6:1
וִֽירִיחוֹ֙ סֹגֶ֣רֶת וּמְסֻגֶּ֔רֶת מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֵ֥ין יוֹצֵ֖א וְאֵ֥ין בָּֽא׃ {ס}
καὶ Ιεριχω συγκεκλεισμένη καὶ ὠχυρωμένη καὶ οὐθεὶς ἐξεπορεύετο ἐξ αὐτῆς οὐδὲ εἰσεπορεύετο
Jericho autem clausa erat atque munita, timore filiorum Israël, et nullus egredi audebat aut ingredi.
ወኢያሪኮሰ ፡ ዕጹት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ወጥቅም ፡ ዘላዕሌሃ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘይወፅእ ፡ እምውስቴታ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘይበውእ ።
Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel. No one went out, and no one came in.
6:2
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ רְאֵה֙ נָתַ֣תִּי בְיָֽדְךָ֔ אֶת־יְרִיח֖וֹ וְאֶת־מַלְכָּ֑הּ גִּבּוֹרֵ֖י הֶחָֽיִל׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Ἰησοῦν ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ παραδίδωμι ὑποχείριόν σου τὴν Ιεριχω καὶ τὸν βασιλέα αὐτῆς τὸν ἐν αὐτῇ δυνατοὺς ὄντας ἐν ἰσχύι
Dixitque Dominus ad Josue : Ecce dedi in manu tua Jericho, et regem ejus, omnesque fortes viros.
ወይቤሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለኢየሱስ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ኣገብኣ ፡ ለኢያሪኮ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደዊክሙ ፡ ወለንጉሥ ፡ ዘውስቴታ ፡ እለ ፡ ጽኑዓን ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ወኀያላን ።
Yahweh said to Joshua, “Behold, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor.
6:3
וְסַבֹּתֶ֣ם אֶת־הָעִ֗יר כֹּ֚ל אַנְשֵׁ֣י הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה הַקֵּ֥יף אֶת־הָעִ֖יר פַּ֣עַם אֶחָ֑ת כֹּ֥ה תַעֲשֶׂ֖ה שֵׁ֥שֶׁת יָמִֽים׃
σὺ δὲ περίστησον αὐτῇ τοὺς μαχίμους κύκλῳ
Circuite urbem cuncti bellatores semel per diem : sic facietis sex diebus.
ወአንተሰ ፡ አቅሞሙ ፡ ላዕሌሃ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዐውዳ ፡ ለኵሎሙ ፡ መስተቃትላን ፡ ወይዑድዋ ፡ ለሀገር ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ዕደው ፡ መስተቃትላን ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዐውዳ ፡ በይእቲ ፡ ሀገር ፡ በበ ፡ ምዕር ፡ ወከማሁ ፡ ግበሩ ፡ ሰዱሰ ፡ መዋዕለ ።
All of your men of war shall march around the city, going around the city once. You shall do this six days.
6:4
וְשִׁבְעָ֣ה כֹהֲנִ֡ים יִשְׂאוּ֩ שִׁבְעָ֨ה שׁוֹפְר֤וֹת הַיּֽוֹבְלִים֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הָאָר֔וֹן וּבַיּוֹם֙ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י תָּסֹ֥בּוּ אֶת־הָעִ֖יר שֶׁ֣בַע פְּעָמִ֑ים וְהַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים יִתְקְע֖וּ בַּשּׁוֹפָרֽוֹת׃
—
Septimo autem die, sacerdotes tollant septem buccinas, quarum usus est in jubilaeo, et praecedant arcam foederis : septiesque circuibitis civitatem, et sacerdotes clangent buccinis.
ወበሳብዕቱ ፡ ካህናት ፡ ይነሥኡ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ አቅርንተ ፡ ዘኢዮቤል ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ታቦት ፡ ወአመ ፡ ሳብዕት ፡ ዕለት ፡ ስብዕ ፡ ይዑድዋ ፡ ለሀገር ፡ ወይንፍኁ ፡ ካህናት ፡ በእሙንቱ ፡ አቅርንት ።
Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.
