7:1
וַיִּמְעֲל֧וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל מַ֖עַל בַּחֵ֑רֶם וַיִּקַּ֡ח עָכָ֣ן בֶּן־כַּרְמִי֩ בֶן־זַבְדִּ֨י בֶן־זֶ֜רַח לְמַטֵּ֤ה יְהוּדָה֙ מִן־הַחֵ֔רֶם וַיִּֽחַר־אַ֥ף יְהֹוָ֖ה בִּבְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {ס}
καὶ ἐπλημμέλησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ πλημμέλειαν μεγάλην καὶ ἐνοσφίσαντο ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀναθέματος καὶ ἔλαβεν Αχαρ υἱὸς Χαρμι υἱοῦ Ζαμβρι υἱοῦ Ζαρα ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς Ιουδα ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀναθέματος καὶ ἐθυμώθη ὀργῇ κύριος τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ
Filii autem Israël praevaricati sunt mandatum, et usurpaverunt de anathemate. Nam Achan filius Charmi filii Zabdi filii Zare de tribu Juda tulit aliquid de anathemate : iratusque est Dominus contra filios Israël.
ወአበሱ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ዐቢየ ፡ አበሳ ፡ ወነሥኡ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ዘአሕረሙ ፡ ወነሥአ ፡ አካን ፡ ወልደ ፡ ከርሚ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዝንብሪ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዛራ ፡ ዘእምነ ፡ ነገደ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ዘአሕረሙ ፡ ወተምዕዐ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ።
But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the devoted things; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against the children of Israel.
7:2
וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ יְהוֹשֻׁ֨עַ אֲנָשִׁ֜ים מִירִיח֗וֹ הָעַ֞י אֲשֶׁ֨ר עִם־בֵּ֥ית אָ֙וֶן֙ מִקֶּ֣דֶם לְבֵֽית־אֵ֔ל וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר עֲל֖וּ וְרַגְּל֣וּ אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַֽיַּעֲלוּ֙ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים וַֽיְרַגְּל֖וּ אֶת־הָעָֽי׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ἰησοῦς ἄνδρας εἰς Γαι ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ Βαιθηλ λέγων κατασκέψασθε τὴν Γαι καὶ ἀνέβησαν οἱ ἄνδρες καὶ κατεσκέψαντο τὴν Γαι
Cumque mitteret Josue de Jericho viros contra Hai, quae est juxta Bethaven, ad orientalem plagam oppidi Bethel, dixit eis : Ascendite, et explorate terram. Qui praecepta complentes exploraverunt Hai.
ወፈነወ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ እምነ ፡ ኢያሪኮ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጋይ ፡ እንተ ፡ መንገለ ፡ ቤቴል ፡ መንገለ ፡ ጽባሒሃ ፡ ለቤቴል ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፡ ዕረጉ ፡ ወርእይዋ ፡ ለጋይ ፡ ወዐርጉ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ወርእይዋ ፡ ለጋይ ።
Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the land.” The men went up and spied out Ai.
7:3
וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֗עַ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָיו֮ אַל־יַ֣עַל כׇּל־הָעָם֒ כְּאַלְפַּ֣יִם אִ֗ישׁ א֚וֹ כִּשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֣ים אִ֔ישׁ יַעֲל֖וּ וְיַכּ֣וּ אֶת־הָעָ֑י אַל־תְּיַגַּע־שָׁ֙מָּה֙ אֶת־כׇּל־הָעָ֔ם כִּ֥י מְעַ֖ט הֵֽמָּה׃
καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν πρὸς Ἰησοῦν καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς αὐτόν μὴ ἀναβήτω πᾶς ὁ λαός ἀλλ’ ὡς δισχίλιοι ἢ τρισχίλιοι ἄνδρες ἀναβήτωσαν καὶ ἐκπολιορκησάτωσαν τὴν πόλιν μὴ ἀναγάγῃς ἐκεῖ τὸν λαὸν πάντα ὀλίγοι γάρ εἰσιν
Et reversi dixerunt ei : Non ascendat omnis populus, sed duo vel tria millia virorum pergant, et deleant civitatem : quare omnis populus frustra vexabitur contra hostes paucissimos ?
