36:1
וַיְהִ֡י בְּאַרְבַּע֩ עֶשְׂרֵ֨ה שָׁנָ֜ה לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ חִזְקִיָּ֗הוּ עָלָ֞ה סַנְחֵרִ֤יב מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּר֙ עַ֣ל כׇּל־עָרֵ֧י יְהוּדָ֛ה הַבְּצֻר֖וֹת וַֽיִּתְפְּשֵֽׂם׃
καὶ ἐγένετο τοῦ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτου ἔτους βασιλεύοντος Εζεκιου ἀνέβη Σενναχηριμ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων ἐπὶ τὰς πόλεις τῆς Ιουδαίας τὰς ὀχυρὰς καὶ ἔλαβεν αὐτάς
Et factum est in quartodecimo anno regis Ezechiae, ascendit Sennacherib, rex Assyriorum, super omnes civitates Juda munitas, et cepit eas.
ወአመ፡ ፲ወ፬፡ ዓመተ፡ መንግሥቱ፡ ለሕዝቅያስ፣፡ ዐርገ፡ ሰናክሬም፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ላዕለ፡ አህጉረ፡ ይሁዳ፡ እለ፡ ቦን፡ ጥቅመ፡ ወነሥኦን፡ ወአስተጋብኦን።
Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all of the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.
36:2
וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֣וּר׀ אֶת־רַבְשָׁקֵ֨ה מִלָּכִ֧ישׁ יְרוּשָׁלַ֛͏ְמָה אֶל־הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ בְּחֵ֣יל כָּבֵ֑ד וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֗ד בִּתְעָלַת֙ הַבְּרֵכָ֣ה הָעֶלְיוֹנָ֔ה בִּמְסִלַּ֖ת שְׂדֵ֥ה כוֹבֵֽס׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων Ραψακην ἐκ Λαχις εἰς Ιερουσαλημ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Εζεκιαν μετὰ δυνάμεως πολλῆς καὶ ἔστη ἐν τῷ ὑδραγωγῷ τῆς κολυμβήθρας τῆς ἄνω ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τοῦ ἀγροῦ τοῦ γναφέως
Et misit rex Assyriorum Rabsacen de Lachis in Jerusalem, ad regem Ezechiam in manu gravi : et stetit in aquaeductu piscinae superioris in via Agri fullonis.
ወፈነዎ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ፋርስ፡ ለራፋስቂስ፡ እምለኪስ፡ ውስተ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም፡ ኀበ፡ ሕዝቅያስ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ምስለ፡ ብዙኅ፡ ሠራዊት።
The king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to King Hezekiah with a large army. He stood by the aqueduct from the upper pool in the fuller’s field highway.
36:3
וַיֵּצֵ֥א אֵלָ֛יו אֶלְיָקִ֥ים בֶּן־חִלְקִיָּ֖הוּ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־הַבָּ֑יִת וְשֶׁבְנָא֙ הַסֹּפֵ֔ר וְיוֹאָ֥ח בֶּן־אָסָ֖ף הַמַּזְכִּֽיר׃
καὶ ἐξῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Ελιακιμ ὁ τοῦ Χελκιου ὁ οἰκονόμος καὶ Σομνας ὁ γραμματεὺς καὶ Ιωαχ ὁ τοῦ Ασαφ ὁ ὑπομνηματογράφος
Et egressus est ad eum Eliacim, filius Helciae, qui erat super domum, et Sobna scriba, et Joahe filius Asaph, a commentariis.
ወወፅኡ፡ ኀቤሁ፡ ኤልያቄም፡ ወልደ፡ ኪልቂያስ፡ መጋቢ፡ ወስምናስ፡ ጸሐፊ፡ ወኢዮአቄም፡ ወልደ፡ አሳፍ፡ ጸሐፌ፡ ተዝካር።
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph the recorder came out to him.
36:4
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם֙ רַבְשָׁקֵ֔ה אִמְרוּ־נָ֖א אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ כֹּֽה־אָמַ֞ר הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ הַגָּדוֹל֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר מָ֧ה הַבִּטָּח֛וֹן הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּטָֽחְתָּ׃
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ραψακης εἴπατε Εζεκια τάδε λέγει ὁ βασιλεὺς ὁ μέγας βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων τί πεποιθὼς εἶ
Et dixit ad eos Rabsaces : Dicite Ezechiae : Haec dicit rex magnus, rex Assyriorum : Quae est ista fiducia qua confidis ?
