16:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ Φαρισαῖοι καὶ Σαδδουκαῖοι πειράζοντες ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν σημεῖον ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐπιδεῖξαι αὐτοῖς .
Et accesserunt ad eum pharisaei et sadducaei tentantes : et rogaverunt eum ut signum de caelo ostenderet eis .
ወመጽኡ ፈሪሳውያን ወሰዱቃውያን እንዘ ያሜክርዎ ወሰአልዎ ትእምርተ እምሰማይ ያርእዮሙ ።
The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
16:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς , [ὀψίας γενομένης λέγετε · εὐδία , πυρράζει γὰρ ὁ οὐρανός ·
At ille respondens , ait illis : Facto vespere dicitis : Serenum erit , rubicundum est enim caelum .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ እምከመ መስየ ወኮነ ሕዋየ ትብሉ ጽሕወ ብሔር እስመ ያቅየሐይሕ ሰማይ ።
But he answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’
16:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ πρωΐ · σήμερον χειμών , πυρράζει γὰρ στυγνάζων ὁ οὐρανός . τὸ μὲν πρόσωπον τοῦ οὐρανοῦ γινώσκετε διακρίνειν , τὰ δὲ σημεῖα τῶν καιρῶν οὐ δύνασθε ;]
Et mane : Hodie tempestas , rutilat enim triste caelum .
ወእምከመ ጸብሐ ትብሉ ዮምሰኬ ይዘንም እስመ ያቅሐይሕ ሰማይ ድሙነ ኦ ! መደልዋን ለገጸ ሰማይኑ ተአምሩ ፈክሮቶ ወተአምረ መዋዕልሰ እፎ ኢተአምሩ ።
In the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you can’t discern the signs of the times!
16:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ γενεὰ πονηρὰ καὶ μοιχαλὶς σημεῖον ἐπιζητεῖ , καὶ σημεῖον οὐ δοθήσεται αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ τὸ σημεῖον Ἰωνᾶ . καὶ καταλιπὼν αὐτοὺς ἀπῆλθεν .
Faciem ergo caeli dijudicare nostis : signa autem temporum non potestis scire ? Generatio mala et adultera signum quaerit : et signum non dabitur ei , nisi signum Jonae prophetae . Et relictis illis , abiit .
ወይቤሎሙ ትውልድ ዕሉት ወዘማ ትእምርተ ተኀሥሥ ወትእምርትሰ ኢይትወሀባ ዘእንበለ ትእምርተ ዮናስ ነቢይ ወእምዝ ኀደጎሙ ወሖረ ።
An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” He left them and departed.
16:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ἐλθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ εἰς τὸ πέραν ἐπελάθοντο ἄρτους λαβεῖν .
Et cum venissent discipuli ejus trans fretum , obliti sunt panes accipere .
ወበጺሖሙ አርዳኢሁ ማዕዶተ ረስዑ ነሢአ ኅብስት ።
The disciples came to the other side and had forgotten to take bread.
16:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · ὁρᾶτε καὶ προσέχετε ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης τῶν Φαρισαίων καὶ Σαδδουκαίων .
Qui dixit illis : Intuemini , et cavete a fermento pharisaeorum et sadducaeorum .
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ዑቁ ወተዐቀቡ እምብኁኦሙ ለፈሪሳውያን ወሰዱቃውያን ።
Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
16:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ διελογίζοντο ἐν ἑαυτοῖς λέγοντες ὅτι ἄρτους οὐκ ἐλάβομεν .
At illi cogitabant intra se dicentes : Quia panes non accepimus .
ወኀለዩ በበይናቲሆሙ እንዘ ይብሉ እስመሁ እንጋ ኅብስተ ኢነሣእነ ይብለነ ።
They reasoned among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.”
16:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ γνοὺς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν · τί διαλογίζεσθε ἐν ἑαυτοῖς , ὀλιγόπιστοι , ὅτι ἄρτους οὐκ ἐλάβετε ;
Sciens autem Jesus , dixit : Quid cogitatis intra vos modicae fidei , quia panes non habetis ?
ወአእመሮሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ ምንተ ትኄልዩ በበይናቲክሙ ኦ ሕጹጻነ ሃይማኖት እስመሁ ኅብስት አልብክሙ ።
Jesus, perceiving it, said, “Why do you reason among yourselves, you of little faith, because you have brought no bread?
16:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὔπω νοεῖτε , οὐδὲ μνημονεύετε τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους τῶν πεντακισχιλίων καὶ πόσους κοφίνους ἐλάβετε ;
Nondum intelligitis , neque recordamini quinque panum in quinque millia hominum , et quot cophinos sumpsistis ?
ዓዲሁ ኢትሌብዉኑ ወኢትዜከሩ ዘአመ ኀምስ ኅብስት እለ ለኀምሳ ምእት ብእሲ ሚመጠነ መዛርዐ አግኀሥክሙ ወይቤልዎ ዐሠርተ ወክልኤተ ።
Don’t you yet perceive or remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up,
16:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐδὲ τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους τῶν τετρακισχιλίων καὶ πόσας σπυρίδας ἐλάβετε ;
neque septem panum in quatuor millia hominum , et quot sportas sumpsistis ?
ወአመ ሰብዑ ኅብስት እለ ለአርብዓ ምእት ብእሲ ሚመጠነ አስፈሬዳተ አግኀሥክሙ ወይቤልዎ ሰብዑ ።
or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
16:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ πῶς οὐ νοεῖτε ὅτι οὐ περὶ ἄρτων εἶπον ὑμῖν ; προσέχετε δὲ ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης τῶν Φαρισαίων καὶ Σαδδουκαίων .
Quare non intelligitis , quia non de pane dixi vobis : Cavete a fermento pharisaeorum et sadducaeorum ?
እፎ ዘኢትሌብዉ ከመ አኮ በእንተ ኅብስት ዘእቤለክሙ ዑቁ ወተዐቀቡ እምነ ብኁኦሙ ለፈሪሳውያን ወሰዱቃውያን ።
How is it that you don’t perceive that I didn’t speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
16:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ τότε συνῆκαν ὅτι οὐκ εἶπεν προσέχειν ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης τῶν Φαρισαίων καὶ Σαδδουκαίων , ἀλλὰ ἀπὸ τῆς διδαχῆς τῶν Φαρισαίων καὶ Σαδδουκαίων .
Tunc intellexerunt quia non dixerit cavendum a fermento panum , sed a doctrina pharisaeorum et sadducaeorum .
ወእምዝ ለበዉ አርዳኢሁ ከመ አኮ ዘይቤሎሙ በእንተ ብኅአተ ኅብስት ይትዐቀቡ አላ እምነ ትምህርቶሙ ለፈሪሳውያን ወሰዱቃውያን ።
Then they understood that he didn’t tell them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
16:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐλθὼν δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὰ μέρη Καισαρείας τῆς Φιλίππου ἠρώτα τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ λέγων · τίνα λέγουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι εἶναι τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ;
Venit autem Jesus in partes Caesareae Philippi : et interrogabat discipulos suos , dicens : Quem dicunt homines esse Filium hominis ?
ወበጺሖ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ብሔረ ቂሳርያ ዘፊልጶስ ተስእሎሙ ለአርዳኢሁ እንዘ ይብል መነ ይብልዎ ሰብእ ለወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ።
Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
16:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ εἶπαν · οἱ μὲν Ἰωάννην τὸν βαπτιστήν , ἄλλοι δὲ Ἡλείαν , ἕτεροι δὲ Ἰερεμίαν ἢ ἕνα τῶν προφητῶν .
At illi dixerunt : Alii Joannem Baptistam , alii autem Eliam , alii vero Jeremiam , aut unum ex prophetis .
ወይቤልዎ ቦ እለ ይብሉከ ዮሐንስሃ መጥምቀ ወካልኣን ይብሉከ ኤልያስሃ ወመንፈቆሙ ኤርምያስሃ ወእመአኮ አሐዱ እምነቢያት ቀደምት ።
They said, “Some say John the Baptizer, some, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
16:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγει αὐτοῖς · ὑμεῖς δὲ τίνα με λέγετε εἶναι ;
Dicit illis Jesus : Vos autem , quem me esse dicitis ?
