14:1
וַיְהִ֣י הַיּ֗וֹם וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יוֹנָתָ֤ן בֶּן־שָׁאוּל֙ אֶל־הַנַּ֙עַר֙ נֹשֵׂ֣א כֵלָ֔יו לְכָ֗ה וְנַעְבְּרָה֙ אֶל־מַצַּ֣ב פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַלָּ֑ז וּלְאָבִ֖יו לֹ֥א הִגִּֽיד׃
καὶ γίνεται ἡμέρα καὶ εἶπεν Ιωναθαν υἱὸς Σαουλ τῷ παιδαρίῳ τῷ αἴροντι τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ δεῦρο καὶ διαβῶμεν εἰς μεσσαβ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων τὴν ἐν τῷ πέραν ἐκείνῳ καὶ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἀπήγγειλεν
Et accidit quadam die ut diceret Jonathas filius Saul ad adolescentem armigerum suum : Veni, et transeamus ad stationem Philisthinorum, quae est trans locum illum. Patri autem suo hoc ipsum non indicavit.
ወሶበ፡ ጸብሐ፡ ይቤሎ፡ ዮናታን፡ ለቍልዔሁ፡ ዘይጸውር፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሉ፡ ነዓ፡ ንዕዱ፡ ውስተ፡ ማሴብ፡ ዘኢሎፍሊ፡ ዘውስተ፡ እንታክቲ፡ ማዕዶት፡ ወኢያይድዖ፡ ለአቡሁ።
Now it happened on a day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come! Let’s go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he didn’t tell his father.
14:2
וְשָׁא֗וּל יוֹשֵׁב֙ בִּקְצֵ֣ה הַגִּבְעָ֔ה תַּ֥חַת הָרִמּ֖וֹן אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּמִגְר֑וֹן וְהָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עִמּ֔וֹ כְּשֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת אִֽישׁ׃
καὶ Σαουλ ἐκάθητο ἐπ’ ἄκρου τοῦ βουνοῦ ὑπὸ τὴν ῥόαν τὴν ἐν Μαγδων καὶ ἦσαν μετ’ αὐτοῦ ὡς ἑξακόσιοι ἄνδρες
Porro Saul morabatur in extrema parte Gabaa sub malogranato, quae erat in Magron : et erat populus cum eo quasi sexcentorum virorum.
ወሳኦልሰ፡ ይነብር፡ ውስተ፡ ርእስ፡ ወግር፡ ታሕተ፡ ሮማን፡ እንተ፡ መጌዶን፡ ወሀለዉ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ስድስቱ፡ ምእት፡ ብእሲ።
Saul stayed in the uttermost part of Gibeah under the pomegranate tree which is in Migron; and the people who were with him were about six hundred men,
14:3
וַאֲחִיָּ֣ה בֶן־אֲחִט֡וּב אֲחִ֡י אִיכָב֣וֹד׀ בֶּן־פִּֽינְחָ֨ס בֶּן־עֵלִ֜י כֹּהֵ֧ן׀יְהֹוָ֛ה בְּשִׁל֖וֹ נֹשֵׂ֣א אֵפ֑וֹד וְהָעָם֙ לֹ֣א יָדַ֔ע כִּ֥י הָלַ֖ךְ יוֹנָתָֽן׃
καὶ Αχια υἱὸς Αχιτωβ ἀδελφοῦ Ιωχαβηδ υἱοῦ Φινεες υἱοῦ Ηλι ἱερεὺς τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν Σηλωμ αἴρων εφουδ καὶ ὁ λαὸς οὐκ ᾔδει ὅτι πεπόρευται Ιωναθαν
Et Achias filius Achitob fratris Ichabod filii Phinees, qui ortus fuerat ex Heli sacerdote Domini in Silo, portabat ephod. Sed et populus ignorabat quo isset Jonathas.
ወአኪያ፡ ወልደ፡ አኪጦብ፡ እኁሁ፡ ለዮከሌድ፡ ወልደ፡ ፊንሐስ፡ ወልደ፡ ኤሊ፡ ካህኑ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ውስተ፡ ሴሎም፡ ዘይጸውር፡ ኤፉደ፡ ወኢያእመሩ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ከመ፡ ኀለፈ፡ ዮናታን።
including Ahijah the son of Ahitub, Ichabod’s brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli the priest of Yahweh in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. The people didn’t know that Jonathan was gone.
14:4
וּבֵ֣ין הַֽמַּעְבְּר֗וֹת אֲשֶׁ֨ר בִּקֵּ֤שׁ יֽוֹנָתָן֙ לַעֲבֹר֙ עַל־מַצַּ֣ב פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים שֵׁן־הַסֶּ֤לַע מֵהָעֵ֙בֶר֙ מִזֶּ֔ה וְשֵׁן־הַסֶּ֥לַע מֵהָעֵ֖בֶר מִזֶּ֑ה וְשֵׁ֤ם הָאֶחָד֙ בּוֹצֵ֔ץ וְשֵׁ֥ם הָאֶחָ֖ד סֶֽנֶּה׃
καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῆς διαβάσεως οὗ ἐζήτει Ιωναθαν διαβῆναι εἰς τὴν ὑπόστασιν τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἀκρωτήριον πέτρας ἔνθεν καὶ ἀκρωτήριον πέτρας ἔνθεν ὄνομα τῷ ἑνὶ Βαζες καὶ ὄνομα τῷ ἄλλῳ Σεννα
Erant autem inter ascensus per quos nitebatur Jonathas transire ad stationem Philisthinorum, eminentes petrae ex utraque parte, et quasi in modum dentium scopuli hinc et inde praerupti : nomen uni Boses, et nomen alteri Sene :
ወማእከለ፡ ይእቲ፡ ማዕዶት፡ እንተ፡ ኀበ፡ ፈቀደ፡ ይዕዱ፡ ዮናታን፡ ውስተ፡ ደወሎሙ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ፡ ፍናው፡ ውስተ፡ ውእቱ፡ መካን፡ ዘኴኵሕ ፤ ስማ፡ ለእሐቲ፡ ባዜስ፡ ወስማ፡ ለካልእታ፡ ሰናአር።
Between the passes, by which Jonathan sought to go over to the Philistines’ garrison, there was a rocky crag on the one side and a rocky crag on the other side; and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
14:5
הַשֵּׁ֧ן הָאֶחָ֛ד מָצ֥וּק מִצָּפ֖וֹן מ֣וּל מִכְמָ֑שׂ וְהָאֶחָ֥ד מִנֶּ֖גֶב מ֥וּל גָּֽבַע׃ {ס}
ἡ ὁδὸς ἡ μία ἀπὸ βορρᾶ ἐρχομένῳ Μαχμας καὶ ἡ ὁδὸς ἡ ἄλλη ἀπὸ νότου ἐρχομένῳ Γαβεε
unus scopulus prominens ad aquilonem ex adverso Machmas, et alter ad meridiem contra Gabaa.
አሐቲ፡ ፍኖት፡ እመንገለ፡ መስዕ፡ ትመጽእ፡ ቅርብተ፡ መኬማስ፡ ወካልእት፡ ፍኖት፡ እመንገለ፡ አዜብ፡ ትመጽእ፡ ላዕለ፡ ገበኦን።
The one crag rose up on the north in front of Michmash, and the other on the south in front of Geba.
14:6
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹנָתָ֜ן אֶל־הַנַּ֣עַר׀ נֹשֵׂ֣א כֵלָ֗יו לְכָה֙ וְנַעְבְּרָ֗ה אֶל־מַצַּב֙ הָעֲרֵלִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה אוּלַ֛י יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה יְהֹוָ֖ה לָ֑נוּ כִּ֣י אֵ֤ין לַֽיהֹוָה֙ מַעְצ֔וֹר לְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַ בְּרַ֖ב א֥וֹ בִמְעָֽט׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ιωναθαν πρὸς τὸ παιδάριον τὸ αἶρον τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ δεῦρο διαβῶμεν εἰς μεσσαβ τῶν ἀπεριτμήτων τούτων εἴ τι ποιήσαι ἡμῖν κύριος ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν τῷ κυρίῳ συνεχόμενον σῴζειν ἐν πολλοῖς ἢ ἐν ὀλίγοις
Dixit autem Jonathas ad adolescentem armigerum suum : Veni, transeamus ad stationem incircumcisorum horum, si forte faciat Dominus pro nobis : quia non est Domino difficile salvare, vel in multis, vel in paucis.