ወገብኡ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ኢይዕረግ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ አላ ፡ ዕሥራ ፡ ምእት ፡ አው ፡ ሠላሳ ፡ ምእት ፡ ዕደው ፡ ይዕረጉ ፡ ወይትቃተልዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወኵሎሰ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ ኢትሰድ ፡ ህየ ፡ እስመ ፡ ውሑዳን ፡ እሙንቱ ።
They returned to Joshua, and said to him, “Don’t let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and strike Ai. Don’t make all the people to toil there, for there are only a few of them.”
7:4
וַיַּעֲל֤וּ מִן־הָעָם֙ שָׁ֔מָּה כִּשְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֖ים אִ֑ישׁ וַיָּנֻ֕סוּ לִפְנֵ֖י אַנְשֵׁ֥י הָעָֽי׃
καὶ ἀνέβησαν ὡσεὶ τρισχίλιοι ἄνδρες καὶ ἔφυγον ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν ἀνδρῶν Γαι
Ascenderunt ergo tria millia pugnatorum. Qui statim terga vertentes,
ወዐርጉ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ የአክሉ ፡ ሠላሳ ፡ ምእት ፡ ወአንትዕዎሙ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ጋይ ፡ ወጐዩ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጾሙ ።
So about three thousand men of the people went up there, and they fled before the men of Ai.
7:5
וַיַּכּ֨וּ מֵהֶ֜ם אַנְשֵׁ֣י הָעַ֗י כִּשְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וְשִׁשָּׁה֙ אִ֔ישׁ וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֞וּם לִפְנֵ֤י הַשַּׁ֙עַר֙ עַד־הַשְּׁבָרִ֔ים וַיַּכּ֖וּם בַּמּוֹרָ֑ד וַיִּמַּ֥ס לְבַב־הָעָ֖ם וַיְהִ֥י לְמָֽיִם׃
καὶ ἀπέκτειναν ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ἄνδρες Γαι εἰς τριάκοντα καὶ ἓξ ἄνδρας καὶ κατεδίωξαν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς πύλης καὶ συνέτριψαν αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τοῦ καταφεροῦς καὶ ἐπτοήθη ἡ καρδία τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ ἐγένετο ὥσπερ ὕδωρ
percussi sunt a viris urbis Hai, et corruerunt ex eis triginta sex homines : persecutique sunt eos adversarii de porta usque ad Sabarim, et ceciderunt per prona fugientes : pertimuitque cor populi, et instar aquae liquefactum est.
ወቀተሉ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ጋይ ፡ ሠላሳ ፡ ወስድስተ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ዴገንዎሙ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ አንቀጽ ፡ እስከ ፡ አጥፍእዎሙ ፡ ወቀተልዎሙ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ሙራድ ፡ ወደንገፀ ፡ ልቦሙ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ወኮነ ፡ ከመ ፡ ማይ ።
The men of Ai struck about thirty-six men of them. They chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim, and struck them at the descent. The hearts of the people melted, and became like water.
7:6
וַיִּקְרַ֨ע יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ שִׂמְלֹתָ֗יו וַיִּפֹּל֩ עַל־פָּנָ֨יו אַ֜רְצָה לִפְנֵ֨י אֲר֤וֹן יְהֹוָה֙ עַד־הָעֶ֔רֶב ה֖וּא וְזִקְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּעֲל֥וּ עָפָ֖ר עַל־רֹאשָֽׁם׃
καὶ διέρρηξεν Ἰησοῦς τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔπεσεν Ἰησοῦς ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐναντίον κυρίου ἕως ἑσπέρας αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπεβάλοντο χοῦν ἐπὶ τὰς κεφαλὰς αὐτῶν
Josue vero scidit vestimenta sua, et pronus cecidit in terram coram arca Domini usque ad vesperam, tam ipse quam omnes senes Israël : miseruntque pulverem super capita sua,
ወሠጠጠ ፡ አልባሲሁ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ወወድቀ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ በገጹ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ታቦቱ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ እስከ ፡ ሰርክ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወሊቃናቲሆሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ወወደዩ ፡ መሬተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ርእሶሙ ።
Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before Yahweh’s ark until the evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.
