίαν διαπλεύσαντες κατήλθαμεν εἰς Μύρρα τῆς Λυκίας.
Et pelagus Ciliciae et Pamphyliae navigantes, venimus Lystram, quae est Lyciae :
ወቦእነ ባሕረ ቂልቂያ ወጵንፍልያ ወሖርነ ለሙራ ዘብሔረ ሉቅያ ይእቲ።
When we had sailed across the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.
27:6
Κἀκεῖ εὑρὼν ὁ ἑκατοντάρχης πλοῖον Ἀλεξανδρῖνον πλέον εἰς τὴν Ἰταλίαν ἐνεβίβασεν ἡμᾶς εἰς αὐτό.
et ibi inveniens centurio navem Alexandrinam navigantem in Italiam, transposuit nos in eam.
ወበህየ ረከበ መልአክ ሐመረ እስክንድርያ እንተ ተሐውር ኢጣልያ ወአብአነ ውስቴታ።
There the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing for Italy, and he put us on board.
27:7
ἐν ἱκαναῖς δὲ ἡμέραις βραδυπλοοῦντες καὶ μόλις γενόμενοι κατὰ τὴν Κνίδον, μὴ προσεῶντος ἡμᾶς τοῦ ἀνέμου, ὑπεπλεύσαμεν τὴν Κρήτην κατὰ Σαλμώνην,
Et cum multis diebus tarde navigaremus, et vix devenissemus contra Gnidum, prohibente nos vento, adnavigavimus Cretae juxta Salmonem :
ወይእቲሰ ሐመር ክብደ ሖረት ወእምድኅረዝ በብዙኅ መዋዕል በጻሕነ ለገጸ ደሴተ ቀኒዶስ ወበእንተ ጽንዐ ነፋስ ኢክህልነ ሐዊረ ርቱዐ ወነገድነ አድያመ አቅራጥስ ለገጸ ሀገረ ስልማና።
When we had sailed slowly many days, and had come with difficulty opposite Cnidus, the wind not allowing us further, we sailed under the lee of Crete, opposite Salmone.
27:8
μόλις τε παραλεγόμενοι αὐτὴν ἤλθομεν εἰς τόπον τινὰ καλούμενον Καλοὺς λιμένας, ᾧ ἐγγὺς πόλις ἦν Λασαία.
et vix juxta navigantes, venimus in locum quemdam qui vocatur Boniportus, cui juxta erat civitas Thalassa.
ወእምዕፁብ እንዘ ነሐውር ንሕነ ጥቃሃ በጻሕነ ለመካን ዘስማ መርስ ሠናይት ዘቅርብት ለሀገር እንተ ስማ ለአስ።
With difficulty sailing along it we came to a certain place called Fair Havens, near the city of Lasea.
27:9
ἱκανοῦ δὲ χρόνου διαγενομένου καὶ ὄντος ἤδη ἐπισφαλοῦς τοῦ πλοὸς διὰ τὸ καὶ τὴν νηστείαν ἤδη παρεληλυθέναι, παρῄνει ὁ Παῦλος
Multo autem tempore peracto, et cum jam non esset tuta navigatio eo quod et jejunium jam praeteriisset, consolabatur eos Paulus,
ወጐንደይነ ህየ ብዙኀ መዋዕለ እስከ ቦአ ዕለተ ጾመ አይሁድ ወበጽሐ መዋዕል ዘኢይክሉ ሰብእ ነጊደ በባሕር ውእተ ጊዜ ወእምዝ አምከሮሙ ጳውሎስ ወይቤሎሙ።
When much time had passed and the voyage was now dangerous because the Fast had now already gone by, Paul admonished them
27:10
λέγων αὐτοῖς, ἄνδρες, θεωρῶ ὅτι μετὰ ὕβρεως καὶ πολλῆς ζημίας οὐ μόνον τοῦ φορτίου καὶ τοῦ πλοίου ἀλλὰ καὶ τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν μέλλειν ἔσεσθαι τὸν πλοῦν.
dicens eis : Viri, video quoniam cum injuria et multo damno non solum oneris, et navis, sed etiam animarum nostrarum incipit esse navigatio.