ወይቤሎ፡ ዮናታን፡ ለቍልዔሁ፡ ዘይጸውር፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሉ፡ ነዓ፡ ንዕዱ፡ ውስተ፡ ማሴብ፡ ዘእሉ፡ ቈላፋን፡ ዮጊ፡ ይረድአነ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እስመ፡ አልቦ፡ ተስፋ፡ ሐይው፡ ኢበብዙኅ፡ ወኢበውሑድ።
Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come! Let’s go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that Yahweh will work for us, for there is no restraint on Yahweh to save by many or by few.”
14:7
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ נֹשֵׂ֣א כֵלָ֔יו עֲשֵׂ֖ה כׇּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּלְבָבֶ֑ךָ נְטֵ֣ה לָ֔ךְ הִנְנִ֥י עִמְּךָ֖ כִּלְבָבֶֽךָ׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ποίει πᾶν ὃ ἐὰν ἡ καρδία σου ἐκκλίνῃ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ μετὰ σοῦ ὡς ἡ καρδία σοῦ καρδία μοῦ
Dixitque ei armiger suus : Fac omnia quae placent animo tuo : perge quo cupis, et ero tecum ubicumque volueris.
ወይቤሎ፡ ውእቱ፡ ዘይጸውር፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሉ፡ ግበር፡ በከመ፡ ፈቀደ፡ ልብከ ፤ ነየ፡ አነ፡ ሀለውኩ፡ ምስሌከ ፤ ከመ፡ ልብከ፡ ልብየ።
His armor bearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Go, and behold, I am with you according to your heart.”
14:8
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ יְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ן הִנֵּ֛ה אֲנַ֥חְנוּ עֹבְרִ֖ים אֶל־הָאֲנָשִׁ֑ים וְנִגְלִ֖ינוּ אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃
καὶ εἶπεν Ιωναθαν ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς διαβαίνομεν πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας καὶ κατακυλισθησόμεθα πρὸς αὐτούς
Et ait Jonathas : Ecce nos transimus ad viros istos. Cumque apparuerimus eis,
ወይቤሎ፡ ዮናታን፡ ናሁ፡ ነዐርግ፡ ንሕነ፡ ኀበ፡ እሉ፡ ዕደው፡ ወንቀርብ፡ ኀቤሆሙ።
Then Jonathan said, “Behold, we will pass over to the men, and we will reveal ourselves to them.
14:9
אִם־כֹּ֤ה יֹֽאמְרוּ֙ אֵלֵ֔ינוּ דֹּ֕מּוּ עַד־הַגִּיעֵ֖נוּ אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם וְעָמַ֣דְנוּ תַחְתֵּ֔ינוּ וְלֹ֥א נַעֲלֶ֖ה אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃
ἐὰν τάδε εἴπωσιν πρὸς ἡμᾶς ἀπόστητε ἐκεῖ ἕως ἂν ἀπαγγείλωμεν ὑμῖν καὶ στησόμεθα ἐφ’ ἑαυτοῖς καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀναβῶμεν ἐπ’ αὐτούς
si taliter locuti fuerint ad nos : Manete donec veniamus ad vos : stemus in loco nostro, nec ascendamus ad eos.
ለእመ፡ ይቤሉነ፡ ረሐቁ፡ ከሐከ፡ እስከ፡ ንነግረክሙ፡ ቃለ፡ ወንትገሐሥ፡ እምኔሆሙ፡ ወኢነዐርግ፡ ኀቤሆሙ።
If they say this to us, ‘Wait until we come to you!’ then we will stand still in our place and will not go up to them.
14:10
וְאִם־כֹּ֨ה יֹאמְר֜וּ עֲל֤וּ עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ וְעָלִ֔ינוּ כִּֽי־נְתָנָ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה בְּיָדֵ֑נוּ וְזֶה־לָּ֖נוּ הָאֽוֹת׃
καὶ ἐὰν τάδε εἴπωσιν πρὸς ἡμᾶς ἀνάβητε πρὸς ἡμᾶς καὶ ἀναβησόμεθα ὅτι παραδέδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος εἰς τὰς χεῖρας ἡμῶν τοῦτο ἡμῖν τὸ σημεῖον
Si autem dixerint : Ascendite ad nos : ascendamus, quia tradidit eos Dominus in manibus nostris : hoc erit nobis signum.
ወለእመ፡ ይቤሉነ፡ ዕርጉ፡ ኀቤነ፡ ወነዐርግ፡ ኀቤሆሙ፡ ወዝንቱ፡ ውእቱ፡ ትእምርትነ፡ አመ፡ አግብኦሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ውስተ፡ እዴነ።
But if they say this, ‘Come up to us!’ then we will go up, for Yahweh has delivered them into our hand. This shall be the sign to us.”
14:11
וַיִּגָּל֣וּ שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם אֶל־מַצַּ֖ב פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים הִנֵּ֤ה עִבְרִים֙ יֹֽצְאִ֔ים מִן־הַחֹרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִתְחַבְּאוּ־שָֽׁם׃
καὶ εἰσῆλθον ἀμφότεροι εἰς μεσσαβ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ λέγουσιν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι ἰδοὺ οἱ Εβραῖοι ἐκπορεύονται ἐκ τῶν τρωγλῶν αὐτῶν οὗ ἐκρύβησαν ἐκεῖ
Apparuit igitur uterque stationi Philisthinorum : dixeruntque Philisthiim : En Hebraei egrediuntur de cavernis in quibus absconditi fuerant.
ወቦኡ፡ ክልኤሆሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ማሴብ፡ ዘኢሎፍሊ፡ ወይቤሉ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ነዮሙ፡ ዕብራውያን፡ ይወፅኡ፡ እምነ፡ ግበቢሆሙ፡ እምኀበ፡ ተኀብኡ።
Both of them revealed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines; and the Philistines said, “Behold, the Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they had hidden themselves!”
14:12
וַיַּעֲנוּ֩ אַנְשֵׁ֨י הַמַּצָּבָ֜ה אֶת־יוֹנָתָ֣ן׀ וְאֶת־נֹשֵׂ֣א כֵלָ֗יו וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ עֲל֣וּ אֵלֵ֔ינוּ וְנוֹדִ֥יעָה אֶתְכֶ֖ם דָּבָ֑ר {פ} וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יוֹנָתָ֜ן אֶל־נֹשֵׂ֤א כֵלָיו֙ עֲלֵ֣ה אַחֲרַ֔י כִּֽי־נְתָנָ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה בְּיַ֥ד יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν οἱ ἄνδρες μεσσαβ πρὸς Ιωναθαν καὶ πρὸς τὸν αἴροντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγουσιν ἀνάβητε πρὸς ἡμᾶς καὶ γνωριοῦμεν ὑμῖν ῥῆμα καὶ εἶπεν Ιωναθαν πρὸς τὸν αἴροντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ἀνάβηθι ὀπίσω μου ὅτι παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος εἰς χεῖρας Ισραηλ
Et locuti sunt viri de statione ad Jonathan et ad armigerum ejus, dixeruntque : Ascendite ad nos, et ostendemus vobis rem. Et ait Jonathas ad armigerum suum : Ascendamus : sequere me : tradidit enim Dominus eos in manus Israël.
ወኦውሥእዎሙ፡ ሰብአ፡ ማሴብ፡ ወይቤልዎሙ፡ ለዮናታን፡ ወለወልዱ፡ ዘይጸውር፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሉ፡ ዕርጉ፡ ኀቤነ፡ ወንነግረክሙ፡ ቃለ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ዮናታን፡ ለወልዱ፡ ዘይጸውር፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሉ፡ ዕርግ፡ ትልወኒ፡ እስመ፡ አግብኦሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ውስተ፡ እዴሆሙ፡ ለእስራኤል።
The men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armor bearer, and said, “Come up to us, and we will show you something!” Jonathan said to his armor bearer, “Come up after me, for Yahweh has delivered them into the hand of Israel.”
14:13
וַיַּ֣עַל יוֹנָתָ֗ן עַל־יָדָיו֙ וְעַל־רַגְלָ֔יו וְנֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלָ֖יו אַחֲרָ֑יו וַֽיִּפְּלוּ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יוֹנָתָ֔ן וְנֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלָ֖יו מְמוֹתֵ֥ת אַחֲרָֽיו׃
καὶ ἀνέβη Ιωναθαν ἐπὶ τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπέβλεψαν κατὰ πρόσωπον Ιωναθαν καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτούς καὶ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ἐπεδίδου ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ
Ascendit autem Jonathas manibus et pedibus reptans, et armiger ejus post eum. Itaque alii cadebant ante Jonathan, alios armiger ejus interficiebat sequens eum.