7:7
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֲהָ֣הּ׀ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֗ה לָ֠מָה הֵעֲבַ֨רְתָּ הַעֲבִ֜יר אֶת־הָעָ֤ם הַזֶּה֙ אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן לָתֵ֥ת אֹתָ֛נוּ בְּיַ֥ד הָאֱמֹרִ֖י לְהַאֲבִידֵ֑נוּ וְלוּ֙ הוֹאַ֣לְנוּ וַנֵּ֔שֶׁב בְּעֵ֖בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς δέομαι κύριε ἵνα τί διεβίβασεν ὁ παῖς σου τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον τὸν Ιορδάνην παραδοῦναι αὐτὸν τῷ Αμορραίῳ ἀπολέσαι ἡμᾶς καὶ εἰ κατεμείναμεν καὶ κατῳκίσθημεν παρὰ τὸν Ιορδάνην
et dixit Josue : Heu Domine Deus, quid voluisti traducere populum istum Jordanem fluvium, ut traderes nos in manus Amorrhaei, et perderes ? utinam ut coepimus, mansissemus trans Jordanem.
ወይቤ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ገነይኩ ፡ ለከ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ለምንት ፡ አዕድዎ ፡ አዕደዎሙ ፡ ገብርከ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዮርዳንስ ፡ ከመ ፡ ታግብኦሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴሆሙ ፡ ለአሞሬዎን ፡ ወከመ ፡ ታጥፍአነ ፤ ሶበ ፡ ኀደርነ ፡ ወነበርነ ፡ ማዕዶተ ፡ ዮርዳንስ ።
Joshua said, “Alas, Lord Yahweh, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? I wish that we had been content and lived beyond the Jordan!
7:8
בִּ֖י אֲדֹנָ֑י מָ֣ה אֹמַ֔ר אַ֠חֲרֵ֠י אֲשֶׁ֨ר הָפַ֧ךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל עֹ֖רֶף לִפְנֵ֥י אֹיְבָֽיו׃
καὶ τί ἐρῶ ἐπεὶ μετέβαλεν Ισραηλ αὐχένα ἀπέναντι τοῦ ἐχθροῦ αὐτοῦ
Mi Domine Deus, quid dicam, videns Israëlem hostibus suis terga vertentem ?
እግዚኦ ፡ ወምንተ ፡ እንከ ፡ እብል ፡ ናሁ ፡ ሜጠ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ዘባኖ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ፀሩ ።
Oh, Lord, what shall I say, after Israel has turned their backs before their enemies?
7:9
וְיִשְׁמְע֣וּ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֗י וְכֹל֙ יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ וְנָסַ֣בּוּ עָלֵ֔ינוּ וְהִכְרִ֥יתוּ אֶת־שְׁמֵ֖נוּ מִן־הָאָ֑רֶץ וּמַֽה־תַּעֲשֵׂ֖ה לְשִׁמְךָ֥ הַגָּדֽוֹל׃
καὶ ἀκούσας ὁ Χαναναῖος καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὴν γῆν περικυκλώσουσιν ἡμᾶς καὶ ἐκτρίψουσιν ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς καὶ τί ποιήσεις τὸ ὄνομά σου τὸ μέγα
Audient Chananaei, et omnes habitatores terrae, et pariter conglobati circumdabunt nos, atque delebunt nomen nostrum de terra : et quid facies magno nomini tuo ?
ወእምከመ ፡ ሰምዑ ፡ ከናአን ፡ ወኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ የዐግቱነ ፡ ወያጠፍኡነ ፡ እምነ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወምንተ ፡ ተሬሲ ፡ ለስምከ ፡ ዐቢይ ።
For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and will surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. What will you do for your great name?”
7:10
וַיֹּ֧אמֶר יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ קֻ֣ם לָ֑ךְ לָ֣מָּה זֶּ֔ה אַתָּ֖ה נֹפֵ֥ל עַל־פָּנֶֽיךָ׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Ἰησοῦν ἀνάστηθι ἵνα τί τοῦτο σὺ πέπτωκας ἐπὶ πρόσωπόν σου
Dixitque Dominus ad Josue : Surge : cur jaces pronus in terra ?
ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለኢየሱስ ፡ ተንሥእ ፡ ወለምንት ፡ ትወድቅ ፡ አንተ ፡ በገጽከ ።
Yahweh said to Joshua, “Get up! Why have you fallen on your face like that?
7:11
חָטָא֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְגַם֙ עָבְר֣וּ אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּ֖יתִי אוֹתָ֑ם וְגַ֤ם לָֽקְחוּ֙ מִן־הַחֵ֔רֶם וְגַ֤ם גָּֽנְבוּ֙ וְגַ֣ם כִּֽחֲשׁ֔וּ וְגַ֖ם שָׂ֥מוּ בִכְלֵיהֶֽם׃
ἡμάρτηκεν ὁ λαὸς καὶ παρέβη τὴν διαθήκην ἣν διεθέμην πρὸς αὐτούς καὶ κλέψαντες ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀναθέματος ἐνέβαλον εἰς τὰ σκεύη αὐτῶν
Peccavit Israël, et praevaricatus est pactum meum : tuleruntque de anathemate, et furati sunt atque mentiti, et absconderunt inter vasa sua.
አበሱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወክሕዱ ፡ በኪዳንየ ፡ ዘተካየድኩ ፡ ምስሌሆሙ ፡ ወነሥኡ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ዘሕሩም ፡ ወሰረቁ ፡ ወወደዩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ንዋያቲሆሙ ።
Israel has sinned. Yes, they have even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them. Yes, they have even taken some of the devoted things, and have also stolen, and also deceived. They have even put it among their own stuff.
7:12
וְלֹ֨א יֻכְל֜וּ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל לָקוּם֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אֹיְבֵיהֶ֔ם עֹ֗רֶף יִפְנוּ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אֹיְבֵיהֶ֔ם כִּ֥י הָי֖וּ לְחֵ֑רֶם לֹ֤א אוֹסִיף֙ לִֽהְי֣וֹת עִמָּכֶ֔ם אִם־לֹ֥א תַשְׁמִ֛ידוּ הַחֵ֖רֶם מִֽקִּרְבְּכֶֽם׃
οὐ μὴ δύνωνται οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ὑποστῆναι κατὰ πρόσωπον τῶν ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν αὐχένα ἐπιστρέψουσιν ἔναντι τῶν ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν ὅτι ἐγενήθησαν ἀνάθεμα οὐ προσθήσω ἔτι εἶναι μεθ’ ὑμῶν ἐὰν μὴ ἐξάρητε τὸ ἀνάθεμα ἐξ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν
Nec poterit Israël stare ante hostes suos, eosque fugiet : quia pollutus est anathemate. Non ero ultra vobiscum, donec conteratis eum qui hujus sceleris reus est.
ወኢይክሉ ፡ እንከ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ቀዊመ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ፀሮሙ ፡ ወይመይጡ ፡ ዘባናቲሆሙ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ፀሮሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ ርጉማነ ፡ ኮኑ ፡ ወኢይደግም ፡ እንከ ፡ ሀልዎ ፡ ምስሌክሙ ፡ ለእመ ፡ ኢያውጻእክሙ ፡ እምኔክሙ ፡ ዘርጉም ።
Therefore the children of Israel can’t stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction. I will not be with you any more, unless you destroy the devoted things from among you.
7:13
קֻ֚ם קַדֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־הָעָ֔ם וְאָמַרְתָּ֖ הִתְקַדְּשׁ֣וּ לְמָחָ֑ר כִּ֣י כֹה֩ אָמַ֨ר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל חֵ֤רֶם בְּקִרְבְּךָ֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹ֣א תוּכַ֗ל לָקוּם֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אֹיְבֶ֔יךָ עַד־הֲסִֽירְכֶ֥ם הַחֵ֖רֶם מִֽקִּרְבְּכֶֽם׃
ἀναστὰς ἁγίασον τὸν λαὸν καὶ εἰπὸν ἁγιασθῆναι εἰς αὔριον τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ τὸ ἀνάθεμα ἐν ὑμῖν ἐστιν οὐ δυνήσεσθε ἀντιστῆναι ἀπέναντι τῶν ἐχθρῶν ὑμῶν ἕως ἂν ἐξάρητε τὸ ἀνάθεμα ἐξ ὑμῶν
Surge, sanctifica populum, et dic eis : Sanctificamini in crastinum : haec enim dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Anathema in medio tui est, Israël : non poteris stare coram hostibus tuis, donec deleatur ex te qui hoc contaminatus est scelere.
ወተንሥእ ፡ ቀድሶሙ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ወያንጽሑ ፡ ርእሶሙ ፡ ለጌሠም ፡ እስመ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ዘሕሩምአ ፡ ሀለወአ ፡ ውስቴትክሙ ፡ ወኢትክሉ ፡ እንከ ፡ ቀዊመ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ፀርክሙ ፡ እስከ ፡ ታሴስሉ ፡ እምኔክሙአ ፡ ዘሕሩምአ ።
Get up! Sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, for Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, “There is a devoted thing among you, Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted thing from among you.”
