14:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֲשֶׁ֨ר הָיָ֤ה דְבַר ־יְהֹוָה֙ אֶֽל ־יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ עַל ־דִּבְרֵ֖י הַבַּצָּרֽוֹת ׃
καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς Ιερεμιαν περὶ τῆς ἀβροχίας
Quod factum est verbum Domini ad Jeremiam , de sermonibus siccitatis .
ቃል ፡ ዘኮነ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኤርምያስ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በእንተ ፡ ዐባረ ፡ ዝናም ።
This is Yahweh’s word that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:
14:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ אָבְלָ֣ה יְהוּדָ֔ה וּשְׁעָרֶ֥יהָ אֻמְלְל֖וּ קָדְר֣וּ לָאָ֑רֶץ וְצִוְחַ֥ת יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם עָלָֽתָה ׃
ἐπένθησεν ἡ Ιουδαία καὶ αἱ πύλαι αὐτῆς ἐκενώθησαν καὶ ἐσκοτώθησαν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἡ κραυγὴ τῆς Ιερουσαλημ ἀνέβη
Luxit Judaea , et portae ejus corruerunt , et obscuratae sunt in terra , et clamor Jerusalem ascendit .
ወይቤ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ዝ ፡ ሀለወት ፡ ምድር ፡ ዘይሁዳ ፡ ወጸልመ ፡ ላዕለለ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወአርገ ፡ አውያቲሃ ፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም ።
“Judah mourns, and its gates languish. They sit in black on the ground. The cry of Jerusalem goes up.
14:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאַדִּ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם שָׁלְח֥וּ (צעוריהם ) [צְעִֽירֵיהֶ֖ם ] לַמָּ֑יִם בָּ֣אוּ עַל ־גֵּבִ֞ים לֹא ־מָ֣צְאוּ מַ֗יִם שָׁ֤בוּ כְלֵיהֶם֙ רֵיקָ֔ם בֹּ֥שׁוּ וְהׇכְלְמ֖וּ וְחָפ֥וּ רֹאשָֽׁם ׃
καὶ οἱ μεγιστᾶνες αὐτῆς ἀπέστειλαν τοὺς νεωτέρους αὐτῶν ἐφ’ ὕδωρ ἤλθοσαν ἐπὶ τὰ φρέατα καὶ οὐχ εὕροσαν ὕδωρ καὶ ἀπέστρεψαν τὰ ἀγγεῖα αὐτῶν κενά
Majores miserunt minores suos ad aquam : venerunt ad hauriendum . Non invenerunt aquam : reportaverunt vasa sua vacua . Confusi sunt , et afflicti , et operuerunt capita sua .
ወፈለዉ ፡ መኳንንቲሃ ፡ መሐዛቲሆሙ ፡ መንገለ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ወሆሩ ፡ ኀበ ፡ አዘቅት ፡ ወኢረለቡ ፡ ማየ ፡ ወአሦጡ ፡ ቀሳውስቲሆሙ ፡ ዕራቆሙ ፡ ኀሥሩ ፡ ወተኀፍሩ ።
Their nobles send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.
14:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ בַּעֲב֤וּר הָֽאֲדָמָה֙ חַ֔תָּה כִּ֛י לֹא ־הָיָ֥ה גֶ֖שֶׁם בָּאָ֑רֶץ בֹּ֥שׁוּ אִכָּרִ֖ים חָפ֥וּ רֹאשָֽׁם ׃
καὶ τὰ ἔργα τῆς γῆς ἐξέλιπεν ὅτι οὐκ ἦν ὑετός ᾐσχύνθησαν γεωργοί ἐπεκάλυψαν τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτῶν
Propter terrae vastitatem , quia non venit pluvia in terram , confusi sunt agricolae : operuerunt capita sua .
ወተገልበቡ ፡ ርእሶሙ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ተግባረ ፡ ምድር ፡ ዘኀልቀ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘዝናም ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ተኀፍሩ ፡ ሐረስት ፡ ወገልበቡ ፡ ርእሶሙ ።
Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.
14:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֤י גַם ־אַיֶּ֙לֶת֙ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה יָלְדָ֖ה וְעָז֑וֹב כִּ֥י לֹֽא ־הָיָ֖ה דֶּֽשֶׁא ׃
καὶ ἔλαφοι ἐν ἀγρῷ ἔτεκον καὶ ἐγκατέλιπον ὅτι οὐκ ἦν βοτάνη
Nam et cerva in agro peperit , et reliquit , quia non erat herba .
ወኀየላትኒ ፡ ወለዳ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ወኀደጋ ፡ ዕጐሊሆን ፡ እስመ ፡ አልቦ ፡ ኀሣር ።
Yes, the doe in the field also calves and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.
14:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּפְרָאִים֙ עָמְד֣וּ עַל ־שְׁפָיִ֔ם שָׁאֲפ֥וּ ר֖וּחַ כַּתַּנִּ֑ים כָּל֥וּ עֵינֵיהֶ֖ם כִּי ־אֵ֥ין עֵֽשֶׂב ׃
ὄνοι ἄγριοι ἔστησαν ἐπὶ νάπας εἵλκυσαν ἄνεμον ἐξέλιπον οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτῶν ὅτι οὐκ ἦν χόρτος ἀπὸ λαοῦ ἀδικίας
Et onagri steterunt in rupibus ; traxerunt ventum quasi dracones : defecerunt oculi eorum , quia non erat herba .
ሐለስትዮታኒ ፡ ቆሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ በድው ፡ ወአብቀዉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ነፋስ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሰገኖ ፡ ወደደክማ ፡ አዕይንቲሆሙ ፡ ኀጢአሙ ፡ ሣዕረ ።
The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail, because there is no vegetation.
14:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ אִם ־עֲוֺנֵ֙ינוּ֙ עָ֣נוּ בָ֔נוּ יְהֹוָ֕ה עֲשֵׂ֖ה לְמַ֣עַן שְׁמֶ֑ךָ כִּי ־רַבּ֥וּ מְשׁוּבֹתֵ֖ינוּ לְךָ֥ חָטָֽאנוּ ׃
εἰ αἱ ἁμαρτίαι ἡμῶν ἀντέστησαν ἡμῖν κύριε ποίησον ἡμῖν ἕνεκεν σοῦ ὅτι πολλαὶ αἱ ἁμαρτίαι ἡμῶν ἐναντίον σοῦ ὅτι σοὶ ἡμάρτομεν
Si iniquitates nostrae responderint nobis , Domine , fac propter nomen tuum : quoniam multae sunt aversiones nostrae : tibi peccavimus .
ኀጢአተነ ፡ ተቃወመነ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ እስመ ፡ በዝኀ ፡ ኀጢአተነ ፡ በቅድሜከ ፡ ወለከ ፡ አበስነ ።
Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, Yahweh; for our rebellions are many. We have sinned against you.
14:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ מִקְוֵה֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מוֹשִׁיע֖וֹ בְּעֵ֣ת צָרָ֑ה לָ֤מָּה תִֽהְיֶה֙ כְּגֵ֣ר בָּאָ֔רֶץ וּכְאֹרֵ֖חַ נָטָ֥ה לָלֽוּן ׃
ὑπομονὴ Ισραηλ κύριε καὶ σῴζεις ἐν καιρῷ κακῶν ἵνα τί ἐγενήθης ὡσεὶ πάροικος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ὡς αὐτόχθων ἐκκλίνων εἰς κατάλυμα
Exspectatio Israël , salvator ejus in tempore tribulationis , quare quasi colonus futurus es in terra , et quasi viator declinans ad manendum ?
ወጸንሑ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ መድኀኒተ ፡ በእለተ ፡ ምንዳቤ ፡ ለምንት ፡ ኮንከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ፈላሲ ፡ በዲበ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወከመ ፡ ነግድ ፡ ተግህሥከ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ማኅደር ።
You hope of Israel, its Savior in the time of trouble, why should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?
14:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָ֤מָּה תִֽהְיֶה֙ כְּאִ֣ישׁ נִדְהָ֔ם כְּגִבּ֖וֹר לֹא ־יוּכַ֣ל לְהוֹשִׁ֑יעַ וְאַתָּ֧ה בְקִרְבֵּ֣נוּ יְהֹוָ֗ה וְשִׁמְךָ֛ עָלֵ֥ינוּ נִקְרָ֖א אַל ־תַּנִּחֵֽנוּ ׃ {ס}
μὴ ἔσῃ ὥσπερ ἄνθρωπος ὑπνῶν ἢ ὡς ἀνὴρ οὐ δυνάμενος σῴζειν καὶ σὺ ἐν ἡμῖν εἶ κύριε καὶ τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐπικέκληται ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς μὴ ἐπιλάθῃ ἡμῶν
quare futurus es velut vir vagus , ut fortis qui non potest salvare ? Tu autem in nobis es , Domine , et nomen tuum invocatum est super nos : ne derelinquas nos .
ለምንት ፡ ትከውን ፡ ከመ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ዘይነውም ፡ ወከመ ፡ ዕጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፡ ዘኢይክል ፡ አድኅኖ ፡ ወአንተሰ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ሀሎከ ፡ ማዕከሌነ ፡ ወስምከሂ ፡ ተሰምየ ፡ በላዕለሌነ ፡ ወኢትርሥዓነ ።
Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can’t save? Yet you, Yahweh, are in the middle of us, and we are called by your name. Don’t leave us.
14:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ כֹּה ־אָמַ֨ר יְהֹוָ֜ה לָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֗ה כֵּ֤ן אָֽהֲבוּ֙ לָנ֔וּעַ רַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם לֹ֣א חָשָׂ֑כוּ וַֽיהֹוָה֙ לֹ֣א רָצָ֔ם עַתָּה֙ יִזְכֹּ֣ר עֲוֺנָ֔ם וְיִפְקֹ֖ד חַטֹּאתָֽם ׃ {פ}
οὕτως λέγει κύριος τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ ἠγάπησαν κινεῖν πόδας αὐτῶν καὶ οὐκ ἐφείσαντο καὶ ὁ θεὸς οὐκ εὐδόκησεν ἐν αὐτοῖς νῦν μνησθήσεται τῶν ἀδικιῶν αὐτῶν
Haec dicit Dominus populo huic , qui dilexit movere pedes suos , et non quievit , et Domino non placuit : Nunc recordabitur iniquitatum eorum , et visitabit peccata eorum .
ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኢይትሐከዩ ፡ ወእግዚአብሔርኒ ፡ ኢይፈቅዶሙ ፡ ወይእዜሂይዜከር ፡ ኀጢአቶሙ ፡ ወይሔውጸ ፡ ጌጋዮሙ ።
Yahweh says to this people: “Even so they have loved to wander. They have not restrained their feet. Therefore Yahweh does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish them for their sins.”
14:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֵלָ֑י אַל ־תִּתְפַּלֵּ֛ל בְּעַד ־הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה לְטוֹבָֽה ׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με μὴ προσεύχου περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου εἰς ἀγαθά
Et dixit Dominus ad me : Noli orare pro populo isto in bonum .
ወይቤለኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኢትጸሊ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ለዝ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ሠናይ ።
Yahweh said to me, “Don’t pray for this people for their good.
14:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֣י יָצֻ֗מוּ אֵינֶ֤נִּי שֹׁמֵ֙עַ֙ אֶל ־רִנָּתָ֔ם וְכִ֧י יַעֲל֛וּ עֹלָ֥ה וּמִנְחָ֖ה אֵינֶ֣נִּי רֹצָ֑ם כִּ֗י בַּחֶ֙רֶב֙ וּבָרָעָ֣ב וּבַדֶּ֔בֶר אָנֹכִ֖י מְכַלֶּ֥ה אוֹתָֽם ׃ {ס}
ὅτι ἐὰν νηστεύσωσιν οὐκ εἰσακούσομαι τῆς δεήσεως αὐτῶν καὶ ἐὰν προσενέγκωσιν ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ θυσίας οὐκ εὐδοκήσω ἐν αὐτοῖς ὅτι ἐν μαχαίρᾳ καὶ ἐν λιμῷ καὶ ἐν θανάτῳ ἐγὼ συντελέσω αὐτούς
Cum jejunaverint , non exaudiam preces eorum , et si obtulerint holocautomata et victimas , non suscipiam ea : quoniam gladio , et fame , et peste consumam eos .