ወዐርገ፡ ዮናታን፡ በእደዊሀ፡ ወበእገሪሁ፡ ወዘይጸውር፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሉ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ወሜጠ፡ ገጾ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወቀተሎሙ፡ ወዝክቱሰ፡ ዘይጸውር፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሉ፡ ይሜጥዎ፡ እምድኀሬሁ።
Jonathan climbed up on his hands and on his feet, and his armor bearer after him, and they fell before Jonathan; and his armor bearer killed them after him.
14:14
וַתְּהִ֞י הַמַּכָּ֣ה הָרִאשֹׁנָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר הִכָּ֧ה יוֹנָתָ֛ן וְנֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלָ֖יו כְּעֶשְׂרִ֣ים אִ֑ישׁ כְּבַחֲצִ֥י מַעֲנָ֖ה צֶ֥מֶד שָׂדֶֽה׃
καὶ ἐγενήθη ἡ πληγὴ ἡ πρώτη ἣν ἐπάταξεν Ιωναθαν καὶ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ὡς εἴκοσι ἄνδρες ἐν βολίσι καὶ ἐν πετροβόλοις καὶ ἐν κόχλαξιν τοῦ πεδίου
Et facta est plaga prima qua percussit Jonathas et armiger ejus, quasi viginti virorum in media parte jugeri quam par boum in die arare consuevit.
ወኮነት፡ ቀዳሚት፡ ቀትሉ፡ ለዮናታን፡ ምስለ፡ ዘይጸውር፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሉ፡ ዕሥራ፡ ብእሲ፡ ዘበሞገርተ፡ እብን፡ ወበዕፀወ፡ ገዳም።
That first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armor bearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were half a furrow’s length in an acre of land.
14:15
וַתְּהִי֩ חֲרָדָ֨ה בַמַּחֲנֶ֤ה בַשָּׂדֶה֙ וּבְכׇל־הָעָ֔ם הַמַּצָּב֙ וְהַמַּשְׁחִ֔ית חָרְד֖וּ גַּם־הֵ֑מָּה וַתִּרְגַּ֣ז הָאָ֔רֶץ וַתְּהִ֖י לְחֶרְדַּ֥ת אֱלֹהִֽים׃
καὶ ἐγενήθη ἔκστασις ἐν τῇ παρεμβολῇ καὶ ἐν ἀγρῷ καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς οἱ ἐν μεσσαβ καὶ οἱ διαφθείροντες ἐξέστησαν καὶ αὐτοὶ οὐκ ἤθελον ποιεῖν καὶ ἐθάμβησεν ἡ γῆ καὶ ἐγενήθη ἔκστασις παρὰ κυρίου
Et factum est miraculum in castris per agros : sed et omnis populus stationis eorum qui ierant ad praedandum, obstupuit, et conturbata est terra : et accidit quasi miraculum a Deo.
ወኮነ፡ ድንጋፄ፡ ውስተ፡ ትዕይንት፡ ወውስተ፡ ሐቅል፡ ወኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዘውስተ፡ ማሴብ፡ ወእለ፡ ይትቃተሉሂ፡ ደንገፁ፡ ወስእኑ፡ ተቃትሎ፡ ወደንገፀት፡ ምድር፡ ወኮነ፡ ድንጋፄ፡ እምኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
There was a trembling in the camp, in the field, and among all the people; the garrison and the raiders also trembled; and the earth quaked, so there was an exceedingly great trembling.
14:16
וַיִּרְא֤וּ הַצֹּפִים֙ לְשָׁא֔וּל בְּגִבְעַ֖ת בִּנְיָמִ֑ן וְהִנֵּ֧ה הֶהָמ֛וֹן נָמ֖וֹג וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ וַהֲלֹֽם׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶδον οἱ σκοποὶ τοῦ Σαουλ ἐν Γαβεε Βενιαμιν καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡ παρεμβολὴ τεταραγμένη ἔνθεν καὶ ἔνθεν
Et respexerunt speculatores Saul qui erant in Gabaa Benjamin, et ecce multitudo prostrata, et huc illucque diffugiens.
ወርእዩ፡ ሰብአ፡ ዐይን፡ እለ፡ እምኀበ፡ ሳኦል፡ በገባኦን፡ ዘብንያም፡ ከመ፡ ተሀውከ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ፡ እምለፌሂ፡ ወእምለፌሂ።
The watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and behold, the multitude melted away and scattered.
14:17
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֗וּל לָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֔וֹ פִּקְדוּ־נָ֣א וּרְא֔וּ מִ֖י הָלַ֣ךְ מֵעִמָּ֑נוּ וַֽיִּפְקְד֔וּ וְהִנֵּ֛ה אֵ֥ין יוֹנָתָ֖ן וְנֹשֵׂ֥א כֵלָֽיו׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ τῷ λαῷ τῷ μετ’ αὐτοῦ ἐπισκέψασθε δὴ καὶ ἴδετε τίς πεπόρευται ἐξ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπεσκέψαντο καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐχ εὑρίσκετο Ιωναθαν καὶ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ
Et ait Saul populo qui erat cum eo : Requirite, et videte quis abierit ex nobis. Cumque requisissent, repertum est non adesse Jonathan et armigerum ejus.
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለሕዝብ፡ እለ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ተፋቀዱ፡ ወአእምሩ፡ መኑ፡ ዘሖረ፡ እምውስቴትክሙ፡ ወተፋቀዱ፡ ወኢተረክበ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወኢዘይጸውር፡ ንዋየ፡ ሐቅሉ።
Then Saul said to the people who were with him, “Count now, and see who is missing from us.” When they had counted, behold, Jonathan and his armor bearer were not there.
14:18
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שָׁאוּל֙ לַֽאֲחִיָּ֔ה הַגִּ֖ישָׁה אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים כִּֽי־הָיָ֞ה אֲר֧וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא וּבְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ τῷ Αχια προσάγαγε τὸ εφουδ ὅτι αὐτὸς ἦρεν τὸ εφουδ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐνώπιον Ισραηλ
Et ait Saul ad Achiam : Applica arcam Dei. (Erat enim ibi arca Dei in die illa cum filiis Israël.)
ወይቤሎ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለአኪያ፡ አምጽእ፡ ኤፉደ፡ እስመ፡ ውእቱ፡ ይእውር፡ ኤፉደ፡ ይእተ፡ ኦሚረ፡ ቅድሜሆሙ፡ ለእስራኤል።
Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring God’s ark here.” For God’s ark was with the children of Israel at that time.
14:19
וַיְהִ֗י עַ֣ד דִּבֶּ֤ר שָׁאוּל֙ אֶל־הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְהֶהָמ֗וֹן אֲשֶׁר֙ בְּמַחֲנֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ הָל֖וֹךְ וָרָ֑ב {פ} וַיֹּ֧אמֶר שָׁא֛וּל אֶל־הַכֹּהֵ֖ן אֱסֹ֥ף יָדֶֽךָ׃
καὶ ἐγενήθη ὡς ἐλάλει Σαουλ πρὸς τὸν ἱερέα καὶ ὁ ἦχος ἐν τῇ παρεμβολῇ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων ἐπορεύετο πορευόμενος καὶ ἐπλήθυνεν καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ πρὸς τὸν ἱερέα συνάγαγε τὰς χεῖράς σου
Cumque loqueretur Saul ad sacerdotem, tumultus magnus exortus est in castris Philisthinorum : crescebatque paulatim, et clarius resonabat. Et ait Saul ad sacerdotem : Contrahe manum tuam.
ወእምዝ፡ እንዘ፡ ይትናገሮ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለካህን፡ በዝኀ፡ ዝክቱ፡ ድምፀ፡ ሁከት፡ ውስተ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለካህን፡ ኅድግ፡ ምዕረ።
While Saul talked to the priest, the tumult that was in the camp of the Philistines went on and increased; and Saul said to the priest, “Withdraw your hand!”
14:20
וַיִּזָּעֵ֣ק שָׁא֗וּל וְכׇל־הָעָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֔וֹ וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ עַד־הַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה וְהִנֵּ֨ה הָיְתָ֜ה חֶ֤רֶב אִישׁ֙ בְּרֵעֵ֔הוּ מְהוּמָ֖ה גְּדוֹלָ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃
καὶ ἀνεβόησεν Σαουλ καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ὁ μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔρχονται ἕως τοῦ πολέμου καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγένετο ῥομφαία ἀνδρὸς ἐπὶ τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ σύγχυσις μεγάλη σφόδρα
Conclamavit ergo Saul, et omnis populus qui erat cum eo, et venerunt usque ad locum certaminis : et ecce versus fuerat gladius uniuscujusque ad proximum suum, et caedes magna nimis.