7:14
וְנִקְרַבְתֶּ֥ם בַּבֹּ֖קֶר לְשִׁבְטֵיכֶ֑ם וְהָיָ֡ה הַשֵּׁ֩בֶט֩ אֲשֶׁר־יִלְכְּדֶ֨נּוּ יְהֹוָ֜ה יִקְרַ֣ב לַמִּשְׁפָּח֗וֹת וְהַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֞ה אֲשֶֽׁר־יִלְכְּדֶ֤נָּה יְהֹוָה֙ תִּקְרַ֣ב לַבָּתִּ֔ים וְהַבַּ֙יִת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִלְכְּדֶ֣נּוּ יְהֹוָ֔ה יִקְרַ֖ב לַגְּבָרִֽים׃
καὶ συναχθήσεσθε πάντες τὸ πρωὶ κατὰ φυλάς καὶ ἔσται ἡ φυλή ἣν ἂν δείξῃ κύριος προσάξετε κατὰ δήμους καὶ τὸν δῆμον ὃν ἐὰν δείξῃ κύριος προσάξετε κατ’ οἶκον καὶ τὸν οἶκον ὃν ἐὰν δείξῃ κύριος προσάξετε κατ’ ἄνδρα
Accedetisque mane singuli per tribus vestras : et quamcumque tribum sors invenerit, accedet per cognationes suas, et cognatio per domos, domusque per viros.
ወይጊሡ ፡ በጽባሕ ፡ ወይትጋብኡ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ በበ ፡ ሕዘቢሆሙ ፡ ወሕዝብ ፡ እንተ ፡ አርአየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ [ላዕሌሃ ፡] ለይትፋለጡ ፡ በበ ፡ ነገዶሙ ፡ ይቁሙ ፡ ወነገድ ፡ እንተ ፡ አርአየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ላዕሌሃ ፡ ለይትፋለጡ ፡ ወይቁሙ ፡ በበ ፡ ቤቶሙ ፡ ወቤት ፡ ዘአርአየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ላዕሌሃ ፡ ለይትፋለጡ ፡ ወለይቁሙ ፡ በበ ፡ ብእሲሁ ።
In the morning therefore you shall be brought near by your tribes. It shall be that the tribe which Yahweh selects shall come near by families. The family which Yahweh selects shall come near by households. The household which Yahweh selects shall come near man by man.
7:15
וְהָיָה֙ הַנִּלְכָּ֣ד בַּחֵ֔רֶם יִשָּׂרֵ֣ף בָּאֵ֔שׁ אֹת֖וֹ וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֑וֹ כִּ֤י עָבַר֙ אֶת־בְּרִ֣ית יְהֹוָ֔ה וְכִֽי־עָשָׂ֥ה נְבָלָ֖ה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
καὶ ὃς ἂν ἐνδειχθῇ κατακαυθήσεται ἐν πυρὶ καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐστὶν αὐτῷ ὅτι παρέβη τὴν διαθήκην κυρίου καὶ ἐποίησεν ἀνόμημα ἐν Ισραηλ
Et quicumque ille in hoc facinore fuerit deprehensus, comburetur igni cum omni substantia sua : quoniam praevaricatus est pactum Domini, et fecit nefas in Israël.
ወብእሲ ፡ ዘአርአየ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ለያውዕይዎ ፡ በእሳት ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ ዘዚአሁ ፡ እስመ ፡ ክሕደ ፡ በኪዳኑ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወእስመ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ኀጢአተ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ።
It shall be, that he who is taken with the devoted thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed Yahweh’s covenant, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”
7:16
וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֤ם יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ בַּבֹּ֔קֶר וַיַּקְרֵ֥ב אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לִשְׁבָטָ֑יו וַיִּלָּכֵ֖ד שֵׁ֥בֶט יְהוּדָֽה׃
καὶ ὤρθρισεν Ἰησοῦς καὶ προσήγαγεν τὸν λαὸν κατὰ φυλάς καὶ ἐνεδείχθη ἡ φυλὴ Ιουδα
Surgens itaque Josue mane, applicuit Israël per tribus suas, et inventa est tribus Juda.
ወጌሠ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ወአስተጋብኦሙ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ በበ ፡ ሕዘቢሆሙ ፡ ወአስተርአየ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ ይሁዳ ።
So Joshua rose up early in the morning and brought Israel near by their tribes. The tribe of Judah was selected.