እስመ ፡ እመሂ ፡ ጾሙ ፡ ኢይሰምዖሙ ፡ ምህላሆሙ ፡ ወእመሂ ፡ አብኡ ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ ወቊራባነ ፡ ኢይሠሃሎሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ በኲናት ፡ ወበረኀብ ፡ ወበብድብድ ፡ አጠፍዖሙ ፡ አነ ።
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.”
14:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וָאֹמַ֞ר אֲהָ֣הּ ׀ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֗ה הִנֵּ֨ה הַנְּבִאִ֜ים אֹמְרִ֤ים לָהֶם֙ לֹא ־תִרְא֣וּ חֶ֔רֶב וְרָעָ֖ב לֹֽא ־יִהְיֶ֣ה לָכֶ֑ם כִּֽי ־שְׁל֤וֹם אֱמֶת֙ אֶתֵּ֣ן לָכֶ֔ם בַּמָּק֖וֹם הַזֶּֽה ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπα ὦ κύριε ἰδοὺ οἱ προφῆται αὐτῶν προφητεύουσιν καὶ λέγουσιν οὐκ ὄψεσθε μάχαιραν οὐδὲ λιμὸς ἔσται ἐν ὑμῖν ὅτι ἀλήθειαν καὶ εἰρήνην δώσω ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ
Et dixi : A , a , a , Domine Deus : prophetae dicunt eis : Non videbitis gladium , et fames non erit in vobis : sed pacem veram dabit vobis in loco isto .
ወእቤ ፡ አነ ፡ አሌ ፡ ሊተ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ነቢያት ፡ ዓላውያን ፡ ይቤልዎሙ ፡ ኢይረክበክሙ ፡ ኲናት ፡ ወረኀብ ፡ ወብድብድ ፡ ወኢይመጽአክሙ ፡ ዳዕሙ ፡ ሰላመ ፡ ወጽድቀ ፡ እሁብ ፡ ለዝ ፡ ሕዝብ ።
Then I said, “Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, the prophets tell them, ‘You will not see the sword, neither will you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”
14:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י שֶׁ֚קֶר הַנְּבִאִים֙ נִבְּאִ֣ים בִּשְׁמִ֔י לֹ֤א שְׁלַחְתִּים֙ וְלֹ֣א צִוִּיתִ֔ים וְלֹ֥א דִבַּ֖רְתִּי אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם חֲז֨וֹן שֶׁ֜קֶר וְקֶ֤סֶם (ואלול ותרמות ) [וֶאֱלִיל֙ וְתַרְמִ֣ית ] לִבָּ֔ם הֵ֖מָּה מִֽתְנַבְּאִ֥ים לָכֶֽם ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με ψευδῆ οἱ προφῆται προφητεύουσιν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου οὐκ ἀπέστειλα αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐκ ἐνετειλάμην αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐκ ἐλάλησα πρὸς αὐτούς ὅτι ὁράσεις ψευδεῖς καὶ μαντείας καὶ οἰωνίσματα καὶ προαιρέσεις καρδίας αὐτῶν αὐτοὶ προφητεύουσιν ὑμῖν
Et dicit Dominus ad me : Falso prophetae vaticinantur in nomine meo : non misi eos , et non praecepi eis , neque locutus sum ad eos . Visionem mendacem , et divinationem , et fraudulentiam , et seductionem cordis sui , prophetant vobis .
ወይቤለኒ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሐሰዉ ፡ ነቢይት ፡ ዘተነበዩ ፡ በስምየ ፡ ኢፈነውክዎሙ ፡ ወኢተናገርክዎሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ ሀሰዉ ፡ ሰሀሎሙ ፡ ወተዋርዶቶሙ ፡ በከ ፡ እምልቦሙ ፡ ዘፈጠሩ ፡ ወእምልቦሙ ፡ ዘፈጠሩ ፡ ይተኔበዩ ።
Then Yahweh said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I didn’t send them. I didn’t command them. I didn’t speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.
14:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ לָכֵ֞ן כֹּה ־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה עַֽל ־הַנְּבִאִ֞ים הַנִּבְּאִ֣ים בִּשְׁמִי֮ וַאֲנִ֣י לֹֽא ־שְׁלַחְתִּים֒ וְהֵ֙מָּה֙ אֹֽמְרִ֔ים חֶ֣רֶב וְרָעָ֔ב לֹ֥א יִהְיֶ֖ה בָּאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֑את בַּחֶ֤רֶב וּבָֽרָעָב֙ יִתַּ֔מּוּ הַנְּבִאִ֖ים הָהֵֽמָּה ׃
διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος περὶ τῶν προφητῶν τῶν προφητευόντων ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου ψευδῆ καὶ ἐγὼ οὐκ ἀπέστειλα αὐτούς οἳ λέγουσιν μάχαιρα καὶ λιμὸς οὐκ ἔσται ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ταύτης ἐν θανάτῳ νοσερῷ ἀποθανοῦνται καὶ ἐν λιμῷ συντελεσθήσονται οἱ προφῆται
Idcirco haec dicit Dominus de prophetis qui prophetant in nomine meo , quos ego non misi , dicentes : Gladius et fames non erit in terra hac : In gladio et fame consumentur prophetae illi .
በእንተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ይቤ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በእንተ ፡ ነቢያት ፡ እለ ፡ ተነበዩ ፡ በስምየ ፡ ሐሰተ ፡ ዘኢፈነውክዎሙ ፡ አነ ፡ ወይቤሉ ፡ ኢይመጽኦ ፡ ለዝ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ኲናት ፡ ወረኀብ ፡ ወሞት ፡ እኩይ ።
Therefore Yahweh says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, but I didn’t send them, yet they say, ‘Sword and famine will not be in this land.’ Those prophets will be consumed by sword and famine.
14:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָעָ֣ם אֲשֶׁר ־הֵ֣מָּה נִבְּאִ֣ים לָהֶ֡ם יִהְי֣וּ מֻשְׁלָכִים֩ בְּחֻצ֨וֹת יְרוּשָׁלַ֜͏ִם מִפְּנֵ֣י ׀ הָרָעָ֣ב וְהַחֶ֗רֶב וְאֵ֤ין מְקַבֵּר֙ לָהֵ֔מָּה הֵ֣מָּה נְשֵׁיהֶ֔ם וּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם וּבְנֹתֵיהֶ֑ם וְשָׁפַכְתִּ֥י עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם אֶת ־רָעָתָֽם ׃
καὶ ὁ λαός οἷς αὐτοὶ προφητεύουσιν αὐτοῖς καὶ ἔσονται ἐρριμμένοι ἐν ταῖς διόδοις Ιερουσαλημ ἀπὸ προσώπου μαχαίρας καὶ τοῦ λιμοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ θάπτων αὐτούς καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκχεῶ ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς τὰ κακὰ αὐτῶν
Et populi quibus prophetant erunt projecti in viis Jerusalem prae fame et gladio , et non erit qui sepeliat eos : ipsi et uxores eorum , filii et filiae eorum : et effundam super eos malum suum .
በመጥባሕት ፡ ወረኀብ ፡ የሐልቁ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ነቢያት ፡ ወሕዝብኒ ፡ እለ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ትትነበዩ ፡ ወእዘሩ ፡ አብድንቲሆ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ፍናዊሃ ፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም ፡ እምገጸ ፡ ኲናት ፡ ወረኀብ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘይቀብሮሙ ፡ እሙንቱኒ ፡ ወአንስቶሙኒ ፡ ወደቂቆሙኒ ፡ ወአዋልዲሆሙኒ ፡ ወእክዑ ፡ ላዐሌሆሙ ፡ እከዮሙ ።
The people to whom they prophesy will be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. They will have no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters, for I will pour their wickedness on them.
14:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְאָמַרְתָּ֤ אֲלֵיהֶם֙ אֶת ־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה תֵּרַ֨דְנָה עֵינַ֥י דִּמְעָ֛ה לַ֥יְלָה וְיוֹמָ֖ם וְאַל ־תִּדְמֶ֑ינָה כִּי֩ שֶׁ֨בֶר גָּד֜וֹל נִשְׁבְּרָ֗ה בְּתוּלַת֙ בַּת ־עַמִּ֔י מַכָּ֖ה נַחְלָ֥ה מְאֹֽד ׃
καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτοὺς τὸν λόγον τοῦτον καταγάγετε ἐπ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς ὑμῶν δάκρυα ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτός καὶ μὴ διαλιπέτωσαν ὅτι συντρίμματι συνετρίβη θυγάτηρ λαοῦ μου καὶ πληγῇ ὀδυνηρᾷ σφόδρα
Et dices ad eos verbum istud : Deducant oculi mei lacrimam per noctem et diem , et non taceant , quoniam contritione magna contrita est virgo filia populi mei , plaga pessima vehementer .
ወበሎሙ ፡ ዘነገረ ፡ አንብዕ ፡ ይውኅዝ ፡ እምአዕይንቲክሙ ፡ መዓልተ ፡ ወሌሊተ ፡ ዘኢይነጽፍ ፡ እስመ ፡ ቅጥቃጤ ፡ ትቅቀጠቀጥ ፡ ድንግል ፡ ወለተ ፡ ሕዝብየ ፡ በዐቢይ ፡ ቀትል ፡ ጥቀ ።
“You shall say this word to them: “‘Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.
14:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ אִם ־יָצָ֣אתִי הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה וְהִנֵּה֙ חַלְלֵי ־חֶ֔רֶב וְאִם֙ בָּ֣אתִי הָעִ֔יר וְהִנֵּ֖ה תַּחֲלוּאֵ֣י רָעָ֑ב כִּֽי ־גַם ־נָבִ֧יא גַם ־כֹּהֵ֛ן סָחֲר֥וּ אֶל ־אֶ֖רֶץ וְלֹ֥א יָדָֽעוּ ׃ {ס}
ἐὰν ἐξέλθω εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ ἰδοὺ τραυματίαι μαχαίρας καὶ ἐὰν εἰσέλθω εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἰδοὺ πόνος λιμοῦ ὅτι ἱερεὺς καὶ προφήτης ἐπορεύθησαν εἰς γῆν ἣν οὐκ ᾔδεισαν
Si egressus fuero ad agros , ecce occisi gladio : et si introiero in civitatem , ecce attenuati fame . Propheta quoque et sacerdos abierunt in terram quam ignorabant .
እመሂ ፡ መጻእኩ ፡ ገዳመ ፡ እረክብ ፡ አብድንተ ፡ በኲናት ፡ ወእመሂ ፡ ቦእኩ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ እስመ ፡ ነቢያትኒ ፡ ወካህናትኒ ፡ ሖሩ ፡ በፍኖት ፡ በኢአምሩ ።
If I go out into the field, then behold, the slain with the sword! If I enter into the city, then behold, those who are sick with famine! For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.’”
14:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֲמָאֹ֨ס מָאַ֜סְתָּ אֶת ־יְהוּדָ֗ה אִם ־בְּצִיּוֹן֙ גָּעֲלָ֣ה נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ מַדּ֙וּעַ֙ הִכִּיתָ֔נוּ וְאֵ֥ין לָ֖נוּ מַרְפֵּ֑א קַוֵּ֤ה לְשָׁלוֹם֙ וְאֵ֣ין ט֔וֹב וּלְעֵ֥ת מַרְפֵּ֖א וְהִנֵּ֥ה בְעָתָֽה ׃
μὴ ἀποδοκιμάζων ἀπεδοκίμασας τὸν Ιουδαν καὶ ἀπὸ Σιων ἀπέστη ἡ ψυχή σου ἵνα τί ἔπαισας ἡμᾶς καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἡμῖν ἴασις ὑπεμείναμεν εἰς εἰρήνην καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἀγαθά εἰς καιρὸν ἰάσεως καὶ ἰδοὺ ταραχή
Numquid projiciens abjecisti Judam ? aut Sion abominata est anima tua ? quare ergo percussisti nos ita ut nulla sit sanitas ? Exspectavimus pacem , et non est bonum : et tempus curationis , et ecce turbatio .
