12:1
סְבָבֻ֤נִֽי בְכַ֙חַשׁ֙ אֶפְרַ֔יִם וּבְמִרְמָ֖ה בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וִיהוּדָ֗ה עֹ֥ד רָד֙ עִם־אֵ֔ל וְעִם־קְדוֹשִׁ֖ים נֶאֱמָֽן׃
ἐκύκλωσέν με ἐν ψεύδει Εφραιμ καὶ ἐν ἀσεβείαις οἶκος Ισραηλ καὶ Ιουδα νῦν ἔγνω αὐτοὺς ὁ θεός καὶ λαὸς ἅγιος κεκλήσεται θεοῦ
Ephraim pascit ventum, et sequitur aestum ; tota die mendacium et vastitatem multiplicat : et foedus cum Assyriis iniit, et oleum in Aegyptum ferebat.
ኤፍሬምሰ፡ እኩይ፡ ጋኔን፡ ዜዴግነ፡ ክብረ፡ ወኲሎ፡ ከንቶ፡ ወሐሰተ፡ አብዝኀ፡ ወተካየደ፡ ላኪዳ፡ ስምለ፡ ፋርስ፡ ወያሐውሩ፡ ቅብአ፡ ግብፅ፡ ከመ፡ ይምሐርዎ።
Ephraim feeds on wind, and chases the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and desolation. They make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.
12:2
אֶפְרַ֜יִם רֹעֶ֥ה ר֙וּחַ֙ וְרֹדֵ֣ף קָדִ֔ים כׇּל־הַיּ֕וֹם כָּזָ֥ב וָשֹׁ֖ד יַרְבֶּ֑ה וּבְרִית֙ עִם־אַשּׁ֣וּר יִכְרֹ֔תוּ וְשֶׁ֖מֶן לְמִצְרַ֥יִם יוּבָֽל׃
ὁ δὲ Εφραιμ πονηρὸν πνεῦμα ἐδίωξεν καύσωνα ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν κενὰ καὶ μάταια ἐπλήθυνεν καὶ διαθήκην μετὰ Ἀσσυρίων διέθετο καὶ ἔλαιον εἰς Αἴγυπτον ἐνεπορεύετο
Judicium ergo Domini cum Juda, et visitatio super Jacob : juxta vias ejus, et juxta adinventiones ejus reddet ei.
ወይትዋቀስ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ምስለ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ወይትቤቀሎ፡ ለያዕቆብ፡ ወይፈድዩ፡ በከመ፡ ፍናዊሁ፡ ወበከመ፡ ምግባሩ።
Yahweh also has a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his deeds he will repay him.
12:3
וְרִ֥יב לַֽיהֹוָ֖ה עִם־יְהוּדָ֑ה וְלִפְקֹ֤ד עַֽל־יַעֲקֹב֙ כִּדְרָכָ֔יו כְּמַעֲלָלָ֖יו יָשִׁ֥יב לֽוֹ׃
καὶ κρίσις τῷ κυρίῳ πρὸς Ιουδαν τοῦ ἐκδικῆσαι τὸν Ιακωβ κατὰ τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ κατὰ τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα αὐτοῦ ἀνταποδώσει αὐτῷ
In utero supplantavit fratrem suum, et in fortitudine sua directus est cum angelo.
በውስተ፡ ከርስ፡ አዕቀጾ፡ ለእዕቀጾ፡ ለአኁሁ፡ ወበፃማሁ፡ ክህለ፡ ምስለ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he contended with God.
12:4
בַּבֶּ֖טֶן עָקַ֣ב אֶת־אָחִ֑יו וּבְאוֹנ֖וֹ שָׂרָ֥ה אֶת־אֱלֹהִֽים׃
ἐν τῇ κοιλίᾳ ἐπτέρνισεν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν κόποις αὐτοῦ ἐνίσχυσεν πρὸς θεὸν
Et invaluit ad angelum, et confortatus est ; flevit, et rogavit eum. In Bethel invenit eum, et ibi locutus est nobiscum.
ወጸምዐ፡ ወክህለ፡ ምስለ፡ መልአክ። በከዩ፡ ወተጋነዩ፡ ሊተ፡ በውስተ፡ ቤተ፡ አዎን፡ ኀበ፡ ረከቡኒ፡ ወበሕየ፡ ተናገሩኒ።
Indeed, he struggled with the angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication to him. He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with us—
12:5
וַיָּ֤שַׂר אֶל־מַלְאָךְ֙ וַיֻּכָ֔ל בָּכָ֖ה וַיִּתְחַנֶּן־ל֑וֹ בֵּֽית־אֵל֙ יִמְצָאֶ֔נּוּ וְשָׁ֖ם יְדַבֵּ֥ר עִמָּֽנוּ׃
καὶ ἐνίσχυσεν μετὰ ἀγγέλου καὶ ἠδυνάσθη ἔκλαυσαν καὶ ἐδεήθησάν μου ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Ων εὕροσάν με καὶ ἐκεῖ ἐλαλήθη πρὸς αὐτόν
Et Dominus Deus exercituum, Dominus memoriale ejus.
እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክ፡ ዘኲሎ፡ ይለልክ፡ ተዝካሩ።
even Yahweh, the God of Armies. Yahweh is his name of renown!
12:6
וַיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י הַצְּבָא֑וֹת יְהֹוָ֖ה זִכְרֽוֹ׃
ὁ δὲ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ παντοκράτωρ ἔσται μνημόσυνον αὐτοῦ
Et tu ad Deum tuum converteris ; misericordiam et judicium custodi, et spera in Deo tuo semper.
ወአንተሂ፡ ተመየጥ፡ ኀበ፡ አምላክከ፡ ጽድቅ፡ ወምጽዋ፡ ዕቀብ፡ ወቅረብ፡ ኀበ፡ አምላክከ፡ ኲሎ፡ ጊዜ።
Therefore turn to your God. Keep kindness and justice, and wait continually for your God.
12:7
וְאַתָּ֖ה בֵּאלֹהֶ֣יךָ תָשׁ֑וּב חֶ֤סֶד וּמִשְׁפָּט֙ שְׁמֹ֔ר וְקַוֵּ֥ה אֶל־אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ תָּמִֽיד׃
καὶ σὺ ἐν θεῷ σου ἐπιστρέψεις ἔλεον καὶ κρίμα φυλάσσου καὶ ἔγγιζε πρὸς τὸν θεόν σου διὰ παντός
Chanaan, in manu ejus statera dolosa, calumniam dilexit.
ውስተ፡ እዴሁ፡ ለከነአን፡ መዳወ፡ ዓመፃ፡ ወአፍቀረ፡ ትዕግልተ።
A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.
12:8
כְּנַ֗עַן בְּיָד֛וֹ מֹאזְנֵ֥י מִרְמָ֖ה לַעֲשֹׁ֥ק אָהֵֽב׃
Χανααν ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ ζυγὸς ἀδικίας καταδυναστεύειν ἠγάπησε
Et dixit Ephraim : Verumtamen dives effectus sum ; inveni idolum mihi : omnes labores mei non invenient mihi iniquitatem quam peccavi.
ወይቤ፡ ኤፍሬም፡ ወዳእኩ፡ ብዕልኩ፡ ወረከብኩ፡ ዕረፍት፡ ለነፍስየ። ወእምኲሉ፡ ተግባሩ፡ ኢተረክበ፡ ሎቱ፡ በእነተ፡ ኃጢአት፡ ዘአበሰ።
Ephraim said, “Surely I have become rich. I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”
12:9
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶפְרַ֔יִם אַ֣ךְ עָשַׁ֔רְתִּי מָצָ֥אתִי א֖וֹן לִ֑י כׇּל־יְגִיעַ֕י לֹ֥א יִמְצְאוּ־לִ֖י עָוֺ֥ן אֲשֶׁר־חֵֽטְא׃
καὶ εἶπεν Εφραιμ πλὴν πεπλούτηκα εὕρηκα ἀναψυχὴν ἐμαυτῷ πάντες οἱ πόνοι αὐτοῦ οὐχ εὑρεθήσονται αὐτῷ δῑ ἀδικίας ἃς ἥμαρτεν
Et ego Dominus Deus tuus ex terra Aegypti : adhuc sedere te faciam in tabernaculis, sicut in diebus festivitatis.
ወአነ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክለ፡ ዘአውፃእኩከ፡ እምድረ፡ ግብጽ፡ ወዓዲ፡ እነ፡ አንብረከ፡ ውስተ፡ ተዐይን፡ ከመ፡ አመ፡ መዋዕለ፡ በዐል።
“But I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.
12:10
וְאָנֹכִ֛י יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם עֹ֛ד אוֹשִֽׁיבְךָ֥ בׇאֳהָלִ֖ים כִּימֵ֥י מוֹעֵֽד׃
ἐγὼ δὲ κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἀνήγαγόν σε ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ἔτι κατοικιῶ σε ἐν σκηναῖς καθὼς ἡμέρᾳ ἑορτῆς
Et locutus sum super prophetas, et ego visionem multiplicavi, et in manu prophetarum assimilatus sum.
ወእትናገሮሙ፡ ለነቢያ፡ ወአነ፡ አብዛኀኩ፡ ራዕየ፡ ወተመሰልኩ፡ በእደ፡ ነቢያት።
I have also spoken to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the prophets I have used parables.
