3:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ δικαίων δὲ ψυχαὶ ἐν χειρὶ θεοῦ καὶ οὐ μὴ ἅψηται αὐτῶν βάσανος
Justorum autem animæ in manu Dei sunt , et non tanget illos tormentum mortis .
ነፍሶሙ ፡ ለጻድቃን ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኢለክፎሙ ፡ ሥቃይ ።
But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, And no torment will touch them.
3:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔδοξαν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἀφρόνων τεθνάναι καὶ ἐλογίσθη κάκωσις ἡ ἔξοδος αὐτῶν
Visi sunt oculis insipientium mori , et æstimata est afflictio exitus illorum ,
ወአዕይንተ ፡ ዐብዳንሰ ፡ መሰሉ ፡ ከመ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ዘሞቱ ፡ ወተኈለቈት ፡ ዐአቶሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ እከይ ፡ ቦሙ ።
In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died; And their departure was accounted to be their hurt,
3:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἡ ἀφ’ ἡμῶν πορεία σύντριμμα οἱ δέ εἰσιν ἐν εἰρήνῃ
et quod a nobis est iter exterminium ; illi autem sunt in pace :
ወኅልፈቶሙሰ ፡ ተመሰለ ፡ ቅጥቃጤ ፡ ወእሙንቱሰ ፡ በሰላም ፡ ሀለዉ ።
And their journeying away from us to be their ruin: But they are in peace.
3:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ γὰρ ἐν ὄψει ἀνθρώπων ἐὰν κολασθῶσιν ἡ ἐλπὶς αὐτῶν ἀθανασίας πλήρης
etsi coram hominibus tormenta passi sunt , spes illorum immortalitate plena est .
ወእመሂ ፡ ተኰነኑ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ተስፋሆሙሰ ፡ በኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሕይወት ፡ ፍጽምት ፡ እንተ ፡ አልባቲ ፡ ሞት ።
For even if in the sight of men they be punished, Their hope is full of immortality;
3:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὀλίγα παιδευθέντες μεγάλα εὐεργετηθήσονται ὅτι ὁ θεὸς ἐπείρασεν αὐτοὺς καὶ εὗρεν αὐτοὺς ἀξίους ἑαυτοῦ
In paucis vexati sunt , in multis bene disponentur , quoniam Deus tentavit eos , et invenit illos dignos se .
ወኅዳጠ ፡ ተኰኒኖሙ ፡ ዓቢይ ፡ ይዴለዉ ፡ እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምከሮሙ ፡ ወረከቦሙ ፡ ድልዋነ ፡ ሎቱ ።
And having borne a little chastening, they will receive great good; Because God made trial of them, and found them worthy of himself.
3:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς χρυσὸν ἐν χωνευτηρίῳ ἐδοκίμασεν αὐτοὺς καὶ ὡς ὁλοκάρπωμα θυσίας προσεδέξατο αὐτούς
Tamquam aurum in fornace probavit illos , et quasi holocausti hostiam accepit illos , et in tempore erit respectus illorum .
ከመ ፡ ወርቅ ፡ ዘይትፈተን ፡ በምንሀብ ፡ አመከሮሙ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ጽንሐሐ ፡ ዕጣን ፡ ዘይትዌከፍ ፡ ውኩፈ ፡ ተወክፎሙ ።
As gold in the furnace he proved them, And as a whole burnt offering he accepted them.
3:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐν καιρῷ ἐπισκοπῆς αὐτῶν ἀναλάμψουσιν καὶ ὡς σπινθῆρες ἐν καλάμῃ διαδραμοῦνται
Fulgebunt justi et tamquam scintillæ in arundineto discurrent .
ወበመዋዕለ ፡ ሕዋፄሆሙ ፡ ይበርሁ ፡ ከመ ፡ ፀሐይ ፡ ወይረውዑ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሩፀተ ፡ ቀለምጺጽ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ብርዕ ።
And in the time of their visitation they will shine forth, And as sparks among stubble they will run to and fro.
3:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ κρινοῦσιν ἔθνη καὶ κρατήσουσιν λαῶν καὶ βασιλεύσει αὐτῶν κύριος εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας
Judicabunt nationes , et dominabuntur populis , et regnabit Dominus illorum in perpetuum .