6:5
וְהָיָ֞ה בִּמְשֹׁ֣ךְ׀ בְּקֶ֣רֶן הַיּוֹבֵ֗ל (בשמעכם) [כְּשׇׁמְעֲכֶם֙] אֶת־ק֣וֹל הַשּׁוֹפָ֔ר יָרִ֥יעוּ כׇל־הָעָ֖ם תְּרוּעָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֑ה וְנָ֨פְלָ֜ה חוֹמַ֤ת הָעִיר֙ תַּחְתֶּ֔יהָ וְעָל֥וּ הָעָ֖ם אִ֥ישׁ נֶגְדּֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἂν σαλπίσητε τῇ σάλπιγγι ἀνακραγέτω πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἅμα καὶ ἀνακραγόντων αὐτῶν πεσεῖται αὐτόματα τὰ τείχη τῆς πόλεως καὶ εἰσελεύσεται πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ὁρμήσας ἕκαστος κατὰ πρόσωπον εἰς τὴν πόλιν
Cumque insonuerit vox tubae longior atque concisior, et in auribus vestris increpuerit, conclamabit omnis populus vociferatione maxima, et muri funditus corruent civitatis, ingredienturque singuli per locum contra quem steterint.
ወሶበ ፡ ነፍኁ ፡ በእሙንቱ ፡ አቅርንት ፡ ዘኢዮቤል ፡ እምከመ ፡ ሰማዕክሙ ፡ ቃለ ፡ ቀርን ፡ ለይወውዑ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ኅቡረ ፡ ወእምከመ ፡ ወውዑ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ይወድቅ ፡ ለሊሁ ፡ አረፋቲሃ ፡ ለሀገር ፡ ታሕቴሆሙ ፡ ወይ[ባ]እ ፡ እንከ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወይሩጹ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ገጹ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሀገር ።
It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the city wall will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, every man straight in front of him.”
6:6
וַיִּקְרָ֞א יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ בִּן־נוּן֙ אֶל־הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם שְׂא֖וּ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן הַבְּרִ֑ית וְשִׁבְעָ֣ה כֹהֲנִ֗ים יִשְׂאוּ֙ שִׁבְעָ֤ה שֽׁוֹפְרוֹת֙ יֽוֹבְלִ֔ים לִפְנֵ֖י אֲר֥וֹן יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Ἰησοῦς ὁ τοῦ Ναυη πρὸς τοὺς ἱερεῖς
Vocavit ergo Josue filius Nun sacerdotes, et dixit ad eos : Tollite arcam foederis : et septem alii sacerdotes tollant septem jubilaeorum buccinas, et incedant ante arcam Domini.
ወቦአ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ካህናት ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ንሥኡ ፡ ታቦተ ፡ ሕግ ፡ ወሰብዐቱ ፡ ካህናት ፡ ይንሥኡ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ መጣቅዕተ ፡ ዘኢዮቤል ፡ በቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh’s ark.”
6:7
(ויאמרו) [וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙] אֶל־הָעָ֔ם עִבְר֖וּ וְסֹ֣בּוּ אֶת־הָעִ֑יר וְהֶ֣חָל֔וּץ יַעֲבֹ֕ר לִפְנֵ֖י אֲר֥וֹן יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς λέγων παραγγείλατε τῷ λαῷ περιελθεῖν καὶ κυκλῶσαι τὴν πόλιν καὶ οἱ μάχιμοι παραπορευέσθωσαν ἐνωπλισμένοι ἐναντίον κυρίου
Ad populum quoque ait : Ite, et circuite civitatem, armati, praecedentes arcam Domini.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፡ አዝዝዎሙ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይሑሩ ፡ ወይዑድዋ ፡ ለሀገር ፡ ወመስተቃትላንሂ ፡ ይሑሩ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ሐቅሎሙ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ታቦቱ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ።
They said to the people, “Advance! March around the city, and let the armed men pass on before Yahweh’s ark.”
6:8
וַיְהִ֗י כֶּאֱמֹ֣ר יְהוֹשֻׁ֘עַ֮ אֶל־הָעָם֒ וְשִׁבְעָ֣ה הַכֹּהֲנִ֡ים נֹשְׂאִים֩ שִׁבְעָ֨ה שׁוֹפְר֤וֹת הַיּֽוֹבְלִים֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה עָבְר֕וּ וְתָֽקְע֖וּ בַּשּׁוֹפָר֑וֹת וַֽאֲרוֹן֙ בְּרִ֣ית יְהֹוָ֔ה הֹלֵ֖ךְ אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ ἑπτὰ ἱερεῖς ἔχοντες ἑπτὰ σάλπιγγας ἱερὰς παρελθέτωσαν ὡσαύτως ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου καὶ σημαινέτωσαν εὐτόνως καὶ ἡ κιβωτὸς τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου ἐπακολουθείτω
Cumque Josue verba finisset, et septem sacerdotes septem buccinis clangerent ante arcam foederis Domini,
ወበከመ ፡ ይቤሎሙ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ነሥኡ ፡ ሰብዐቱ ፡ ካህናት ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ መጣቅዕተ ፡ ቅዱሳነ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይሑሩ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወሐዊሮሙ ፡ ይጥቅዑ ፡ በኀይል ፡ ወበትእምርት ፡ ወታቦተ ፡ ሕጉሂ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ትተልዎሙ ።
It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of Yahweh’s covenant followed them.