ወሖረ፡ ሳኦል፡ ወኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ እለ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ኀበ፡ ይትቃተሉ፡ ወተቃተልዎሙ፡ ወኮነ፡ ዐቢይ፡ ቀትል፡ ጥቀ።
Saul and all the people who were with him were gathered together, and came to the battle; and behold, they were all striking each other with their swords in very great confusion.
14:21
וְהָעִבְרִ֗ים הָי֤וּ לַפְּלִשְׁתִּים֙ כְּאֶתְמ֣וֹל שִׁלְשׁ֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָל֥וּ עִמָּ֛ם בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה סָבִ֑יב וְגַם־הֵ֗מָּה לִֽהְיוֹת֙ עִם־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עִם־שָׁא֖וּל וְיוֹנָתָֽן׃
καὶ οἱ δοῦλοι οἱ ὄντες ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν μετὰ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων οἱ ἀναβάντες εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν ἐπεστράφησαν καὶ αὐτοὶ εἶναι μετὰ Ισραηλ τῶν μετὰ Σαουλ καὶ Ιωναθαν
Sed et Hebraei qui fuerant cum Philisthiim heri et nudiustertius, ascenderantque cum eis in castris, reversi sunt ut essent cum Israël qui erant cum Saul et Jonatha.
ወእልክቱኒ፡ አግብርቲሆሙ፡ እለ፡ ትካት፡ የዐርጉ፡ ውስተ፡ ትዕይንቶሙ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ፡ ገብኡ፡ ኀበ፡ እስራኤል፡ ምስለ፡ ዮናታን።
Now the Hebrews who were with the Philistines before and who went up with them into the camp from all around, even they also turned to be with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.
14:22
וְכֹל֩ אִ֨ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל הַמִּֽתְחַבְּאִ֤ים בְּהַר־אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ שָֽׁמְע֔וּ כִּי־נָ֖סוּ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַֽיַּדְבְּק֥וּ גַם־הֵ֛מָּה אַחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
καὶ πᾶς Ισραηλ οἱ κρυπτόμενοι ἐν τῷ ὄρει Εφραιμ καὶ ἤκουσαν ὅτι πεφεύγασιν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι καὶ συνάπτουσιν καὶ αὐτοὶ ὀπίσω αὐτῶν εἰς πόλεμον
Omnes quoque Israëlitae qui se absconderant in monte Ephraim, audientes quod fugissent Philisthaei, sociaverunt se cum suis in praelio. Et erant cum Saul quasi decem millia virorum.
ወኵሎሙ፡ እስራኤል፡ እለ፡ ይትኀብኡ፡ ቀዳሚ፡ ውስተ፡ ይብረ፡ ኤፍሬም፡ ሶበ፡ ሰምዑ፡ ከመ፡ ነትዑ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ዴገኑ፡ እሙንቱኒ፡ ይትቃተሉ፡ ምስሌሆሙ፡ ወአድኀኖሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ ወኀለፈ፡ እምነ፡ በሞት፡ ቀትሎሙ፡ ወኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዘምስለ፡ ሳኦል፡ የአክሉ፡ ፼ብእሲ።
Likewise all the men of Israel who had hidden themselves in the hill country of Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.
14:23
וַיּ֧וֹשַׁע יְהֹוָ֛ה בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְהַ֨מִּלְחָמָ֔ה עָבְרָ֖ה אֶת־בֵּ֥ית אָֽוֶן׃
καὶ ἔσωσεν κύριος ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ ὁ πόλεμος διῆλθεν τὴν Βαιθων καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἦν μετὰ Σαουλ ὡς δέκα χιλιάδες ἀνδρῶν καὶ ἦν ὁ πόλεμος διεσπαρμένος εἰς ὅλην τὴν πόλιν ἐν τῷ ὄρει Εφραιμ
Et salvavit Dominus in die illa Israël : pugna autem pervenit usque ad Bethaven.
ወተዘርወ፡ ቀትሎሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ኵላ፡ ይእቲ፡ ሀገር፡ እንተ፡ ውስተ፡ ደብረ፡ ኤፍሬም።
So Yahweh saved Israel that day; and the battle passed over by Beth Aven.
14:24
וְאִֽישׁ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל נִגַּ֖שׂ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וַיֹּ֩אֶל֩ שָׁא֨וּל אֶת־הָעָ֜ם לֵאמֹ֗ר אָר֣וּר הָ֠אִ֠ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יֹ֨אכַל לֶ֜חֶם עַד־הָעֶ֗רֶב וְנִקַּמְתִּי֙ מֵאֹ֣יְבַ֔י וְלֹא־טָעַ֥ם כׇּל־הָעָ֖ם לָֽחֶם׃ {ס}
καὶ Σαουλ ἠγνόησεν ἄγνοιαν μεγάλην ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ ἀρᾶται τῷ λαῷ λέγων ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃς φάγεται ἄρτον ἕως ἑσπέρας καὶ ἐκδικήσω τὸν ἐχθρόν μου καὶ οὐκ ἐγεύσατο πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἄρτου
Et viri Israël sociati sunt sibi in die illa : adjuravit autem Saul populum, dicens : Maledictus vir qui comederit panem usque ad vesperam, donec ulciscar de inimicis meis. Et non manducavit universus populus panem :
ወሳኦል፡ አብደ፡ ዐቢየ፡ እበደ፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ ወረገሞሙ፡ ለሕዝብ፡ እንዘ፡ ይብል፡ ርጉመ፡ ለይኩን፡ ብእሲ፡ ዘበልዐ፡ እክለ፡ እስከ፡ ሰርክ፡ ወእትቤቀሎ፡ ለፀርየ ፤ ወኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ኢጥዕመ፡ እክለ፡ ወኵሉ፡ ብሔር፡ ኢመስሐ።
The men of Israel were distressed that day; for Saul had adjured the people, saying, “Cursed is the man who eats any food until it is evening, and I am avenged of my enemies.” So none of the people tasted food.
14:25
וְכׇל־הָאָ֖רֶץ בָּ֣אוּ בַיָּ֑עַר וַיְהִ֥י דְבַ֖שׁ עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃
καὶ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ ἠρίστα καὶ ιααρ δρυμὸς ἦν μελισσῶνος κατὰ πρόσωπον τοῦ ἀγροῦ
omneque terrae vulgus venit in saltum, in quo erat mel super faciem agri.
ወናሁ፡ ቀፎ፡ ዘመዓር፡ ውስተ፡ ገጸ፡ ገዳም።
All the people came into the forest; and there was honey on the ground.
14:26
וַיָּבֹ֤א הָעָם֙ אֶל־הַיַּ֔עַר וְהִנֵּ֖ה הֵ֣לֶךְ דְּבָ֑שׁ וְאֵין־מַשִּׂ֤יג יָדוֹ֙ אֶל־פִּ֔יו כִּֽי־יָרֵ֥א הָעָ֖ם אֶת־הַשְּׁבֻעָֽה׃
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ὁ λαὸς εἰς τὸν μελισσῶνα καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπορεύετο λαλῶν καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἦν ἐπιστρέφων τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἐφοβήθη ὁ λαὸς τὸν ὅρκον κυρίου
Ingressus est itaque populus saltum, et apparuit fluens mel, nullusque applicuit manum ad os suum : timebat enim populus juramentum.
ወቦአ፡ ውእቱ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ኀበ፡ ውእቱ፡ መዓር፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘአልዐለ፡ እዴሁ፡ ወወደየ፡ ውስተ፡ አፉሁ፡ እስመ፡ ፈርሁ፡ ሕዝብ፡ መሐላ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
When the people had come to the forest, behold, honey was dripping, but no one put his hand to his mouth, for the people feared the oath.
14:27
וְיוֹנָתָ֣ן לֹא־שָׁמַ֗ע בְּהַשְׁבִּ֣יעַ אָבִיו֮ אֶת־הָעָם֒ וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח אֶת־קְצֵ֤ה הַמַּטֶּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּיָד֔וֹ וַיִּטְבֹּ֥ל אוֹתָ֖הּ בְּיַעְרַ֣ת הַדְּבָ֑שׁ וַיָּ֤שֶׁב יָדוֹ֙ אֶל־פִּ֔יו (ותראנה) [וַתָּאֹ֖רְנָה] עֵינָֽיו׃
καὶ Ιωναθαν οὐκ ἀκηκόει ἐν τῷ ὁρκίζειν τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ τὸν λαόν καὶ ἐξέτεινεν τὸ ἄκρον τοῦ σκήπτρου αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔβαψεν αὐτὸ εἰς τὸ κηρίον τοῦ μέλιτος καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνέβλεψαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ
Porro Jonathas non audierat cum adjuraret pater ejus populum : extenditque summitatem virgae quam habebat in manu, et intinxit in favum mellis : et convertit manum suam ad os suum, et illuminati sunt oculi ejus.