ስምዑኒ ኦ ወራዙት እስመ እሬኢ ንግደተነ በብዙኅ ምንዳቤ ወኀጕል ዐቢይ ወዘንተ ዘእብል አኮ በእንተ ጾረ ሐመር ባሕቲቱ ዓዲ ነፍሰነሂ ታኀጕሉነ ኅድጉ እስመ እፈርህ።
and said to them, “Sirs, I perceive that the voyage will be with injury and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.”
27:11
ὁ δὲ ἑκατοντάρχης τῷ κυβερνήτῃ καὶ τῷ ναυκλήρῳ μᾶλλον ἐπείθετο ἢ τοῖς ὑπὸ Παύλου λεγομένοις.
Centurio autem gubernatori et nauclero magis credebat, quam his quae a Paulo dicebantur.
ወመልአክሰ ለሰብአ ሐመር ወለሐዳፊ ይትኤዘዞሙ ወይትዌከፍ ቃሎሙ ወለጳውሎስሰ ኢይሰምዖ ወኢይትዌከፍ ቃሎ።
But the centurion gave more heed to the master and to the owner of the ship than to those things which were spoken by Paul.
27:12
ἀνευθέτου δὲ τοῦ λιμένος ὑπάρχοντος πρὸς παραχειμασίαν οἱ πλείονες ἔθεντο βουλὴν ἀναχθῆναι ἐκεῖθεν, εἴπως δύναιντο καταντήσαντες εἰς Φοίνικα παραχειμάσαι, λιμένα τῆς Κρήτης βλέποντα κατὰ λίβα καὶ κατὰ χῶρον.
Et cum aptus portus non esset ad hiemandum, plurimi statuerunt consilium navigare inde, si quomodo possent, devenientes Phoenicen hiemare, portum Cretae respicientem ad Africum et ad Corum.
ወውእቱሰ መርሶ ኢይደሉ ይክርሙ ውስቴቱ ክረምተ ወበእንተዝ አፍቀሩ ብዙኃን ከመ ይፃኡ እምህየ ለእመ ተክህሎሙ ከመ ይብጽሑ ለካልእ መርሶ ዘፊንቂ ዘመንገለ አቅራጥስ ዘስሙ ኤውንቄ ዘመንገለ የማን።
Because the haven was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised going to sea from there, if by any means they could reach Phoenix and winter there, which is a port of Crete, looking southwest and northwest.
27:13
ὑποπνεύσαντος δὲ νότου δόξαντες τῆς προθέσεως κεκρατηκέναι, ἄραντες ἆσσον παρελέγοντο τὴν Κρήτην.
Aspirante autem austro, aestimantes propositum se tenere, cum sustulissent de Asson, legebant Cretam.
ወነፍኀ ነፋሰ አዜብ ወመሰሎሙ ዘይበጽሑ በከመ ፈቃዶሙ ወአልዐሉ ሥራዐ ወሖሩ ደወለ አቅራጥስ።
When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, they weighed anchor and sailed along Crete, close to shore.
27:14
μετ’ οὐ πολὺ δὲ ἔβαλεν κατ’ αὐτῆς ἄνεμος τυφωνικὸς ὁ καλούμενος εὐρακύλων·
Non post multum autem misit se contra ipsam ventus typhonicus, qui vocatur Euroaquilo.
ወእምድኅረ ኅዳጥ መዋዕል መጽአ ላዕሌሆሙ ነፋስ ጽኑዕ ጥፉንቂስ ዘይብልዎ አውራቂስ ወይእቲ ነፋስ እንተ ስማ ሰልቢባ።
But before long, a stormy wind beat down from shore, which is called Euroclydon.
27:15
συναρπασθέντος δὲ τοῦ πλοίου καὶ μὴ δυναμένου ἀντοφθαλμεῖν τῷ ἀνέμῳ ἐπιδόντες ἐφερόμεθα.
