18:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ταῦτα εἰπὼν Ἰησοῦς ἐξῆλθεν σὺν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ πέραν τοῦ χειμάρρου τοῦ κέδρου , ὅπου ἦν κῆπος , εἰς ὃν εἰσῆλθεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ .
Haec cum dixisset Jesus , egressus est cum discipulis suis trans torrentem Cedron , ubi erat hortus , in quem introivit ipse , et discipuli ejus .
ወዘንተ ብሂሎ ወፅአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ምስለ አርዳኢሁ ማዕዶተ ቄድሮስ ፈለገ አርዝ ወቦ ህየ ገነት ዐጸደ ሐምል ወቦአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ውስቴታ ምስለ አርዳኢሁ ።
When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered.
18:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ᾔδει δὲ καὶ Ἰούδας ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν τὸν τόπον , ὅτι πολλάκις συνήχθη Ἰησοῦς ἐκεῖ μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ .
Sciebat autem et Judas , qui tradebat eum , locum : quia frequenter Jesus convenerat illuc cum discipulis suis .
ወየአምሮ ይሁዳ ዘያገብኦ ለውእቱ መካን እስመ ብዙኀ ጊዜ የሐውር እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ህየ ምስለ አርዳኢሁ ።
Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples.
18:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ οὖν Ἰούδας λαβὼν τὴν σπεῖραν καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἀρχιερέων καὶ ἐκ τῶν Φαρισαίων ὑπηρέτας ἔρχεται ἐκεῖ μετὰ φανῶν καὶ λαμπάδων καὶ ὅπλων .
Judas ergo cum accepisset cohortem , et a pontificibus et pharisaeis ministros , venit illuc cum laternis , et facibus , et armis .
ወነሥኦሙ ይሁዳ ለሠገራተ ሰጲራ እምኀበ ሊቃነ ካህናት ወፈሪሳውያን ወነሥአ ረድኤተ ወዓልያኒሆሙ ወሖረ ህየ በመኃትወ ጽጕ ወበፓናት ወበንዋየ ሐቅል ።
Judas then, having taken a detachment of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.
18:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἰησοῦς οὖν εἰδὼς πάντα τὰ ἐρχόμενα ἐπ’ αὐτὸν ἐξῆλθεν καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς · τίνα ζητεῖτε ;
Jesus itaque sciens omnia quae ventura erant super eum , processit , et dixit eis : Quem quaeritis ?
ወአእሚሮ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ኵሎ ዘይበጽሕ ላዕሌሁ ወፅአ አፍኣ ኀቤሆሙ ወይቤሎሙ መነ ተኀሥሡ ።
Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went out and said to them, “Who are you looking for?”
18:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ Ἰησοῦν τὸν Ναζωραῖον . λέγει αὐτοῖς Ἰησοῦς · ἐγώ εἰμι . εἱστήκει δὲ καὶ Ἰούδας ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν μετ’ αὐτῶν .
Responderunt ei : Jesum Nazarenum . Dicit eis Jesus : Ego sum . Stabat autem et Judas , qui tradebat eum , cum ipsis .
ወአውሥኡ ወይቤልዎ ኢየሱስሃ ናዝራዌ ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አነ ውእቱ ወሀለወ ይሁዳኒ ዘያገብኦ ይቀውም ምስሌሆሙ ።
They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.” Judas also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.
18:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς οὖν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · ἐγώ εἰμι , ἀπῆλθον εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω καὶ ἔπεσαν χαμαί .
Ut ergo dixit eis : Ego sum : abierunt retrorsum , et ceciderunt in terram .
ወሶበ ይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አነ ውእቱ ገብኡ ድኅሬሆሙ ወወድቁ ዲበ ምድር ።
When therefore he said to them, “I am he,” they went backward and fell to the ground.
18:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ πάλιν οὖν αὐτούς ἐπηρώτησεν · τίνα ζητεῖτε ; οἱ δὲ εἶπον · Ἰησοῦν τὸν Ναζωραῖον .