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ራፋስቂስ፤ በልዎ፡ ለሕዝቅያስ፤ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ዓቢይ፤ በመኑአ፡ ትትዌከል።
Rabshakeh said to them, “Now tell Hezekiah, ‘The great king, the king of Assyria, says, “What confidence is this in which you trust?
36:5
אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ אַךְ־דְּבַר־שְׂפָתַ֔יִם עֵצָ֥ה וּגְבוּרָ֖ה לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה עַתָּה֙ עַל־מִ֣י בָטַ֔חְתָּ כִּ֥י מָרַ֖דְתָּ בִּֽי׃
μὴ ἐν βουλῇ ἢ λόγοις χειλέων παράταξις γίνεται καὶ νῦν ἐπὶ τίνι πέποιθας ὅτι ἀπειθεῖς μοι
aut quo consilio vel fortitudine rebellare disponis ? super quem habes fiduciam, quia recessisti a me ?
በምክርከኑ፡ ወበነገረ፡ ከናፍሪከኑአ፡ ይከውን፡ ቀትል፤ ወይእዜኒአ፡ በመኑአ፡ ተወኪለከ፡ ወለውከኒአ።
I say that your counsel and strength for the war are only vain words. Now in whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?
36:6
הִנֵּ֣ה בָטַ֡חְתָּ עַל־מִשְׁעֶ֩נֶת֩ הַקָּנֶ֨ה הָרָצ֤וּץ הַזֶּה֙ עַל־מִצְרַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִסָּמֵ֥ךְ אִישׁ֙ עָלָ֔יו וּבָ֥א בְכַפּ֖וֹ וּנְקָבָ֑הּ כֵּ֚ן פַּרְעֹ֣ה מֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֔יִם לְכׇֽל־הַבֹּטְחִ֖ים עָלָֽיו׃
ἰδοὺ πεποιθὼς εἶ ἐπὶ τὴν ῥάβδον τὴν καλαμίνην τὴν τεθλασμένην ταύτην ἐπ’ Αἴγυπτον ὃς ἂν ἐπ’ αὐτὴν ἐπιστηρισθῇ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ οὕτως ἐστὶν Φαραω βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου καὶ πάντες οἱ πεποιθότες ἐπ’ αὐτῷ
Ecce confidis super baculum arundineum confractum istum, super Aegyptum ; cui si innixus fuerit homo, intrabit in manum ejus, et perforabit eam : sic Pharao, rex Aegypti, omnibus qui confidunt in eo.
ናሁአ፡ ተወከልከአ፡ በበትረ፡ ብርዕ፡ ቅጥቁጥ፡ እንተ፡ በግብጽ፡ ዘአስመከ፡ ብእሲ፡ ላዕሌሃ፣፡ ይበውእ፡ ስርዋጽ፡ ውስተ፡ እዴሁ፤ ከማሁ፡ ውእቱ፡ ፈርኦን፡ ንጉሠ፡ ግብጽ፡ ወኵሎሙ፡ እለ፡ ይትዌከሉ፡ ቦቱ።
Behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt, which if a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.
36:7
וְכִֽי־תֹאמַ֣ר אֵלַ֔י אֶל־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ בָּטָ֑חְנוּ הֲלוֹא־ה֗וּא אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֵסִ֤יר חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ אֶת־בָּמֹתָ֣יו וְאֶת־מִזְבְּחֹתָ֔יו וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לִיהוּדָה֙ וְלִיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם לִפְנֵ֛י הַמִּזְבֵּ֥חַ הַזֶּ֖ה תִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃
εἰ δὲ λέγετε ἐπὶ κύριον τὸν θεὸν ἡμῶν πεποίθαμεν
Quod si responderis mihi : In Domino Deo nostro confidimus ; nonne ipse est cujus abstulit Ezechias excelsa et altaria, et dixit Judae et Jerusalem : Coram altari isto adorabitis ?
ወእመሰ፡ ትብሉሁ፤ በእግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክነ፡ ተወከልነ።
But if you tell me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God,’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar’?”