7:17
וַיַּקְרֵב֙ אֶת־מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת יְהוּדָ֔ה וַיִּלְכֹּ֕ד אֵ֖ת מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַזַּרְחִ֑י וַיַּקְרֵ֞ב אֶת־מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת הַזַּרְחִי֙ לַגְּבָרִ֔ים וַיִּלָּכֵ֖ד זַבְדִּֽי׃
καὶ προσήχθη κατὰ δήμους καὶ ἐνεδείχθη δῆμος ὁ Ζαραϊ καὶ προσήχθη κατὰ ἄνδρα
Quae cum juxta familias suas esset oblata, inventa est familia Zare. Illam quoque per domos offerens, reperit Zabdi :
ወተፈልጡ ፡ በበ ፡ ነገዶሙ ፡ ዘእምነ ፡ ይሁዳ ፡ ወአስተርአየ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ነገደ ፡ ዛሪ ፡ ወተፈልጠ ፡ ነገደ ፡ ዛሪ ፡ በበ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ወአስተርአየ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ዘንብሪ ።
He brought near the family of Judah, and he selected the family of the Zerahites. He brought near the family of the Zerahites man by man, and Zabdi was selected.
7:18
וַיַּקְרֵ֥ב אֶת־בֵּית֖וֹ לַגְּבָרִ֑ים וַיִּלָּכֵ֗ד עָכָ֞ן בֶּן־כַּרְמִ֧י בֶן־זַבְדִּ֛י בֶּן־זֶ֖רַח לְמַטֵּ֥ה יְהוּדָֽה׃
καὶ ἐνεδείχθη Αχαρ υἱὸς Ζαμβρι υἱοῦ Ζαρα
cujus domum in singulos dividens viros, invenit Achan filium Charmi filii Zabdi filii Zare de tribu Juda.
ወተፈልጠ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ዘንብሪ ፡ በበ ፡ ብእሲሁ ፡ ወአስተርአየ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ አካን ፡ ወልደ ፡ ከርሚ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዛራ ፡ ዘእምነ ፡ ይሁዳ ።
He brought near his household man by man, and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was selected.
7:19
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֶל־עָכָ֗ן בְּנִי֙ שִֽׂים־נָ֣א כָב֗וֹד לַיהֹוָ֛ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְתֶן־ל֣וֹ תוֹדָ֑ה וְהַגֶּד־נָ֥א לִי֙ מֶ֣ה עָשִׂ֔יתָ אַל־תְּכַחֵ֖ד מִמֶּֽנִּי׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τῷ Αχαρ δὸς δόξαν σήμερον τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ Ισραηλ καὶ δὸς τὴν ἐξομολόγησιν καὶ ἀνάγγειλόν μοι τί ἐποίησας καὶ μὴ κρύψῃς ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ
Et ait Josue ad Achan : Fili mi, da gloriam Domino Deo Israël, et confitere, atque indica mihi quid feceris, ne abscondas.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ለአካን ፡ ወልድየ ፡ አእኵቶ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወእመኖ ፡ ወአይድዐኒ ፡ ምንተ ፡ ገበርከ ፡ ወኢትኅባእ ፡ እምኔየ ።
Joshua said to Achan, “My son, please give glory to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and make confession to him. Tell me now what you have done! Don’t hide it from me!”
7:20
וַיַּ֧עַן עָכָ֛ן אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אׇמְנָ֗ה אָֽנֹכִ֤י חָטָ֙אתִי֙ לַֽיהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְכָזֹ֥את וְכָזֹ֖את עָשִֽׂיתִי׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Αχαρ τῷ Ἰησοῖ καὶ εἶπεν ἀληθῶς ἥμαρτον ἐναντίον κυρίου θεοῦ Ισραηλ οὕτως καὶ οὕτως ἐποίησα
Responditque Achan Josue, et dixit ei : Vere ego peccavi Domino Deo Israël, et sic et sic feci.
ወአውሥኦ ፡ አካን ፡ ለኢየሱስ ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ አማን ፡ አነ ፡ አበስኩ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ወከመዝ ፡ ገበርኩ ።
Achan answered Joshua, and said, “I have truly sinned against Yahweh, the God of Israel, and this is what I have done.