12:11
וְדִבַּ֙רְתִּי֙ עַל־הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים וְאָנֹכִ֖י חָז֣וֹן הִרְבֵּ֑יתִי וּבְיַ֥ד הַנְּבִיאִ֖ים אֲדַמֶּֽה׃
καὶ λαλήσω πρὸς προφήτας καὶ ἐγὼ ὁράσεις ἐπλήθυνα καὶ ἐν χερσὶν προφητῶν ὡμοιώθην
Si Galaad idolum, ergo frustra erant in Galgal bobus immolantes ; nam et altaria eorum quasi acervi super sulcos agri.
ሶበ፡ አኮጰ፡ ውሰተ፡ ገለአድ፡ ውእቱ። ወባሕቱ፡ ይስሕቱ፡ መላእክትኒ፡ እለ፡ ይሠውዑ፡ መስዋቲሆሙ፡ መከ፡ ማዕነቅ፡ ውሰተ፡ ሳዕረ፡ ገዳም።
If Gilead is wicked, surely they are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls. Indeed, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the field.
12:12
אִם־גִּלְעָ֥ד אָ֙וֶן֙ אַךְ־שָׁ֣וְא הָי֔וּ בַּגִּלְגָּ֖ל שְׁוָרִ֣ים זִבֵּ֑חוּ גַּ֤ם מִזְבְּחוֹתָם֙ כְּגַלִּ֔ים עַ֖ל תַּלְמֵ֥י שָׂדָֽי׃
εἰ μὴ Γαλααδ ἔστιν ἄρα ψευδεῖς ἦσαν ἐν Γαλγαλ ἄρχοντες θυσιάζοντες καὶ τὰ θυσιαστήρια αὐτῶν ὡς χελῶναι ἐπὶ χέρσον ἀγροῦ
Fugit Jacob in regionem Syriae, et servivit Israël in uxorem, et in uxorem servavit.
ወሖረ፡ ያዕቆብ፡ ውስተ፡ ገዳመ፡ ሶረያ፡ ዋታቃንየ፡ ያዕቆብ፡ በእንተ፡ ብዕሲቱ። ወዐቀባ፡ ለብእሲቱ።
Jacob fled into the country of Aram. Israel served to get a wife. For a wife he tended flocks and herds.
12:13
וַיִּבְרַ֥ח יַעֲקֹ֖ב שְׂדֵ֣ה אֲרָ֑ם וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ד יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּאִשָּׁ֔ה וּבְאִשָּׁ֖ה שָׁמָֽר׃
καὶ ἀνεχώρησεν Ιακωβ εἰς πεδίον Συρίας καὶ ἐδούλευσεν Ισραηλ ἐν γυναικὶ καὶ ἐν γυναικὶ ἐφυλάξατο
In propheta autem eduxit Dominus Israël de Aegypto, et in propheta servatus est.
ወበነቢይ፡ አውፅሶ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለእስራዔል፡ እምድረ፡ ግብፅ፡ ወበነቢይ፡ ተዐቀበ።
By a prophet Yahweh brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.
12:14
וּבְנָבִ֕יא הֶעֱלָ֧ה יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם וּבְנָבִ֖יא נִשְׁמָֽר׃
καὶ ἐν προφήτῃ ἀνήγαγεν κύριος τὸν Ισραηλ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐν προφήτῃ διεφυλάχθη
Ad iracundiam me provocavit Ephraim in amaritudinibus suis : et sanguis ejus super eum veniet, et opprobrium ejus restituet ei Dominus suus.
ተምዕዐ፡ ኤፍሬም፡ ወተቆጥዐ፡ ወደሙሒ፡ ላዕሌሁ፡ ተክዕወ፡ ወኃሳረ፡ ይፈድዩ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
Ephraim has bitterly provoked anger. Therefore his blood will be left on him, and his Lord will repay his contempt.
12:15
הִכְעִ֥יס אֶפְרַ֖יִם תַּמְרוּרִ֑ים וְדָמָיו֙ עָלָ֣יו יִטּ֔וֹשׁ וְחֶ֨רְפָּת֔וֹ יָשִׁ֥יב ל֖וֹ אֲדֹנָֽיו׃
ἐθύμωσεν Εφραιμ καὶ παρώργισεν καὶ τὸ αἷμα αὐτοῦ ἐπ’ αὐτὸν ἐκχυθήσεται καὶ τὸν ὀνειδισμὸν αὐτοῦ ἀνταποδώσει αὐτῷ κύριος

Ephraim has bitterly provoked anger. Therefore his blood will be left on him, and his Lord will repay his contempt.