Iterum ergo interrogavit eos : Quem quaeritis ? Illi autem dixerunt : Jesum Nazarenum .
ወእምዝ ካዕበ ተስእሎሙ ወይቤሎሙ መነ ተኀሥሡ ወይቤልዎ ኢየሱስሃ ናዝራዌ ።
Again therefore he asked them, “Who are you looking for?” They said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
18:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς · εἶπον ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι · εἰ οὖν ἐμὲ ζητεῖτε , ἄφετε τούτους ὑπάγειν .
Respondit Jesus : Dixi vobis , quia ego sum : si ergo me quaeritis , sinite hos abire .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ አኮኑ እቤለክሙ አነ ውእቱ ወእመሰ ኪያየ ተኀሥሡ ኅድግዎሙ ለእሉ ይሑሩ ።
Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way,”
18:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἵνα πληρωθῇ ὁ λόγος ὃν εἶπεν , ὅτι οὓς δέδωκάς μοι , οὐκ ἀπώλεσα ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐδένα .
Ut impleretur sermo , quem dixit : Quia quos dedisti mihi , non perdidi ex eis quemquam .
ከመ ይብጻሕ ቃሉ ዘይቤ እለሰ ወሀብከኒ ኢተኀጕለ ወኢአሐዱሂ እምኔሆሙ ።
that the word might be fulfilled which he spoke, “Of those whom you have given me, I have lost none.”
18:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ Σίμων οὖν Πέτρος ἔχων μάχαιραν εἵλκυσεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἔπαισεν τὸν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως δοῦλον καὶ ἀπέκοψεν αὐτοῦ τὸ ὠτάριον τὸ δεξιόν · ἦν δὲ ὄνομα τῷ δούλῳ Μάλχος .
Simon ergo Petrus habens gladium eduxit eum : et percussit pontificis servum , et abscidit auriculam ejus dexteram . Erat autem nomen servo Malchus .
ወቦ መጥባሕት ለስምዖን ጴጥሮስ ወመልሐ መጥባሕቶ ወዘበጦ ለገብረ ሊቀ ካህናት ወመተረ እዝኖ ዘየማን ወስሙ ለውእቱ ገብር ማልኮስ ።
Simon Peter therefore, having a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
18:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν οὖν ὁ Ἰησοῦς τῷ Πέτρῳ · βάλε τὴν μάχαιραν εἰς τὴν θήκην · τὸ ποτήριον ὃ δέδωκέν μοι ὁ πατήρ , οὐ μὴ πίω αὐτό ;
Dixit ergo Jesus Petro : Mitte gladium tuum in vaginam . Calicem , quem dedit mihi Pater , non bibam illum ?
ወይቤሎ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ለጴጥሮስ አግብኣ ለመጥባሕትከ ውስተ ቤታ ጽዋዐ ዘወሀበኒ አቡየ ኢየኀድግ ዘእንበለ እስተይ ።
Jesus therefore said to Peter, “Put the sword into its sheath. The cup which the Father has given me, shall I not surely drink it?”
18:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἡ οὖν σπεῖρα καὶ ὁ χιλίαρχος καὶ οἱ ὑπηρέται τῶν Ἰουδαίων συνέλαβον τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἔδησαν αὐτόν ,
Cohors ergo , et tribunus , et ministri Judaeorum comprehenderunt Jesum , et ligaverunt eum .
ወአኀዝዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ሠገራተ ሰጲራ ወሊቀ ዐሠርቱ ምእት ወወዓልያኒሆሙ ለአይሁድ ወኀመይዎ ።
So the detachment, the commanding officer, and the officers of the Jews seized Jesus and bound him,
18:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἤγαγον πρὸς Ἅνναν πρῶτον · ἦν γὰρ πενθερὸς τοῦ Καϊάφα , ὃς ἦν ἀρχιερεὺς τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἐκείνου ·
Et adduxerunt eum ad Annam primum : erat enim socer Caiphae , qui erat pontifex anni illius .