Cumque arrepta esset navis, et non posset conari in ventum, data nave flatibus, ferebamur.
ወተለዐለት ሐመርነ ወተዘብጠት ወኢክህሉ ኖትያት ቀዊመ ቅድመ ገጸ ነፋስ ወኀደግዋ ወሖረት።
When the ship was caught and couldn’t face the wind, we gave way to it and were driven along.
27:16
νησίον δέ τι ὑποδραμόντες καλούμενον Κλαῦδα ἰσχύσαμεν μόλις περικρατεῖς γενέσθαι τῆς σκάφης,
In insulam autem quamdam decurrentes, quae vocatur Cauda, potuimus vix obtinere scapham.
ወእምዝ ነፍኀ ነፋስ እስከ ቦእነ ደሴተ እንተ ስማ ቄዳ ወእምዕፁብ ክህልነ ከመ ናርግዝ ሐመረነ።
Running under the lee of a small island called Clauda, we were able, with difficulty, to secure the boat.
27:17
ἣν ἄραντες βοηθείαις ἐχρῶντο ὑποζωννύντες τὸ πλοῖον· φοβούμενοί τε μὴ εἰς τὴν Σύρτιν ἐκπέσωσιν, χαλάσαντες τὸ σκεῦος, οὕτως ἐφέροντο.
Qua sublata, adjutoriis utebantur, accingentes navem, timentes ne in Syrtim inciderent, summisso vase sic ferebantur.
ወእምዝ ታሓጊዘነ አጽናዕናሃ በአሕባል ወእምዝ ሶበ ፈርሁ ከመ ኢይደቁ ውስተ ልጐተ ባሕር አውረዱ ሥራዐ ወረሰይነ ንሑር ከማሁ።
After they had hoisted it up, they used cables to help reinforce the ship. Fearing that they would run aground on the Syrtis sand bars, they lowered the sea anchor, and so were driven along.
27:18
σφοδρῶς δὲ χειμαζομένων ἡμῶν τῇ ἑξῆς ἐκβολὴν ἐποιοῦντο,
Valida autem nobis tempestate jactatis, sequenti die jactum fecerunt :
ወበሳኒታ ጸንዐ ላዕሌነ መዋግድ ወገደፍነ አልባሲነ ውስተ ባሕር።
As we labored exceedingly with the storm, the next day they began to throw things overboard.
27:19
καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ αὐτόχειρες τὴν σκευὴν τοῦ πλοίου ἔριψαν·
et tertia die suis manibus armamenta navis projecerunt.
ወበሣልስታሂ ገደፍነ ኵሎ ዘውስተ ሐመር ዲበ ባሕር በእደዊነ።
On the third day, they threw out the ship’s tackle with their own hands.
27:20
μήτε δὲ ἡλίου μήτε ἄστρων ἐπιφαινόντων ἐπὶ πλείονας ἡμέρας, χειμῶνός τε οὐκ ὀλίγου ἐπικειμένου, λοιπὸν περιῃρεῖτο ἐλπὶς πᾶσα τοῦ σώζεσθαι ἡμᾶς.
Neque autem sole, neque sideribus apparentibus per plures dies, et tempestate non exigua imminente, jam ablata erat spes omnis salutis nostrae.
ወነበረ ይዘንም ላዕሌነ ጕንዱየ ዕለተ እንዘ ኢንሬኢ ፀሐየ ወወርኀ ወኢከዋክብተ ወቀበጽነ ሐዪወ።
When neither sun nor stars shone on us for many days, and no small storm pressed on us, all hope that we would be saved was now taken away.
27:21
πολλῆς τε ἀσιτίας ὑπαρχούσης, τότε σταθεὶς ὁ Παῦλος ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν εἶπεν· ἔδει μέν, ὦ ἄνδρες, πειθαρχήσαντάς μοι μὴ ἀνάγεσθαι ἀπὸ τῆς Κρήτης κερδῆσαί τε τὴν ὕβριν ταύτην καὶ τὴν ζημίαν.
