10:1
וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֖ם שְׁכֶ֑מָה כִּ֥י שְׁכֶ֛ם בָּ֥אוּ כׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְהַמְלִ֥יךְ אֹתֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἦλθεν Ροβοαμ εἰς Συχεμ ὅτι εἰς Συχεμ ἤρχετο πᾶς Ισραηλ βασιλεῦσαι αὐτόν
Profectus est autem Roboam in Sichem : illuc enim cunctus Israël convenerat ut constituerent eum regem.
ወሖረ፡ ሮብዓም፡ ኀበ፡ ሴኬም፡ እስመ፡ ህየ፡ መጽኡ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ እስራኤል፡ ከመ፡ ያንግሥዎ።
Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
10:2
וַיְהִ֞י כִּשְׁמֹ֨עַ יָרׇבְעָ֤ם בֶּן־נְבָט֙ וְה֣וּא בְמִצְרַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּרַ֔ח מִפְּנֵ֖י שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיָּ֥שׇׁב יָרׇבְעָ֖ם מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν Ιεροβοαμ υἱὸς Ναβατ καὶ αὐτὸς ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ὡς ἔφυγεν ἀπὸ προσώπου Σαλωμων τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ κατῴκησεν Ιεροβοαμ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Ιεροβοαμ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου
Quod cum audisset Jeroboam filius Nabat, qui erat in Aegypto (fugerat quippe illuc ante Salomonem), statim reversus est.
ወኮነ፡ ሶበ፡ ሰምዐ፡ ኢዮርብዓም፡ ወልደ፡ ናባጥ፡ እንዘ፡ ውእቱ፡ ሀለወ፡ ብሔረ፡ ግብፅ፡ እምአመ፡ ተኃጥአ፡ እምገጸ፡ ሰሎሞን፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወተመይጠ፡ ኢዮርብዓም፡ እምብሔረ፡ ግብፅ።
When Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon), Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.
10:3
וַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙ וַיִּקְרְאוּ־ל֔וֹ וַיָּבֹ֥א יָרׇבְעָ֖ם וְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַֽיְדַבְּר֔וּ אֶל־רְחַבְעָ֖ם לֵאמֹֽר׃
καὶ ἀπέστειλαν καὶ ἐκάλεσαν αὐτόν καὶ ἦλθεν Ιεροβοαμ καὶ πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία Ισραηλ πρὸς Ροβοαμ λέγοντες
Vocaveruntque eum, et venit cum universo Israël : et locuti sunt ad Roboam, dicentes :
ወለአኩ፡ ወጸውዕዎ፡ ወመጽአ፡ ኢዮርብዓም፡ ወኵሉ፡ ማኅበረ፡ እስራኤል፡ ኀበ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ሮብዓም።
They sent and called him; and Jeroboam and all Israel came, and they spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
10:4
אָבִ֖יךָ הִקְשָׁ֣ה אֶת־עֻלֵּ֑נוּ וְעַתָּ֡ה הָקֵל֩ מֵעֲבוֹדַ֨ת אָבִ֜יךָ הַקָּשָׁ֗ה וּמֵעֻלּ֧וֹ הַכָּבֵ֛ד אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן עָלֵ֖ינוּ וְנַעַבְדֶֽךָּ׃
ὁ πατήρ σου ἐσκλήρυνεν τὸν ζυγὸν ἡμῶν καὶ νῦν ἄφες ἀπὸ τῆς δουλείας τοῦ πατρός σου τῆς σκληρᾶς καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ ζυγοῦ αὐτοῦ τοῦ βαρέος οὗ ἔδωκεν ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς καὶ δουλεύσομέν σοι
Pater tuus durissimo jugo nos pressit : tu leviora impera patre tuo, qui nobis imposuit gravem servitutem, et paululum de onere subleva, ut serviamus tibi.
