Anno autem quintodecimo imperii Tiberii Caesaris, procurante Pontio Pilato Judaeam, tetrarcha autem Galilaeae Herode, Philippo autem fratre ejus tetrarcha Ituraeae, et Trachonitidis regionis, et Lysania Abilinae tetrarcha,
凱撒提庇留在位第十五年，本丟‧彼拉多作猶太巡撫，希律作加利利分封的王，他兄弟腓力作以土利亞和特拉可尼地方分封的王，呂撒聶作亞比利尼分封的王，
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
3:2
sub principibus sacerdotum Anna et Caipha : factum est verbum Domini super Joannem, Zachariae filium, in deserto.
亞那和該亞法作大祭司。那時，撒迦利亞的兒子約翰在曠野裏，上帝的話臨到他。
during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.
3:3
Et venit in omnem regionem Jordanis, praedicans baptismum poenitentiae in remissionem peccatorum,
他就來到約旦河一帶地方，宣講悔改的洗禮，使罪得赦。
He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for remission of sins.
3:4
sicut scriptum est in libro sermonum Isaiae prophetae : Vox clamantis in deserto : Parate viam Domini ; rectas facite semitas ejus :
正如先知以賽亞書上所記的話，說： 在曠野有人聲喊着說： 預備主的道， 修直他的路！
As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight.
3:5
omnis vallis implebitur, et omnis mons, et collis humiliabitur : et erunt prava in directa, et aspera in vias planas :
一切山窪都要填滿； 大小山岡都要削平！ 彎彎曲曲的地方要改為正直； 高高低低的道路要改為平坦！
Every valley will be filled. Every mountain and hill will be brought low. The crooked will become straight, and the rough ways smooth.
3:6
et videbit omnis caro salutare Dei.
凡有血氣的，都要見上帝的救恩！
All flesh will see God’s salvation.’”
3:7
Dicebat ergo ad turbas quae exibant ut baptizarentur ab ipso : Genimina viperarum, quis ostendit vobis fugere a ventura ira ?
約翰對那出來要受他洗的眾人說：「毒蛇的種類！誰指示你們逃避將來的忿怒呢？
He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be baptized by him, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
3:8
Facite ergo fructus dignos poenitentiae, et ne coeperitis dicere : Patrem habemus Abraham. Dico enim vobis quia potens est Deus de lapidibus istis suscitare filios Abrahae.
你們要結出果子來，與悔改的心相稱。不要自己心裏說：『有亞伯拉罕為我們的祖宗。』我告訴你們，上帝能從這些石頭中，給亞伯拉罕興起子孫來。
Therefore produce fruits worthy of repentance, and don’t begin to say among yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father;’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!
3:9
Jam enim securis ad radicem arborum posita est. Omnis ergo arbor non faciens fructum bonum, excidetur, et in ignem mittetur.
現在斧子已經放在樹根上，凡不結好果子的樹就砍下來，丟在火裏。」
Even now the ax also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”
3:10
Et interrogabant eum turbae, dicentes : Quid ergo faciemus ?
眾人問他說：「這樣，我們當做甚麼呢？」
The multitudes asked him, “What then must we do?”
3:11
Respondens autem dicebat illis : Qui habet duas tunicas, det non habenti : et qui habet escas, similiter faciat.
約翰回答說：「有兩件衣裳的，就分給那沒有的；有食物的，也當這樣行。」
He answered them, “He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.”
3:12
Venerunt autem et publicani ut baptizarentur, et dixerunt ad illum : Magister, quid faciemus ?
又有稅吏來要受洗，問他說：「夫子，我們當做甚麼呢？」
Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what must we do?”
3:13
At ille dixit ad eos : Nihil amplius, quam quod constitutum est vobis, faciatis.
約翰說：「除了例定的數目，不要多取。」
He said to them, “Collect no more than that which is appointed to you.”
3:14
Interrogabant autem eum et milites, dicentes : Quid faciemus et nos ? Et ait illis : Neminem concutiatis, neque calumniam faciatis : et contenti estote stipendiis vestris.
又有兵丁問他說：「我們當做甚麼呢？」約翰說：「不要以強暴待人，也不要訛詐人，自己有錢糧就當知足。」
Soldiers also asked him, saying, “What about us? What must we do?” He said to them, “Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.”
3:15
Existimante autem populo, et cogitantibus omnibus in cordibus suis de Joanne, ne forte ipse esset Christus,
百姓指望基督來的時候，人都心裏猜疑，或者約翰是基督。
As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he was the Christ,
3:16
respondit Joannes, dicens omnibus : Ego quidem aqua baptizo vos : veniet autem fortior me, cujus non sum dignus solvere corrigiam calceamentorum ejus : ipse vos baptizabit in Spiritu Sancto et igni :
約翰說：「我是用水給你們施洗，但有一位能力比我更大的要來，我就是給他解鞋帶也不配。他要用聖靈與火給你們施洗。
John answered them all, “I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire.
3:17
cujus ventilabrum in manu ejus, et purgabit aream suam, et congregabit triticum in horreum suum, paleas autem comburet igni inextinguibili.
他手裏拿着簸箕，要揚淨他的場，把麥子收在倉裏，把糠用不滅的火燒盡了。」
His winnowing fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
3:18
Multa quidem et alia exhortans evangelizabat populo.
約翰又用許多別的話勸百姓，向他們傳福音。
Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,
3:19
Herodes autem tetrarcha cum corriperetur ab illo de Herodiade uxore fratris sui, et de omnibus malis quae fecit Herodes,
只是分封的王希律，因他兄弟之妻希羅底的緣故，並因他所行的一切惡事，受了約翰的責備；
but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,
3:20
adjecit et hoc super omnia, et inclusit Joannem in carcere.
又另外添了一件，就是把約翰收在監裏。
added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.
3:21
Factum est autem cum baptizaretur omnis populus, et Jesu baptizato, et orante, apertum est caelum :
眾百姓都受了洗，耶穌也受了洗。正禱告的時候，天就開了，
Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized and was praying. The sky was opened,
3:22
et descendit Spiritus Sanctus corporali specie sicut columba in ipsum : et vox de caelo facta est : Tu es filius meus dilectus, in te complacui mihi.
聖靈降臨在他身上，形狀彷彿鴿子；又有聲音從天上來，說：「你是我的愛子，我喜悅你。」
and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form like a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.”
3:23
Et ipse Jesus erat incipiens quasi annorum triginta, ut putabatur, filius Joseph, qui fuit Heli, qui fuit Mathat,
耶穌開頭傳道，年紀約有三十歲。依人看來，他是約瑟的兒子；約瑟是希里的兒子；
Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years old, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli,
3:24
qui fuit Levi, qui fuit Melchi, qui fuit Janne, qui fuit Joseph,
希里是瑪塔的兒子；瑪塔是利未的兒子；利未是麥基的兒子；麥基是雅拿的兒子；雅拿是約瑟的兒子；