Et cum multa jejunatio fuisset, tunc stans Paulus in medio eorum, dixit : Oportebat quidem, o viri, audito me, non tollere a Creta, lucrique facere injuriam hanc et jacturam.
ወአልቦ ዘበልዐ መብልዐ እምኔነ ወተንሥአ ጳውሎስ ወቆመ ማእከለ ወይቤሎሙ ሶበ ሰማዕክሙኒ ቀዲሙ አኀውየ ወኢወፃእክሙ እምአቅራጥስ እምድኅንክሙ እምዝ ኀጕል ወሕማም።
When they had been long without food, Paul stood up in the middle of them and said, “Sirs, you should have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete and have gotten this injury and loss.
27:22
καὶ τὰ νῦν παραινῶ ὑμᾶς εὐθυμεῖν; ἀποβολὴ γὰρ ψυχῆς οὐδεμία ἔσται ἐξ ὑμῶν πλὴν τοῦ πλοίου.
Et nunc suadeo vobis bono animo esse : amissio enim nullius animae erit ex vobis, praeterquam navis.
ወይእዜኒ እብለክሙ ኢትፍርሁ እስመ አልቦ ዘይትኀጐል አሐዱ ነፍስ እምኔነ ዘእንበለ ዳእሙ ሐመርነ።
Now I exhort you to cheer up, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.
27:23
παρέστη γάρ μοι ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ τοῦ θεοῦ οὗ εἰμὶ ἐγώ, ᾧ καὶ λατρεύω, ἄγγελος
Astitit enim mihi hac nocte angelus Dei, cujus sum ego, et cui deservio,
እስመ ቆመ ኀቤየ በዛቲ ሌሊት መልአከ እግዚአብሔር ዘአነ ሎቱ ወኪያሁ አመልክ።
For there stood by me this night an angel, belonging to the God whose I am and whom I serve,
27:24
λέγων· μὴ φοβοῦ, Παῦλε· Καίσαρί σε δεῖ παραστῆναι, καὶ ἰδοὺ κεχάρισταί σοι ὁ θεὸς πάντας τοὺς πλέοντας μετὰ σοῦ.
dicens : Ne timeas, Paule : Caesari te oportet assistere : et ecce donavit tibi Deus omnes qui navigant tecum.
ወይቤለኒ ኢትፍራህ ጳውሎስ ሀለወከ ትቁም ቅድመ ቄሣር ወናሁ ጸገወከ እግዚአብሔር ኵሎሙ እለ ነገዱ ምስሌከ።
saying, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. Behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’
27:25
διὸ εὐθυμεῖτε, ἄνδρες· πιστεύω γὰρ τῷ θεῷ ὅτι οὕτως ἔσται καθ’ ὃν τρόπον λελάληταί μοι.
Propter quod bono animo estote, viri : credo enim Deo quia sic erit, quemadmodum dictum est mihi.
ወይእዜኒ ተፈሥሑ አኀውየ እስመ እትአመን በእግዚአብሔር ከመ ይከውን በከመ ይቤለኒ።
Therefore, sirs, cheer up! For I believe God, that it will be just as it has been spoken to me.
27:26
εἰς νῆσον δέ τινα δεῖ ἡμᾶς ἐκπεσεῖν.
In insulam autem quamdam oportet nos devenire.
ወባሕቱ ንበጽሕ አሐተ ደሴተ።
But we must run aground on a certain island.”
27:27
Ὡς δὲ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτη νὺξ ἐγένετο διαφερομένων ἡμῶν ἐν τῷ Ἀδρίᾳ, κατὰ μέσον τῆς νυκτὸς ὑπενόουν οἱ ναῦται προσάγειν τινὰ αὐτοῖς χώραν.
Sed posteaquam quartadecima nox supervenit, navigantibus nobis in Adria circa mediam noctem, suspicabantur nautae apparere sibi aliquam regionem.
ወአመ ዐሡር ወረቡዕ ጊዜ መንፈቀ ሌሊት መሰሎሙ ኖትያት ከመ ዘበጽሑ ምድረ።
But when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven back and forth in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors surmised that they were drawing near to some land.
