7:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַחַר֙ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה בְּמַלְכ֖וּת אַרְתַּחְשַׁ֣סְתְּא מֶֽלֶךְ ־פָּרָ֑ס עֶזְרָא֙ בֶּן ־שְׂרָיָ֔ה בֶּן ־עֲזַרְיָ֖ה בֶּן ־חִלְקִיָּֽה ׃
καὶ μετὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ἐν βασιλείᾳ Αρθασασθα βασιλέως Περσῶν ἀνέβη Εσδρας υἱὸς Σαραιου υἱοῦ Αζαριου υἱοῦ Ελκια
Post haec autem verba in regno Artaxerxis regis Persarum , Esdras filius Saraiae , filii Azariae , filii Helciae ,
Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
7:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ בֶּן ־שַׁלּ֥וּם בֶּן ־צָד֖וֹק בֶּן ־אֲחִיטֽוּב ׃

7:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ בֶּן ־אֲבִישׁ֗וּעַ בֶּן ־פִּֽינְחָס֙ בֶּן ־אֶלְעָזָ֔ר בֶּן ־אַהֲרֹ֥ן הַכֹּהֵ֖ן הָרֹֽאשׁ ׃
υἱοῦ Αβισουε υἱοῦ Φινεες υἱοῦ Ελεαζαρ υἱοῦ Ααρων τοῦ ἱερέως τοῦ πρώτου
filii Abisue , filii Phinees , filii Eleazar , filii Aaron sacerdotis ab initio .

7:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ה֤וּא עֶזְרָא֙ עָלָ֣ה מִבָּבֶ֔ל וְהֽוּא ־סֹפֵ֤ר מָהִיר֙ בְּתוֹרַ֣ת מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֲשֶׁר ־נָתַ֥ן יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּתֶּן ־ל֣וֹ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ כְּיַד ־יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהָיו֙ עָלָ֔יו כֹּ֖ל בַּקָּשָׁתֽוֹ ׃ {פ}
αὐτὸς Εσδρας ἀνέβη ἐκ Βαβυλῶνος καὶ αὐτὸς γραμματεὺς ταχὺς ἐν νόμῳ Μωυσῆ ὃν ἔδωκεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ ὁ βασιλεύς ὅτι χεὶρ κυρίου θεοῦ αὐτοῦ ἐπ’ αὐτὸν ἐν πᾶσιν οἷς ἐζήτει αὐτός
Ipse Esdras ascendit de Babylone , et ipse scriba velox in lege Moysi , quam Dominus Deus dedit Israël : et dedit ei rex secundum manum Domini Dei ejus super eum , omnem petitionem ejus .
this Ezra went up from Babylon. He was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which Yahweh, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to Yahweh his God’s hand on him.
7:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּֽעֲל֣וּ מִבְּנֵֽי ־יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֠ל וּמִן ־הַכֹּהֲנִ֨ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֜ם וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֧ים וְהַשֹּׁעֲרִ֛ים וְהַנְּתִינִ֖ים אֶל ־יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם בִּשְׁנַת ־שֶׁ֖בַע לְאַרְתַּחְשַׁ֥סְתְּא הַמֶּֽלֶךְ ׃
καὶ ἀνέβησαν ἀπὸ υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἱερέων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν Λευιτῶν καὶ οἱ ᾄδοντες καὶ οἱ πυλωροὶ καὶ οἱ ναθινιμ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ ἐν ἔτει ἑβδόμῳ τῷ Αρθασασθα τῷ βασιλεῖ
Et ascenderunt de filiis Israël , et de filiis sacerdotum , et de filiis Levitarum , et de cantoribus , et de janitoribus , et de Nathinaeis , in Jerusalem , anno septimo Artaxerxis regis .
Some of the children of Israel, including some of the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants went up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
7:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּבֹ֥א יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַחֲמִישִׁ֑י הִ֛יא שְׁנַ֥ת הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖ית לַמֶּֽלֶךְ ׃
καὶ ἤλθοσαν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ τῷ μηνὶ τῷ πέμπτῳ τοῦτο ἔτος ἕβδομον τῷ βασιλεῖ
Et venerunt in Jerusalem mense quinto , ipse est annus septimus regis .