ወዮናታንሰ፡ ኢሰምዐ፡ ከመ፡ አምሐሎሙ፡ አቡሁ፡ ለሕዝብ፡ ወአልዐለ፡ ከተማ፡ በትሩ፡ በእዴሁ፡ ወጠምዐ፡ ውስተ፡ ዘትረ፡ መዓር፡ ወአግብዐ፡ እዴሁ፡ ውስተ፡ አፉሁ፡ ወተከሥተ፡ አዕይንቲሁ።
But Jonathan didn’t hear when his father commanded the people with the oath. Therefore he put out the end of the rod that was in his hand and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes brightened.
14:28
וַיַּ֩עַן֩ אִ֨ישׁ מֵהָעָ֜ם וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הַשְׁבֵּ֩עַ֩ הִשְׁבִּ֨יעַ אָבִ֤יךָ אֶת־הָעָם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אָר֥וּר הָאִ֛ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יֹ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם הַיּ֑וֹם וַיָּ֖עַף הָעָֽם׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη εἷς ἐκ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ εἶπεν ὁρκίσας ὥρκισεν ὁ πατήρ σου τὸν λαὸν λέγων ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃς φάγεται ἄρτον σήμερον καὶ ἐξελύθη ὁ λαός
Respondensque unus de populo, ait : Jurejurando constrinxit pater tuus populum, dicens : Maledictus vir qui comederit panem hodie. (Defecerat autem populus.)
ወይቤሎ፡ አሐዱ፡ እምውስተ፡ ሕዝብ፡ አምሕሎ፡ አምሐሎሙ፡ አኩከ፡ ለሕዝብ፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ ርጉመ፡ ለይኩን፡ ብእሲ፡ ዘይበልዕ፡ እክለ፡ ዮም፡ ወደክመ፡ ሕዝብ።
Then one of the people answered, and said, “Your father directly commanded the people with an oath, saying, ‘Cursed is the man who eats food today.’” So the people were faint.
14:29
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ יֽוֹנָתָ֔ן עָכַ֥ר אָבִ֖י אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ רְאוּ־נָא֙ כִּי־אֹ֣רוּ עֵינַ֔י כִּ֣י טָעַ֔מְתִּי מְעַ֖ט דְּבַ֥שׁ הַזֶּֽה׃
καὶ ἔγνω Ιωναθαν καὶ εἶπεν ἀπήλλαχεν ὁ πατήρ μου τὴν γῆν ἰδὲ δὴ ὅτι εἶδον οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου ὅτι ἐγευσάμην βραχὺ τοῦ μέλιτος τούτου
Dixitque Jonathas : Turbavit pater meus terram : vidistis ipsi quia illuminati sunt oculi mei, eo quod gustaverim paululum de melle isto :
ወአእመረ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወይቤ፡ ኀደጋ፡ አቡየ፡ ለምድር ፤ ናሁ፡ ተከሥተ፡ አዕይንትየ፡ ሶበ፡ ጥዕምኩ፡ ሕቀ፡ እምውስተ፡ ዝንቱ፡ መዓር።
Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land. Please look how my eyes have brightened because I tasted a little of this honey.
14:30
אַ֗ף כִּ֡י לוּא֩ אָכֹ֨ל אָכַ֤ל הַיּוֹם֙ הָעָ֔ם מִשְּׁלַ֥ל אֹיְבָ֖יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָצָ֑א כִּ֥י עַתָּ֛ה לֹא־רָבְתָ֥ה מַכָּ֖ה בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃
ἀλλ’ ὅτι εἰ ἔφαγεν ἔσθων ὁ λαὸς σήμερον τῶν σκύλων τῶν ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν ὧν εὗρεν ὅτι νῦν ἂν μείζων ἦν ἡ πληγὴ ἐν τοῖς ἀλλοφύλοις
quanto magis si comedisset populus de praeda inimicorum suorum, quam reperit ? nonne major plaga facta fuisset in Philisthiim ?
ወሶበሰ፡ በልዑ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዮም፡ ወበልዑ፡ ምህርካ፡ ፀሮሙ፡ ፈድፋደ፡ ወዐቢየ፡ ቀትለ፡ እምቀተልዎሙ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ።
How much more, if perhaps the people had eaten freely today of the plunder of their enemies which they found? For now there has been no great slaughter among the Philistines.”
14:31
וַיַּכּ֞וּ בַּיּ֤וֹם הַהוּא֙ בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים מִמִּכְמָ֖שׂ אַיָּלֹ֑נָה וַיָּ֥עַף הָעָ֖ם מְאֹֽד׃
καὶ ἐπάταξεν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἐκ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων ἐν Μαχεμας καὶ ἐκοπίασεν ὁ λαὸς σφόδρα
Percusserunt ergo in die illa Philisthaeos a Machmis usque in Ajalon. Defatigatus est autem populus nimis :
ወቀተሉ፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ እምነ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ ዘመኬማስ፡ ወደክመ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ጥቀ።
They struck the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon. The people were very faint;
14:32
(ויעש) [וַיַּ֤עַט] הָעָם֙ אֶל־[הַשָּׁלָ֔ל] (שלל) וַיִּקְח֨וּ צֹ֧אן וּבָקָ֛ר וּבְנֵ֥י בָקָ֖ר וַיִּשְׁחֲטוּ־אָ֑רְצָה וַיֹּ֥אכַל הָעָ֖ם עַל־הַדָּֽם׃
καὶ ἐκλίθη ὁ λαὸς εἰς τὰ σκῦλα καὶ ἔλαβεν ὁ λαὸς ποίμνια καὶ βουκόλια καὶ τέκνα βοῶν καὶ ἔσφαξεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ ἤσθιεν ὁ λαὸς σὺν τῷ αἵματι
et versus ad praedam tulit oves, et boves, et vitulos, et mactaverunt in terra : comeditque populus cum sanguine.
ወሖሩ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ውስተ፡ ምህርካ፡ ወነሥኡ፡ ሕዝብ፡ መራዕየ፡ ወአልሀምተ፡ (ወአባግዐ፡) ወእጕለ፡ አልህምት፡ ወቀተሉ፡ በከመ፡ ረከሱ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ወበልዑ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ምስለ፡ ደም።
and the people pounced on the plunder, and took sheep, cattle, and calves, and killed them on the ground; and the people ate them with the blood.
14:33
וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ לְשָׁאוּל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּ֥ה הָעָ֛ם חֹטִ֥אים לַיהֹוָ֖ה לֶאֱכֹ֣ל עַל־הַדָּ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר בְּגַדְתֶּ֔ם גֹּלּוּ־אֵלַ֥י הַיּ֖וֹם אֶ֥בֶן גְּדוֹלָֽה׃
καὶ ἀπηγγέλη τῷ Σαουλ λέγοντες ἡμάρτηκεν ὁ λαὸς τῷ κυρίῳ φαγὼν σὺν τῷ αἵματι καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ ἐν Γεθθεμ κυλίσατέ μοι λίθον ἐνταῦθα μέγαν
Nuntiaverunt autem Sauli dicentes quod populus peccasset Domino, comedens cum sanguine. Qui ait : Praevaricati estis : volvite ad me jam nunc saxum grande.
ወአይድዕዎ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ አበሱ፡ ሕዝብ፡ እስመ፡ በልዑ፡ ምስለ፡ ደም፡ ወይቤ፡ ሳኦል፡ በውስተ፡ ጌቴም፡ አንኰርኵሩ፡ ሊተ፡ እብነ፡ ዐቢየ፡ ዝየ።
Then they told Saul, saying, “Behold, the people are sinning against Yahweh, in that they eat meat with the blood.” He said, “You have dealt treacherously. Roll a large stone to me today!”
