4:1
De condemnatione Pelagii et Coelestii, et Pelagii prae - sertim, tum a Romanis pontificibus Innocentia et Zosimo, tum a Patribus Diospolitanis et Theodoto Antiochiae episcopo. 1. a Quae omnia suprascripta capitula, ut jam superius dictum est, continet illa beatae memoriae episcopi Zosimi epistola, quae b tractoria dicitur, qua Coelestius Pelagiusque damnati sunt; quae et Constantinopolim, et a per totum orbem missa sub- scriptionibus sanctorum Patrum b est roborata;
論伯拉糾與高勒斯丟之被定罪,尤其是伯拉糾,既被羅馬教皇英諾森與佐西母,又被丟斯波利的眾教父與安提阿主教提阿多徒所定罪。第一節。所有上述各條目,如前已述,都包含在聖名佐西母主教那封稱為「通諭」(Tractoria)的信中,高勒斯丟與伯拉糾就是藉這信被定罪的;那信被送往君士坦丁堡並遍傳全世界,並由眾聖教父的簽署所確認;
Concerning the condemnation of Pelagius and Coelestius, and especially of Pelagius, both by the Roman pontiffs Innocent and Zosimus, and by the Fathers of Diospolis and Theodotus, bishop of Antioch. 1. All which above-written chapters, as has already been said above, that letter of Zosimus, bishop of blessed memory, which is called the 'Tractoria,' contains, by which Coelestius and Pelagius were condemned; which was sent both to Constantinople and throughout the whole world, and was confirmed by the subscriptions of the holy Fathers;
4:2
2. Praedicti sane Coelestius et Pelagius, e non tune primo a sanctae memoriae Zosimo videntur esse dam- nati, sed ab ejus decessore sanctae recordationis Innocentio, a quo et d Julianus fuerat ordinatus, quique post illorum damnationem, e usque ad prae- dicti Innocentii [ Baluz, add.
to which Julianus and the rest of his accomplices, refusing to subscribe, and unwilling to make themselves agreeable to those same Fathers, were deposed and degraded not only by imperial laws but also by sacerdotal statutes, and were driven out of all Italy: of whom very many, coming to their senses and corrected from the aforesaid error, returned as suppliants to the apostolic see, and being received, recovered their Churches. 2. The aforesaid Coelestius and Pelagius, indeed, are seen to have been condemned not then for the first time by Zosimus of holy memory, but by his predecessor of holy remembrance, Innocent, by whom also Julianus had been ordained, and who, after their condemnation, up to the death of the aforesaid Innocent

episcopi] excessum e vita, in ejus communione permanens, et perseve- rans in sincera sententia, et communicans damna- tori praedictorum, ipse quoque sine dubio Pelagium Coelestiumque damnavit, a et quid nunc desiderat, aut de quo queritur, b ignoramus. 3.
the bishop departed from life—remaining in his communion, and persevering in the same sincere opinion, and communicating with the condemner of the aforesaid, he himself too without doubt condemned Pelagius and Coelestius; and what he now desires, or of what he complains, we do not know. 3. Now, as to how they came to be condemned by Innocent of holy remembrance, such was the cause. After the devastation of the city of Rome, Pelagius was dwelling in Palestine. There were found by certain zealous bishops his books, in which many and various things were seen to be written against the Catholic faith. These were sent with letters into Africa to the Fathers and bishops, where, by three councils gathered together, the aforesaid books were read.
4:4
Exinde relationibus Romam missis, ipsis quoque libris pa- riter destinatis, apostolica sententia rescribentis ad praedicta concilia emanavit, quae eosdem ipsos, Coe- lestium Pelagiumque, ecclesiastica communione pri- vavit, quorum scriptorum exemplaria habemus in manibus. 4. Adhuc etiam Hierosolymis constitutas Pelagras b accusatus fuit apud synodum, et primo quidem tergiversando, c ambiguis quibusdam se professio- nibus tegens, et prosequens dubia, vel respondens, illam tunc videtur episcoporum audientiam de(??)r- sisse. 5.
Thence, reports having been sent to Rome, the very books being likewise dispatched, the apostolic sentence of the one writing back to the aforesaid councils issued forth, which deprived those very same men, Coelestius and Pelagius, of ecclesiastical communion; copies of which writings we have in our hands. 4. Furthermore, while Pelagius was established at Jerusalem, he was accused before a synod, and at first indeed by evasion, cloaking himself with certain ambiguous professions, and pursuing doubtful matters, or answering, he is seen at that time to have eluded that hearing of the bishops. 5.
4:5
Sed postmodum evidenter deprehensus, d in- sistentibus accusatoribus, a e posteriore synodo, cui sanetae memoriae a Theodolus Antiochiae praesedit episcopus, atque detectus, a sanctis quoque et ve- nerabilibus Hierosolymorum lociu est deturbatus. Quod ejusdem [ Baluz. Ejusdemque] sancti Theodoti ad b reverendissimum urbis Romae episcopum, et sanctae recordationis e Praylii Hierosolymitani epi- scopi missa scripta testantur, quorum exemplaria ad documentum habemus in manibus.
But afterward, being evidently apprehended, the accusers pressing on, by a later synod, over which Theodotus, bishop of Antioch, of holy memory, presided, and being exposed, he was driven out also by the holy and venerable men from the places of the Jerusalemites. This the writings of the same holy Theodotus, sent to the most reverend bishop of the city of Rome, and to Praylius of holy remembrance, bishop of Jerusalem, attest, copies of which we have in our hands as a document.
