📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

And the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, and all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard, and went out to meet them.
And David inquired through God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines, and will you give them into my hands? And the Lord said to him, Go up, and I will give them into your hands.
And he went up to Baalpharasin, and David struck them there. And David said, God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breach of water. Therefore he called the name of that place Breach of Pharasin.
And when you hear the sound of the shaking of the tops of the pear trees, then you shall go out to the battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.