27:28
καὶ βολίσαντες εὗρον ὀργυιὰς εἴκοσι, βραχὺ δὲ διαστήσαντες καὶ πάλιν βολίσαντες εὗρον ὀργυιὰς δεκαπέντε·
Qui et summittentes bolidem, invenerunt passus viginti : et pusillum inde separati, invenerunt passus quindecim.
ወአውረዱ ሐብለ ወረከቡ ዕሥራ በቆመ ብእሲ ወተአተቱ እምህየ ወአውረዱ ካዕበ ወረከቡ ዐሠርተ ወኀምስተ በቆም።
They took soundings and found twenty fathoms. After a little while, they took soundings again, and found fifteen fathoms.
27:29
φοβούμενοί τε μήπου κατὰ τραχεῖς τόπους ἐκπέσωμεν, ἐκ πρύμνης ῥίψαντες ἀγκύρας τέσσαρας εὔχοντο ἡμέραν γενέσθαι.
Timentes autem ne in aspera loca incideremus, de puppi mittentes anchoras quatuor, optabant diem fieri.
ወፈርሁ ከመ ኢይደቁ ውስተ መካን ዘቦቱ ኰኵሕ ወከመ ኢይትጐዳእ ሐመሮሙ ወአውረዱ አርባዕተ መልሕቀ ውስተ ባሕር እንተ ድኅረ ሐመር ወጸለይነ ከመ ፍጡነ ይጽባሕ።
Fearing that we would run aground on rocky ground, they let go four anchors from the stern, and wished for daylight.
27:30
τῶν δὲ ναυτῶν ζητούντων φυγεῖν ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου καὶ χαλασάντων τὴν σκάφην εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν προφάσει ὡς ἐκ πρῴρης ἀγκύρας μελλόντων ἐκτείνειν,
Nautis vero quaerentibus fugere de navi, cum misissent scapham in mare, sub obtentu quasi inciperent a prora anchoras extendere,
ወእምዝ ሶበ ፈቀዱ ይትኀጥኡ ኖትያት እምሐመር አውረዱ እምኔሃ ራግናተ ውስተ ባሕር ከመ ይደሐሉ ቦቱ ወያጽንዑ ሐመሮሙ በምድር።
As the sailors were trying to flee out of the ship and had lowered the boat into the sea, pretending that they would lay out anchors from the bow,
27:31
εἶπεν ὁ Παῦλος τῷ ἑκατοντάρχῃ καὶ τοῖς στρατιώταις· ἐὰν μὴ οὗτοι μείνωσιν ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ, ὑμεῖς σωθῆναι οὐ δύνασθε.
dixit Paulus centurioni et militibus : Nisi hi in navi manserint, vos salvi fieri non potestis.
ወርእዮ ጳውሎስ ይቤሎሙ ለሐቢ ወለሠገራት እምከመ ኢነበሩ እሉ ኖትያት ውስተ ሐመር ኢንክል ሐዪወ።
Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, “Unless these stay in the ship, you can’t be saved.”
27:32
τότε ἀπέκοψαν οἱ στρατιῶται τὰ σχοινία τῆς σκάφης καὶ εἴασαν αὐτὴν ἐκπεσεῖν.
Tunc absciderunt milites funes scaphae, et passi sunt eam excidere.
ወተንሥኡ ሠገራት ወመተሩ ሶቤሃ አሕባለ ራግናት ወኀደግዋ ትደቅ።
Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the boat and let it fall off.
27:33
Ἄχρι δὲ οὗ ἡμέρα ἔμελλεν γίνεσθαι, παρεκάλει ὁ Παῦλος ἅπαντας μεταλαβεῖν τροφῆς λέγων· τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτην σήμερον ἡμέραν προσδοκῶντες ἄσιτοι διατελεῖτε, μηθὲν προσλαβόμενοι.
