14:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ καιρῷ ἤκουσεν Ἡρώδης ὁ τετραάρχης τὴν ἀκοὴν Ἰησοῦ ,
In illo tempore audivit Herodes tetrarcha famam Jesu :
ወበውእቱ መዋዕል ሰምዐ ሄሮድስ ንጉሥ ነገሮ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ።
At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,
14:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ · οὗτός ἐστιν Ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτιστής · αὐτὸς ἠγέρθη ἀπὸ τῶν νεκρῶν , καὶ διὰ τοῦτο αἱ δυνάμεις ἐνεργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτῷ .
et ait pueris suis : Hic est Joannes Baptista : ipse surrexit a mortuis , et ideo virtutes operantur in eo .
ወይቤሎሙ ለአግብርቲሁ ዝ ውእቱ ዮሐንስ መጥምቅ ውእቱ ተንሥአ እሙታን ወበእንተ ዝንቱ ይትገበራ ኀይላት ቦቱ ።
and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”
14:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ γὰρ Ἡρώδης κρατήσας τὸν Ἰωάννην ἔδησεν καὶ ἐν φυλακῇ ἀπέθετο διὰ Ἡρωδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα [Φιλίππου ] τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ .
Herodes enim tenuit Joannem , et alligavit eum : et posuit in carcerem propter Herodiadem uxorem fratris sui .
እስመ ውእቱ ሄሮድስ አኀዞ ለዮሐንስ ወሞቅሖ በቤተ ሞቅሕ በእንተ ሄሮድያዳ ብእሲተ ፊልጶስ እኁሁ እስመ ኪያሃ አውሰበ
For Herod had arrested John, bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.
14:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὁ Ἰωάννης αὐτῷ · οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἔχειν αὐτήν .
Dicebat enim illi Joannes : Non licet tibi habere eam .
እስመ ይቤሎ ዮሐንስ ሎቱ ኢይከውነከ ታውስብ ብእሲተ እኁከ ፊልጶስ ።
For John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”
14:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ θέλων αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι ἐφοβήθη τὸν ὄχλον , ὅτι ὡς προφήτην αὐτὸν εἶχον .
Et volens illum occidere , timuit populum : quia sicut prophetam eum habebant .
ወእንዘ ይፈቅድ ይቅትሎ ይፈርሆሙ ለሕዝብ እስመ ከመ ነቢይ ይሬእይዎ ለዮሐንስ ።
When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
14:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ γενεσίοις δὲ γενομένοις τοῦ Ἡρώδου ὠρχήσατο ἡ θυγάτηρ τῆς Ἡρῳδιάδος ἐν τῷ μέσῳ καὶ ἤρεσεν τῷ Ἡρώδῃ ,
Die autem natalis Herodis saltavit filia Herodiadis in medio , et placuit Herodi :
ወከዊኖ ዕለተ ልደቱ ለሄሮድስ መጽአት ወለተ ሄሮድያዳ ወዘነፈት ሎቱ በማእከሎሙ ወአደመቶ ለሄሮድስ ።
But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.
14:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅθεν μεθ’ ὅρκου ὡμολόγησεν αὐτῇ δοῦναι ὃ ἐὰν αἰτήσηται .
unde cum juramento pollicitus est ei dare quodcumque postulasset ab eo .
ወበእንተዝ መሐለ ላቲ ከመ የሀባ ዘሰአለቶ ።
Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.
14:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἡ δὲ προβιβασθεῖσα ὑπὸ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτῆς · δός μοι , φησίν , ὧδε ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ .
At illa praemonita a matre sua : Da mihi , inquit , hic in disco caput Joannis Baptistae .
ወይእቲሰ አቅደመት አእምሮ በኀበ እማ ወትቤሎ ሀበኒ በዝየ በጻሕል ርእሶ ለዮሐንስ መጥምቅ ።
She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.”
14:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ λυπηθεὶς ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ τοὺς συνανακειμένους ἐκέλευσεν δοθῆναι ,
Et contristatus est rex : propter juramentum autem , et eos qui pariter recumbebant , jussit dari .
ወተከዘ ንጉሥ በእንተ መሐላሁ ወበእንተ እለ ይረፍቁ ምስሌሁ ወአዘዘ ከመ የሀብዋ ።
The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,
14:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ πέμψας ἀπεκεφάλισεν Ἰωάννην ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ ·
Misitque et decollavit Joannem in carcere .