36:8
וְעַתָּה֙ הִתְעָ֣רֶב נָ֔א אֶת־אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֑וּר וְאֶתְּנָ֤ה לְךָ֙ אַלְפַּ֣יִם סוּסִ֔ים אִם־תּוּכַ֕ל לָ֥תֶת לְךָ֖ רֹכְבִ֥ים עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃
νῦν μείχθητε τῷ κυρίῳ μου τῷ βασιλεῖ Ἀσσυρίων καὶ δώσω ὑμῖν δισχιλίαν ἵππον εἰ δυνήσεσθε δοῦναι ἀναβάτας ἐπ’ αὐτούς
Et nunc trade te domino meo, regi Assyriorum, et dabo tibi duo millia equorum, nec poteris ex te praebere ascensores eorum :
ይእዜኒ፡ ግብኡ፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚእየ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ ወእሁበክሙ፡ ዕሥራ፡ ምእተ፡ አፍራሰ፡ እመ፡ ትክሉ፡ አምጽኦ፡ ዘይፄዐኖሙ።
Now therefore, please make a pledge to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.
36:9
וְאֵ֣יךְ תָּשִׁ֗יב אֵ֠ת פְּנֵ֨י פַחַ֥ת אַחַ֛ד עַבְדֵ֥י אֲדֹנִ֖י הַקְּטַנִּ֑ים וַתִּבְטַ֤ח לְךָ֙ עַל־מִצְרַ֔יִם לְרֶ֖כֶב וּלְפָרָשִֽׁים׃
καὶ πῶς δύνασθε ἀποστρέψαι εἰς πρόσωπον τοπάρχου ἑνός οἰκέται εἰσὶν οἱ πεποιθότες ἐπ’ Αἰγυπτίοις εἰς ἵππον καὶ ἀναβάτην
et quomodo sustinebis faciem judicis unius loci ex servis domini mei minoribus ? Quod si confidis in Aegypto, in quadrigis et in equitibus,
እፎ፡ እንከ፡ ትክሉ፡ ተሠውጦ፡ ኀበ፡ መኳንንት፤ ኵሎሙ፡ እለ፡ ይትዌከሉ፡ በግብጽ፡ አግብርት፡ እሙንቱ፡ በአፍራሲሆሙ፡ ወመስተፅዕናን።
How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put your trust in Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
36:10
וְעַתָּה֙ הֲמִבַּלְעֲדֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה עָלִ֛יתִי עַל־הָאָ֥רֶץ הַזֹּ֖את לְהַשְׁחִיתָ֑הּ יְהֹוָה֙ אָמַ֣ר אֵלַ֔י עֲלֵ֛ה אֶל־הָאָ֥רֶץ הַזֹּ֖את וְהַשְׁחִיתָֽהּ׃ {ס}
καὶ νῦν μὴ ἄνευ κυρίου ἀνέβημεν ἐπὶ τὴν χώραν ταύτην πολεμῆσαι αὐτήν
et nunc numquid sine Domino ascendi ad terram istam, ut disperderem eam ? Dominus dixit ad me : Ascende super terram istam, et disperde eam.
ወይእዜኒ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ እግዚአብሔርኑ፡ ዐረግነ፡ ውስተዝ፡ ብሔርክሙ፡ ከመ፡ ንቅትልክሙ፤ እስመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ይቤለኒ፤ ዕርግ፡ ውስተ፡ ብሔሮሙ፡ ወቅትሎሙ።
Have I come up now without Yahweh against this land to destroy it? Yahweh said to me, “Go up against this land, and destroy it.”’”
36:11
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶלְיָקִים֩ וְשֶׁבְנָ֨א וְיוֹאָ֜ח אֶל־רַבְשָׁקֵ֗ה דַּבֶּר־נָ֤א אֶל־עֲבָדֶ֙יךָ֙ אֲרָמִ֔ית כִּ֥י שֹׁמְעִ֖ים אֲנָ֑חְנוּ וְאַל־תְּדַבֵּ֤ר אֵלֵ֙ינוּ֙ יְהוּדִ֔ית בְּאׇזְנֵ֣י הָעָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־הַחוֹמָֽה׃
καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Ελιακιμ καὶ Σομνας καὶ Ιωαχ λάλησον πρὸς τοὺς παῖδάς σου Συριστί ἀκούομεν γὰρ ἡμεῖς καὶ μὴ λάλει πρὸς ἡμᾶς Ιουδαϊστί καὶ ἵνα τί λαλεῖς εἰς τὰ ὦτα τῶν ἀνθρώπων τῶν ἐπὶ τῷ τείχει
Et dixit Eliacim, et Sobna, et Joahe, ad Rabsacen : Loquere ad servos tuos syra lingua ; intelligimus enim ; ne loquaris ad nos judaice in auribus populi qui est super murum.