He came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.
7:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֗י בְּאֶחָד֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֔וֹן ה֣וּא יְסֻ֔ד הַֽמַּעֲלָ֖ה מִבָּבֶ֑ל וּבְאֶחָ֞ד לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַחֲמִישִׁ֗י בָּ֚א אֶל ־יְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם כְּיַד ־אֱלֹהָ֖יו הַטּוֹבָ֥ה עָלָֽיו ׃
ὅτι ἐν μιᾷ τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ πρώτου αὐτὸς ἐθεμελίωσεν τὴν ἀνάβασιν τὴν ἀπὸ Βαβυλῶνος ἐν δὲ τῇ πρώτῃ τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ πέμπτου ἤλθοσαν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ ὅτι χεὶρ θεοῦ αὐτοῦ ἦν ἀγαθὴ ἐπ’ αὐτόν
Quia in primo die mensis primi coepit ascendere de Babylone , et in primo die mensis quinti venit in Jerusalem , juxta manum Dei sui bonam super se .
For on the first day of the first month he began to go up from Babylon; and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God on him.
7:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֤י עֶזְרָא֙ הֵכִ֣ין לְבָב֔וֹ לִדְרֹ֛שׁ אֶת ־תּוֹרַ֥ת יְהֹוָ֖ה וְלַעֲשֹׂ֑ת וּלְלַמֵּ֥ד בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל חֹ֥ק וּמִשְׁפָּֽט ׃ {ס}
ὅτι Εσδρας ἔδωκεν ἐν καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ ζητῆσαι τὸν νόμον καὶ ποιεῖν καὶ διδάσκειν ἐν Ισραηλ προστάγματα καὶ κρίματα
Esdras enim paravit cor suum , ut investigaret legem Domini , et faceret et doceret in Israël praeceptum et judicium .
For Ezra had set his heart to seek Yahweh’s law, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.
7:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְזֶ֣ה ׀ פַּרְשֶׁ֣גֶן הַֽנִּשְׁתְּוָ֗ן אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָתַן֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אַרְתַּחְשַׁ֔סְתְּא לְעֶזְרָ֥א הַכֹּהֵ֖ן הַסֹּפֵ֑ר סֹפֵ֞ר דִּבְרֵ֧י מִצְוֺת ־יְהֹוָ֛ה וְחֻקָּ֖יו עַל ־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃ {פ}
καὶ αὕτη ἡ διασάφησις τοῦ διατάγματος οὗ ἔδωκεν Αρθασασθα τῷ Εσδρα τῷ ἱερεῖ τῷ γραμματεῖ βιβλίου λόγων ἐντολῶν κυρίου καὶ προσταγμάτων αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ
Hoc est autem exemplar epistolae edicti , quod dedit rex Artaxerxes Esdrae sacerdoti , scribae erudito in sermonibus et praeceptis Domini , et caeremoniis ejus in Israël .
Now this is the copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of Yahweh’s commandments, and of his statutes to Israel:
7:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ אַ֨רְתַּחְשַׁ֔סְתְּא מֶ֖לֶךְ מַלְכַיָּ֑א לְעֶזְרָ֣א כָ֠הֲנָ֠א סָפַ֨ר דָּתָ֜א דִּֽי ־אֱלָ֧הּ שְׁמַיָּ֛א גְּמִ֖יר וּכְעֶֽנֶת ׃
Αρθασασθα βασιλεὺς βασιλέων Εσδρα γραμματεῖ νόμου τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ τετέλεσται ὁ λόγος καὶ ἡ ἀπόκρισις
Artaxerxes rex regum Esdrae sacerdoti scribae legis Dei caeli doctissimo , salutem .

7:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִנִּי֮ שִׂ֣ים טְעֵם֒ דִּ֣י כׇל ־מִתְנַדַּ֣ב בְּמַלְכוּתִי֩ מִן ־עַמָּ֨א יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל וְכָהֲנ֣וֹהִי וְלֵוָיֵ֗א לִמְהָ֧ךְ לִֽירוּשְׁלֶ֛ם עִמָּ֖ךְ יְהָֽךְ ׃
ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ ἐτέθη γνώμη ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ἑκουσιαζόμενος ἐν βασιλείᾳ μου ἀπὸ λαοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ ἱερέων καὶ Λευιτῶν πορευθῆναι εἰς Ιερουσαλημ μετὰ σοῦ πορευθῆναι
A me decretum est , ut cuicumque placuerit in regno meo de populo Israël , et de sacerdotibus ejus , et de Levitis , ire in Jerusalem , tecum vadat .