6:9
וְהֶחָל֣וּץ הֹלֵ֔ךְ לִפְנֵי֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים (תקעו) [תֹּקְעֵ֖י] הַשּׁוֹפָר֑וֹת וְהַֽמְאַסֵּ֗ף הֹלֵךְ֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י הָאָר֔וֹן הָל֖וֹךְ וְתָק֥וֹעַ בַּשּׁוֹפָרֽוֹת׃
οἱ δὲ μάχιμοι ἔμπροσθεν παραπορευέσθωσαν καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ οὐραγοῦντες ὀπίσω τῆς κιβωτοῦ τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου πορευόμενοι καὶ σαλπίζοντες
omnisque praecederet armatus exercitus, reliquum vulgus arcam sequebatur, ac buccinis omnia concrepabant.
ወመስተቃትላንሰ ፡ ፍጽመ ፡ የሐውሩ ፡ ወካህናት ፡ ይጠቅዑ ፡ በመጣቅዕት ፡ ወእለሂ ፡ ይኬውሉ ፡ ድኅረ ፡ ታቦተ ፡ ሕጉ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ የሐውሩ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይነፍኁ ፡ ቀርነ ።
The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the ark went after them. The trumpets sounded as they went.
6:10
וְאֶת־הָעָם֩ צִוָּ֨ה יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ לֵאמֹ֗ר לֹ֤א תָרִ֙יעוּ֙ וְלֹא־תַשְׁמִ֣יעוּ אֶת־קֽוֹלְכֶ֔ם וְלֹא־יֵצֵ֥א מִפִּיכֶ֖ם דָּבָ֑ר עַ֠ד י֣וֹם אׇמְרִ֧י אֲלֵיכֶ֛ם הָרִ֖יעוּ וַהֲרִיעֹתֶֽם׃
τῷ δὲ λαῷ ἐνετείλατο Ἰησοῦς λέγων μὴ βοᾶτε μηδὲ ἀκουσάτω μηθεὶς ὑμῶν τὴν φωνήν ἕως ἂν ἡμέραν αὐτὸς διαγγείλῃ ἀναβοῆσαι καὶ τότε ἀναβοήσετε
Praeceperat autem Josue populo, dicens : Non clamabitis, nec audietur vox vestra, neque ullus sermo ex ore vestro egredietur, donec veniat dies in quo dicam vobis : Clamate, et vociferamini.
ወአዘዞሙ ፡ [ኢየሱስ ፡] ለሕዝብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢያውክቱ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘይስማዕ ፡ ቃሎሙ ፡ መኑሂ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ኢይፃእ ፡ ቃል ፡ እምነ ፡ አፉሆሙ ፡ እስከ ፡ አመ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ይኤዝዞሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይወውዑ ።
Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.”
6:11
וַיַּסֵּ֤ב אֲרוֹן־יְהֹוָה֙ אֶת־הָעִ֔יר הַקֵּ֖ף פַּ֣עַם אֶחָ֑ת וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה וַיָּלִ֖ינוּ בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ {פ}
καὶ περιελθοῦσα ἡ κιβωτὸς τῆς διαθήκης τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν πόλιν εὐθέως ἀπῆλθεν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἐκεῖ
Circuivit ergo arca Domini civitatem semel per diem, et reversa in castra mansit ibi.
ወሖረት ፡ ታቦተ ፡ ሕጉ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወዖደታ ፡ ለሀገር ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ገብአት ፡ ውስተ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ወቤተት ፡ ህየ ።
So he caused Yahweh’s ark to go around the city, circling it once. Then they came into the camp, and stayed in the camp.
6:12
וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֥ם יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ בַּבֹּ֑קֶר וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים אֶת־אֲר֥וֹן יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ δευτέρᾳ ἀνέστη Ἰησοῦς τὸ πρωί καὶ ἦραν οἱ ἱερεῖς τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου
Igitur Josue de nocte consurgente, tulerunt sacerdotes arcam Domini,
ወበሳኒታ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ተንሥአ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ በጽባሕ ፡ ወካህናትኒ ፡ ጾሩ ፡ ታቦተ ፡ ሕጉ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ።
Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up Yahweh’s ark.