ወወሰድዎ ኀበ ሐና ቀዲሙ እስመ ሐሙሁ ውእቱ ለቀያፋ ሊቀ ካህናት ዘእብሬቱ ይእቲ ዓመት ።
and led him to Annas first, for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.
18:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἦν δὲ Καϊάφας ὁ συμβουλεύσας τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις ὅτι συμφέρει ἕνα ἄνθρωπον ἀποθανεῖν ὑπὲρ τοῦ λαοῦ .
Erat autem Caiphas , qui consilium dederat Judaeis : Quia expedit unum hominem mori pro populo .
ወቀያፋሰ ውእቱ ዘአምከሮሙ ለአይሁድ ወይቤሎሙ ይኄይስ ይሙት አሐዱ ብእሲ እምይትኀጐል ኵሉ ሕዝብ ።
Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should perish for the people.
18:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἠκολούθει δὲ τῷ Ἰησοῦ Σίμων Πέτρος καὶ ἄλλος μαθητής . ὁ δὲ μαθητὴς ἐκεῖνος ἦν γνωστὸς τῷ ἀρχιερεῖ , καὶ συνεισῆλθεν τῷ Ἰησοῦ εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως ,
Sequebatur autem Jesum Simon Petrus , et alius discipulus . Discipulus autem ille erat notus pontifici , et introivit cum Jesu in atrium pontificis .
ወተለውዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ እምርኁቅ ስምዖን ጴጥሮስ ወካልእኒ ረድእ ወውእቱሰ ረድእ ልሙድ በኀበ ሊቀ ካህናት ወቦአ ምስለ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ውስተ ዐጸደ ሊቀ ካህናት ።
Simon Peter followed Jesus, as did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest;
18:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ Πέτρος εἱστήκει πρὸς τῇ θύρᾳ ἔξω . ἐξῆλθεν οὖν ὁ μαθητὴς ὁ ἄλλος ὁ γνωστὸς τοῦ ἀρχιερέως καὶ εἶπεν τῇ θυρωρῷ , καὶ εἰσήγαγεν τὸν Πέτρον .
Petrus autem stabat ad ostium foris . Exivit ergo discipulus alius , qui erat notus pontifici , et dixit ostiariae : et introduxit Petrum .
ወጴጥሮስሰ ቆመ አፍኣ ኀበ ኆኅት ወወፅአ ዝኩ ረድእ ዘልሙድ በኀበ ሊቀ ካህናት ወተናገራ ለዐጻዊት ወአብኦ ለጴጥሮስ ።
but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought in Peter.
18:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγει οὖν τῷ Πέτρῳ ἡ παιδίσκη ἡ θυρωρός , μὴ καὶ σὺ ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν εἶ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τούτου ; λέγει ἐκεῖνος · οὐκ εἰμί .
Dicit ergo Petro ancilla ostiaria : Numquid et tu ex discipulis es hominis istius ? Dicit ille : Non sum .
ወትቤሎ ይእቲ አመት ዐጻዊት ለጴጥሮስ አንተሂ እምአርዳኢሁኑ ለውእቱ ብእሲ አንተ ወይቤላ ውእቱኒ ኢኮንኩ ።
Then the maid who kept the door said to Peter, “Are you also one of this man’s disciples?” He said, “I am not.”
18:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἱστήκεισαν δὲ οἱ δοῦλοι καὶ οἱ ὑπηρέται ἀνθρακιὰν πεποιηκότες , ὅτι ψῦχος ἦν , καὶ ἐθερμαίνοντο · ἦν δὲ καὶ ὁ Πέτρος μετ’ αὐτῶν ἑστὼς καὶ θερμαινόμενος .
Stabant autem servi et ministri ad prunas , quia frigus erat , et calefaciebant se : erat autem cum eis et Petrus stans , et calefaciens se .