Et cum lux inciperet fieri, rogabat Paulus omnes sumere cibum, dicens : Quartadecima die hodie exspectantes jejuni permanetis, nihil accipientes.
ወጸቢሖ ብሔር አስተብቍዖሙ ጳውሎስ ለኵሎሙ ይብልዑ እክለ ወይቤሎሙ ዐሡር ወረቡዕ ዮም እምዘኢበላዕክሙ እክለ።
While the day was coming on, Paul begged them all to take some food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day that you wait and continue fasting, having taken nothing.
27:34
διὸ παρακαλῶ ὑμᾶς μεταλαβεῖν τροφῆς, τοῦτο γὰρ πρὸς τῆς ὑμετέρας σωτηρίας ὑπάρχει· οὐδενὸς γὰρ ὑμῶν θρὶξ ἀπὸ τῆς κεφαλῆς ἀπολεῖται.
Propter quod rogo vos accipere cibum pro salute vestra : quia nullius vestrum capillus de capite peribit.
ወዮምኒ ብቍዑኒ ምስሑ ወብልዑ ወርድኡ ነፍሰክሙ እስመ አልቦ ዘይትኀጐል እምኔክሙ ወኢሥዕርተ ርእስክሙ።
Therefore I beg you to take some food, for this is for your safety; for not a hair will perish from any of your heads.”
27:35
εἴπας δὲ ταῦτα καὶ λαβὼν ἄρτον εὐχαρίστησεν τῷ θεῷ ἐνώπιον πάντων καὶ κλάσας ἤρξατο ἐσθίειν.
Et cum haec dixisset, sumens panem, gratias egit Deo in conspectu omnium : et cum fregisset, coepit manducare.
ወዘንተ ብሂሎ ነሥአ ኅብስተ ወአእኰተ እግዚአብሔርሃ ወከፈለ ቅድመ ኵሎሙ ወወሀቦሙ ወአኀዙ ይብልዑ።
When he had said this and had taken bread, he gave thanks to God in the presence of all; then he broke it and began to eat.
27:36
εὔθυμοι δὲ γενόμενοι πάντες καὶ αὐτοὶ προσελάβοντο τροφῆς.
Animaequiores autem facti omnes, et ipsi sumpserunt cibum.
ወተናዘዙ ኵሎሙ ወጥዕሙ።
Then they all cheered up, and they also took food.
27:37
ἤμεθα δὲ αἱ πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ διακόσιαι ἑβδομήκοντα ἕξ.
Eramus vero universae animae in navi ducentae septuaginta sex.
ወኮነ ፍቅዶሙ ለእለ ሀለዉ ውስተ ሐመር ክልኤቱ ምእት ወሰብዓ ወስድስቱ ነፍስ።
In all, we were two hundred seventy-six souls on the ship.
27:38
κορεσθέντες δὲ τροφῆς ἐκούφιζον τὸ πλοῖον ἐκβαλλόμενοι τὸν σῖτον εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν.
Et satiati cibo alleviabant navem, jactantes triticum in mare.
ወተሴስዮሙ አቅለሉ ሐመረ ወነሥኡ ሥርናየ ዘውስተ ሐመር ወወገሩ ውስተ ባሕር።
When they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, throwing out the wheat into the sea.
27:39
Ὅτε δὲ ἡμέρα ἐγένετο, τὴν γῆν οὐκ ἐπεγίνωσκον, κόλπον δέ τινα κατενόουν ἔχοντα αἰγιαλὸν εἰς ὃν ἐβουλεύοντο εἰ δύναιντο ἐξῶσαι τὸ πλοῖον.
Cum autem dies factus esset, terram non agnoscebant : sinum vero quemdam considerabant habentem littus, in quem cogitabant si possent ejicere navem.
ወጸቢሖ መዓልት ኢፈለጡ ኖትያት ውእተ ምድረ ወኢያእመሩ ዘየሐውሩ ወባሕቱ ርእዩ አድባረ ደሴት ዘቅሩብ ለሐይቀ ባሕር ወፈቀዱ ያብጽሑ ሐመሮሙ ህየ።
When it was day, they didn’t recognize the land, but they noticed a certain bay with a beach, and they decided to try to drive the ship onto it.