6:13
וְשִׁבְעָ֣ה הַכֹּהֲנִ֡ים נֹשְׂאִים֩ שִׁבְעָ֨ה שׁוֹפְר֜וֹת הַיֹּבְלִ֗ים לִפְנֵי֙ אֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֔ה הֹלְכִ֣ים הָל֔וֹךְ וְתָקְע֖וּ בַּשּׁוֹפָר֑וֹת וְהֶחָלוּץ֙ הֹלֵ֣ךְ לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם וְהַֽמְאַסֵּ֗ף הֹלֵךְ֙ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ אֲר֣וֹן יְהֹוָ֔ה (הולך) [הָל֖וֹךְ] וְתָק֥וֹעַ בַּשּׁוֹפָרֽוֹת׃
καὶ οἱ ἑπτὰ ἱερεῖς οἱ φέροντες τὰς σάλπιγγας τὰς ἑπτὰ προεπορεύοντο ἐναντίον κυρίου καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα εἰσεπορεύοντο οἱ μάχιμοι καὶ ὁ λοιπὸς ὄχλος ὄπισθε τῆς κιβωτοῦ τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐσάλπισαν ταῖς σάλπιγξι καὶ ὁ λοιπὸς ὄχλος ἅπας περιεκύκλωσε τὴν πόλιν ἐγγύθεν
et septem ex eis septem buccinas, quarum in jubilaeo usus est : praecedebantque arcam Domini ambulantes atque clangentes : et armatus populus ibat ante eos, vulgus autem reliquum sequebatur arcam, et buccinis personabat.
ወሰብዐት ፡ ካህናት ፡ ነሥኡ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ መጣቅዕተ ፡ ወሖሩ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ታቦቱ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ይተልው ፡ መስተቃትላን ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ይተልው ፡ እለ ፡ ተርፉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወየሐውሩ ፡ ድኅረ ፡ ታቦተ ፡ ሕጉ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይነፍኁ ፡ በአቅርንት ፡ ወካህናትኒ ፡ ይጠቅዑ ፡ በመጣቅዕት ።
The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of Yahweh’s ark went on continually, and blew the trumpets. The armed men went in front of them. The rear guard came after Yahweh’s ark. The trumpets sounded as they went.
6:14
וַיָּסֹ֨בּוּ אֶת־הָעִ֜יר בַּיּ֤וֹם הַשֵּׁנִי֙ פַּ֣עַם אַחַ֔ת וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה כֹּ֥ה עָשׂ֖וּ שֵׁ֥שֶׁת יָמִֽים׃
καὶ ἀπῆλθεν πάλιν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν οὕτως ἐποίει ἐπὶ ἓξ ἡμέρας
Circuieruntque civitatem secundo die semel, et reversi sunt in castra. Sic fecerunt sex diebus.
ወሕዝብኒ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘተርፈ ፡ ዖድዋ ፡ ለሀገር ፡ አመ ፡ ሳኒት ፡ ዕለት ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይቀርብዋ ፡ ወእምዝ ፡ ካዕበ ፡ ገብኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ትዕይንት ፡ ወከመዝ ፡ ገብሩ ፡ ሰዱሰ ፡ መዋዕለ ።
The second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. They did this six days.
6:15
וַיְהִ֣י׀ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י וַיַּשְׁכִּ֙מוּ֙ כַּעֲל֣וֹת הַשַּׁ֔חַר וַיָּסֹ֧בּוּ אֶת־הָעִ֛יר כַּמִּשְׁפָּ֥ט הַזֶּ֖ה שֶׁ֣בַע פְּעָמִ֑ים רַ֚ק בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא סָבְב֥וּ אֶת־הָעִ֖יר שֶׁ֥בַע פְּעָמִֽים׃
καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἀνέστησαν ὄρθρου καὶ περιήλθοσαν τὴν πόλιν ἑξάκις
Dies autem septimo, diluculo consurgentes, circuierunt urbem, sicut dispositum erat, septies.
ወኮነ ፡ አመ ፡ ሳብዕት ፡ ዕለት ፡ ተንሥኡ ፡ ጊዜ ፡ ይገውሕ ፡ ጽባሕ ፡ ወዖድዋ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ለሀገር ፡ ስብዕ ፡ ወዳእሙ ፡ በይእቲ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ዖድዋ ፡ ስብዕ ፡ ለሀገር ።
On the seventh day, they rose early at the dawning of the day, and marched around the city in the same way seven times. On this day only they marched around the city seven times.