14:34
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֣וּל פֻּ֣צוּ בָעָ֡ם וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֣ם לָהֶ֡ם הַגִּ֣ישׁוּ אֵלַי֩ אִ֨ישׁ שׁוֹר֜וֹ וְאִ֣ישׁ שְׂיֵ֗הוּ וּשְׁחַטְתֶּ֤ם בָּזֶה֙ וַאֲכַלְתֶּ֔ם וְלֹא־תֶחֶטְא֥וּ לַיהֹוָ֖ה לֶאֱכֹ֣ל אֶל־הַדָּ֑ם וַיַּגִּ֨שׁוּ כׇל־הָעָ֜ם אִ֣ישׁ שׁוֹר֧וֹ בְיָד֛וֹ הַלַּ֖יְלָה וַיִּשְׁחֲטוּ־שָֽׁם׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ διασπάρητε ἐν τῷ λαῷ καὶ εἴπατε αὐτοῖς προσαγαγεῖν ἐνταῦθα ἕκαστος τὸν μόσχον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἕκαστος τὸ πρόβατον αὐτοῦ καὶ σφαζέτω ἐπὶ τούτου καὶ οὐ μὴ ἁμάρτητε τῷ κυρίῳ τοῦ ἐσθίειν σὺν τῷ αἵματι καὶ προσῆγεν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἕκαστος τὸ ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσφαζον ἐκεῖ
Et dixit Saul : Dispergimini in vulgus, et dicite eis ut adducat ad me unusquisque bovem suum et arietem, et occidite super istud, et vescimini, et non peccabitis Domino comedentes cum sanguine. Adduxit itaque omnis populus unusquisque bovem in manu sua usque ad noctem : et occiderunt ibi.
ወይቤ፡ ሳኦል፡ አስተኃልፉ፡ ለሕዝብ፡ ወበልዎሙ፡ ለኵሎሙ፡ አምጽኡአ፡ ኵልክሙኦ፡ ዝየአ፡ ኦልህምቲከሙአ፡ ወአባግዒክሙአ፡ ወጥብሑአ፡ በዝየአ፡ ከመ፡ ኢተአብሱአ፡ ለእግዚአብሔርአ፡ ወኢትብልዑአ፡ ምስለ፡ ደምአ ፤ ወአምጽኡ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዘረከቡ፡ ወጠብሑ፡ በህየ።
Saul said, “Disperse yourselves among the people, and tell them, ‘Every man bring me here his ox, and every man his sheep, and kill them here, and eat; and don’t sin against Yahweh in eating meat with the blood.’” All the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and killed them there.
14:35
וַיִּ֧בֶן שָׁא֛וּל מִזְבֵּ֖חַ לַיהֹוָ֑ה אֹת֣וֹ הֵחֵ֔ל לִבְנ֥וֹת מִזְבֵּ֖חַ לַיהֹוָֽה׃ {פ}
καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ Σαουλ θυσιαστήριον τῷ κυρίῳ τοῦτο ἤρξατο Σαουλ οἰκοδομῆσαι θυσιαστήριον τῷ κυρίῳ
Aedificavit autem Saul altare Domino, tuncque primum coepit aedificare altare Domino.
ወነደቀ፡ ሳኦል፡ ምሥዋዐ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወዘንተ፡ ቀዳሜ፡ ገብረ፡ ሳኦል፡ ምሥዋዐ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ዘነደቀ።
Saul built an altar to Yahweh. This was the first altar that he built to Yahweh.
14:36
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֡וּל נֵרְדָ֣ה אַחֲרֵי֩ פְלִשְׁתִּ֨ים׀לַ֜יְלָה וְֽנָבֹ֥זָה בָהֶ֣ם׀ עַד־א֣וֹר הַבֹּ֗קֶר וְלֹֽא־נַשְׁאֵ֤ר בָּהֶם֙ אִ֔ישׁ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ כׇּל־הַטּ֥וֹב בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ עֲשֵׂ֑ה {ס} וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן נִקְרְבָ֥ה הֲלֹ֖ם אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ καταβῶμεν ὀπίσω τῶν ἀλλοφύλων τὴν νύκτα καὶ διαρπάσωμεν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἕως διαφαύσῃ ἡ ἡμέρα καὶ μὴ ὑπολίπωμεν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἄνδρα καὶ εἶπαν πᾶν τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐνώπιόν σου ποίει καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἱερεύς προσέλθωμεν ἐνταῦθα πρὸς τὸν θεόν
Et dixit Saul : Irruamus super Philisthaeos nocte, et vastemus eos usque dum illucescat mane, nec relinquamus ex eis virum. Dixitque populus : Omne quod bonum videtur in oculis tuis, fac. Et ait sacerdos : Accedamus huc ad Deum.
ወይቤ፡ ሳኦል፡ ንረድ፡ ንትልዎሙ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ፡ ሌሊተ፡ ንበርብሮሙ፡ እስከ፡ ይጸብሕ፡ ብሔር፡ ወኢናትርፍ፡ እምኔሆሙ፡ ወኢአሐደ፡ ብእሴ፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ኵሎ፡ ዘይኤድመከ፡ ግበር፡ ወይቤ፡ ካህን፡ ንሖር፡ ኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እምዝየ።
Saul said, “Let’s go down after the Philistines by night, and take plunder among them until the morning light. Let’s not leave a man of them.” They said, “Do whatever seems good to you.” Then the priest said, “Let’s draw near here to God.”
14:37
וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל שָׁאוּל֙ בֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים הַֽאֵרֵד֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים הֲתִתְּנֵ֖ם בְּיַ֣ד יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְלֹ֥א עָנָ֖הוּ בַּיּ֥וֹם הַהֽוּא׃
καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν Σαουλ τὸν θεόν εἰ καταβῶ ὀπίσω τῶν ἀλλοφύλων εἰ παραδώσεις αὐτοὺς εἰς χεῖρας Ισραηλ καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ
Et consuluit Saul Dominum : Num persequar Philisthiim ? si trades eos in manus Israël ? Et non respondit ei in die illa.
ወተስእሎ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤ፡ እረድኑ፡ ወእትልዎሙ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ፡ እመ፡ ታገብኦሙ፡ ውስተ፡ እዴሆሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወኢያውሥኦ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ።
Saul asked counsel of God: “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But he didn’t answer him that day.
14:38
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֔וּל גֹּ֣שֽׁוּ הֲלֹ֔ם כֹּ֖ל פִּנּ֣וֹת הָעָ֑ם וּדְע֣וּ וּרְא֔וּ בַּמָּ֗ה הָ֥יְתָ֛ה הַחַטָּ֥את הַזֹּ֖את הַיּֽוֹם׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ προσαγάγετε ἐνταῦθα πάσας τὰς γωνίας τοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ γνῶτε καὶ ἴδετε ἐν τίνι γέγονεν ἡ ἁμαρτία αὕτη σήμερον
Dixitque Saul : Applicate huc universos angulos populi : et scitote, et videte per quem acciderit peccatum hoc hodie.
ወይቤ፡ ሳኦል፡ አምጽኡ፡ ዝየ፡ ኵሎ፡ መኣዝኒሆሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወርእዪ፡ ወአእምሩ፡ በበይነ፡ መኑ፡ ኮነ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ኦበሳ፡ ዮም።
Saul said, “Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people, and know and see in whom this sin has been today.
14:39
כִּ֣י חַי־יְהֹוָ֗ה הַמּוֹשִׁ֙יעַ֙ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּ֧י אִם־יֶשְׁנ֛וֹ בְּיוֹנָתָ֥ן בְּנִ֖י כִּ֣י מ֣וֹת יָמ֑וּת וְאֵ֥ין עֹנֵ֖הוּ מִכׇּל־הָעָֽם׃
ὅτι ζῇ κύριος ὁ σώσας τὸν Ισραηλ ὅτι ἐὰν ἀποκριθῇ κατὰ Ιωναθαν τοῦ υἱοῦ μου θανάτῳ ἀποθανεῖται καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἀποκρινόμενος ἐκ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ
Vivit Dominus salvator Israël, quia si per Jonathan filium meum factum est, absque retractione morietur. Ad quod nullus contradixit ei de omni populo.
እስመ፡ ሕያው፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለእመ፡ ተረክበ፡ ላዕለ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወልድየ፡ ከመ፡ ይመውት ፤ ወአልቦ፡ ዘተሠጥዎ፡ እምውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ።
For as Yahweh lives, who saves Israel, though it is in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die.” But there was not a man among all the people who answered him.