ወተናገሩ፡ እንዘ፡ ይብሉ፡ አቡከ፡ አክበደ፡ ኵነኔ፡ ላዕሌነ፡ ወአንተኒ፡ ዮም፡ ኅድግ፡ እምክበደ፡ ቅኔ፡ አቡከ፡ መሪር፡ ወእምኔሁ፡ ጽኑዕ፡ ዘአንበረ፡ በላዕሌነ፡ አቅልል፡ ወንትቀነይ፡ ለከ።
“Your father made our yoke grievous. Now therefore make the grievous service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, lighter, and we will serve you.”
10:5
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם ע֛וֹד שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת יָמִ֖ים וְשׁ֣וּבוּ אֵלָ֑י וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ הָעָֽם׃ {ס}
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς πορεύεσθε ἕως τριῶν ἡμερῶν καὶ ἔρχεσθε πρός με καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ὁ λαός
Qui ait : Post tres dies revertimini ad me. Cumque abiisset populus,
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ሑሩ፡ እስከ፡ ሠሉስ፡ መዋዕል፡ ወተመየጡ፡ ኀቤየ፡ ወሖሩ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ሕዝበ፡ እስራኤል።
He said to them, “Come again to me after three days.” So the people departed.
10:6
וַיִּוָּעַ֞ץ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֗ם אֶת־הַזְּקֵנִים֙ אֲשֶׁר־הָי֣וּ עֹמְדִ֗ים לִפְנֵי֙ שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה אָבִ֔יו בִּהְיֹת֥וֹ חַ֖י לֵאמֹ֑ר אֵ֚יךְ אַתֶּ֣ם נֽוֹעָצִ֔ים לְהָשִׁ֥יב לָעָם־הַזֶּ֖ה דָּבָֽר׃
καὶ συνήγαγεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους τοὺς ἑστηκότας ἐναντίον Σαλωμων τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ζῆν αὐτὸν λέγων πῶς ὑμεῖς βουλεύεσθε τοῦ ἀποκριθῆναι τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ λόγον
iniit consilium cum senibus qui steterant coram patre ejus Salomone dum adhuc viveret, dicens : Quid datis consilii ut respondeam populo ?
ወዓደመ፡ ሮብዓም፡ ንጉሥ፡ መላሕቅተ፡ ኵሎ፡ እለ፡ ዘልፈ፡ ይቀውሙ፡ ቅድሜሁ፡ ለሰሎሞን፡ አቡሁ፡ አመ፡ ሕያው፡ ውእቱ፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ እፎ፡ አንትሙ፡ ትፈቅዱ፡ ወእፎ፡ ያስተርእዩክሙ፡ ከመ፡ አውሥኦሙ፡ ለእሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ቃለ።
King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me about how to answer these people?”
10:7
וַיְדַבְּר֨וּ אֵלָ֜יו לֵאמֹ֗ר אִם־תִּהְיֶ֨ה לְט֜וֹב לְהָעָ֤ם הַזֶּה֙ וּרְצִיתָ֔ם וְדִבַּרְתָּ֥ אֲלֵהֶ֖ם דְּבָרִ֣ים טוֹבִ֑ים וְהָי֥וּ לְךָ֛ עֲבָדִ֖ים כׇּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃
καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες ἐὰν ἐν τῇ σήμερον γένῃ εἰς ἀγαθὸν τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ καὶ εὐδοκήσῃς καὶ λαλήσῃς αὐτοῖς λόγους ἀγαθούς καὶ ἔσονταί σοι παῖδες πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας
Qui dixerunt ei : Si placueris populo huic, et leniveris eos verbis clementibus, servient tibi omni tempore.
ወአውሥእዎ፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ እመሰ፡ በዛቲ፡ ዕለት፡ ኄረ፡ ኮንከ፡ ለዝንቱ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ወተናገርኮሙ፡ ቃለ፡ ሠናየ፡ ይከውኑከ፡ አግብርተ፡ በኵሉ፡ መዋዕል።
They spoke to him, saying, “If you are kind to these people, please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”
10:8
וַֽיַּעֲזֹ֛ב אֶת־עֲצַ֥ת הַזְּקֵנִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְעָצֻ֑הוּ וַיִּוָּעַ֗ץ אֶת־הַיְלָדִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר גָּדְל֣וּ אִתּ֔וֹ הָעֹמְדִ֖ים לְפָנָֽיו׃
καὶ κατέλιπεν τὴν βουλὴν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων οἳ συνεβουλεύσαντο αὐτῷ καὶ συνεβουλεύσατο μετὰ τῶν παιδαρίων τῶν συνεκτραφέντων μετ’ αὐτοῦ τῶν ἑστηκότων ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ
At ille reliquit consilium senum, et cum juvenibus tractare coepit, qui cum eo nutriti fuerant, et erant in comitatu illius.