6:16
וַֽיְהִי֙ בַּפַּ֣עַם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔ית תָּקְע֥וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים בַּשּׁוֹפָר֑וֹת וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ אֶל־הָעָם֙ הָרִ֔יעוּ כִּֽי־נָתַ֧ן יְהֹוָ֛ה לָכֶ֖ם אֶת־הָעִֽיר׃
καὶ τῇ περιόδῳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἐσάλπισαν οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ κεκράξατε παρέδωκεν γὰρ κύριος ὑμῖν τὴν πόλιν
Cumque septimo circuitu clangerent buccinis sacerdotes, dixit Josue ad omnem Israël : Vociferamini : tradidit enim vobis Dominus civitatem.
ወኮነ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ዖድዋ ፡ ሰብዐተ ፡ ለሀገር ፡ ጠቅዑ ፡ ካህናት ፡ በመጣቅዕቲሆሙ ፡ ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወውዑ ፡ እስመ ፡ አግብኣ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለነ ።
At the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout, for Yahweh has given you the city!
6:17
וְהָיְתָ֨ה הָעִ֥יר חֵ֛רֶם הִ֥יא וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֖הּ לַֽיהֹוָ֑ה רַק֩ רָחָ֨ב הַזּוֹנָ֜ה תִּֽחְיֶ֗ה הִ֚יא וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתָּ֣הּ בַּבַּ֔יִת כִּ֣י הֶחְבְּאַ֔תָה אֶת־הַמַּלְאָכִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁלָֽחְנוּ׃
καὶ ἔσται ἡ πόλις ἀνάθεμα αὐτὴ καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐστὶν ἐν αὐτῇ κυρίῳ σαβαωθ πλὴν Ρααβ τὴν πόρνην περιποιήσασθε αὐτὴν καὶ ὅσα ἐστὶν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτῆς
Sitque civitas haec anathema, et omnia quae in ea sunt, Domino : sola Rahab meretrix vivat, cum universis qui cum ea in domo sunt : abscondit enim nuntios quos direximus.
ወአሕረምናሃ ፡ ለዛቲ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ዘውስቴታ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ጸባኦት ፡ ትኩን ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ራኣብ ፡ ዘማ ፡ እንተ ፡ ታሐይው ፡ ኪያሃ ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ዘሀለወ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤታ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኀብአቶሙ ፡ ለሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ፡ እለ ፡ ፈነውነ ።
The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to Yahweh. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
6:18
וְרַק־אַתֶּם֙ שִׁמְר֣וּ מִן־הַחֵ֔רֶם פֶּֽן־תַּחֲרִ֖ימוּ וּלְקַחְתֶּ֣ם מִן־הַחֵ֑רֶם וְשַׂמְתֶּ֞ם אֶת־מַחֲנֵ֤ה יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לְחֵ֔רֶם וַעֲכַרְתֶּ֖ם אוֹתֽוֹ׃
ἀλλὰ ὑμεῖς φυλάξασθε σφόδρα ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀναθέματος μήποτε ἐνθυμηθέντες ὑμεῖς αὐτοὶ λάβητε ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀναθέματος καὶ ποιήσητε τὴν παρεμβολὴν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἀνάθεμα καὶ ἐκτρίψητε ἡμᾶς
Vos autem cavete ne de his, quae praecepta sunt, quippiam contingatis, et sitis praevaricationis rei, et omnia castra Israël sub peccato sint atque turbentur.
ወአንትሙ ፡ ባሕቱ ፡ ዑቁ ፡ ኢትንሥኡ ፡ እምውስተ ፡ ዘሕሩም ፡ ዘአሕረምነ ፡ ኢትፍትው ፡ ወኢትንሥኡ ፡ እምውስቴቱ ፡ ወእመ ፡ አኮሰ ፡ ትገብርዋ ፡ ርግምተ ፡ ለትዕይንቶሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወትቀጠቅጡነ ።
But as for you, only keep yourselves from what is devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so you would make the camp of Israel accursed and trouble it.