ወሀለዉ ይቀውሙ አግብርቲሆሙ ወወዓልያኒሆሙ ወይበቁጹ አፍሓመ ወይስሕኑ እስመ ብዙኅ ቍራ ለይእቲ ሌሊት ወይቀውም ጴጥሮስኒ ወይስሕን ምስሌሆሙ ።
Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold. They were warming themselves. Peter was with them, standing and warming himself.
18:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ὁ οὖν ἀρχιερεὺς ἠρώτησεν τὸν Ἰησοῦν περὶ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ περὶ τῆς διδαχῆς αὐτοῦ .
Pontifex ergo interrogavit Jesum de discipulis suis , et de doctrina ejus .
ወተስእሎ ሊቀ ካህናት ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ በእንተ አርዳኢሁ ወበእንተ ትምህርቱ ።
The high priest therefore asked Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching.
18:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ Ἰησοῦς · ἐγὼ παρρησίᾳ λελάληκα τῷ κόσμῳ · ἐγὼ πάντοτε ἐδίδαξα ἐν συναγωγῇ καὶ ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ , ὅπου πάντες οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι συνέρχονται , καὶ ἐν κρυπτῷ ἐλάλησα οὐδέν .
Respondit ei Jesus : Ego palam locutus sum mundo : ego semper docui in synagoga , et in templo , quo omnes Judaei conveniunt , et in occulto locutus sum nihil .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎ አንሰ ክሡተ ተናገርኩ በውስተ ዓለም ወበኵሉ ጊዜ መሀርኩ በምኵራብ ወበቤተ መቅደስ ኀበ ይትጋብኡ ኵሎሙ አይሁድ ወአልቦ ዘተናገርኩ ጽሚተ ወኢምንተኒ ።
Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret.
18:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ τί με ἐρωτᾷς ; ἐρώτησον τοὺς ἀκηκοότας τί ἐλάλησα αὐτοῖς · ἴδε οὗτοι οἴδασιν ἃ εἶπον ἐγώ .
Quid me interrogas ? interroga eos qui audierunt quid locutus sim ipsis : ecce hi sciunt quae dixerim ego .
ለምንት እንከ ትሴአለኒ ሊተ ተሰአሎሙ ለእለ ሰምዑኒ ዘተናገርክዎሙ እስመ እሙንቱ የአምሩ ዘተናገርኩ አነ ።
Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them. Behold, they know the things which I said.”
18:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ ταῦτα δὲ αὐτοῦ εἰπόντος εἷς παρεστηκὼς τῶν ὑπηρετῶν ἔδωκεν ῥάπισμα τῷ Ἰησοῦ εἰπών · οὕτως ἀποκρίνῃ τῷ ἀρχιερεῖ ;
Haec autem cum dixisset , unus assistens ministrorum dedit alapam Jesu , dicens : Sic respondes pontifici ?
ወዘንተ ብሂሎ ጸፍዖ መልታሕቶ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ አሐዱ እምእለ ይቀውሙ ወዓልት ወይቤሎ ከመዝኑ ትትዋሥኦ ለሊቀ ካህናት ።
When he had said this, one of the officers standing by slapped Jesus with his hand, saying, “Do you answer the high priest like that?”
18:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ Ἰησοῦς · εἰ κακῶς ἐλάλησα , μαρτύρησον περὶ τοῦ κακοῦ · εἰ δὲ καλῶς , τί με δέρεις ;
Respondit ei Jesus : Si male locutus sum , testimonium perhibe de malo : si autem bene , quid me caedis ?
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎ እመሰ እኩየ ነበብኩ ስምዐ ኩን ላዕሌየ ወአስተዋድየኒ በእንተ እኩይ ወእመሰ ሠናየ ነበብኩ እንከ ለምንት ትዘብጠኒ ።
Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?”
18:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπέστειλεν οὖν αὐτὸν ὁ Ἅννας δεδεμένον πρὸς Καϊάφαν τὸν ἀρχιερέα .