ወይቤሎሙ አንትሙሰኬ መነ ትብሉኒ ።
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Σίμων Πέτρος εἶπεν · σὺ εἶ ὁ Χριστὸς ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ζῶντος .
Respondens Simon Petrus dixit : Tu es Christus , Filius Dei vivi .
ወአውሥአ ስምዖን ጴጥሮስ ወይቤ አንተ ውእቱ ክርስቶስ ወልደ እግዚአብሔር ሕያው ።
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
16:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ · μακάριος εἶ , Σίμων Βαριωνᾶ , ὅτι σὰρξ καὶ αἷμα οὐκ ἀπεκάλυψέν σοι ἀλλ’ ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς .
Respondens autem Jesus , dixit ei : Beatus es Simon Bar Jona : quia caro et sanguis non revelavit tibi , sed Pater meus , qui in caelis est .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎ ብፁዕ አንተ ስምዖን ወልደ ዮና እስመ ኢከሠተ ለከ ዘሥጋ ወደም አላ አቡየ ዘበሰማያት ።
Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
16:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ κἀγὼ δέ σοι λέγω ὅτι σὺ εἶ Πέτρος , καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ οἰκοδομήσω μου τὴν ἐκκλησίαν , καὶ πύλαι ᾅδου οὐ κατισχύσουσιν αὐτῆς .
Et ego dico tibi , quia tu es Petrus , et super hanc petram aedificabo Ecclesiam meam , et portae inferi non praevalebunt adversus eam .
ወአንሰ እብለከ ከመ አንተ ኰኵሕ ወዲበ ዛቲ ኰኵሕ አሐንጻ ለቤተ ክርስቲያንየ ወአናቅጸ ሲኦል ኢይኄይልዋ ።
I also tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
16:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ δώσω σοι τὰς κλεῖδας τῆς βασιλείας τῶν οὐρανῶν , καὶ ὃ ἐὰν δήσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται δεδεμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς , καὶ ὃ ἐὰν λύσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται λελυμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς .
Et tibi dabo claves regni caelorum . Et quodcumque ligaveris super terram , erit ligatum et in caelis : et quodcumque solveris super terram , erit solutum et in caelis .
ወእሁበከ መራኁተ መንግሥተ ሰማያት ወዘአሰርከ በምድር ይከውን እሱረ በሰማያት ወዘፈታሕከ በምድር ይከውን ፍቱሐ በሰማያት ።
I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven; and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.”
16:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ τότε διεστείλατο τοῖς μαθηταῖς ἵνα μηδενὶ εἴπωσιν ὅτι αὐτός ἐστιν ὁ Χριστός .
Tunc praecepit discipulis suis ut nemini dicerent quia ipse esset Jesus Christus .
ወእምዝ ገሠጾሙ ለአርዳኢሁ ከመ ኢይንግሩ ወኢለመኑሂ ከመ ውእቱ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ።
Then he commanded the disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.
16:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἀπὸ τότε ἤρξατο ὁ Ἰησοῦς δεικνύειν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ὅτι δεῖ αὐτὸν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἀπελθεῖν καὶ πολλὰ παθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ ἀρχιερέων καὶ γραμματέων καὶ ἀποκτανθῆναι καὶ τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ἐγερθῆναι .
Exinde coepit Jesus ostendere discipulis suis , quia oporteret eum ire Jerosolymam , et multa pati a senioribus , et scribis , et principibus sacerdotum , et occidi , et tertia die resurgere .
ወእምአሜሃ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አኀዘ ይንግሮሙ ለአርዳኢሁ ከመ ሀለዎ ይሑር ኢየሩሳሌም ወብዙኀ ያሐምምዎ ረበናት ወሊቃነ ካህናት ወጸሐፍት ወይትቀተል ወበሣልስት ዕለት ይትነሣእ ።
From that time, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.
16:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ προσλαβόμενος αὐτὸν ὁ Πέτρος ἤρξατο ἐπιτιμᾶν αὐτῷ λέγων · ἵλεώς σοι , κύριε · οὐ μὴ ἔσται σοι τοῦτο .