6:19
וְכֹ֣ל׀ כֶּ֣סֶף וְזָהָ֗ב וּכְלֵ֤י נְחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ וּבַרְזֶ֔ל קֹ֥דֶשׁ ה֖וּא לַיהֹוָ֑ה אוֹצַ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה יָבֽוֹא׃
καὶ πᾶν ἀργύριον ἢ χρυσίον ἢ χαλκὸς ἢ σίδηρος ἅγιον ἔσται τῷ κυρίῳ εἰς θησαυρὸν κυρίου εἰσενεχθήσεται
Quidquid autem auri et argenti fuerit, et vasorum aeneorum ac ferri, Domino consecretur, repositum in thesauris ejus.
ወኵሉ ፡ ወርቅ ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ብሩር ፡ ወብርት ፡ ወኀፂን ፡ ቅዱሰ ፡ ለይኩን ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወውስተ ፡ መዝገበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይባእ ።
But all the silver, gold, and vessels of bronze and iron are holy to Yahweh. They shall come into Yahweh’s treasury.”
6:20
וַיָּ֣רַע הָעָ֔ם וַֽיִּתְקְע֖וּ בַּשֹּׁפָר֑וֹת וַיְהִי֩ כִשְׁמֹ֨עַ הָעָ֜ם אֶת־ק֣וֹל הַשּׁוֹפָ֗ר וַיָּרִ֤יעוּ הָעָם֙ תְּרוּעָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֔ה וַתִּפֹּ֨ל הַחוֹמָ֜ה תַּחְתֶּ֗יהָ וַיַּ֨עַל הָעָ֤ם הָעִ֙ירָה֙ אִ֣ישׁ נֶגְדּ֔וֹ וַֽיִּלְכְּד֖וּ אֶת־הָעִֽיר׃
καὶ ἐσάλπισαν ταῖς σάλπιγξιν οἱ ἱερεῖς ὡς δὲ ἤκουσεν ὁ λαὸς τὴν φωνὴν τῶν σαλπίγγων ἠλάλαξεν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἅμα ἀλαλαγμῷ μεγάλῳ καὶ ἰσχυρῷ καὶ ἔπεσεν ἅπαν τὸ τεῖχος κύκλῳ καὶ ἀνέβη πᾶς ὁ λαὸς εἰς τὴν πόλιν
Igitur omni populo vociferante, et clangentibus tubis, postquam in aures multitudinis vox sonitusque increpuit, muri illico corruerunt : et ascendit unusquisque per locum qui contra se erat : ceperuntque civitatem,
ወወውዑ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወካህናትኒ ፡ ጠቅዑ ፡ በመጣቅዕት ፡ ወኅቡረ ፡ ወውዑ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ በዐቢይ ፡ ውውዓ ፡ ወጽኑዕ ፡ ወወድቀ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ አረፋቲሃ ፡ ዘዐውዳ ፡ ወቦኡ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወኵሎሙ ፡ ሮጹ ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ ፡ ወረከብዋ ፡ ለሀገር ።
So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight in front of him, and they took the city.
6:21
וַֽיַּחֲרִ֙ימוּ֙ אֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּעִ֔יר מֵאִישׁ֙ וְעַד־אִשָּׁ֔ה מִנַּ֖עַר וְעַד־זָקֵ֑ן וְעַ֨ד שׁ֥וֹר וָשֶׂ֛ה וַחֲמ֖וֹר לְפִי־חָֽרֶב׃
καὶ ἀνεθεμάτισεν αὐτὴν Ἰησοῦς καὶ ὅσα ἦν ἐν τῇ πόλει ἀπὸ ἀνδρὸς καὶ ἕως γυναικός ἀπὸ νεανίσκου καὶ ἕως πρεσβύτου καὶ ἕως μόσχου καὶ ὑποζυγίου ἐν στόματι ῥομφαίας
et interfecerunt omnia quae erant in ea, a viro usque ad mulierem, ab infante usque ad senem. Boves quoque et oves et asinos in ore gladii percusserunt.
ወአሕረማ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዘሀለወ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ሀገር ፡ እምተባዕቱ ፡ እስከ ፡ አንስቱ ፡ ወእምንዑሶሙ ፡ እስከ ፡ ልሂቆሙ ፡ ወእስከ ፡ ላህመ ፡ ወእስከ ፡ በግዐ ፡ ወእስከ ፡ አድገ ፡ ቀተሉ ፡ በኀፂን ።
They utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, both young and old, and ox, sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.