Et misit eum Annas ligatum ad Caipham pontificem .
ወፈነዎ ሐና ኅሙዮ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ኀበ ቀያፋ ሊቀ ካህናት ።
Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas, the high priest.
18:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἦν δὲ Σίμων Πέτρος ἑστὼς καὶ θερμαινόμενος . εἶπον οὖν αὐτῷ · μὴ καὶ σὺ ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ εἶ ; ἠρνήσατο ἐκεῖνος καὶ εἶπεν · οὐκ εἰμί .
Erat autem Simon Petrus stans , et calefaciens se . Dixerunt ergo ei : Numquid et tu ex discipulis ejus es ? Negavit ille , et dixit : Non sum .
ወሀሎ ስምዖን ጴጥሮስ ይቀውም ወይስሕን ወይቤልዎ አንተሂ እምአርዳኢሁኑ አንተ ወክሕደ ወይቤ ኢኮንኩ ።
Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, “You aren’t also one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not.”
18:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγει εἷς ἐκ τῶν δούλων τοῦ ἀρχιερέως , συγγενὴς ὢν οὗ ἀπέκοψεν Πέτρος τὸ ὠτίον · οὐκ ἐγώ σε εἶδον ἐν τῷ κήπῳ μετ’ αὐτοῦ ;
Dicit ei unus ex servis pontificis , cognatus ejus , cujus abscidit Petrus auriculam : Nonne ego te vidi in horto cum illo ?
ወይቤሎ አሐዱ እምአግብርቲሁ ለሊቀ ካህናት ዘእምአዝማዲሁ ለዝኩ ዘመተሮ ጴጥሮስ እዝኖ አኮኑ አነ ርኢኩከ ውስተ ገነት ምስሌሁ ።
One of the servants of the high priest, being a relative of him whose ear Peter had cut off, said, “Didn’t I see you in the garden with him?”
18:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ πάλιν οὖν ἠρνήσατο Πέτρος · καὶ εὐθέως ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησεν .
Iterum ergo negavit Petrus : et statim gallus cantavit .
ወካዕበ ክሕደ ጴጥሮስ ወሶቤሃ ነቀወ ዶርሆ ።
Peter therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed.
18:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἄγουσιν οὖν τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἀπὸ τοῦ Καϊάφα εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον · ἦν δὲ πρωΐ · καὶ αὐτοὶ οὐκ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον , ἵνα μὴ μιανθῶσιν ἀλλὰ φάγωσιν τὸ πάσχα .
Adducunt ergo Jesum a Caipha in praetorium . Erat autem mane : et ipsi non introierunt in praetorium , ut non contaminarentur , sed ut manducarent Pascha .
ወወሰድዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ እምኀበ ቀያፋ ኀበ ዐውድ ወጎሕ ውእቱ ወኢቦኡ አይሁድ ውስተ ዐውደ ምኵናን እስመ ወድአ ጸብሐ ከመ ኢይርኰሱ እምቅድመ ይብልዑ ፍሥሐ ።
They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn’t enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.
18:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐξῆλθεν οὖν ὁ Πειλᾶτος ἔξω πρὸς αὐτοὺς καὶ φησίν · τίνα κατηγορίαν φέρετε τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τούτου ;
Exivit ergo Pilatus ad eos foras , et dixit : Quam accusationem affertis adversus hominem hunc ?
ወወፅአ ጲላጦስ አፍኣ ኀቤሆሙ ወይቤሎሙ ምንትኑ ጌጋዩ ለዝ ብእሲ በዘ አምጻእክምዎ ኀቤየ ።
Pilate therefore went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?”
18:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθησαν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ · εἰ μὴ ἦν οὗτος κακὸν ποιῶν , οὐκ ἄν σοι παρεδώκαμεν αὐτόν .
Responderunt , et dixerunt ei : Si non esset hic malefactor , non tibi tradidissemus eum .
