1:1
מַשָּׂ֖א נִֽינְוֵ֑ה סֵ֧פֶר חֲז֛וֹן נַח֖וּם הָאֶלְקֹשִֽׁי׃
λῆμμα Νινευη βιβλίον ὁράσεως Ναουμ τοῦ Ελκεσαίου

ተረፈ፡ ነነዌ፡ መጽሐፈ፡ ራእዩ፡ ለናሆም፡ ልደ፡ ሔልቂዮስ።
A revelation about Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
1:2
אֵ֣ל קַנּ֤וֹא וְנֹקֵם֙ יְהֹוָ֔ה נֹקֵ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה וּבַ֣עַל חֵמָ֑ה נֹקֵ֤ם יְהֹוָה֙ לְצָרָ֔יו וְנוֹטֵ֥ר ה֖וּא לְאֹיְבָֽיו׃
θεὸς ζηλωτὴς καὶ ἐκδικῶν κύριος ἐκδικῶν κύριος μετὰ θυμοῦ ἐκδικῶν κύριος τοὺς ὑπεναντίους αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξαίρων αὐτὸς τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ
Deus aemulator, et ulciscens Dominus : ulciscens Dominus, et habens furorem : ulciscens Dominus in hostes suos, et irascens ipse inimicis suis.
እግዚአብሔር፡ ቀናኢ፡ ወመስተበቅል፡ ወይትቤቀሎሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይትቤቀሎሙ፡ እግዚአብር፡ በመዐቱ፡ ለፅሩ፡ ወያጠፍኦሙ።
Yahweh is a jealous God and avenges. Yahweh avenges and is full of wrath. Yahweh takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies.
1:3
יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶ֤רֶךְ אַפַּ֙יִם֙ (וגדול) [וּגְדׇל־]כֹּ֔חַ וְנַקֵּ֖ה לֹ֣א יְנַקֶּ֑ה יְהֹוָ֗ה בְּסוּפָ֤ה וּבִשְׂעָרָה֙ דַּרְכּ֔וֹ וְעָנָ֖ן אֲבַ֥ק רַגְלָֽיו׃
κύριος μακρόθυμος καὶ μεγάλη ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀθῳῶν οὐκ ἀθῳώσει κύριος ἐν συντελείᾳ καὶ ἐν συσσεισμῷ ἡ ὁδὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ νεφέλαι κονιορτὸς ποδῶν αὐτοῦ
Dominus patiens, et magnus fortitudine, et mundans non faciet innocentem. Dominus in tempestate et turbine viae ejus, et nebulae pulvis pedum ejus.
እግዚአብሔር፡ መስተዐግስ፡ ወዓቢይ፡ ኃይሉ፡ ወንጹሕኒ፡ አልቦ፡ ንጹሐ፡ በኀቤሁ። እግዚአብሔር፡ በፍጽም፡ ወበድልቅልቅ፡ ፍኖቱ፡ ወደመና፡ ጸበለ፡ እገሪሁ።
Yahweh is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. Yahweh has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
1:4
גּוֹעֵ֤ר בַּיָּם֙ וַֽיַּבְּשֵׁ֔הוּ וְכׇל־הַנְּהָר֖וֹת הֶחֱרִ֑יב אֻמְלַ֤ל בָּשָׁן֙ וְכַרְמֶ֔ל וּפֶ֥רַח לְבָנ֖וֹן אֻמְלָֽל׃
ἀπειλῶν θαλάσσῃ καὶ ξηραίνων αὐτὴν καὶ πάντας τοὺς ποταμοὺς ἐξερημῶν ὠλιγώθη ἡ Βασανῖτις καὶ ὁ Κάρμηλος καὶ τὰ ἐξανθοῦντα τοῦ Λιβάνου ἐξέλιπεν
Increpans mare, et exsiccans illud, et omnia flumina ad desertum deducens. Infirmatus est Basan et Carmelus, et flos Libani elanguit.
ወያጠፍኦ፡ ለባሕር፡ ዋያየብሳ፡ ወያነፅፎሙ፡ ለኲሎሙ፡ አፍላግ፡ ኀልቁ፡ ባሳን፡ ወቀርሜሎስ፡ ወጠፍአ፡ ፍሬ፡ ሊባኖስ።
He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel languish. The flower of Lebanon languishes.
1:5
הָרִים֙ רָעֲשׁ֣וּ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ וְהַגְּבָע֖וֹת הִתְמֹגָ֑גוּ וַתִּשָּׂ֤א הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ מִפָּנָ֔יו וְתֵבֵ֖ל וְכׇל־י֥וֹשְׁבֵי בָֽהּ׃
τὰ ὄρη ἐσείσθησαν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ βουνοὶ ἐσαλεύθησαν καὶ ἀνεστάλη ἡ γῆ ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ ἡ σύμπασα καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν αὐτῇ
Montes commoti sunt ab eo, et colles desolati sunt : et contremuit terra a facie ejus, et orbis, et omnes habitantes in eo.