ወይቤልዎ፡ ኤልያቄም፡ ወስምናስ፡ ወኢዮአቄም፡ ለራፋስቂስ፤ ንግሮሙ፡ ለአግብርቲከ፡ ሶርስተ፡ እስመ፡ ንሰምዕ፡ ወኢትንግረነ፡ በዕብራይስጢ፡ ወለምንት፡ ትነግር፡ በዘይሰምዑ፡ እሉ፡ ሰብእ፡ እለ፡ ዲበ፡ አረፍት።
Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, for we understand it. Don’t speak to us in the Jews’ language in the hearing of the people who are on the wall.”
36:12
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר רַבְשָׁקֵ֗ה הַאֶ֨ל אֲדֹנֶ֤יךָ וְאֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ שְׁלָחַ֣נִי אֲדֹנִ֔י לְדַבֵּ֖ר אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה הֲלֹ֣א עַל־הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים הַיֹּֽשְׁבִים֙ עַל־הַ֣חוֹמָ֔ה לֶאֱכֹ֣ל אֶת־[צוֹאָתָ֗ם] (חראיהם) וְלִשְׁתּ֛וֹת אֶת־[מֵימֵ֥י רַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם] (שיניהם) עִמָּכֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ραψακης πρὸς αὐτούς μὴ πρὸς τὸν κύριον ὑμῶν ἢ πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἀπέσταλκέν με ὁ κύριός μου λαλῆσαι τοὺς λόγους τούτους οὐχὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἀνθρώπους τοὺς καθημένους ἐπὶ τῷ τείχει ἵνα φάγωσιν κόπρον καὶ πίωσιν οὖρον μεθ’ ὑμῶν ἅμα
Et dixit ad eos Rabsaces : Numquid ad dominum tuum et ad te misit me dominus meus, ut loquerer omnia verba ista ? et non potius ad viros qui sedent in muro, ut comedant stercora sua, et bibant urinam pedum suorum vobiscum ?
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ራፋስቂስ፤ ቦኑ፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚእክሙ፡ ወኀቤክሙ፡ ፈነወኒ፡ እግዚእየ፤ አኮኑ፡ ኀበ፡ እሉ፡ ሰብእ፡ ከመ፡ እንግሮሙ፡ ዘንተ፡ ነገረ፡ ለእለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ዲበ፡ አረፍት፡ ከመ፡ ይብልዑ፡ ኵስሖሙ፡ ወይስተዩ፡ ሥንቶሙ፡ ምስሌክሙ፡ ኅቡረ።
But Rabshakeh said, “Has my master sent me only to your master and to you, to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, who will eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?”
36:13
וַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙ רַבְשָׁקֵ֔ה וַיִּקְרָ֥א בְקוֹל־גָּד֖וֹל יְהוּדִ֑ית וַיֹּ֕אמֶר שִׁמְע֗וּ אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֛י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ הַגָּד֖וֹל מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃
καὶ ἔστη Ραψακης καὶ ἐβόησεν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ Ιουδαϊστὶ καὶ εἶπεν ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους τοῦ βασιλέως τοῦ μεγάλου βασιλέως Ἀσσυρίων
Et stetit Rabsaces, et clamavit voce magna judaice, et dixit : Audite verba regis magni, regis Assyriorum !
ወቆመ፡ ራፋስቂስ፡ ወከልሐ፡ በዓቢይ፡ ቃል፡ በነገረ፡ ዕብራይስጢ፡ ወይቤ፤ ስምዑ፡ ቃሎ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ዓቢይ፣፡ ለንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ።
Then Rabshakeh stood, and called out with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, “Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!
36:14
כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אַל־יַשִּׁ֥א לָכֶ֖ם חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ כִּ֥י לֹֽא־יוּכַ֖ל לְהַצִּ֥יל אֶתְכֶֽם׃
τάδε λέγει ὁ βασιλεύς μὴ ἀπατάτω ὑμᾶς Εζεκιας λόγοις οἳ οὐ δυνήσονται ῥύσασθαι ὑμᾶς
Haec dicit rex : Non seducat vos Ezechias, quia non poterit eruere vos.
ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ ንጉሥ፤ ኢያስሕትክሙ፡ ሕዝቅያስ፡ በነገር፡ ዘኢይክል፡ አድኅኖተክሙ።
The king says, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you.