7:21
(ואראה) [וָאֵ֣רֶא] בַשָּׁלָ֡ל אַדֶּ֣רֶת שִׁנְעָר֩ אַחַ֨ת טוֹבָ֜ה וּמָאתַ֧יִם שְׁקָלִ֣ים כֶּ֗סֶף וּלְשׁ֨וֹן זָהָ֤ב אֶחָד֙ חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים שְׁקָלִים֙ מִשְׁקָל֔וֹ וָאֶחְמְדֵ֖ם וָאֶקָּחֵ֑ם וְהִנָּ֨ם טְמוּנִ֥ים בָּאָ֛רֶץ בְּת֥וֹךְ הָאׇהֳלִ֖י וְהַכֶּ֥סֶף תַּחְתֶּֽיהָ׃
εἶδον ἐν τῇ προνομῇ ψιλὴν ποικίλην καλὴν καὶ διακόσια δίδραχμα ἀργυρίου καὶ γλῶσσαν μίαν χρυσῆν πεντήκοντα διδράχμων καὶ ἐνθυμηθεὶς αὐτῶν ἔλαβον καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτὰ ἐγκέκρυπται ἐν τῇ γῇ ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ μου καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον κέκρυπται ὑποκάτω αὐτῶν
Vidi enim inter spolia pallium coccineum valde bonum, et ducentos siclos argenti, regulamque auream quinquaginta siclorum : et concupiscens abstuli, et abscondi in terra contra medium tabernaculi mei, argentumque fossa humo operui.
ሶበ ፡ ርኢኩ ፡ በውስተ ፡ በርበር ፡ ልብሰ ፡ ዐሥቅ ፡ አሐደ ፡ ወክልኤ ፡ ምእተ ፡ (ጠፋልሐ ፡) ዲድረክመ ፡ ዘብሩር ፡ ወልሳን ፡ አሐቲ ፡ እንተ ፡ ወርቅ ፡ ተአክል ፡ ፶ዲድረክመ ፡ ተውላጣ ፡ ፈተውኩ ፡ ወነሣእኩ ፡ ወናሁ ፡ ሀለወ ፡ ድፉን ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብተራየ ፡ ወጠፋልሐ ፡ ብሩርኒ ፡ ሀለወ ፡ ድፉን ፡ መትሕቱ ።
When I saw among the plunder a beautiful Babylonian robe, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, then I coveted them and took them. Behold, they are hidden in the ground in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it.”
7:22
וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ מַלְאָכִ֔ים וַיָּרֻ֖צוּ הָאֹ֑הֱלָה וְהִנֵּ֧ה טְמוּנָ֛ה בְּאׇהֳל֖וֹ וְהַכֶּ֥סֶף תַּחְתֶּֽיהָ׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ἰησοῦς ἀγγέλους καὶ ἔδραμον εἰς τὴν σκηνὴν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν καὶ ταῦτα ἦν ἐγκεκρυμμένα εἰς τὴν σκηνήν καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον ὑποκάτω αὐτῶν
Misit ergo Josue ministros : qui currentes ad tabernaculum illius, repererunt cuncta abscondita in eodem loco, et argentum simul.
ወፈነወ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ደቆ ፡ ወሮጹ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብተራሁ ፡ ወሀለወ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ድፉን ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብተራሁ ፡ ወብሩርኒ ፡ ሀለወ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ መትሕቶ ።
So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent. Behold, it was hidden in his tent, with the silver under it.
7:23
וַיִּקָּחוּם֙ מִתּ֣וֹךְ הָאֹ֔הֶל וַיְבִאוּם֙ אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ וְאֶ֖ל כׇּל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּצִּקֻ֖ם לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ ἐξήνεγκαν αὐτὰ ἐκ τῆς σκηνῆς καὶ ἤνεγκαν πρὸς Ἰησοῦν καὶ τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους Ισραηλ καὶ ἔθηκαν αὐτὰ ἔναντι κυρίου
Auferentesque de tentorio, tulerunt ea ad Josue, et ad omnes filios Israël, projeceruntque ante Dominum.
ወአውፅኡ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ደብተራሁ ፡ ወወሰዱ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ወኀበ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሊቃናተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወአንበሩ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
They took them from the middle of the tent, and brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel. They laid them down before Yahweh.