ወአውሥኡ ወይቤልዎ ሶበሰ ኢኮነ ገባሬ እኪት እምኢያግባእናሁ ኀቤከ ።
They answered him, “If this man weren’t an evildoer, we wouldn’t have delivered him up to you.”
18:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ Πειλᾶτος · λάβετε αὐτὸν ὑμεῖς καὶ κατὰ τὸν νόμον ὑμῶν κρίνατε . εἶπον οὖν αὐτῷ οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι · ἡμῖν οὐκ ἔξεστιν ἀποκτεῖναι οὐδένα .
Dixit ergo eis Pilatus : Accipite eum vos , et secundum legem vestram judicate eum . Dixerunt ergo ei Judaei : Nobis non licet interficere quemquam .
ወይቤሎሙ ጲላጦስ ንሥእዎ አንትሙ ወበከመ ሕግክሙ ኰንንዎ ወይቤልዎ አይሁድ ለነሰ ኢይከውነነ ንቅትል ወኢመነሂ ።
Pilate therefore said to them, “Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law.” Therefore the Jews said to him, “It is illegal for us to put anyone to death,”
18:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἵνα ὁ λόγος τοῦ Ἰησοῦ πληρωθῇ , ὃν εἶπεν σημαίνων ποίῳ θανάτῳ ἤμελλεν ἀποθνῄσκειν .
Ut sermo Jesu impleretur , quem dixit , significans qua morte esset moriturus .
ከመ ይብጻሕ ቃሉ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ዘይቤ እንዘ ይኤምሮሙ በአይ ሞት ሀለዎ ይሙት ።
that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die.
18:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ Εἰσῆλθεν οὖν εἰς τὸ πραιτώριον πάλιν ὁ Πειλᾶτος καὶ ἐφώνησεν τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ · σὺ εἶ ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν Ἰουδαίων ;
Introivit ergo iterum in praetorium Pilatus : et vocavit Jesum , et dixit ei : Tu es rex Judaeorum ?
ወቦአ ካዕበ ጲላጦስ ውስተ ዐውድ ወጸውዖ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎ አንተኑ ንጉሦሙ ለአይሁድ ።
Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”
18:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς · ἀφ’ ἑαυτοῦ σὺ τοῦτο λέγεις , ἢ ἄλλοι σοι εἶπόν περὶ ἐμοῦ ;
Respondit Jesus : A temetipso hoc dicis , an alii dixerunt tibi de me ?
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎ ዘእምልብከኑ ትብል ዘንተ ወሚመ ቦኑ ባዕድ ዘነገረከ በእንቲኣየ ።
Jesus answered him, “Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?”
18:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ Πειλᾶτος · μήτι ἐγὼ Ἰουδαῖός εἰμι ; τὸ ἔθνος τὸ σὸν καὶ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς παρέδωκάν σε ἐμοί · τί ἐποίησας ;
Respondit Pilatus : Numquid ego Judaeus sum ? gens tua et pontifices tradiderunt te mihi : quid fecisti ?
ወአውሥአ ጲላጦስ ወይቤሎ አነሂ አይሁዳዊኑ አነ አኮኑ ሕዝብከ ወሊቃነ ካህናት አግብኡከ ኀቤየ ምንተኑ እግበርከ ።
Pilate answered, “I’m not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?”
18:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς · ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμὴ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου τούτου · εἰ ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου τούτου ἦν ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμή , οἱ ὑπηρέται ἂν οἱ ἐμοὶ ἠγωνίζοντο , ἵνα μὴ παραδοθῶ τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις · νῦν δὲ ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμὴ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐντεῦθεν .
Respondit Jesus : Regnum meum non est de hoc mundo . Si ex hoc mundo esset regnum meum , ministri mei utique decertarent ut non traderer Judaeis : nunc autem regnum meum non est hinc .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ መንግሥትየሰ ኢኮነት እምዝንቱ ዓለም ሶበሰ በዝንቱ ዓለም መንግሥትየ እምተአበሱ ሊተ ወዓልያንየ ከመ ኢያግብኡኒ አይሁድ ኀቤከ ወይእዜሰ ባሕቱ ኢኮነት እምዝየ መንግሥትየ ።
Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I wouldn’t be delivered to the Jews. But now my Kingdom is not from here.”
18:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν οὖν αὐτῷ ὁ Πειλᾶτος · οὐκοῦν βασιλεὺς εἶ σύ ; ἀπεκρίθη ὁ Ἰησοῦς · σὺ λέγεις , ὅτι βασιλεύς εἰμι . ἐγὼ εἰς τοῦτο γεγέννημαι καὶ εἰς τοῦτο ἐλήλυθα εἰς τὸν κόσμον , ἵνα μαρτυρήσω τῇ ἀληθείᾳ · πᾶς ὁ ὢν ἐκ τῆς ἀληθείας ἀκούει μου τῆς φωνῆς .
Dixit itaque ei Pilatus : Ergo rex es tu ? Respondit Jesus : Tu dicis quia rex sum ego . Ego in hoc natus sum , et ad hoc veni in mundum , ut testimonium perhibeam veritati : omnis qui est ex veritate , audit vocem meam .
ወይቤሎ ጲላጦስ እንከሰኬ ንጉሥ አንተ ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎ ለሊከ ትቤ ከመ ንጉሥ አነ ወአንሰ በእንተ ዝንቱ ተወለድኩ ወእንበይነ ዝንቱ መጻእኩ ውስተ ዓለም ከመ እኩን ሰማዕተ በጽድቅ ወኵሉ ዘእምጽድቅ ውእቱ ይሰምዐኒ ቃልየ ።
Pilate therefore said to him, “Are you a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”
18:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Πειλᾶτος · τί ἐστιν ἀλήθεια ; καὶ τοῦτο εἰπὼν πάλιν ἐξῆλθεν πρὸς τοὺς Ἰουδαίους , καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς · ἐγὼ οὐδεμίαν εὑρίσκω ἐν αὐτῷ αἰτίαν .
Dicit ei Pilatus : Quid est veritas ? Et cum hoc dixisset , iterum exivit ad Judaeos , et dicit eis : Ego nullam invenio in eo causam .
ወይቤሎ ጲላጦስ ምንትኑ ውእቱ ጽድቅ ወዘንተ ብሂሎ ወፅአ ካዕበ ኀበ አይሁድ ወይቤሎሙ አንሰ አልቦ ዘረከብኩ ጌጋይ ላዕሌሁ ወኢአሐተኒ ።
Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” When he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no basis for a charge against him.
18:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔστιν δὲ συνήθεια ὑμῖν ἵνα ἕνα ἀπολύσω ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ πάσχα · βούλεσθε οὖν ἀπολύσω ὑμῖν τὸν βασιλέα τῶν Ἰουδαίων ;
Est autem consuetudo vobis ut unum dimittam vobis in Pascha : vultis ergo dimittam vobis regem Judaeorum ?
ወባሕቱ ሀሎ ዘናለምድ ዘአሐዩ ለክሙ አሐደ እምነ ሙቁሓን ለለፋሲካ ትፈቅዱኑ አንከ አሕይዎ ለክሙ ለንጉሠ አይሁድ ።
But you have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Therefore, do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”
18:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐκραύγασαν οὖν πάλιν λέγοντες · μὴ τοῦτον , ἀλλὰ τὸν Βαραββᾶν . ἦν δὲ ὁ Βαραββᾶς λῃστής .
Clamaverunt ergo rursum omnes , dicentes : Non hunc , sed Barabbam . Erat autem Barabbas latro .
ወከልሑ ካዕበ ኵሎሙ ወይቤሉ አኮ ዘንተ ዘታሐዩ አላ በርባንሃ ወበርባንሰ ሊቀ ፈያት ውእቱ ።
Then they all shouted again, saying, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.