Et assumens eum Petrus , coepit increpare illum dicens : Absit a te , Domine : non erit tibi hoc .
ወተሰጥዎ ጴጥሮስ ወአኀዘ ይክልኦ እንዘ ይብል ሐሰ ለከ እግዚኦ ይኩን ላዕሌከ ዝንቱ ።
Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This will never be done to you.”
16:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ στραφεὶς εἶπεν τῷ Πέτρῳ · ὕπαγε ὀπίσω μου , σατανᾶ · σκάνδαλον εἶ ἐμοῦ , ὅτι οὐ φρονεῖς τὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἀλλὰ τὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων .
Qui conversus , dixit Petro : Vade post me Satana , scandalum es mihi : quia non sapis ea quae Dei sunt , sed ea quae hominum .
ወተመዪጦ ይቤሎ ለጴጥሮስ ሑር እምድኅሬየ ሰይጣን እስመ ኮንከ ማዕቅፍየ ሊተ እስመ ኢትኄሊ ዘእግዚአብሔር ዘእንበለ ዘሰብእ ።
But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.”
16:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τότε ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ · εἴ τις θέλει ὀπίσω μου ἐλθεῖν , ἀπαρνησάσθω ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἀράτω τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκολουθείτω μοι .
Tunc Jesus dixit discipulis suis : Si quis vult post me venire , abneget semetipsum , et tollat crucem suam , et sequatur me .
ወእምዝ ይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ለአርዳኢሁ ዘይፈቅድ ይትልወኒ ይጽልኣ ለነፍሱ ወያጥብዕ ወይንሣእ መስቀለ ሞቱ ወይትልወኒ ።
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
16:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὃς γὰρ ἐὰν θέλῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ σῶσαι ἀπολέσει αὐτήν · ὃς δ’ ἂν ἀπολέσῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ εὑρήσει αὐτήν .
Qui enim voluerit animam suam salvam facere , perdet eam : qui autem perdiderit animam suam propter me , inveniet eam .
ወዘይፈቅድ ያድኅና ለነፍሱ ለይግድፋ ወዘሰ ገደፋ ለነፍሱ በእንቲኣየ ይረክባ ።
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.
16:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ τί γὰρ ὠφεληθήσεται ἄνθρωπος , ἐὰν τὸν κόσμον ὅλον κερδήσῃ τὴν δὲ ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ζημιωθῇ ; ἢ τί δώσει ἄνθρωπος ἀντάλλαγμα τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ ;
Quid enim prodest homini , si mundum universum lucretur , animae vero suae detrimentum patiatur ? aut quam dabit homo commutationem pro anima sua ?
ወምንት ይበቍዖ ለሰብእ ለእመ ኵሎ ዓለመ ረብኀ ወነፍሶ ኀጕለ ወምንተ እምወሀበ ሰብእ ቤዛሃ ለነፍሱ ።
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
16:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ μέλλει γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἔρχεσθαι ἐν τῇ δόξῃ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ἀγγέλων αὐτοῦ , καὶ τότε ἀποδώσει ἑκάστῳ κατὰ τὴν πρᾶξιν αὐτοῦ .
Filius enim hominis venturus est in gloria Patris sui cum angelis suis : et tunc reddet unicuique secundum opera ejus .
እስመ ሀለዎ ለወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ይምጻእ በስብሐተ አቡሁ ምስለ መላእክቲሁ ወአሜሃ የዐስዮ ለኵሉ በከመ ምግባሩ ።
For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will give to everyone according to his deeds.
16:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι εἰσίν τινες τῶν ὧδε ἑστώτων οἵτινες οὐ μὴ γεύσωνται θανάτου ἕως ἂν ἴδωσιν τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐρχόμενον ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ .
Amen dico vobis , sunt quidam de hic stantibus , qui non gustabunt mortem , donec videant Filium hominis venientem in regno suo .
አማን እብለክሙ ቦ እምእለ ሀለዉ ይቀውሙ ዝየ እለ ኢይጥዕምዎ ለሞት እስከ አመ ይሬእይዎ ለወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው እንዘ ይመጽእ በስብሐተ አቡሁ ።
Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”