I make a decree that all those of the people of Israel and their priests and the Levites in my realm, who intend of their own free will to go to Jerusalem, go with you.
7:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ כׇּל ־קֳבֵ֗ל דִּי֩ מִן ־קֳדָ֨ם מַלְכָּ֜א וְשִׁבְעַ֤ת יָעֲטֹ֙הִי֙ שְׁלִ֔יחַ לְבַקָּרָ֥ה עַל ־יְה֖וּד וְלִֽירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם בְּדָ֥ת אֱלָהָ֖ךְ דִּ֥י בִידָֽךְ ׃
ἀπὸ προσώπου τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τῶν ἑπτὰ συμβούλων ἀπεστάλη ἐπισκέψασθαι ἐπὶ τὴν Ιουδαίαν καὶ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ νόμῳ θεοῦ αὐτῶν τῷ ἐν χειρί σου
A facie enim regis , et septem consiliatorum ejus , missus es , ut visites Judaeam et Jerusalem in lege Dei tui , quae est in manu tua :
Because you are sent by the king and his seven counselors to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of your God which is in your hand,
7:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּלְהֵיבָלָ֖ה כְּסַ֣ף וּדְהַ֑ב דִּֽי ־מַלְכָּ֣א וְיָעֲט֗וֹהִי הִתְנַדַּ֙בוּ֙ לֶאֱלָ֣הּ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל דִּ֥י בִֽירוּשְׁלֶ֖ם מִשְׁכְּנֵֽהּ ׃
καὶ εἰς οἶκον κυρίου ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον ὃ ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ οἱ σύμβουλοι ἡκουσιάσθησαν τῷ θεῷ τοῦ Ισραηλ τῷ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ κατασκηνοῦντι
et ut feras argentum et aurum quod rex , et consiliatores ejus , sponte obtulerunt Deo Israël , cujus in Jerusalem tabernaculum est .
and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,
7:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְכֹל֙ כְּסַ֣ף וּדְהַ֔ב דִּ֣י תְהַשְׁכַּ֔ח בְּכֹ֖ל מְדִינַ֣ת בָּבֶ֑ל עִם֩ הִתְנַדָּב֨וּת עַמָּ֤א וְכָֽהֲנַיָּא֙ מִֽתְנַדְּבִ֔ין לְבֵ֥ית אֱלָהֲהֹ֖ם דִּ֥י בִירוּשְׁלֶֽם ׃
καὶ πᾶν ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον ὅ τι ἐὰν εὕρῃς ἐν πάσῃ χώρᾳ Βαβυλῶνος μετὰ ἑκουσιασμοῦ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ ἱερέων τῶν ἑκουσιαζομένων εἰς οἶκον θεοῦ τὸν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ
Et omne argentum et aurum quodcumque inveneris in universa provincia Babylonis , et populus offerre voluerit , et de sacerdotibus quae sponte obtulerint domui Dei sui , quae est in Jerusalem ,
and all the silver and gold that you will find in all the province of Babylon, with the free will offering of the people and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem.
7:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ כׇּל ־קֳבֵ֣ל דְּנָה֩ אׇסְפַּ֨רְנָא תִקְנֵ֜א בְּכַסְפָּ֣א דְנָ֗ה תּוֹרִ֤ין ׀דִּכְרִין֙ אִמְּרִ֔ין וּמִנְחָתְה֖וֹן וְנִסְכֵּיה֑וֹן וּתְקָרֵ֣ב הִמּ֔וֹ עַֽל ־מַדְבְּחָ֔ה דִּ֛י בֵּ֥ית אֱלָהֲכֹ֖ם דִּ֥י בִירוּשְׁלֶֽם ׃
καὶ πᾶν προσπορευόμενον τοῦτον ἑτοίμως ἔνταξον ἐν βιβλίῳ τούτῳ μόσχους κριούς ἀμνοὺς καὶ θυσίας αὐτῶν καὶ σπονδὰς αὐτῶν καὶ προσοίσεις αὐτὰ ἐπὶ θυσιαστηρίου τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν τοῦ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ
libere accipe , et studiose eme de hac pecunia vitulos , arietes , agnos , et sacrificia , et libamina eorum , et offer ea super altare templi Dei vestri , quod est in Jerusalem .