ለእመ ፡ መንኖ ፡ መነንኮ ፡ ለይሁዳ ፡ ወለእመ ፡ ጸልአታ ፡ ነፍስከ ፡ ለጽዮን ፡ ለምንት ፡ አውደቀነ ፡ ወኃጥአነ ፡ ፈውስ ፡ ተሰፈውነ ፡ ሰላመ ፡ ወኀጥአይነ ፡ ሠናይተ ፡ ወሣህለ ፡ በመዋዕሊነ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ሐከክ ።
Have you utterly rejected Judah? Has your soul loathed Zion? Why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!
14:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ יָדַ֧עְנוּ יְהֹוָ֛ה רִשְׁעֵ֖נוּ עֲוֺ֣ן אֲבוֹתֵ֑ינוּ כִּ֥י חָטָ֖אנוּ לָֽךְ ׃
ἔγνωμεν κύριε ἁμαρτήματα ἡμῶν ἀδικίας πατέρων ἡμῶν ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν ἐναντίον σου
Cognovimus , Domine , impietates nostras , iniquitates patrum nostrorum , quia peccavimus tibi .
አእመርነ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ኀጢአተነ ፡ ወጌጋየ ፡ አበዊነ ፡ እስመ ፡ አበስነ ፡ በቅድሜከ ።
We acknowledge, Yahweh, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you.
14:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ אַל ־תִּנְאַץ֙ לְמַ֣עַן שִׁמְךָ֔ אַל ־תְּנַבֵּ֖ל כִּסֵּ֣א כְבוֹדֶ֑ךָ זְכֹ֕ר אַל ־תָּפֵ֥ר בְּרִיתְךָ֖ אִתָּֽנוּ ׃
κόπασον διὰ τὸ ὄνομά σου μὴ ἀπολέσῃς θρόνον δόξης σου μνήσθητι μὴ διασκεδάσῃς τὴν διαθήκην σου τὴν μεθ’ ἡμῶν
Ne des nos in opprobrium , propter nomen tuum , neque facias nobis contumeliam solii gloriae tuae : recordare , ne irritum facias foedus tuum nobiscum .
ተመየጠነ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ስምከ ፡ ወኢትግድፍ ፡ መንበረ ፡ ስብሐቲከ ፡ ተዘከር ፡ ወኢትንሥት ፡ ሥርዐተ ፡ ዘኀቤነ ።
Do not abhor us, for your name’s sake. Do not disgrace the throne of your glory. Remember, and don’t break your covenant with us.
14:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ הֲיֵ֨שׁ בְּהַבְלֵ֤י הַגּוֹיִם֙ מַגְשִׁמִ֔ים וְאִם ־הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם יִתְּנ֣וּ רְבִבִ֑ים הֲלֹ֨א אַתָּה ־ה֜וּא יְהֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙ וּנְקַוֶּה ־לָּ֔ךְ כִּֽי ־אַתָּ֥ה עָשִׂ֖יתָ אֶת ־כׇּל ־אֵֽלֶּה ׃ {פ}
μὴ ἔστιν ἐν εἰδώλοις τῶν ἐθνῶν ὑετίζων καὶ εἰ ὁ οὐρανὸς δώσει πλησμονὴν αὐτοῦ οὐχὶ σὺ εἶ αὐτός καὶ ὑπομενοῦμέν σε ὅτι σὺ ἐποίησας πάντα ταῦτα
Numquid sunt in sculptilibus gentium qui pluant ? aut caeli possunt dare imbres ? nonne tu es Dominus Deus noster , quem exspectavimus ? tu enim fecisti omnia haec .
ቦኑ ፡ ጣኦተ ፡ አህዛብ ፡ ዘያዘንም ፡ ወእመሂ ፡ ወሀበ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ጠለ ፡ ወአጽገበ ፡ አኮኑ ፡ አንተ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ አምላክነ ፡ ወተሰፈውናከ ፡ እስመ ፡ አንተ ፡ ገበርከ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ኵሎ ።
Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, Yahweh our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.