ወአንቀልቀሉ፡ አድባር፡ እምኔሁ፡ ወእለቅለቁ፡ አውግር፡ ወደንገፀት፡ ኲላ፡ ምድር፡ እምቅድመ፡ ገጹ፡ ወኲሎሙ፡ እለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስቴታ።
The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it.
1:6
לִפְנֵ֤י זַעְמוֹ֙ מִ֣י יַעֲמ֔וֹד וּמִ֥י יָק֖וּם בַּחֲר֣וֹן אַפּ֑וֹ חֲמָתוֹ֙ נִתְּכָ֣ה כָאֵ֔שׁ וְהַצֻּרִ֖ים נִתְּצ֥וּ מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
ἀπὸ προσώπου ὀργῆς αὐτοῦ τίς ὑποστήσεται καὶ τίς ἀντιστήσεται ἐν ὀργῇ θυμοῦ αὐτοῦ ὁ θυμὸς αὐτοῦ τήκει ἀρχάς καὶ αἱ πέτραι διεθρύβησαν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ
Ante faciem indignationis ejus quis stabit ? et quis resistet in ira furoris ejus ? Indignatio ejus effusa est ut ignis, et petrae dissolutae sunt ab eo.
ወመኑ፡ ይትቃወማ፡ ለመቅሠተ፡ መአቱ፡ ወመዐቱሂ፡ ይመስዎሙ፡ ለአርእስቲሆሙ፡ ወይትቀጠቀጥ፡ ኮኲሕ፡ እምኔሁ።
Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the fierceness of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken apart by him.
1:7
ט֣וֹב יְהֹוָ֔ה לְמָע֖וֹז בְּי֣וֹם צָרָ֑ה וְיֹדֵ֖עַ חֹ֥סֵי בֽוֹ׃
χρηστὸς κύριος τοῖς ὑπομένουσιν αὐτὸν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεως καὶ γινώσκων τοὺς εὐλαβουμένους αὐτόν
Bonus Dominus, et confortans in die tribulationis, et sciens sperantes in se.
ኄር፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለእ፡ ይትዔገስዎ፡ በዕለተ፡ ምንዳቤሆሙ፡ ወየአምሮሙ፡ ለእ፡ ይፈርህዎ።
Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him.
1:8
וּבְשֶׁ֣טֶף עֹבֵ֔ר כָּלָ֖ה יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה מְקוֹמָ֑הּ וְאֹיְבָ֖יו יְרַדֶּף־חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃
καὶ ἐν κατακλυσμῷ πορείας συντέλειαν ποιήσεται τοὺς ἐπεγειρομένους καὶ τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ διώξεται σκότος
Et in diluvio praetereunte consummationem faciet loci ejus, et inimicos ejus persequentur tenebrae.
ወይሬስዮሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ትነስኡ፡ ከመ፡ ይኀልቁ፡ በፍኖተ፡ አይኀ፡ ወዴገኖሙ፡ ጽልመት፡ ለፀሩ።
But with an overflowing flood, he will make a full end of her place, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
1:9
מַה־תְּחַשְּׁבוּן֙ אֶל־יְהֹוָ֔ה כָּלָ֖ה ה֣וּא עֹשֶׂ֑ה לֹא־תָק֥וּם פַּעֲמַ֖יִם צָרָֽה׃
τί λογίζεσθε ἐπὶ τὸν κύριον συντέλειαν αὐτὸς ποιήσεται οὐκ ἐκδικήσει δὶς ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ἐν θλίψει
Quid cogitatis contra Dominum ? Consummationem ipse faciet : non consurget duplex tribulatio,
ምንተ፡ ትሔልየ፡ ላዕለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ናሁ፡ ለውእቱ፡ ይገብር፡ ማኀለቅተ፡ ወኢይትቤቀል፡ ካዕበ፡ ኀቡረ፡ በሕማም።
What do you plot against Yahweh? He will make a full end. Affliction won’t rise up the second time.
1:10
כִּ֚י עַד־סִירִ֣ים סְבֻכִ֔ים וּכְסׇבְאָ֖ם סְבוּאִ֑ים אֻ֨כְּל֔וּ כְּקַ֥שׁ יָבֵ֖שׁ מָלֵֽא׃
ὅτι ἕως θεμελίου αὐτῶν χερσωθήσεται καὶ ὡς σμῖλαξ περιπλεκομένη βρωθήσεται καὶ ὡς καλάμη ξηρασίας μεστή
quia sicut spinae se invicem complectuntur, sic convivium eorum pariter potantium ; consumentur quasi stipula ariditate plena.
አወስከ፡ መሠረቶሙ፡ ማሰኑ፡ ወትትበላዕ፡ ከመ፡ ብልዐ፡ ፃፄ፡ ወመልአት፡ ከመ፡ ባሕሩስ፡ ይቡስ።
For entangled like thorns, and drunken as with their drink, they are consumed utterly like dry stubble.