36:15
וְאַל־יַבְטַ֨ח אֶתְכֶ֤ם חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ אֶל־יְהֹוָ֣ה לֵאמֹ֔ר הַצֵּ֥ל יַצִּילֵ֖נוּ יְהֹוָ֑ה לֹ֤א תִנָּתֵן֙ הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֔את בְּיַ֖ד מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃
καὶ μὴ λεγέτω ὑμῖν Εζεκιας ὅτι ῥύσεται ὑμᾶς ὁ θεός καὶ οὐ μὴ παραδοθῇ ἡ πόλις αὕτη ἐν χειρὶ βασιλέως Ἀσσυρίων
Et non vobis tribuat fiduciam Ezechias super Domino, dicens : Eruens liberabit nos Dominus : non dabitur civitas ista in manu regis Assyriorum.
ወኢይበልክሙ፡ ሕዝቅያስ፡ አምላክክሙ፡ ያድኅነክሙ፤ ወኢትገብእ፡ ዛቲ፡ ሀገር፡ ውስተ፡ እዴሁ፡ ለንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ።
Don’t let Hezekiah make you trust in Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh will surely deliver us. This city won’t be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”’
36:16
אַֽל־תִּשְׁמְע֖וּ אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ {פ} כִּי֩ כֹ֨ה אָמַ֜ר הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֗וּר עֲשֽׂוּ־אִתִּ֤י בְרָכָה֙ וּצְא֣וּ אֵלַ֔י וְאִכְל֤וּ אִישׁ־גַּפְנוֹ֙ וְאִ֣ישׁ תְּאֵנָת֔וֹ וּשְׁת֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ מֵי־בוֹרֽוֹ׃
μὴ ἀκούετε Εζεκιου τάδε λέγει ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων εἰ βούλεσθε εὐλογηθῆναι ἐκπορεύεσθε πρός με καὶ φάγεσθε ἕκαστος τὴν ἄμπελον αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς συκᾶς καὶ πίεσθε ὕδωρ τοῦ λάκκου ὑμῶν
Nolite audire Ezechiam ; haec enim dicit rex Assyriorum : Facite mecum benedictionem, et egredimini ad me, et comedite unusquisque vineam suam, et unusquisque ficum suam, et bibite unusquisque aquam cisternae suae,
ወኢትስምዕዎ፡ ለሕዝቅያስ።
Don’t listen to Hezekiah, for the king of Assyria says, ‘Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and each of you eat from his vine, and each one from his fig tree, and each one of you drink the waters of his own cistern;
36:17
עַד־בֹּאִ֕י וְלָקַחְתִּ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ כְּאַרְצְכֶ֑ם אֶ֤רֶץ דָּגָן֙ וְתִיר֔וֹשׁ אֶ֥רֶץ לֶ֖חֶם וּכְרָמִֽים׃
ἕως ἂν ἔλθω καὶ λάβω ὑμᾶς εἰς γῆν ὡς ἡ γῆ ὑμῶν γῆ σίτου καὶ οἴνου καὶ ἄρτων καὶ ἀμπελώνων
donec veniam, et tollam vos ad terram quae est ut terra vestra, terram frumenti et vini, terram panum et vinearum.
እስከ፡ እመጽእ፡ ወእነሥአክሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ብሔርየ፡ ዘከመ፡ ብሔርክሙአ፣፡ ብሔረ፡ እክል፡ ወወይን፡ ወስርናይ፡ ወዐፀደ፡ ወይንአ።
until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
36:18
פֶּן־יַסִּ֨ית אֶתְכֶ֤ם חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר יְהֹוָ֖ה יַצִּילֵ֑נוּ הַהִצִּ֜ילוּ אֱלֹהֵ֤י הַגּוֹיִם֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶת־אַרְצ֔וֹ מִיַּ֖ד מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃
μὴ ὑμᾶς ἀπατάτω Εζεκιας λέγων ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ῥύσεται ὑμᾶς μὴ ἐρρύσαντο οἱ θεοὶ τῶν ἐθνῶν ἕκαστος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ χώραν ἐκ χειρὸς βασιλέως Ἀσσυρίων
Nec conturbet vos Ezechias, dicens : Dominus liberabit nos. Numquid liberaverunt dii gentium unusquisque terram suam de manu regis Assyriorum ?
ኢያስሕትክሙአ፡ ሕዝቅያስ፡ በነገር፡ ወኢይበልክሙ፤ እግዚአብሔር፡ ያድኅሠንክሙ።
Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, “Yahweh will deliver us.” Have any of the gods of the nations delivered their lands from the hand of the king of Assyria?