ወይኴንኑ ፡ አሕዛበ ፡ ወይእኅቡ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ ወይነግሥ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለዓለም ።
They will judge nations, and have dominion over peoples; And the Lord will reign over them for evermore.
3:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ πεποιθότες ἐπ’ αὐτῷ συνήσουσιν ἀλήθειαν καὶ οἱ πιστοὶ ἐν ἀγάπῃ προσμενοῦσιν αὐτῷ ὅτι χάρις καὶ ἔλεος τοῖς ἐκλεκτοῖς αὐτοῦ
Qui confidunt in illo intelligent veritatem , et fideles in dilectione acquiescent illi , quoniam donum et pax est electis ejus .
እለ ፡ ይትዌከሉ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ የአምሩ ፡ ርትዐ ፡ ወመሃይምናኒሁ ፡ ይሄልዉ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ በፍቅር ፡ እስመ ፡ ጸጋ ፡ ወክብር ፡ ለኅሩያኒሁ ፡ ወሕዋፄ ፡ ክሡት ፡ ለጻድቃኒሁ ።
They that trust on him will understand truth, And the faithful will abide with him in love; Because grace and mercy are to his chosen.
3:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ ἀσεβεῖς καθὰ ἐλογίσαντο ἕξουσιν ἐπιτιμίαν οἱ ἀμελήσαντες τοῦ δικαίου καὶ τοῦ κυρίου ἀποστάντες
Impii autem secundum quæ cogitaverunt correptionem habebunt : qui neglexerunt justum , et a Domino recesserunt .
ወረሲዓንሰ ፡ በከመ ፡ ሐለዩ ፡ ይረክቡ ፡ ኵነኔ ፡ ወእለ ፡ አስተትዋ ፡ ለጽድቅ ፡ እምእግዚአብሔር ፡ ርኅቁ ።
But the ungodly will be requited even as they reasoned, They which lightly regarded the righteous man, and revolted from the Lord;
3:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ σοφίαν γὰρ καὶ παιδείαν ὁ ἐξουθενῶν ταλαίπωρος καὶ κενὴ ἡ ἐλπὶς αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ κόποι ἀνόνητοι καὶ ἄχρηστα τὰ ἔργα αὐτῶν
Sapientiam enim et disciplinam qui abjicit infelix est : et vacua est spes illorum , et labores sine fructu , et inutilia opera eorum .
ጥበበ ፡ ወተግሣፀ ፡ ዘይሜንኑ ፡ ሕርቱማን ፡ ወከንቱ ፡ ተስፋሆሙ ፡ ወሕማሞሙ ፡ ወፃማሆሙ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ በቊዔት ፡ ወከንቱ ፡ ምግባራቲሆሙ ።
(For he that sets at nothing wisdom and discipline is miserable;) And void is their hope and their toils unprofitable, And useless are their works:
3:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ αἱ γυναῖκες αὐτῶν ἄφρονες καὶ πονηρὰ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν ἐπικατάρατος ἡ γένεσις αὐτῶν
Mulieres eorum insensatæ sunt , et nequissimi filii eorum .
ወአንስቲያሆሙ ፡ ዓብዳት ፡ እማንቱ ፡ ወጸዋጋን ፡ ውሉዶሙ ፡ ወርጉም ፡ ትውልዶሙ ።
Their wives are foolish, and wicked are their children;
3:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι μακαρία στεῖρα ἡ ἀμίαντος ἥτις οὐκ ἔγνω κοίτην ἐν παραπτώματι ἕξει καρπὸν ἐν ἐπισκοπῇ ψυχῶν
Maledicta creatura eorum , quoniam felix est sterilis ; et incoinquinata , quæ nescivit thorum in delicto , habebit fructum in respectione animarum sanctarum ;
እስመ ፡ ብእሲት ፡ መካን ፡ እንተ ፡ አልባቲ ፡ ነውር ፡ ብፅዕት ፡ ወንጽሕት ፡ ይእቲ ፡ እንተ ፡ ኢተአምር ፡ ምስካበ ፡ ዘአበሳ ፡ እንታክቲ ፡ ትረክብ ፡ ፍሬ ፡ በሕዋፄ ፡ ነፍሳት ።
Accursed is their begetting. Because happy is the barren that is undefiled, She who has not conceived in transgression; She will have fruit when God visiteth souls.
3:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εὐνοῦχος ὁ μὴ ἐργασάμενος ἐν χειρὶ ἀνόμημα μηδὲ ἐνθυμηθεὶς κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου πονηρά δοθήσεται γὰρ αὐτῷ τῆς πίστεως χάρις ἐκλεκτὴ καὶ κλῆρος ἐν ναῷ κυρίου θυμηρέστερος
et spado qui non operatus est per manus suas iniquitatem , nec cogitavit adversus Deum nequissima : dabitur enim illi fidei donum electum , et sors in templo Dei acceptissima .
ወሕፀው ፡ ዘኢገብረ ፡ በእዴሁ ፡ አበሳ ፡ ወዘኢሐለየ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እኩየ ፡ እስመ ፡ ይትወሀቦ ፡ ጸጋ ፡ ሃይማኖት ፡ ኅሪት ፡ ወመክፈልት ፡ በቤተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘይትፈተው ።
And happy is the eunuch which has wrought no lawless deed with his hands, Nor imagined wicked things against the Lord; For there will be given him for his faithfulness a peculiar favor, And a lot in the sanctuary of the Lord more delightsome than wife or children.
3:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀγαθῶν γὰρ πόνων καρπὸς εὐκλεής καὶ ἀδιάπτωτος ἡ ῥίζα τῆς φρονήσεως
Bonorum enim laborum gloriosus est fructus , et quæ non concidat radix sapientiæ .
እስመ ፡ ለኄር ፡ ፍሬ ፡ ፃማሁ ፡ ክብር ፡ ወሥን ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ድቀት ፡ ለሥርወ ፡ አእምሮቱ ።
For good labors have fruit of great renown; And the root of understanding can’t fail.
3:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ τέκνα δὲ μοιχῶν ἀτέλεστα ἔσται καὶ ἐκ παρανόμου κοίτης σπέρμα ἀφανισθήσεται
Filii autem adulterorum in inconsummatione erunt , et ab iniquo thoro semen exterminabitur .
ወውሉደ ፡ ዘማውያንሰ ፡ ንቱጋነ ፡ ይከውኑ ፡ ወዘርእ ፡ ዘይወጽእ ፡ እምስካበ ፡ ተዓዳዌ ፡ ሕግ ፡ ይማስን ።
But children of adulterers will not come to maturity, And the seed of an unlawful bed will vanish away.
3:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐάν τε γὰρ μακρόβιοι γένωνται εἰς οὐθὲν λογισθήσονται καὶ ἄτιμον ἐπ’ ἐσχάτων τὸ γῆρας αὐτῶν
Et si quidem longæ vitæ erunt , in nihilum computabuntur , et sine honore erit novissima senectus illorum :
ወእመሂ ፡ ኖኀ ፡ መንበርቶሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ምንተኒ ፡ ይትኌለቊ ፡ ወርስዖሙ ፡ በደኀሪቶሙ ፡ ይከውን ፡ ኅሡረ ።
For if they live long, they will be held in no account, And at the last their old age will be without honor.
3:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐάν τε ὀξέως τελευτήσωσιν οὐχ ἕξουσιν ἐλπίδα οὐδὲ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ διαγνώσεως παραμύθιον
et si celerius defuncti fuerint , non habebunt spem , nec in die agnitionis allocutionem .
ወእመኒ ፡ ፍቱነ ፡ ሞቱ ፡ አልቦሙ ፡ ተስፋ ፡ ወኢኑዛዜ ፡ አመ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ሐተታ ።
And if they die quickly, they will have no hope, Nor in the day of decision will they have consolation.
3:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ γενεᾶς γὰρ ἀδίκου χαλεπὰ τὰ τέλη
Nationis enim iniquæ diræ sunt consummationes .
እስመ ፡ ለትውልድ ፡ አማፂት ፡ እኩይ ፡ ደኃሪታ ።
For the end of an unrighteous generation is always grievous.