1:11
מִמֵּ֣ךְ יָצָ֔א חֹשֵׁ֥ב עַל־יְהֹוָ֖ה רָעָ֑ה יֹעֵ֖ץ בְּלִיָּֽעַל׃ {ס}
ἐκ σοῦ ἐξελεύσεται λογισμὸς κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου πονηρὰ λογιζόμενος ἐναντία
Ex te exibit cogitans contra Dominum malitiam, mente pertractans praevaricationem.
እስመ፡ እምኑከ፡ ይወፅእ፡ ሕሊና፡ እኩይ፡ ላዕለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወትመክር፡ ህሡመ።
One has gone out of you who devises evil against Yahweh, who counsels wickedness.
1:12
כֹּ֣ה׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה אִם־שְׁלֵמִים֙ וְכֵ֣ן רַבִּ֔ים וְכֵ֥ן נָג֖וֹזּוּ וְעָבָ֑ר וְעִ֨נִּתִ֔ךְ לֹ֥א אֲעַנֵּ֖ךְ עֽוֹד׃
τάδε λέγει κύριος κατάρχων ὑδάτων πολλῶν καὶ οὕτως διασταλήσονται καὶ ἡ ἀκοή σου οὐκ ἐνακουσθήσεται ἔτι
Haec dicit Dominus : Si perfecti fuerint, et ita plures, sic quoque attondentur, et pertransibit : afflixi te, et non affligam te ultra.
ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሁር፡ ዘያውኀዝ፡ ብዙሕ፡ ማየ፡ ወያፅፎ፡ ከማሁ፡ ወነገርከሂ፡ ኢይሰማፅ፡ እንከ።
Yahweh says: “Though they are in full strength and likewise many, even so they will be cut down and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
1:13
וְעַתָּ֕ה אֶשְׁבֹּ֥ר מֹטֵ֖הוּ מֵעָלָ֑יִךְ וּמוֹסְרֹתַ֖יִךְ אֲנַתֵּֽק׃
καὶ νῦν συντρίψω τὴν ῥάβδον αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ σοῦ καὶ τοὺς δεσμούς σου διαρρήξω
Et nunc conteram virgam ejus de dorso tuo, et vincula tua disrumpam.
ወይእዜኒ፡ እቀጠቅጣ፡ ለበርሩ፡ እምኔከ፡ ወእበትክ፡ ማኅሜከ።
Now I will break his yoke from off you, and will burst your bonds apart.”
1:14
וְצִוָּ֤ה עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ יְהֹוָ֔ה לֹא־יִזָּרַ֥ע מִשִּׁמְךָ֖ ע֑וֹד מִבֵּ֨ית אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ אַכְרִ֨ית פֶּ֧סֶל וּמַסֵּכָ֛ה אָשִׂ֥ים קִבְרֶ֖ךָ כִּ֥י קַלּֽוֹתָ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐντελεῖται ὑπὲρ σοῦ κύριος οὐ σπαρήσεται ἐκ τοῦ ὀνόματός σου ἔτι ἐξ οἴκου θεοῦ σου ἐξολεθρεύσω τὰ γλυπτὰ καὶ χωνευτά θήσομαι ταφήν σου ὅτι ταχεῖς
Et praecipiet super te Dominus ; non seminabitur ex nomine tuo amplius : de domo Dei tui interficiam sculptile, et conflatile ; ponam sepulchrum tuum, quia inhonoratus es.
ወይእዜዝ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ በእንቲአከ፡ ከመ፡ ኢይሰማዕ፡ ስምከ፡ ወዓዲ፡ እሤርዎ፡ ለግልፎከ፡ ወለስብኮከ፡ እምቤተ፡ አምላክከ፡ ወፍጡነ፡ እሬስያ፡ መቃብሪከ።
Yahweh has commanded concerning you: “No more descendants will bear your name. Out of the house of your gods, I will cut off the engraved image and the molten image. I will make your grave, for you are vile.”
1:15——
Ecce super montes pedes evangelizantis, et annuntiantis pacem. Celebra, Juda, festivitates tuas, et redde vota tua, quia non adjiciet ultra ut pertranseat in te Belial : universus interiit.
ናሁ፡ ውስተ፡ አድባር፡ እገሪሆሙ፡ ለሰብአ፡ ዜና፡ ወይዜንው፡ ሰላመ፡ ገበር፡ በዐለከ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ወፍዲ፡ ብፅዓቲከ፡ እስመ፡ ኢይደግሙ፡ እንከ፡ ዋኢይመጽኡ፡ ይትጋደሉከ፡ ኀልቀ፡ ወተሥዕረ።
Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace! Keep your feasts, Judah! Perform your vows, for the wicked one will no more pass through you. He is utterly cut off.