Therefore you shall with all diligence buy with this money bulls, rams, and lambs with their meal offerings and their drink offerings, and shall offer them on the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
7:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּמָ֣ה דִי֩ (עליך ) [עֲלָ֨ךְ ] וְעַל ־[אֶחָ֜ךְ ] (אחיך ) יֵיטַ֗ב בִּשְׁאָ֛ר כַּסְפָּ֥א וְדַהֲבָ֖ה לְמֶעְבַּ֑ד כִּרְע֥וּת אֱלָהֲכֹ֖ם תַּעַבְדֽוּן ׃
καὶ εἴ τι ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου ἀγαθυνθῇ ἐν καταλοίπῳ τοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ τοῦ χρυσίου ποιῆσαι ὡς ἀρεστὸν τῷ θεῷ ὑμῶν ποιήσατε
Sed et si quid tibi et fratribus tuis placuerit de reliquo argento et auro ut faciatis , juxta voluntatem Dei vestri facite .
Whatever seems good to you and to your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, do that according to the will of your God.
7:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּמָֽאנַיָּא֙ דִּֽי ־מִתְיַהֲבִ֣ין לָ֔ךְ לְפׇלְחָ֖ן בֵּ֣ית אֱלָהָ֑ךְ הַשְׁלֵ֕ם קֳדָ֖ם אֱלָ֥הּ יְרוּשְׁלֶֽם ׃
καὶ τὰ σκεύη τὰ διδόμενά σοι εἰς λειτουργίαν οἴκου θεοῦ παράδος ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ
Vasa quoque , quae dantur tibi in ministerium domus Dei tui , trade in conspectu Dei in Jerusalem .
The vessels that are given to you for the service of the house of your God, deliver before the God of Jerusalem.
7:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּשְׁאָ֗ר חַשְׁחוּת֙ בֵּ֣ית אֱלָהָ֔ךְ דִּ֥י יִפֶּל ־לָ֖ךְ לְמִנְתַּ֑ן תִּנְתֵּ֕ן מִן ־בֵּ֖ית גִּנְזֵ֥י מַלְכָּֽא ׃
καὶ κατάλοιπον χρείας οἴκου θεοῦ σου ὃ ἂν φανῇ σοι δοῦναι δώσεις ἀπὸ οἴκων γάζης βασιλέως
Sed et cetera , quibus opus fuerit in domum Dei tui , quantumcumque necesse est ut expendas , dabitur de thesauro , et de fisco regis ,
Whatever more will be needed for the house of your God, which you may have occasion to give, give it out of the king’s treasure house.
7:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּ֠מִנִּ֠י אֲנָ֞ה אַרְתַּחְשַׁ֤סְתְּא מַלְכָּא֙ שִׂ֣ים טְעֵ֔ם לְכֹל֙ גִּזַּֽבְרַיָּ֔א דִּ֖י בַּעֲבַ֣ר נַהֲרָ֑ה דִּ֣י כׇל ־דִּ֣י יִ֠שְׁאֲלֶנְכ֠וֹן עֶזְרָ֨א כָהֲנָ֜א סָפַ֤ר דָּתָא֙ דִּֽי ־אֱלָ֣הּ שְׁמַיָּ֔א אׇסְפַּ֖רְנָא יִתְעֲבִֽד ׃
καὶ ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ ἐγὼ Αρθασασθα βασιλεύς ἔθηκα γνώμην πάσαις ταῖς γάζαις ταῖς ἐν πέρα τοῦ ποταμοῦ ὅτι πᾶν ὃ ἂν αἰτήσῃ ὑμᾶς Εσδρας ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ γραμματεὺς τοῦ νόμου τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἑτοίμως γιγνέσθω
et a me . Ego Artaxerxes rex , statui atque decrevi omnibus custodibus arcae publicae , qui sunt trans flumen , ut quodcumque petierit a vobis Esdras sacerdos , scriba legis Dei caeli , absque mora detis ,
I, even I, Artaxerxes the king, make a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the River, that whatever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, requires of you, it shall be done with all diligence,
7:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ עַד ־כְּסַף֮ כַּכְּרִ֣ין מְאָה֒ וְעַד ־חִנְטִין֙ כּוֹרִ֣ין מְאָ֔ה וְעַד ־חֲמַר֙ בַּתִּ֣ין מְאָ֔ה וְעַד ־בַּתִּ֥ין מְשַׁ֖ח מְאָ֑ה וּמְלַ֖ח דִּי ־לָ֥א כְתָֽב ׃
ἕως ἀργυρίου ταλάντων ἑκατὸν καὶ ἕως πυροῦ κόρων ἑκατὸν καὶ ἕως οἴνου βάδων ἑκατὸν καὶ ἕως ἐλαίου βάδων ἑκατὸν καὶ ἅλας οὗ οὐκ ἔστιν γραφή
usque ad argenti talenta centum , et usque ad frumenti coros centum , et usque ad vini batos centum , et usque ad batos olei centum , sal vero absque mensura .
