31:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים נִלְחָמִ֣ים בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיָּנֻ֜סוּ אַנְשֵׁ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מִפְּנֵ֣י פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וַיִּפְּל֥וּ חֲלָלִ֖ים בְּהַ֥ר הַגִּלְבֹּֽעַ ׃
καὶ οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι ἐπολέμουν ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἔφυγον οἱ ἄνδρες Ισραηλ ἐκ προσώπου τῶν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ πίπτουσιν τραυματίαι ἐν τῷ ὄρει τῷ Γελβουε
Philisthiim autem pugnabant adversum Israël : et fugerunt viri Israël ante faciem Philisthiim , et ceciderunt interfecti in monte Gelboë .
ወእምዝ ፡ እምድኅረ ፡ ሞተ ፡ ሳኦል ፡ ወዳዊትኒ ፡ አተወ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ ቅተሎሙ ፡ ለዐማሌቅ ፡ ወነበረ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሴቄላቅ ፡ ሰኑየ ፡ መዋዕለ ።
Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa.
31:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּדְבְּק֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים אֶת ־שָׁא֖וּל וְאֶת ־בָּנָ֑יו וַיַּכּ֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים אֶת ־יְהוֹנָתָ֧ן וְאֶת ־אֲבִינָדָ֛ב וְאֶת ־מַלְכִּישׁ֖וּעַ בְּנֵ֥י שָׁאֽוּל ׃
καὶ συνάπτουσιν ἀλλόφυλοι τῷ Σαουλ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ τύπτουσιν ἀλλόφυλοι τὸν Ιωναθαν καὶ τὸν Αμιναδαβ καὶ τὸν Μελχισα υἱοὺς Σαουλ
Irrueruntque Philisthiim in Saul et in filios ejus , et percusserunt Jonathan , et Abinadab , et Melchisua filios Saul :
ወረከብዎሙ ፡ ኢሎፍሊ ፡ ለሳኦል ፡ ወለደቁ ፡ ወቅተልዎሙ ፡ ኢሎፍሊ ፡ ለዮናታን ፡ ወለአሚናዳብ ፡ ወለሜልኪስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ሳኦል ።
The Philistines overtook Saul and his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
31:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַתִּכְבַּ֤ד הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ אֶל ־שָׁא֔וּל וַיִּמְצָאֻ֥הוּ הַמּוֹרִ֖ים אֲנָשִׁ֣ים בַּקָּ֑שֶׁת וַיָּ֥חֶל מְאֹ֖ד מֵהַמּוֹרִֽים ׃
καὶ βαρύνεται ὁ πόλεμος ἐπὶ Σαουλ καὶ εὑρίσκουσιν αὐτὸν οἱ ἀκοντισταί ἄνδρες τοξόται καὶ ἐτραυματίσθη εἰς τὰ ὑποχόνδρια
totumque pondus praelii versum est in Saul , et consecuti sunt eum viri sagittarii , et vulneratus est vehementer a sagittariis .
ወጸንዐ ፡ ቀትል ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሳኦል ፡ ወረከብዎ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ቀንጥስጤ ፡ ዕደው ፡ ነዳፍያን ፡ ወነደፍዎ ፡ ጸኮ ።
The battle went hard against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was greatly distressed by reason of the archers.
31:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁאוּל֩ לְנֹשֵׂ֨א כֵלָ֜יו שְׁלֹ֥ף חַרְבְּךָ֣ ׀ וְדׇקְרֵ֣נִי בָ֗הּ פֶּן ־יָ֠ב֠וֹאוּ הָעֲרֵלִ֨ים הָאֵ֤לֶּה וּדְקָרֻ֙נִי֙ וְהִתְעַלְּלוּ ־בִ֔י וְלֹ֤א אָבָה֙ נֹשֵׂ֣א כֵלָ֔יו כִּ֥י יָרֵ֖א מְאֹ֑ד וַיִּקַּ֤ח שָׁאוּל֙ אֶת ־הַחֶ֔רֶב וַיִּפֹּ֖ל עָלֶֽיהָ ׃
καὶ εἶπεν Σαουλ πρὸς τὸν αἴροντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ σπάσαι τὴν ῥομφαίαν σου καὶ ἀποκέντησόν με ἐν αὐτῇ μὴ ἔλθωσιν οἱ ἀπερίτμητοι οὗτοι καὶ ἀποκεντήσωσίν με καὶ ἐμπαίξωσίν μοι καὶ οὐκ ἐβούλετο ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἐφοβήθη σφόδρα καὶ ἔλαβεν Σαουλ τὴν ῥομφαίαν καὶ ἐπέπεσεν ἐπ’ αὐτήν
Dixitque Saul ad armigerum suum : Evagina gladium tuum , et percute me : ne forte veniant incircumcisi isti , et interficiant me , illudentes mihi . Et noluit armiger ejus : fuerat enim nimio terrore perterritus . Arripuit itaque Saul gladium , et irruit super eum .
ወይቤሎ ፡ ሳኦል ፡ ለዘይጸውር ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ሐቅሉ ፡ ምላሕ ፡ ሰይፈከ ፡ ወርግዘኒ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይምጽኡ ፡ እሉ ፡ ቈላፋን ፡ ወኢይርግዙኒ ፡ ወኢይሳለቁ ፡ ላዕሌየ ፡ ወአበዮ ፡ ዝክቱ ፡ ዘይጸውር ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ሐቅሉ ፡ እስመ ፡ ፈርሀ ፡ ጥቅ ፡ ወነሥአ ፡ ሳኦል ፡ ሰይፎ ፡ ወተረግዘ ፡ ለሊሁ ፡ ቦቱ ።
Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through and abuse me!” But his armor bearer would not, for he was terrified. Therefore Saul took his sword and fell on it.
31:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּ֥רְא נֹשֵֽׂא ־כֵלָ֖יו כִּ֣י מֵ֣ת שָׁא֑וּל וַיִּפֹּ֥ל גַּם ־ה֛וּא עַל ־חַרְבּ֖וֹ וַיָּ֥מׇת עִמּֽוֹ ׃
καὶ εἶδεν ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ὅτι τέθνηκεν Σαουλ καὶ ἐπέπεσεν καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπὶ τὴν ῥομφαίαν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπέθανεν μετ’ αὐτοῦ
Quod cum vidisset armiger ejus , videlicet quod mortuus esset Saul , irruit etiam ipse super gladium suum , et mortuus est cum eo .
ወሶበ ፡ ርእየ ፡ ዝኩ ፡ ዘይጸውር ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ሐቅሉ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሞተ ፡ ሳኦል ፡ ተረግዘ ፡ ውእቱኒ ፡ በሰይፉ ፡ ለሊሁ ፡ ወሞተ ፡ ምስሌሁ ።
When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died with him.
31:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּ֣מׇת שָׁא֡וּל וּשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת בָּנָיו֩ וְנֹשֵׂ֨א כֵלָ֜יו גַּ֧ם כׇּל ־אֲנָשָׁ֛יו בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא יַחְדָּֽו ׃
καὶ ἀπέθανεν Σαουλ καὶ οἱ τρεῖς υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ κατὰ τὸ αὐτό
Mortuus est ergo Saul , et tres filii ejus , et armiger illius , et universi viri ejus in die illa pariter .
ጠሞተ ፡ ሳኦልኒ ፡ ወ፫ደቂቁ ፡ ወዘይጸውር ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ሐቅሉ ፡ ይእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ኅቡረ ፡ ሞቱ ።
So Saul died with his three sons, his armor bearer, and all his men that same day together.
31:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּרְא֣וּ אַנְשֵֽׁי ־יִ֠שְׂרָאֵ֠ל אֲשֶׁר ־בְּעֵ֨בֶר הָעֵ֜מֶק וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן כִּי ־נָ֙סוּ֙ אַנְשֵׁ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְכִי ־מֵ֖תוּ שָׁא֣וּל וּבָנָ֑יו וַיַּעַזְב֤וּ אֶת ־הֶעָרִים֙ וַיָּנֻ֔סוּ וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וַיֵּשְׁב֖וּ בָּהֶֽן ׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶδον οἱ ἄνδρες Ισραηλ οἱ ἐν τῷ πέραν τῆς κοιλάδος καὶ οἱ ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου ὅτι ἔφυγον οἱ ἄνδρες Ισραηλ καὶ ὅτι τέθνηκεν Σαουλ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ καταλείπουσιν τὰς πόλεις αὐτῶν καὶ φεύγουσιν καὶ ἔρχονται οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι καὶ κατοικοῦσιν ἐν αὐταῖς
Videntes autem viri Israël qui erant trans vallem et trans Jordanem , quod fugissent viri Israëlitae , et quod mortuus esset Saul et filii ejus , reliquerunt civitates suas , et fugerunt : veneruntque Philisthiim , et habitaverunt ibi .
ወርእዩ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ እለ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ማዕዶተ ፡ ቈላ ፡ ወእለ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ማሰዶተ ፡ ዮርዳኖስ ፡ ከመ ፡ ጐዩ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወከመ ፡ ሞተ ፡ ሳኦል ፡ ወደቂቁ ፡ ወኀደጉ ፡ አህጉሪሆሙ ፡ ወጐዩ ፡ ወመጽኤ ፡ ኢሎፍሊ ፡ ወነበሩ ፡ ውስቴቱ ።
When the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley, and those who were beyond the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned the cities and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.
31:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַֽיְהִי֙ מִֽמׇּחֳרָ֔ת וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים לְפַשֵּׁ֖ט אֶת ־הַחֲלָלִ֑ים וַֽיִּמְצְא֤וּ אֶת ־שָׁאוּל֙ וְאֶת ־שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת בָּנָ֔יו נֹפְלִ֖ים בְּהַ֥ר הַגִּלְבֹּֽעַ ׃
καὶ ἐγενήθη τῇ ἐπαύριον καὶ ἔρχονται οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι ἐκδιδύσκειν τοὺς νεκροὺς καὶ εὑρίσκουσιν τὸν Σαουλ καὶ τοὺς τρεῖς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ πεπτωκότας ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη Γελβουε
Facta autem die altera , venerunt Philisthiim ut spoliarent interfectos , et invenerunt Saul et tres filios ejus jacentes in monte Gelboë .
ወእምዝ ፡ በሳኒታ ፡ መጽኡ ፡ [ኢሎፍሊ ፡] ከመ ፡ ይስልብዎሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ሞቱ ፡ ወረከብዎሙ ፡ ለሳኦል ፡ ወለ [፫ ]ደቂቁ ፡ በኀበ ፡ ወድቁ ፡ በደብረ ፡ ጌላቡሄ ።
On the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
31:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַֽיִּכְרְתוּ֙ אֶת ־רֹאשׁ֔וֹ וַיַּפְשִׁ֖טוּ אֶת ־כֵּלָ֑יו וַיְשַׁלְּח֨וּ בְאֶֽרֶץ ־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֜ים סָבִ֗יב לְבַשֵּׂ֛ר בֵּ֥ית עֲצַבֵּיהֶ֖ם וְאֶת ־הָעָֽם ׃
καὶ ἀποστρέφουσιν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐξέδυσαν τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀποστέλλουσιν αὐτὰ εἰς γῆν ἀλλοφύλων κύκλῳ εὐαγγελίζοντες τοῖς εἰδώλοις αὐτῶν καὶ τῷ λαῷ αὐτῶν
Et praeciderunt caput Saul , et spoliaverunt eum armis : et miserunt in terram Philisthinorum per circuitum , ut annuntiaretur in templo idolorum , et in populis .
ወገፍትዕዎሙ ፡ ወሰለብዎሙ ፡ ወፈነዉ ፡ ይዜንዉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኢሎፍሊ ፡ ዘዐውዶሙ ፡ ወይዜንዉ ፡ ለአማልክቲሆሙ ፡ ወለአሕዛቢሆሙ ።
They cut off his head, stripped off his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines all around, to carry the news to the house of their idols and to the people.
31:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּשִׂ֙ימוּ֙ אֶת ־כֵּלָ֔יו בֵּ֖ית עַשְׁתָּר֑וֹת וְאֶת ־גְּוִיָּתוֹ֙ תָּֽקְע֔וּ בְּחוֹמַ֖ת בֵּ֥ית שָֽׁן ׃
καὶ ἀνέθηκαν τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ Ἀσταρτεῖον καὶ τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ κατέπηξαν ἐν τῷ τείχει Βαιθσαν
Et posuerunt arma ejus in templo Astaroth , corpus vero ejus suspenderunt in muro Bethsan .
ወአንበሩ ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ሐቅሉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አስጥርጥዮን ፡ ወበድኖሙሰ ፡ ሰቀሉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አረፍተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ሶም ።
They put his armor in the house of the Ashtaroth, and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth Shan.
31:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ אֵלָ֔יו יֹשְׁבֵ֖י יָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֑ד אֵ֛ת אֲשֶׁר ־עָשׂ֥וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים לְשָׁאֽוּל ׃
καὶ ἀκούουσιν οἱ κατοικοῦντες Ιαβις τῆς Γαλααδίτιδος ἃ ἐποίησαν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι τῷ Σαουλ
Quod cum audissent habitatores Jabes Galaad , quaecumque fecerant Philisthiim Saul ,
ወሶበ ፡ ስምሁ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኢያቢስ ፡ ዘገለዓድ ፡ ዘገብሩ ፡ ኢሎፍሊ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ሳኦል ፤
When the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul,
31:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיָּק֜וּמוּ כׇּל ־אִ֣ישׁ חַ֘יִל֮ וַיֵּלְכ֣וּ כׇל ־הַלַּ֒יְלָה֒ וַיִּקְח֞וּ אֶת ־גְּוִיַּ֣ת שָׁא֗וּל וְאֵת֙ גְּוִיֹּ֣ת בָּנָ֔יו מֵחוֹמַ֖ת בֵּ֣ית שָׁ֑ן וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ יָבֵ֔שָׁה וַיִּשְׂרְפ֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם שָֽׁם ׃
καὶ ἀνέστησαν πᾶς ἀνὴρ δυνάμεως καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὅλην τὴν νύκτα καὶ ἔλαβον τὸ σῶμα Σαουλ καὶ τὸ σῶμα Ιωναθαν τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τείχους Βαιθσαν καὶ φέρουσιν αὐτοὺς εἰς Ιαβις καὶ κατακαίουσιν αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ
surrexerunt omnes viri fortissimi , et ambulaverunt tota nocte , et tulerunt cadaver Saul , et cadavera filiorum ejus , de muro Bethsan : veneruntque Jabes Galaad , et combusserunt ea ibi :
ተንሥኡ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ ኀይል ፡ ወሖሩ ፡ ኵላ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ ወነሥኡ ፡ በድኖ ፡ ለሳኦል ፡ ወበድኖ ፡ ለዮናታን ፡ ወልዱ ፡ እምነ ፡ አረፍተ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ሶም ፡ ወአምጽእዎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኢያቢስ ፡ ወአውዐይዎሙ ፡ በህየ ።
all the valiant men arose, went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth Shan; and they came to Jabesh and burned them there.
31:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּקְחוּ֙ אֶת ־עַצְמֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ תַחַת ־הָאֶ֖שֶׁל בְּיָבֵ֑שָׁה וַיָּצֻ֖מוּ שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִֽים ׃ {פ}
καὶ λαμβάνουσιν τὰ ὀστᾶ αὐτῶν καὶ θάπτουσιν ὑπὸ τὴν ἄρουραν τὴν Ιαβις καὶ νηστεύουσιν ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας
et tulerunt ossa eorum , et sepelierunt in nemore Jabes , et jejunaverunt septem diebus .
ወነሥኡ ፡ አዕፅምቲሆሙ ፡ ወቅበርዎሙ ፡ መትሕት ፡ አሩራን ፡ እንተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኢያቢስ ፡ ወጾሙ ፡ ሰቡበ ፡ መዋዕለ ።
They took their bones and buried them under the tamarisk tree in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