27:40
καὶ τὰς ἀγκύρας περιελόντες εἴων εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, ἅμα ἀνέντες τὰς ζευκτηρίας τῶν πηδαλίων, καὶ ἐπάραντες τὸν ἀρτέμωνα τῇ πνεούσῃ κατεῖχον εἰς τὸν αἰγιαλόν.
Et cum anchoras sustulissent, committebant se mari, simul laxantes juncturas gubernaculorum : et levato artemone secundum aurae flatum, tendebant ad littus.
ወመተሩ መልሕቀ ወኀደጉ ውስተ ባሕር ወአሠነዩ ምቅዋመ ወሰቀሉ ሥራዐ ዘይንእስ በከመ ንፍኀተ ነፋስ ወሖርነ መንገለ ሐይቀ ባሕር።
Casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time untying the rudder ropes. Hoisting up the foresail to the wind, they made for the beach.
27:41
περιπεσόντες δὲ εἰς τόπον διθάλασσον ἐπέκειλαν τὴν ναῦν, καὶ ἡ μὲν πρῷρα ἐρείσασα ἔμεινεν ἀσάλευτος, ἡ δὲ πρύμνα ἐλύετο ὑπὸ τῆς βίας.
Et cum incidissemus in locum dithalassum, impegerunt navem : et prora quidem fixa manebat immobilis, puppis vero solvebatur a vi maris.
ወተለክአት ሐመር ማእከለ ክልኤቱ አእባን ልዑላን ወባሕሩ ዕሙቅ ወተእኅዘት እምቅድሜሃ ወኢያንቀልቀለት ወተሰብረት ወተመትረት ገቦሃ ዘድኅር እሞገድ ወእምቅድሜሃሰ ኢክህሉ ኖትያት።
But coming to a place where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground. The bow struck and remained immovable, but the stern began to break up by the violence of the waves.
27:42
τῶν δὲ στρατιωτῶν βουλὴ ἐγένετο ἵνα τοὺς δεσμώτας ἀποκτείνωσιν, μή τις ἐκκολυμβήσας διαφύγῃ·
Militum autem consilium fuit ut custodias occiderent, ne quis cum enatasset, effugeret.
ወተማከሩ ሠገራት ከመ ይቅትሉ ሙቁሓነ ከመ ኢይጽብቱ ወኢያምሥጡ።
The soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim out and escape.
27:43
ὁ δὲ ἑκατοντάρχης βουλόμενος διασῶσαι τὸν Παῦλον ἐκώλυσεν αὐτοὺς τοῦ βουλήματος, ἐκέλευσέν τε τοὺς δυναμένους κολυμβᾶν ἀπορίψαντας πρώτους ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἐξιέναι,
Centurio autem volens servare Paulum, prohibuit fieri : jussitque eos qui possent natare, emittere se primos, et evadere, et ad terram exire :
ወከልኦሙ ሐቢ እስመ ፈቀደ ያድኅኖ ለጳውሎስ ወለእለ የአምሩ ጸቢተ አዘዞሙ ይጽብቱ ወይፃኡ ለሐይቅ።
But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land;
27:44
καὶ τοὺς λοιποὺς οὓς μὲν ἐπὶ σανίσιν οὓς δὲ ἐπί τινων τῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ πλοίου· καὶ οὕτως ἐγένετο πάντας διασωθῆναι ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν.
et ceteros, alios in tabulis ferebant, quosdam super ea quae de navi erant. Et sic factum est, ut omnes animae evaderent ad terram.
ወእለ ተርፉ ዐደዉ ላዕለ ዕፀ ሐመር ወሰላድው ወካልኣን ዐደዉ በአሕባለ ሐመር ወወፅኡ ኵሎሙ ወበጽሑ ምድረ በዘከመዝ ግብር።
and the rest should follow, some on planks and some on other things from the ship. So they all escaped safely to the land.