up to one hundred talents of silver, and to one hundred cors of wheat, and to one hundred baths of wine, and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.
7:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ כׇּל ־דִּ֗י מִן ־טַ֙עַם֙ אֱלָ֣הּ שְׁמַיָּ֔א יִתְעֲבֵד֙ אַדְרַזְדָּ֔א לְבֵ֖ית אֱלָ֣הּ שְׁמַיָּ֑א דִּֽי ־לְמָ֤ה לֶֽהֱוֵא֙ קְצַ֔ף עַל ־מַלְכ֥וּת מַלְכָּ֖א וּבְנֽוֹהִי ׃
πᾶν ὅ ἐστιν ἐν γνώμῃ θεοῦ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ γιγνέσθω προσέχετε μή τις ἐπιχειρήσῃ εἰς οἶκον θεοῦ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ μήποτε γένηται ὀργὴ ἐπὶ τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ
Omne quod ad ritum Dei caeli pertinet , tribuatur diligenter in domo Dei caeli : ne forte irascatur contra regnum regis , et filiorum ejus .
Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be done exactly for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?
7:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּלְכֹ֣ם מְהוֹדְעִ֗ין דִּ֣י כׇל ־כָּהֲנַיָּ֣א וְ֠לֵוָיֵ֠א זַמָּ֨רַיָּ֤א תָרָֽעַיָּא֙ נְתִ֣ינַיָּ֔א וּפָ֣לְחֵ֔י בֵּ֖ית אֱלָהָ֣א דְנָ֑ה מִנְדָּ֤ה בְלוֹ֙ וַהֲלָ֔ךְ לָ֥א שַׁלִּ֖יט לְמִרְמֵ֥א עֲלֵיהֹֽם ׃ {פ}
καὶ ὑμῖν ἐγνώρισται ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν καὶ τοῖς Λευίταις ᾄδουσιν πυλωροῖς ναθινιμ καὶ λειτουργοῖς οἴκου θεοῦ τούτου φόρος μὴ ἔστω σοι οὐκ ἐξουσιάσεις καταδουλοῦσθαι αὐτούς
Vobis quoque notum facimus de universis sacerdotibus , et Levitis , et cantoribus , et janitoribus , Nathinaeis , et ministris domus Dei hujus , ut vectigal , et tributum , et annonas non habeatis potestatem imponendi super eos .
Also we inform you that it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll on any of the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple servants, or laborers of this house of God.
7:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַ֣נְתְּ עֶזְרָ֗א כְּחׇכְמַ֨ת אֱלָהָ֤ךְ דִּֽי ־בִידָךְ֙ מֶ֣נִּי שָׁפְטִ֞ין וְדַיָּנִ֗ין דִּי ־לֶהֱוֺ֤ן (דאנין ) [דָּאיְנִין֙ ] לְכׇל ־עַמָּא֙ דִּ֚י בַּעֲבַ֣ר נַהֲרָ֔ה לְכׇל ־יָדְעֵ֖י דָּתֵ֣י אֱלָהָ֑ךְ וְדִ֧י לָ֦א יָדַ֖ע תְּהוֹדְעֽוּן ׃
καὶ σύ Εσδρα ὡς ἡ σοφία τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν χειρί σου κατάστησον γραμματεῖς καὶ κριτάς ἵνα ὦσιν κρίνοντες παντὶ τῷ λαῷ τῷ ἐν πέρα τοῦ ποταμοῦ πᾶσιν τοῖς εἰδόσιν νόμον τοῦ θεοῦ σου καὶ τῷ μὴ εἰδότι γνωριεῖτε
Tu autem Esdra , secundum sapientiam Dei tui , quae est in manu tua , constitue judices et praesides , ut judicent omni populo qui est trans flumen , his videlicet qui noverunt legem Dei tui : sed et imperitos docete libere .
You, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God that is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, who all know the laws of your God; and teach him who doesn’t know them.
7:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְכׇל ־דִּי ־לָא֩ לֶהֱוֵ֨א עָבֵ֜ד דָּתָ֣א דִֽי ־אֱלָהָ֗ךְ וְדָתָא֙ דִּ֣י מַלְכָּ֔א אׇסְפַּ֕רְנָא דִּינָ֕ה לֶהֱוֵ֥א מִתְעֲבֵ֖ד מִנֵּ֑הּ הֵ֤ן לְמוֹת֙ הֵ֣ן (לשרשו ) [לִשְׁרֹשִׁ֔י ] הֵן ־לַעֲנָ֥שׁ נִכְסִ֖ין וְלֶאֱסוּרִֽין ׃ {פ}
καὶ πᾶς ὃς ἂν μὴ ᾖ ποιῶν νόμον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ νόμον τοῦ βασιλέως ἑτοίμως τὸ κρίμα ἔσται γιγνόμενον ἐξ αὐτοῦ ἐάν τε εἰς θάνατον ἐάν τε εἰς παιδείαν ἐάν τε εἰς ζημίαν τοῦ βίου ἐάν τε εἰς δεσμά
Et omnis qui non fecerit legem Dei tui , et legem regis , diligenter , judicium erit de eo sive in mortem , sive in exilium , sive in condemnationem substantiae ejus , vel certe in carcerem .
Whoever will not do the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed on him with all diligence, whether it is to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
7:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ בָּר֥וּךְ יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבֹתֵ֑ינוּ אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֤ן כָּזֹאת֙ בְּלֵ֣ב הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לְפָאֵ֕ר אֶת ־בֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם ׃
εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ὃς ἔδωκεν οὕτως ἐν καρδίᾳ τοῦ βασιλέως τοῦ δοξάσαι τὸν οἶκον κυρίου τὸν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ
Benedictus Dominus Deus patrum nostrorum , qui dedit hoc in corde regis ut glorificaret domum Domini quae est in Jerusalem ,
Blessed be Yahweh, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem;
7:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְעָלַ֣י הִטָּה ־חֶ֗סֶד לִפְנֵ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ וְיֽוֹעֲצָ֔יו וּלְכׇל ־שָׂרֵ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ הַגִּבֹּרִ֑ים וַאֲנִ֣י הִתְחַזַּ֗קְתִּי כְּיַד ־יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהַי֙ עָלַ֔י וָאֶקְבְּצָ֧ה מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֛ל רָאשִׁ֖ים לַעֲל֥וֹת עִמִּֽי ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἔκλινεν ἔλεος ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τῶν συμβούλων αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντων τῶν ἀρχόντων τοῦ βασιλέως τῶν ἐπηρμένων καὶ ἐγὼ ἐκραταιώθην ὡς χεὶρ θεοῦ ἡ ἀγαθὴ ἐπ’ ἐμέ καὶ συνῆξα ἀπὸ Ισραηλ ἄρχοντας ἀναβῆναι μετ’ ἐμοῦ
et in me inclinavit misericordiam suam coram rege et consiliatoribus ejus , et universis principibus regis potentibus : et ego confortatus manu Domini Dei mei , quae erat in me , congregavi de Israël principes qui ascenderent mecum .
and has extended loving kindness to me before the king and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. I was strengthened according to Yahweh my God’s hand on me, and I gathered together chief men out of Israel to go up with me.