ወኃደገ፡ ሮብዓም፡ ምክሮሙ፡ ለመላህቅተ፡ ዘአምከርዎ፡ ወተማከረ፡ ምስለ፡ ደቂቅ፡ እለ፡ ተሐፅኑ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ወእለ፡ ይቀውሙ፡ ቅድሜሁ።
But he abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.
10:9
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם מָ֚ה אַתֶּ֣ם נֽוֹעָצִ֔ים וְנָשִׁ֥יב דָּבָ֖ר אֶת־הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבְּר֤וּ אֵלַי֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הָקֵל֙ מִן־הָעֹ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן אָבִ֖יךָ עָלֵֽינוּ׃
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς τί ὑμεῖς βουλεύεσθε καὶ ἀποκριθήσομαι λόγον τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ οἳ ἐλάλησαν πρός με λέγοντες ἄνες ἀπὸ τοῦ ζυγοῦ οὗ ἔδωκεν ὁ πατήρ σου ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς
Dixitque ad eos : Quid vobis videtur ? vel respondere quid debeo populo huic, qui dixit mihi : Subleva jugum quod imposuit nobis pater tuus ?
ወይቤሎሙ፡ ምንትኑ፡ ታምክሩኒ፡ አንትሙ፡ ከመ፡ አውሥኦሙ፡ ቃለ፡ ለእሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዘተናገሩኒ፡ እንዘ፡ ይብሉ፡ አቅልል፡ ለነ፡ እምቅኔ፡ ዘአንበረ፡ አቡከ፡ በላዕሌነ።
He said to them, “What counsel do you give, that we may give an answer to these people, who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Make the yoke that your father put on us lighter’?”
10:10
וַיְדַבְּר֣וּ אִתּ֗וֹ הַיְלָדִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר גָּדְל֣וּ אִתּוֹ֮ לֵאמֹר֒ כֹּה־תֹאמַ֡ר לָעָם֩ אֲשֶׁר־דִּבְּר֨וּ אֵלֶ֜יךָ לֵאמֹ֗ר אָבִ֙יךָ֙ הִכְבִּ֣יד אֶת־עֻלֵּ֔נוּ וְאַתָּ֖ה הָקֵ֣ל מֵעָלֵ֑ינוּ כֹּ֚ה תֹּאמַ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם קָֽטׇנִּ֥י עָבָ֖ה מִמׇּתְנֵ֥י אָבִֽי׃
καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτῷ τὰ παιδάρια τὰ ἐκτραφέντα μετ’ αὐτοῦ οὕτως λαλήσεις τῷ λαῷ τῷ λαλήσαντι πρὸς σὲ λέγων ὁ πατήρ σου ἐβάρυνεν τὸν ζυγὸν ἡμῶν καὶ σὺ ἄφες ἀφ’ ἡμῶν οὕτως ἐρεῖς ὁ μικρὸς δάκτυλός μου παχύτερος τῆς ὀσφύος τοῦ πατρός μου
At illi responderunt ut juvenes, et nutriti cum eo in deliciis, atque dixerunt : Sic loqueris populo qui dixit tibi : Pater tuus aggravavit jugum nostrum, tu subleva : et sic respondebis ei : Minimus digitus meus grossior est lumbis patris mei.
ወአውሥእዎ፡ ደቂቅ፡ እለ፡ ተሐፅኑ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ከመዝ፡ በሎሙ፡ ለእሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዘተናገሩከ፡ እንዘ፡ ይብሉ፡ አቡከ፡ አክበደ፡ ላዕሌነ፡ ቅኔ፡ ወአንተኒ፡ አስሕተነ፡ ወከመዝ፡ አውሥኦሙ፡ ወበሎሙ፡ ነአስ፡ አጽባዕትየ፡ ትገዝፍ፡ ወትጸንዕ፡ እምሐቌ፡ አቡየ።
The young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, “Thus you shall tell the people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter on us;’ thus you shall say to them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.
