5:1

Χριστιανοὶ γὰρ οὔτε γῇ οὔτε φωνῇ οὔτε ἔθεσι διακεκριμένοι τῶν λοιπῶν εἰσιν ἀνθρώπων

For Christians are distinguished from the rest of mankind neither by country nor by language nor by customs.

因為基督徒與其餘的人不同，並不在乎地域、言語或風俗。

5:2

οὔτε γάρ που πόλεις ἰδίας κατοικοῦσιν οὔτε διαλέκτῳ τινὶ παρηλλαγμένῃ χρῶνται οὔτε βίον παράσημον ἀσκοῦσιν

For nowhere do they inhabit cities of their own, nor do they use any distinctive dialect, nor do they practice an outlandish way of life.

他們既不住在自己專有的城邑，也不使用甚麼奇異的方言，也不奉行甚麼怪僻的生活方式。

5:3

οὐ μὴν ἐπινοίᾳ τινὶ καὶ φροντίδι πολυπραγμόνων ἀνθρώπων μάθημα τοῦτ' αὐτοῖς ἐστιν εὑρημένον οὐδὲ δόγματος ἀνθρωπίνου προεστᾶσιν ὥσπερ ἔνιοι

Nor indeed is this teaching of theirs discovered by the invention and speculation of meddlesome men, nor do they champion a human doctrine, as some do.

他們這道理也不是出於好事之人的揣摩與臆想而發明的，他們也不像某些人那樣高舉甚麼人的學說。

5:4

κατοικοῦντες δὲ πόλεις Ἑλληνίδας τε καὶ βαρβάρους ὡς ἕκαστος ἐκληρώθη καὶ τοῖς ἐγχωρίοις ἔθεσιν ἀκολουθοῦντες ἔν τε ἐσθῆτι καὶ διαίτῃ καὶ τῷ λοιπῷ βίῳ θαυμαστὴν καὶ ὁμολογουμένως παράδοξον ἐνδείκνυνται τὴν κατάστασιν τῆς ἑαυτῶν πολιτείας

But while inhabiting both Greek and barbarian cities, as each one's lot has fallen, and following the local customs in dress and food and the rest of life, they display the marvelous and confessedly paradoxical character of their own commonwealth.

他們既隨著各人所分得的住處，住在希臘人和外邦人的城邑中，在衣著、飲食和其餘生活上順從當地的習俗，卻又顯出他們自己那國度何等奇妙、確實令人詫異的特質。

5:5

πατρίδας οἰκοῦσιν ἰδίας ἀλλ' ὡς πάροικοι μετέχουσι πάντων ὡς πολῖται καὶ πάνθ' ὑπομένουσιν ὡς ξένοι πᾶσα ξένη πατρίς ἐστιν αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶσα πατρὶς ξένη

They dwell in their own homelands, but as sojourners; they share in all things as citizens, and endure all things as foreigners. Every foreign land is their homeland, and every homeland is foreign.

他們住在自己的本鄉，卻像寄居的；以公民的身分分享一切，卻像外人一樣忍受一切。每一處異鄉都是他們的家鄉，每一處家鄉又都如同異鄉。

5:6

γαμοῦσιν ὡς πάντες τεκνογονοῦσιν ἀλλ' οὐ ῥίπτουσι τὰ γεννώμενα

They marry like all others, they bear children, but they do not cast away their offspring.

他們像眾人一樣娶妻生子，卻不丟棄所生的嬰孩。

5:7

τράπεζαν κοινὴν παρατίθενται ἀλλ' οὐ κοίτην

They set a common table, but not a common bed.

他們同擺一桌共食，卻不同床苟合。

5:8

ἐν σαρκὶ τυγχάνουσιν ἀλλ' οὐ κατὰ σάρκα ζῶσιν

They find themselves in the flesh, but they do not live according to the flesh.

他們雖然活在肉身之中，卻不順著肉體而活。

5:9

ἐπὶ γῆς διατρίβουσιν ἀλλ' ἐν οὐρανῷ πολιτεύονται

They pass their days on earth, but they have their citizenship in heaven.

他們雖在地上度日，卻是天上的國民。