6:22
וְלִשְׁנַ֨יִם הָאֲנָשִׁ֜ים הַֽמְרַגְּלִ֤ים אֶת־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ אָמַ֣ר יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ בֹּ֖אוּ בֵּית־הָאִשָּׁ֣ה הַזּוֹנָ֑ה וְהוֹצִ֨יאוּ מִשָּׁ֤ם אֶת־הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָ֔הּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר נִשְׁבַּעְתֶּ֖ם לָֽהּ׃
καὶ τοῖς δυσὶν νεανίσκοις τοῖς κατασκοπεύσασιν εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς εἰσέλθατε εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν τῆς γυναικὸς καὶ ἐξαγάγετε αὐτὴν ἐκεῖθεν καὶ ὅσα ἐστὶν αὐτῇ
Duobus autem viris, qui exploratores missi fuerant, dixit Josue : Ingredimini domum mulieris meretricis, et producite eam, et omnia quae illius sunt, sicut illi juramento firmastis.
ወይቤሎሙ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ለእልክቱ ፡ ክልኤቱ ፡ ወራዙት ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ፡ እለ ፡ ርእዩ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ [ሑ]ሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤታ ፡ ለእንታክቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ ዘማ ፡ ወአውፅእዋ ፡ እምህየ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዘሀለወ ፡ ምስሌሃ ፡ በከመ ፡ መሐልክሙ ፡ ላቲ ።
Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house, and bring the woman and all that she has out from there, as you swore to her.”
6:23
וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ הַנְּעָרִ֣ים הַֽמְרַגְּלִ֗ים וַיֹּצִ֡יאוּ אֶת־רָ֠חָ֠ב וְאֶת־אָבִ֨יהָ וְאֶת־אִמָּ֤הּ וְאֶת־אַחֶ֙יהָ֙ וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָ֔הּ וְאֵ֥ת כׇּל־מִשְׁפְּחוֹתֶ֖יהָ הוֹצִ֑יאוּ וַיַּ֨נִּיח֔וּם מִח֖וּץ לְמַחֲנֵ֥ה יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
καὶ εἰσῆλθον οἱ δύο νεανίσκοι οἱ κατασκοπεύσαντες τὴν πόλιν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν τῆς γυναικὸς καὶ ἐξηγάγοσαν Ρααβ τὴν πόρνην καὶ τὸν πατέρα αὐτῆς καὶ τὴν μητέρα αὐτῆς καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτῆς καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἦν αὐτῇ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν συγγένειαν αὐτῆς καὶ κατέστησαν αὐτὴν ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς Ισραηλ
Ingressique juvenes eduxerunt Rahab, et parentes ejus, fratres quoque, et cunctam supellectilem ac cognationem illius, et extra castra Israël manere fecerunt.
ወቦኡ ፡ እልክቱ ፡ ክልኤቱ ፡ ወራዙት ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ፡ እለ ፡ ርእይዋ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤታ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ ወአውፅእዋ ፡ ለራኣብ ፡ ዘማ ፡ ወለአቡሃ ፡ ወለእማ ፡ ወለአኀዊሃ ፡ ወለኵሉ ፡ ዘመዳ ፡ ወኵሎ ፡ ዘባቲ ፡ ወአብጽሕዋ ፡ እስከ ፡ አፍአ ፡ እምነ ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ።
The young men who were spies went in, and brought out Rahab with her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. They also brought out all of her relatives, and they set them outside of the camp of Israel.
6:24
וְהָעִ֛יר שָׂרְפ֥וּ בָאֵ֖שׁ וְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֑הּ רַ֣ק׀ הַכֶּ֣סֶף וְהַזָּהָ֗ב וּכְלֵ֤י הַנְּחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ וְהַבַּרְזֶ֔ל נָתְנ֖וּ אוֹצַ֥ר בֵּית־יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ ἡ πόλις ἐνεπρήσθη ἐμπυρισμῷ σὺν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐν αὐτῇ πλὴν ἀργυρίου καὶ χρυσίου καὶ χαλκοῦ καὶ σιδήρου ἔδωκαν εἰς θησαυρὸν κυρίου εἰσενεχθῆναι
Urbem autem, et omnia quae erant in ea, succenderunt, absque auro et argento, et vasis aeneis, ac ferro, quae in aerarium Domini consecrarunt.
ወውዕየት ፡ ሀገር ፡ ምስለ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘውስቴታ ፡ በእሳት ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ ወርቅ ፡ ወብሩር ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ብርት ፡ ወኀፂን ፡ ዘአግብኡ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መዝገበ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘአብኡ ።
They burned the city with fire, and all that was in it. Only they put the silver, the gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron into the treasury of Yahweh’s house.