10:11
וְעַתָּ֗ה אָבִי֙ הֶעְמִ֤יס עֲלֵיכֶם֙ עֹ֣ל כָּבֵ֔ד וַאֲנִ֖י אֹסִ֣יף עַֽל־עֻלְּכֶ֑ם אָבִ֗י יִסַּ֤ר אֶתְכֶם֙ בַּשּׁוֹטִ֔ים וַאֲנִ֖י בָּעַקְרַבִּֽים׃ {פ}
καὶ νῦν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμᾶς ζυγῷ βαρεῖ καὶ ἐγὼ προσθήσω ἐπὶ τὸν ζυγὸν ὑμῶν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμᾶς ἐν μάστιγξιν καὶ ἐγὼ παιδεύσω ὑμᾶς ἐν σκορπίοις
Pater meus imposuit vobis grave jugum, et ego majus pondus apponam ; pater meus cecidit vos flagellis, ego vero caedam vos scorpionibus.
ወይእዜኒ፡ አቡየ፡ አክበደ፡ አርዑተ፡ ግብር፡ ላዕሌክሙ፡ ወአነኒ፡ እዌስክ፡ ላዕለ፡ ቅኔክሙ፡ አቡየ፡ ገሠፀክሙ፡ በመቅሠፍት፡ ወአነኒ፡ እጌሥፀክሙ፡ በአቃርብት።
Now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.’”
10:12
וַיָּבֹ֨א יָרׇבְעָ֧ם וְכׇל־הָעָ֛ם אֶל־רְחַבְעָ֖ם בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁלִשִׁ֑י כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֤ר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר שׁ֥וּבוּ אֵלַ֖י בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁלִשִֽׁי׃
καὶ ἦλθεν Ιεροβοαμ καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Ροβοαμ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ ὡς ἐλάλησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς λέγων ἐπιστρέψατε πρός με τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ
Venit ergo Jeroboam et universus populus ad Roboam die tertio, sicut praeceperat eis.
ወመጽአ፡ ኢዮርብዓም፡ ወኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ኀበ፡ ሮብዓም፡ ንጉሥ፡ በሣልስት፡ ዕለት፡ በከመ፡ ዓደሞሙ፡ ንጉሥ፡ እንዘ፡ ይብል፡ ግብኡ፡ ኀቤየ፡ በሣልስት።
So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king asked, saying, “Come to me again the third day.”
10:13
וַיַּעֲנֵ֥ם הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ קָשָׁ֑ה וַֽיַּעֲזֹב֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֔ם אֵ֖ת עֲצַ֥ת הַזְּקֵנִֽים׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ βασιλεὺς σκληρά καὶ ἐγκατέλιπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ τὴν βουλὴν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων
Responditque rex dura, derelicto consilio seniorum :
ወአውሥኦሙ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ቃላተ፡ ዕፁባተ፡ ወኃደገ፡ ሮብዓም፡ ንጉሥ፡ ምክሮሙ፡ ለመላሕቅት።
The king answered them roughly; and King Rehoboam abandoned the counsel of the old men,
10:14
וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם כַּעֲצַ֤ת הַיְלָדִים֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אַכְבִּיד֙ אֶֽת־עֻלְּכֶ֔ם וַאֲנִ֖י אֹסִ֣יף עָלָ֑יו אָבִ֗י יִסַּ֤ר אֶתְכֶם֙ בַּשּׁוֹטִ֔ים וַאֲנִ֖י בָּעַקְרַבִּֽים׃
καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς κατὰ τὴν βουλὴν τῶν νεωτέρων λέγων ὁ πατήρ μου ἐβάρυνεν τὸν ζυγὸν ὑμῶν καὶ ἐγὼ προσθήσω ἐπ’ αὐτόν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμᾶς ἐν μάστιγξιν καὶ ἐγὼ παιδεύσω ὑμᾶς ἐν σκορπίοις
locutusque est juxta juvenum voluntatem : Pater meus grave vobis imposuit jugum, quod ego gravius faciam ; pater meus cecidit vos flagellis, ego vero caedam vos scorpionibus.