ወፈነወ ሶቤሃ መስተራትዓተ ሐራ ወመተሩ ርእሶ ለዮሐንስ በቤተ ሞቅሕ ።
and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.
14:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἠνέχθη ἡ κεφαλὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πίνακι καὶ ἐδόθη τῷ κορασίῳ , καὶ ἤνεγκεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς .
Et allatum est caput ejus in disco , et datum est puellae , et attulit matri suae .
ወአምጽኡ ርእሶ በጻሕል ወወሀብዋ ለይእቲ ወለት ወይእቲሰ ወሰደት ወወሀበት ለእማ ።
His head was brought on a platter and given to the young lady; and she brought it to her mother.
14:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἦραν τὸ πτῶμα καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτόν , καὶ ἐλθόντες ἀπήγγειλαν τῷ Ἰησοῦ .
Et accedentes discipuli ejus , tulerunt corpus ejus , et sepelierunt illud : et venientes nuntiaverunt Jesu .
ወመጽኡ አርዳኢሁ ወነሥኡ በድኖ ወቀበርዎ ወመጺኦሙ ዜነውዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ።
His disciples came, took the body, and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus.
14:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν ἐκεῖθεν ἐν πλοίῳ εἰς ἔρημον τόπον κατ’ ἰδίαν · καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ ὄχλοι ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ πεζοὶ ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων .
Quod cum audisset Jesus , secessit inde in navicula , in locum desertum seorsum : et cum audissent turbae , secutae sunt eum pedestres de civitatibus .
ወሰሚዖ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ተግኅሠ እምህየ በሐመር ውስተ ገዳም እንተ ባሕቲቱ ወሰሚዖሙ አሕዛብ ተለውዎ በእግር እምአህጉር ።
Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.
14:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ἐξελθὼν εἶδεν πολὺν ὄχλον , καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν τοὺς ἀρρώστους αὐτῶν .
Et exiens vidit turbam multam , et misertus est eis , et curavit languidos eorum .
ወወፂኦ ርእየ ብዙኃነ አሕዛበ ወምሕሮሙ ወአሕየወ ድዉያኒሆሙ ።
Jesus went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them and healed their sick.
14:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης προσῆλθον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγοντες · ἔρημός ἐστιν ὁ τόπος καὶ ἡ ὥρα παρῆλθεν ἤδη · ἀπόλυσον οὖν τοὺς ὄχλους , ἵνα ἀπελθόντες εἰς τὰς κώμας ἀγοράσωσιν ἑαυτοῖς βρώματα .
Vespere autem facto , accesserunt ad eum discipuli ejus , dicentes : Desertus est locus , et hora jam praeteriit : dimitte turbas , ut euntes in castella , emant sibi escas .
ወምሴተ ከዊኖ ቀርቡ ኀቤሁ አርዳኢሁ ወይቤልዎ ገዳም ውእቱ ብሔር ወሰዓቱኒ ኀለፈ ፈንዎሙ ለአሕዛብ ከመ ይሑሩ ውስተ አህጉር ወይሣየጡ ለርእሶሙ መብልዐ ።
When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”
14:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · οὐ χρείαν ἔχουσιν ἀπελθεῖν · δότε αὐτοῖς ὑμεῖς φαγεῖν .
Jesus autem dixit eis : Non habent necesse ire : date illis vos manducare .
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አኮ መፍትው ይሑሩ ርኁባኒሆሙ አላ ሀብዎሙ አንትሙ ዘይበልዑ ።
But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
14:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ · οὐκ ἔχομεν ὧδε εἰ μὴ πέντε ἄρτους καὶ δύο ἰχθύας .
Responderunt ei : Non habemus hic nisi quinque panes et duos pisces .
ወይቤልዎ አልብነ ዝየ ዘእንበለ ኀምስ ኅብስት ወክልኤቲ ዓሣ ።
They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”
14:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν · φέρετέ μοι ὧδε αὐτούς .
Qui ait eis : Afferte mihi illos huc .
ወይቤሎሙ አምጽእዎን ሊተ ዝየ ።
He said, “Bring them here to me.”
14:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ κελεύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνακλιθῆναι ἐπὶ τοῦ χόρτου , λαβὼν τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς δύο ἰχθύας , ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εὐλόγησεν , καὶ κλάσας ἔδωκεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς τοὺς ἄρτους οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις .
Et cum jussisset turbam discumbere super foenum , acceptis quinque panibus et duobus piscibus , aspiciens in caelum benedixit , et fregit , et dedit discipulis panes , discipuli autem turbis .
ወአዘዞሙ ለሰብእ ይርፍቁ ዲበ ሣዕር ወነሥአ ውእተ ኀምሰ ኅብስተ ወክልኤ ዓሣ ወነጸረ ኀበ ሰማይ ወባረከ ወፈተተ ወወሀበ ለአርዳኢሁ ወአርዳኢሁኒ አቅረቡ ለሕዝብ ።
He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.
14:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν , καὶ ἦραν τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων δώδεκα κοφίνους πλήρεις .
Et manducaverunt omnes , et saturati sunt . Et tulerunt reliquias , duodecim cophinos fragmentorum plenos .
ወበልዑ ኵሎሙ ወጸግቡ ወአግኀሡ ዘተርፈ ፍተታተ ወመልአ ዐሠርተ ወክልኤተ መዛርዐ ምሉአ ።
They all ate and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
14:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν ἄνδρες ὡσεὶ πεντακισχίλιοι χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων .
Manducantium autem fuit numerus quinque millia virorum , exceptis mulieribus et parvulis .
ወእለሰ በልዑ እሙንቱ ሰብእ የአክሉ ኀምሳ ምእት ብእሲ ዘእንበለ አንስት ወደቅ ።
Those who ate were about five thousand men, in addition to women and children.
14:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ἠνάγκασεν τοὺς μαθητὰς ἐμβῆναι εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ προάγειν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πέραν , ἕως οὗ ἀπολύσῃ τοὺς ὄχλους .
Et statim compulit Jesus discipulos ascendere in naviculam , et praecedere eum trans fretum , donec dimitteret turbas .
ወአዘዞሙ ሶቤሃ ለአርዳኢሁ ከመ ይዕርጉ ውስተ ሐመር ወይቅድምዎ ወይሑሩ ኀበ ማዕዶተ ባሕር እስከ ሶበ ይፌንዎሙ ለአሕዛብ ።
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
14:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατ’ ἰδίαν προσεύξασθαι . ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης μόνος ἦν ἐκεῖ .
Et dimissa turba , ascendit in montem solus orare . Vespere autem facto solus erat ibi :
ወእምዝ ፈትሖሙ ለአሕዛብ ወዐርገ ውስተ ደብር እንተ ባሕቲቱ ይጸሊ ወምሴተ ከዊኖ ባሕቲቱ ሀሎ ህየ ።
After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
14:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ τὸ δὲ πλοῖον ἤδη μέσον τῆς θαλάσσης ἦν βασανιζόμενον ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων · ἦν γὰρ ἐναντίος ὁ ἄνεμος .
navicula autem in medio mari jactabatur fluctibus : erat enim contrarius ventus .
ወሐመርሰ ናሁ ሀሎ ማእከለ ባሕር ርኁቀ መጠነ ዕሥራ ወኀምስቱ ምዕራፍ ወይትሀወክ እሞገድ ወያመነድቦ ማዕበለ ባሕር እስመ እምቅድሜሁ ውእቱ ነፋስ ።
But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
14:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ τετάρτῃ δὲ φυλακῇ τῆς νυκτὸς ἦλθεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν .
Quarta enim vigilia noctis , venit ad eos ambulans super mare .
ወበራብዕት ሰዓተ ሌሊት መጽአ ኀቤሆሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ እንዘ የሐውር ዲበ ባሕር ።
In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.
14:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἰδόντες δὲ αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης περιπατοῦντα ἐταράχθησαν λέγοντες ὅτι φάντασμά ἐστιν , καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ φόβου ἔκραξαν .
Et videntes eum super mare ambulantem , turbati sunt , dicentes : Quia phantasma est . Et prae timore clamaverunt .
ወሶበ ርእይዎ አርዳኢሁ እንዘ ዲበ ባሕር የሐውር ደንገፁ ወፈርሁ እንዘ ይብሉ ምትሐት ውእቱ ወእምግርማሁ ዐውየዉ ።
When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.
14:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ εὐθὺς δὲ ἐλάλησεν αὐτοῖς λέγων · θαρσεῖτε , ἐγώ εἰμι · μὴ φοβεῖσθε .
Statimque Jesus locutus est eis , dicens : Habete fiduciam : ego sum , nolite timere .
ወበጊዜሃ ተናገሮሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ እንዘ ይብል ተአመኑ አነ ውእቱ ኢትፍርሁ ።
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”
14:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν · κύριε , εἰ σὺ εἶ , κέλευσόν με ἐλθεῖν πρὸς σὲ ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα ·
Respondens autem Petrus , dixit : Domine , si tu es , jube me ad te venire super aquas .
ወአውሥአ ጴጥሮስ ወይቤ እመሰ አንተሁ እግዚኦ አዝዘኒ እምጻእ ኀቤከ እንተ ዲበ ማይ ፤
Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”
14:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν · ἐλθέ . καὶ καταβὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ πλοίου Πέτρος περιεπάτησεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν .
At ipse ait : Veni . Et descendens Petrus de navicula , ambulabat super aquam ut veniret ad Jesum .
ወይቤሎ ነዓ ወወሪዶ ጴጥሮስ እምዲበ ሐመር ሖረ ዲበ ማይ ይብጻሕ ኀበ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ።
He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.
14:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ βλέπων δὲ τὸν ἄνεμον ἐφοβήθη , καὶ ἀρξάμενος καταποντίζεσθαι ἔκραξεν λέγων · κύριε , σῶσόν με .
Videns vero ventum validum , timuit : et cum coepisset mergi , clamavit dicens : Domine , salvum me fac .
ወሶበ ርእየ ነፋሰ ኀያለ ፈርሀ ወአኀዘ ይሰጠም ወዐውየወ ሶቤሃ እንዘ ይብል እግዚኦ አድኅነኒ ።
But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
14:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ εὐθέως δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἐπελάβετο αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ · ὀλιγόπιστε , εἰς τί ἐδίστασας ;
Et continuo Jesus extendens manum , apprehendit eum : et ait illi : Modicae fidei , quare dubitasti ?
ወሶቤሃ ሰፍሐ እዴሁ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወአኀዞ ወይቤሎ ውኁደ ሃይማኖት ለምንት ናፈቀ ።
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
14:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἀναβάντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος .
Et cum ascendissent in naviculam , cessavit ventus .
ወዐሪጎ ውስተ ሐመር ይእተ ጊዜ ኀደገ ነፋስ ።
When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
14:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες · ἀληθῶς θεοῦ υἱὸς εἶ .
Qui autem in navicula erant , venerunt , et adoraverunt eum , dicentes : Vere Filius Dei es .
ወእለ ውስተ ሐመር ሰገዱ ሎቱ እንዘ ይብሉ አማን ወልደ እግዚአብሔር አንተ ።
Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”
14:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ διαπεράσαντες ἦλθον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν εἰς Γεννησαρέτ .
Et cum transfretassent , venerunt in terram Genesar .
ወዓዲዎሙ ባሕረ በጽሑ ምድረ ጌንሴሬጥ ።
When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
14:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐπιγνόντες αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου ἀπέστειλαν εἰς ὅλην τὴν περίχωρον ἐκείνην , καὶ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας ,
Et cum cognovissent eum viri loci illius , miserunt in universam regionem illam , et obtulerunt ei omnes male habentes :
ወአእመርዎ ሰብአ ውእቱ ብሔር ወፈነዉ ኀበ ኵሉ አድያም ወአምጽኡ ሎቱ ኵሎ ሕሙማነ ።
When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region and brought to him all who were sick;
14:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἵνα μόνον ἅψωνται τοῦ κρασπέδου τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ · καὶ ὅσοι ἥψαντο διεσώθησαν .
et rogabant eum ut vel fimbriam vestimenti ejus tangerent . Et quicumque tetigerunt , salvi facti sunt .
ወአስተብቍዕዎ ከመ ይግሥሡ ጽንፈ ልብሱ እስመ ኵሎሙ እለ ገሠሥዎ የሐይዉ ።
and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