14:40
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אַתֶּם֙ תִּֽהְיוּ֙ לְעֵ֣בֶר אֶחָ֔ד וַֽאֲנִי֙ וְיוֹנָתָ֣ן בְּנִ֔י נִהְיֶ֖ה לְעֵ֣בֶר אֶחָ֑ד וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ הָעָם֙ אֶל־שָׁא֔וּל הַטּ֥וֹב בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ עֲשֵֽׂה׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν παντὶ Ισραηλ ὑμεῖς ἔσεσθε εἰς δουλείαν καὶ ἐγὼ καὶ Ιωναθαν ὁ υἱός μου ἐσόμεθα εἰς δουλείαν καὶ εἶπεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Σαουλ τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐνώπιόν σου ποίει
Et ait ad universum Israël : Separamini vos in partem unam, et ego cum Jonatha filio meo ero in parte altera. Responditque populus ad Saul : Quod bonum videtur in oculis tuis, fac.
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ለኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ አንትሙኒ፡ ኵልክሙ፡ አግብርተ፡ ትከውኑ፡ ወአነሂ፡ ወዮናታንሂ፡ ንከውን፡ አግብርተ፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ግበር፡ ዘከመ፡ ይኤድመከ።
Then he said to all Israel, “You be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side.” The people said to Saul, “Do what seems good to you.”
14:41
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֗וּל אֶל־יְהֹוָ֛ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל הָ֣בָה תָמִ֑ים וַיִּלָּכֵ֧ד יוֹנָתָ֛ן וְשָׁא֖וּל וְהָעָ֥ם יָצָֽאוּ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ κύριε ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ τί ὅτι οὐκ ἀπεκρίθης τῷ δούλῳ σου σήμερον εἰ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἢ ἐν Ιωναθαν τῷ υἱῷ μου ἡ ἀδικία κύριε ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ δὸς δήλους καὶ ἐὰν τάδε εἴπῃς ἐν τῷ λαῷ σου Ισραηλ δὸς δὴ ὁσιότητα καὶ κληροῦται Ιωναθαν καὶ Σαουλ καὶ ὁ λαὸς ἐξῆλθεν
Et dixit Saul ad Dominum Deum Israël : Domine Deus Israël, da indicium : quid est quod non responderis servo tuo hodie ? si in me, aut in Jonatha filio meo, est iniquitas haec, da ostensionem : aut si haec iniquitas est in populo tuo, da sanctitatem. Et deprehensus est Jonathas et Saul : populus autem exivit.
ወይቤ፡ ሳኦል፡ እግዚኦ፡ አምላከ፡ እስራኤል፡ በዐይነ፡ ምንት፡ ኢያውሣእኮ፡ ለገብርከ፡ ዮም፡ እመኒ፡ በእንቲአየ፡ ወእመኒ፡ በእንተ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወልድየ፡ ዛቲ፡ አበሳ፡ ንግር፡ ወለእመ፡ ከመዝ፡ ትቤ፡ ሀቦ፡ ለገብርከ፡ እስራኤል፡ ጽድቆ ፤ ወበጽሐ፡ ላዕለ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወላዕለ፡ ሳኦል፡ ወወፅአ፡ ሕዝብ።
Therefore Saul said to Yahweh, the God of Israel, “Show the right.” Jonathan and Saul were chosen, but the people escaped.
14:42
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֔וּל הַפִּ֕ילוּ בֵּינִ֕י וּבֵ֖ין יוֹנָתָ֣ן בְּנִ֑י וַיִּלָּכֵ֖ד יוֹנָתָֽן׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ βάλετε ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Ιωναθαν τοῦ υἱοῦ μου ὃν ἂν κατακληρώσηται κύριος ἀποθανέτω καὶ εἶπεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Σαουλ οὐκ ἔστιν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο καὶ κατεκράτησεν Σαουλ τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ βάλλουσιν ἀνὰ μέσον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Ιωναθαν τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ κατακληροῦται Ιωναθαν
Et ait Saul : Mittite sortem inter me et inter Jonathan filium meum. Et captus est Jonathas.
ወይቤ፡ ሳኦል፡ አስተዓፅዉነ፡ ማእከሌየ፡ ወማእከለ፡ ዮናታን ፤ ወዘላዕሌሁ፡ አብጽሐ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ይመውት ፤ ወይቤልዎ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ኢኮነ፡ ከመዝ፡ ነገር፡ ወአበዮሙ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለሕዝብ፡ ወአስተዓፅዉ፡ ማእከሌሁ፡ ወማእከለ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወልዱ፡ ወበጽሐ፡ ዕፃ፡ ላዕለ፡ ዮናታን።
Saul said, “Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son.” Jonathan was selected.
14:43
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שָׁאוּל֙ אֶל־י֣וֹנָתָ֔ן הַגִּ֥ידָה לִּ֖י מֶ֣ה עָשִׂ֑יתָה וַיַּגֶּד־ל֣וֹ יוֹנָתָ֗ן וַיֹּ֩אמֶר֩ טָעֹ֨ם טָעַ֜מְתִּי בִּקְצֵ֨ה הַמַּטֶּ֧ה אֲשֶׁר־בְּיָדִ֛י מְעַ֥ט דְּבַ֖שׁ הִנְנִ֥י אָמֽוּת׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ πρὸς Ιωναθαν ἀπάγγειλόν μοι τί πεποίηκας καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτῷ Ιωναθαν καὶ εἶπεν γευσάμενος ἐγευσάμην ἐν ἄκρῳ τῷ σκήπτρῳ τῷ ἐν τῇ χειρί μου βραχὺ μέλι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποθνῄσκω
Dixit autem Saul ad Jonathan : Indica mihi quid feceris. Et indicavit ei Jonathas, et ait : Gustans gustavi in summitate virgae quae erat in manu mea, paululum mellis, et ecce ego morior.
ወይቤሎ፡ ሳኦል፡ ለዮናታን፡ ንግረኒ፡ ምንተ፡ ገበርከ፡ ወነገሮ፡ ዮናታን፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ጥዒመ፡ ጥዕምኩ፡ በከተማ፡ በትርየ፡ እንተ፡ ውስተ፡ እዴየ፡ ሕቀ፡ መዓረ፡ ወናሁ፡ አነ፡ እመውት።
Then Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done!” Jonathan told him, and said, “I certainly did taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in my hand; and behold, I must die.”
14:44
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֔וּל כֹּה־יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְכֹ֣ה יוֹסִ֑ף כִּי־מ֥וֹת תָּמ֖וּת יוֹנָתָֽן׃
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Σαουλ τάδε ποιήσαι μοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ τάδε προσθείη ὅτι θανάτῳ ἀποθανῇ σήμερον
Et ait Saul : Haec faciat mihi Deus, et haec addat, quia morte morieris, Jonatha.
ወይቤሎ፡ ሳኦል፡ ከመዝ፡ ለይረስየኒ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ከመ፡ ሞተ፡ ትመውት፡ ዮም።
Saul said, “God do so and more also; for you shall surely die, Jonathan.”
14:45
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הָעָ֜ם אֶל־שָׁא֗וּל הֲֽיוֹנָתָ֤ן׀יָמוּת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָ֠שָׂ֠ה הַיְשׁוּעָ֨ה הַגְּדוֹלָ֣ה הַזֹּאת֮ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל֒ חָלִ֗ילָה חַי־יְהֹוָה֙ אִם־יִפֹּ֞ל מִשַּׂעֲרַ֤ת רֹאשׁוֹ֙ אַ֔רְצָה כִּֽי־עִם־אֱלֹהִ֥ים עָשָׂ֖ה הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וַיִּפְדּ֥וּ הָעָ֛ם אֶת־יוֹנָתָ֖ן וְלֹא־מֵֽת׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Σαουλ εἰ σήμερον θανατωθήσεται ὁ ποιήσας τὴν σωτηρίαν τὴν μεγάλην ταύτην ἐν Ισραηλ ζῇ κύριος εἰ πεσεῖται τῆς τριχὸς τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ὅτι ὁ λαὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ἐποίησεν τὴν ἡμέραν ταύτην καὶ προσηύξατο ὁ λαὸς περὶ Ιωναθαν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ οὐκ ἀπέθανεν
Dixitque populus ad Saul : Ergone Jonathas morietur, qui fecit salutem hanc magnam in Israël ? hoc nefas est : vivit Dominus, si ceciderit capillus de capite ejus in terram, quia cum Deo operatus est hodie. Liberavit ergo populus Jonathan, ut non moreretur.
ወይቤልዎ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ዮምኑ፡ ይመውት፡ ዘገብራ፡ ለዛቲ፡ ሕይወት፡ ዐባይ፡ ላዕለ፡ እስራኤል ፤ ሕያው፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ከመ፡ ኢይወድቅ፡ እምነ፡ ሥዕርተ፡ ርእሱ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ እስመ፡ ሕዝበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ገብራ፡ ለዛቲ፡ ኀጢአት ፤ ወጸለዩ፡ ሕዝብ፡ በእንተ፡ ዮናታን፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ ወኢቀተልዎ።
The people said to Saul, “Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? Far from it! As Yahweh lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground, for he has worked with God today!” So the people rescued Jonathan, so he didn’t die.