7:24
וַיִּקַּ֣ח יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ אֶת־עָכָ֣ן בֶּן־זֶ֡רַח וְאֶת־הַכֶּ֣סֶף וְאֶת־הָאַדֶּ֣רֶת וְֽאֶת־לְשׁ֣וֹן הַזָּהָ֡ב וְֽאֶת־בָּנָ֡יו וְֽאֶת־בְּנֹתָ֡יו וְאֶת־שׁוֹרוֹ֩ וְאֶת־חֲמֹר֨וֹ וְאֶת־צֹאנ֤וֹ וְאֶֽת־אׇהֳלוֹ֙ וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֔וֹ וְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עִמּ֑וֹ וַיַּעֲל֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם עֵ֥מֶק עָכֽוֹר׃
καὶ ἔλαβεν Ἰησοῦς τὸν Αχαρ υἱὸν Ζαρα καὶ ἀνήγαγεν αὐτὸν εἰς φάραγγα Αχωρ καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς μόσχους αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ὑποζύγια αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ πρόβατα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνήγαγεν αὐτοὺς εἰς Εμεκαχωρ
Tollens itaque Josue Achan filium Zare, argentumque et pallium, et auream regulam, filios quoque et filias ejus, boves et asinos et oves, ipsumque tabernaculum, et cunctam supellectilem (et omnis Israël cum eo), duxerunt eos ad vallem Achor :
ወነሥኦ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ለአካን ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዛራ ፡ ወለውእቱ ፡ ብሩር ፡ ወለውእቱ ፡ ልብስ ፡ ወለይእቲ ፡ ልሳን ፡ እንተ ፡ ወርቅ ፡ ወወሰዶሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቈላተ ፡ አኮር ፡ ወለደቂቁ ፡ ወለአዋልዲሁ ፡ ወለአልህምቲሁ ፡ ወለአባግዒሁ ፡ ወለአእዱጊሁ ፡ ወለደብተራሁ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ ንዋዩ ፡ ወወሰዶሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኤሜቃኮር ።
Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his cattle, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had; and they brought them up to the valley of Achor.
7:25
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ מֶ֣ה עֲכַרְתָּ֔נוּ יַעְכׇּרְךָ֥ יְהֹוָ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וַיִּרְגְּמ֨וּ אֹת֤וֹ כׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶ֔בֶן וַיִּשְׂרְפ֤וּ אֹתָם֙ בָּאֵ֔שׁ וַיִּסְקְל֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם בָּאֲבָנִֽים׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τῷ Αχαρ τί ὠλέθρευσας ἡμᾶς ἐξολεθρεύσαι σε κύριος καθὰ καὶ σήμερον καὶ ἐλιθοβόλησαν αὐτὸν λίθοις πᾶς Ισραηλ
ubi dixit Josue : Quia turbasti nos, exturbet te Dominus in die hac. Lapidavitque eum omnis Israël : et cuncta quae illius erant, igne consumpta sunt.
ወይቤሎ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ለአካን ፡ ለምንት ፡ ሠሮከነ ፤ ለይሠሩከ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በከመ ፡ ዮም ፡ ወወገርዎ ፡ በእብን ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወአውዐይዎሙ ፡ በእሳት ፡ ወወገርዎሙ ፡ በእብን ።
Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? Yahweh will trouble you today.” All Israel stoned him with stones, and they burned them with fire and stoned them with stones.
7:26
וַיָּקִ֨ימוּ עָלָ֜יו גַּל־אֲבָנִ֣ים גָּד֗וֹל עַ֚ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה וַיָּ֥שׇׁב יְהֹוָ֖ה מֵחֲר֣וֹן אַפּ֑וֹ עַל־כֵּ֠ן קָרָ֞א שֵׁ֣ם הַמָּק֤וֹם הַהוּא֙ עֵ֣מֶק עָכ֔וֹר עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐπέστησαν αὐτῷ σωρὸν λίθων μέγαν καὶ ἐπαύσατο κύριος τοῦ θυμοῦ τῆς ὀργῆς διὰ τοῦτο ἐπωνόμασεν αὐτὸ Εμεκαχωρ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης
Congregaveruntque super eum acervum magnum lapidum, qui permanet usque in praesentem diem. Et aversus est furor Domini ab eis. Vocatumque est nomen loci illius, vallis Achor, usque hodie.
ወአቀሙ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ሐውልተ ፡ እንተ ፡ እብን ፡ እስከ ፡ ዮም ፡ ወእስከ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ወአኅደገ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ መንሱተ ፡ መዐቱ ፡ ወበበይነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ሰመዮ ፡ ኤሜቃኮር ፡ እስከ ፡ ዮም ፡ ወእስከ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ዕለት ።
They raised over him a great heap of stones that remains to this day. Yahweh turned from the fierceness of his anger. Therefore the name of that place was called “The valley of Achor” to this day.