6:25
וְֽאֶת־רָחָ֣ב הַ֠זּוֹנָ֠ה וְאֶת־בֵּ֨ית אָבִ֤יהָ וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָהּ֙ הֶחֱיָ֣ה יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ וַתֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ בְּקֶ֣רֶב יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עַ֖ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּ֤י הֶחְבִּ֙יאָה֙ אֶת־הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַ֥ח יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ לְרַגֵּ֥ל אֶת־יְרִיחֽוֹ׃ {פ}
καὶ Ρααβ τὴν πόρνην καὶ πάντα τὸν οἶκον τὸν πατρικὸν αὐτῆς ἐζώγρησεν Ἰησοῦς καὶ κατῴκησεν ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας διότι ἔκρυψεν τοὺς κατασκοπεύσαντας οὓς ἀπέστειλεν Ἰησοῦς κατασκοπεῦσαι τὴν Ιεριχω
Rahab vero meretricem, et domum patris ejus, et omnia quae habebat, fecit Josue vivere, et habitaverunt in medio Israël, usque in praesentem diem : eo quod absconderit nuntios, quos miserat ut explorarent Jericho. In tempore illo, imprecatus est Josue, dicens :
ወራኣብ ፡ ዘማ ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ቤተ ፡ አቡሃ ፡ ዘአሕየወ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ወነበረት ፡ ውስተ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እስከ ፡ ዮም ፡ ወእስከ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ዕለት ፡ እስመ ፡ ኀብአቶሙ ፡ ለሰብአ ፡ ዐይን ፡ እለ ፡ ፈነወ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይርአይዋ ፡ ለሀገር ፡ ኢያሪኮ ።
But Rahab the prostitute, her father’s household, and all that she had, Joshua saved alive. She lives in the middle of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
6:26
וַיַּשְׁבַּ֣ע יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִ֖יא לֵאמֹ֑ר אָר֨וּר הָאִ֜ישׁ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָקוּם֙ וּבָנָ֞ה אֶת־הָעִ֤יר הַזֹּאת֙ אֶת־יְרִיח֔וֹ בִּבְכֹר֣וֹ יְיַסְּדֶ֔נָּה וּבִצְעִיר֖וֹ יַצִּ֥יב דְּלָתֶֽיהָ׃ {ס}
καὶ ὥρκισεν Ἰησοῦς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐναντίον κυρίου λέγων ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃς οἰκοδομήσει τὴν πόλιν ἐκείνην ἐν τῷ πρωτοτόκῳ αὐτοῦ θεμελιώσει αὐτὴν καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐλαχίστῳ αὐτοῦ ἐπιστήσει τὰς πύλας αὐτῆς καὶ οὕτως ἐποίησεν Οζαν ὁ ἐκ Βαιθηλ ἐν τῷ Αβιρων τῷ πρωτοτόκῳ ἐθεμελίωσεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐλαχίστῳ διασωθέντι ἐπέστησεν τὰς πύλας αὐτῆς
Maledictus vir coram Domino, qui suscitaverit et aedificaverit civitatem Jericho. In primogenito suo fundamenta illius jaciat, et in novissimo liberorum ponat portas ejus.
ወአምሐለ ፡ ኢየሱስ ፡ በይእቲ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ርጉመ ፡ ለይኩን ፡ ዘያነሥኣ ፡ ለይእቲ ፡ ሀገር ፤ በበኩሩ ፡ ለይሳርራ ፡ ወ[በ]ደኃሪ ፡ [ወል]ዱ ፡ ለያቅም ፡ ኆኅተ ፡ አንቀጻ ። ወከማሁ ፡ ገብረ ፡ [ኦዘን ፡] ዘእምነ ፡ ቤቴል ፤ በአቢሮን ፡ በኵሩ ፡ ሳረራ ፡ ወበደኃሪ ፡ [ወል]ዱ ፡ ዘድኅነ ፡ አቀመ ፡ ኆኅተ ፡ አንቀጻ ።
Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before Yahweh who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.”
6:27
וַיְהִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ וַיְהִ֥י שׇׁמְע֖וֹ בְּכׇל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
καὶ ἦν κύριος μετὰ Ἰησοῦ καὶ ἦν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ κατὰ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν
Fuit ergo Dominus cum Josue, et nomen ejus vulgatum est in omni terra.
ወሀለወ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ለኢየሱስ ፡ ወበጽሐ ፡ ስሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ምድር ።
So Yahweh was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.