14:46
וַיַּ֣עַל שָׁא֔וּל מֵאַחֲרֵ֖י פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים הָלְכ֥וּ לִמְקוֹמָֽם׃
καὶ ἀνέβη Σαουλ ἀπὸ ὄπισθεν τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι ἀπῆλθον εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτῶν
Recessitque Saul, nec persecutus est Philisthiim : porro Philisthiim abierunt in loca sua.
ወዐርገ፡ ሳኦል፡ እምኀበ፡ ተለዎሙ፡ ለኢሎፍሊ፡ ወኢሎፍሊኒ፡ አተዉ፡ ውስተ፡ በሓውርቲሆሙ።
Then Saul went up from following the Philistines; and the Philistines went to their own place.
14:47
וְשָׁא֛וּל לָכַ֥ד הַמְּלוּכָ֖ה עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּלָּ֣חֶם סָבִ֣יב׀בְּֽכׇל־אֹיְבָ֡יו בְּמוֹאָ֣ב׀ וּבִבְנֵֽי־עַמּ֨וֹן וּבֶאֱד֜וֹם וּבְמַלְכֵ֤י צוֹבָה֙ וּבַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וּבְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־יִפְנֶ֖ה יַרְשִֽׁיעַ׃
καὶ Σαουλ κατακληροῦται ἔργον ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπολέμει κύκλῳ πάντας τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν Μωαβ καὶ εἰς τοὺς υἱοὺς Αμμων καὶ εἰς τοὺς υἱοὺς Εδωμ καὶ εἰς τὸν Βαιθεωρ καὶ εἰς βασιλέα Σουβα καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους οὗ ἂν ἐστράφη ἐσῴζετο
Et Saul, confirmato regno super Israël, pugnabat per circuitum adversum omnes inimicos ejus, contra Moab, et filios Ammon, et Edom, et reges Soba, et Philisthaeos : et quocumque se verterat, superabat.
ወቆመ፡ ሳኦል፡ ንጉሠ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወወሀበሙ፡ ግብሮሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ ወይፀብኦሙ፡ ለኵሎሙ፡ ፀሮሙ፡ እለ፡ ዐውዶሙ፡ እለ፡ ውስተ፡ ሞአብ፡ ወለደቂቀ፡ ዐሞን፡ ወለደቂቀ፡ ኤዶም፡ ወለሰብአ፡ ቤዖር፡ ወለነገሥተ፡ ሱባ፡ ወለኢሎፍሊ፡ ወኀበ፡ ሖረ፡ ይመውእ።
Now when Saul had taken the kingdom over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side: against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines. Wherever he turned himself, he defeated them.
14:48
וַיַּ֣עַשׂ חַ֔יִל וַיַּ֖ךְ אֶת־עֲמָלֵ֑ק וַיַּצֵּ֥ל אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִיַּ֥ד שֹׁסֵֽהוּ׃ {פ}
καὶ ἐποίησεν δύναμιν καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὸν Αμαληκ καὶ ἐξείλατο τὸν Ισραηλ ἐκ χειρὸς τῶν καταπατούντων αὐτόν
Congregatoque exercitu, percussit Amalec, et eruit Israël de manu vastatorum ejus.
ወገብረ፡ ኀይለ፡ ዘአጥናን፡ ወቀተሎሙ፡ ለዐማሌቅ፡ ወአድኀኖሙ፡ ለእስራኤል፡ እምእዴሆሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ይከይድዎሙ።
He did valiantly and struck the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of those who plundered them.
14:49
וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י שָׁא֔וּל יוֹנָתָ֥ן וְיִשְׁוִ֖י וּמַלְכִּישׁ֑וּעַ וְשֵׁם֙ שְׁתֵּ֣י בְנֹתָ֔יו שֵׁ֤ם הַבְּכִירָה֙ מֵרַ֔ב וְשֵׁ֥ם הַקְּטַנָּ֖ה מִיכַֽל׃
καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ Σαουλ Ιωναθαν καὶ Ιεσσιου καὶ Μελχισα καὶ ὀνόματα τῶν δύο θυγατέρων αὐτοῦ ὄνομα τῇ πρωτοτόκῳ Μεροβ καὶ ὄνομα τῇ δευτέρᾳ Μελχολ
Fuerunt autem filii Saul, Jonathas, et Jessui, et Melchisua : et nomina duarum filiarum ejus, nomen primogenitae Merob, et nomen minoris Michol.
ወእሉ፡ እሙንቱ፡ ደቂቁ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ዮናታን፡ ወአሳሔል፡ ወሜልኪስ ፤ ወአስማተ፡ አዋልዲሁ፡ ስማ፡ ለበኵሩ፡ ሜሮብ፡ ወስማ፡ ለካልእታ፡ ሜልኮል።
Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, Ishvi, and Malchishua; and the names of his two daughters were these: the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal.
14:50
וְשֵׁם֙ אֵ֣שֶׁת שָׁא֔וּל אֲחִינֹ֖עַם בַּת־אֲחִימָ֑עַץ וְשֵׁ֤ם שַׂר־צְבָאוֹ֙ אֲבִינֵ֔ר בֶּן־נֵ֖ר דּ֥וֹד שָׁאֽוּל׃
καὶ ὄνομα τῇ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ Αχινοομ θυγάτηρ Αχιμαας καὶ ὄνομα τῷ ἀρχιστρατήγῳ Αβεννηρ υἱὸς Νηρ υἱοῦ οἰκείου Σαουλ
Et nomen uxoris Saul Achinoam filia Achimaas : et nomen principis militiae ejus Abner filius Ner, patruelis Saul.
ወስማ፡ ለብእሲቱ፡ አኪናሆም፡ ወለተ፡ አቢናአስ ፤ ወስሙ፡ ለመልአከ፡ ኀይሉ፡ አቤኔር፡ ወልደ፡ ኔር፡ ወልደ፡ ሰብአ፡ ቤቱ፡ ለሳኦል።
The name of Saul’s wife was Ahinoam the daughter of Ahimaaz. The name of the captain of his army was Abner the son of Ner, Saul’s uncle.
14:51
וְקִ֧ישׁ אֲבִֽי־שָׁא֛וּל וְנֵ֥ר אֲבִֽי־אַבְנֵ֖ר בֶּן־אֲבִיאֵֽל׃ {ס}
καὶ Κις πατὴρ Σαουλ καὶ Νηρ πατὴρ Αβεννηρ υἱὸς Ιαμιν υἱοῦ Αβιηλ
Porro Cis fuit pater Saul, et Ner pater Abner, filius Abiel.
ወቂስ፡ አቡሀ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ወኔር፡ አቡሁ፡ ለአበኔር፡ ወልደ፡ አቢን፡ ወልደ፡ አብያር።
Kish was the father of Saul, and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.
14:52
וַתְּהִ֤י הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ חֲזָקָ֣ה עַל־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֣י שָׁא֑וּל וְרָאָ֨ה שָׁא֜וּל כׇּל־אִ֤ישׁ גִּבּוֹר֙ וְכׇל־בֶּן־חַ֔יִל וַיַּאַסְפֵ֖הוּ אֵלָֽיו׃ {פ}
καὶ ἦν ὁ πόλεμος κραταιὸς ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας Σαουλ καὶ ἰδὼν Σαουλ πάντα ἄνδρα δυνατὸν καὶ πάντα ἄνδρα υἱὸν δυνάμεως καὶ συνήγαγεν αὐτοὺς πρὸς αὐτόν
Erat autem bellum potens adversum Philisthaeos omnibus diebus Saul. Nam quemcumque viderat Saul virum fortem, et aptum ad praelium, sociabat eum sibi.
ወጸንዐ፡ ቀትል፡ ላዕለ፡ ኢሎፍሊ፡ በኵሉ፡ መዋዕሊሁ፡ ለሳኦል፡ ወዘርእየ፡ ሳኦል፡ ኵሎ፡ ብእሴ፡ ጽኑበ፡ ወኵሎ፡ ዕደወ፡ ደቂቀ፡ ኀይል፡ ያስተጋብእ፡ ኀቤሁ።
There was severe war against the Philistines all the days of Saul; and when Saul saw any mighty man or any valiant man, he took him into his service.