36:19
אַיֵּ֞ה אֱלֹהֵ֤י חֲמָת֙ וְאַרְפָּ֔ד אַיֵּ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י סְפַרְוָ֑יִם וְכִֽי־הִצִּ֥ילוּ אֶת־שֹׁמְר֖וֹן מִיָּדִֽי׃
ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ θεὸς Αιμαθ καὶ Αρφαθ καὶ ποῦ ὁ θεὸς τῆς πόλεως Σεπφαριμ μὴ ἐδύναντο ῥύσασθαι Σαμάρειαν ἐκ χειρός μου
Ubi est deus Emath et Arphad ? ubi est deus Sepharvaim ? numquid liberaverunt Samariam de manu mea ?
አይቴ፡ ውእቱ፡ አምላከ፡ ሒማት፡ ወአርፋት፤ ወአይቴ፡ ውእቱ፡ አምላከ፡ ሀገረ፡ ሴፋርሄም፤ ክህሉኑ፡ አድኅኖታ፡ ለሰማርያ፡ እምእዴየ።
Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand?
36:20
מִ֗י בְּכׇל־אֱלֹהֵ֤י הָאֲרָצוֹת֙ הָאֵ֔לֶּה אֲשֶׁר־הִצִּ֥ילוּ אֶת־אַרְצָ֖ם מִיָּדִ֑י כִּֽי־יַצִּ֧יל יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם מִיָּדִֽי׃
τίς τῶν θεῶν πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν τούτων ἐρρύσατο τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς χειρός μου ὅτι ῥύσεται ὁ θεὸς Ιερουσαλημ ἐκ χειρός μου
Quis est ex omnibus diis terrarum istarum qui eruerit terram suam de manu mea, ut eruat Dominus Jerusalem de manu mea ?
መኑ፡ እንከ፡ እምኵሉ፡ አማልክተ፡ አሕዛብ፡ ዘአድኀነ፡ ብሔሮ፡ እምእዴየ፡ ከመ፡ ያድኅና፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም፡ እምእዴየ።
Who are they among all the gods of these countries that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Yahweh should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?’”
36:21
וַֽיַּחֲרִ֔ישׁוּ וְלֹא־עָנ֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ דָּבָ֑ר כִּֽי־מִצְוַ֨ת הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ הִ֛יא לֵאמֹ֖ר לֹ֥א תַעֲנֻֽהוּ׃
καὶ ἐσιώπησαν καὶ οὐδεὶς ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ λόγον διὰ τὸ προστάξαι τὸν βασιλέα μηδένα ἀποκριθῆναι
Et siluerunt, et non responderunt ei verbum. Mandaverat enim rex, dicens : Ne respondeatis ei.
ወአርመሙ፡ ወኢተሠጥውዎ፡ ቃለ፡ እስመ፡ አዘዘ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ከመ፡ ኢይሠጠውዎ፡ ቃለ።
But they remained silent, and said nothing in reply, for the king’s commandment was, “Don’t answer him.”
36:22
וַיָּבֹ֣א אֶלְיָקִ֣ים בֶּן־חִלְקִיָּ֣הוּ אֲשֶׁר־עַל־הַ֠בַּ֠יִת וְשֶׁבְנָ֨א הַסֹּפֵ֜ר וְיוֹאָ֨ח בֶּן־אָסָ֧ף הַמַּזְכִּ֛יר אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ קְרוּעֵ֣י בְגָדִ֑ים וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ ל֔וֹ אֵ֖ת דִּבְרֵ֥י רַבְשָׁקֵֽה׃ {ס}
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Ελιακιμ ὁ τοῦ Χελκιου ὁ οἰκονόμος καὶ Σομνας ὁ γραμματεὺς τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ Ιωαχ ὁ τοῦ Ασαφ ὁ ὑπομνηματογράφος πρὸς Εζεκιαν ἐσχισμένοι τοὺς χιτῶνας καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν αὐτῷ τοὺς λόγους Ραψακου
Et ingressus est Eliacim, filius Helciae, qui erat super domum, et Sobna scriba, et Joahe filius Asaph, a commentariis, ad Ezechiam, scissis vestibus, et nuntiaverunt ei verba Rabsacis.
ወቦኡ፡ ኤልያቄም፡ ወልደ፡ ኪልቂያስ፡ መጋቢ፡ ወስምናስ፡ ጸሐፌ፡ ሠራዊት፡ ወኢዮአቄም፡ ወልደ፡ አሳፍ፡ ጸሐፌ፡ ተዝካር፡ ኀበ፡ ሕዝቅያስ፡ እንዘ፡ ሥጡጥ፡ አልባሲሆሙ፡ ወነገርዎ፡ ነገረ፡ ራፋስቂስ።
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