ወአውሥኦሙ፡ ለሕዝብ፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ በከመ፡ ምክረ፡ ወራዙት፡ እንዘ፡ ይብል፡ አቡየ፡ አክበደ፡ ላዕሌክሙ፡ ቅኔ፡ ወአነኒ፡ እዌስክ፡ ላዕሌሁ፡ አቡየ፡ ቀሠፈክሙ፡ በመቅሠፍት፡ ወአነኒ፡ እጌሥፀክሙ፡ በአቃርብት።
and spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”
10:15
וְלֹא־שָׁמַ֥ע הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֶל־הָעָ֑ם כִּֽי־הָיְתָ֤ה נְסִבָּה֙ מֵעִ֣ם הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים לְמַ֩עַן֩ הָקִ֨ים יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶת־דְּבָר֗וֹ אֲשֶׁ֤ר דִּבֶּר֙ בְּיַד֙ אֲחִיָּ֣הוּ הַשִּׁלוֹנִ֔י אֶל־יָרׇבְעָ֖ם בֶּן־נְבָֽט׃
καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῦ λαοῦ ὅτι ἦν μεταστροφὴ παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ λέγων ἀνέστησεν κύριος τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ ὃν ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ Αχια τοῦ Σηλωνίτου περὶ Ιεροβοαμ υἱοῦ Ναβατ
Et non acquievit populi precibus : erat enim voluntatis Dei ut compleretur sermo ejus quem locutus fuerat per manum Ahiae Silonitis ad Jeroboam filium Nabat.
ወኢሰምዐ፡ ሮብዓም፡ ቃላተ፡ ሕዝብ፡ እስመ፡ ኮነት፡ ዕልወት፡ እምኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ቃሎ፡ ዘነበበ፡ በእዴሁ፡ ለአኪያ፡ ሴሎናዊ፡ በእንተ፡ ኢዮርብዓም፡ ወልደ፡ ናባጥ፡ ወበእንተ፡ ኵሉ፡ እስራኤል።
So the king didn’t listen to the people; for it was brought about by God, that Yahweh might establish his word, which he spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
10:16
וְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל כִּ֠י לֹא־שָׁמַ֣ע הַמֶּ֘לֶךְ֮ לָהֶם֒ וַיָּשִׁ֣יבוּ הָעָ֣ם אֶת־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ׀לֵאמֹ֡ר מַה־לָּ֩נוּ֩ חֵ֨לֶק בְּדָוִ֜יד וְלֹא־נַחֲלָ֣ה בְּבֶן־יִשַׁ֗י אִ֤ישׁ לְאֹהָלֶ֙יךָ֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עַתָּ֕ה רְאֵ֥ה בֵיתְךָ֖ דָּוִ֑יד וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְאֹהָלָֽיו׃ {ס}
καὶ παντὸς Ισραηλ ὅτι οὐκ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς αὐτῶν καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ λαὸς πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα λέγων τίς ἡμῖν μερὶς ἐν Δαυιδ καὶ κληρονομία ἐν υἱῷ Ιεσσαι εἰς τὰ σκηνώματά σου Ισραηλ νῦν βλέπε τὸν οἶκόν σου Δαυιδ καὶ ἐπορεύθη πᾶς Ισραηλ εἰς τὰ σκηνώματα αὐτοῦ
Populus autem universus rege duriora dicente, sic locutus est ad eum : Non est nobis pars in David, neque haereditas in filio Isai. Revertere in tabernacula tua, Israël ; tu autem pasce domum tuam David. Et abiit Israël in tabernacula sua.
እስመ፡ ኢሰምዖሙ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወአውሥኡ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ወይቤልዎ፡ ለንጉሥ፡ ምንትኑ፡ መክፈልት፡ ምስለ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወምንትኑ፡ ርስትነ፡ ምስለ፡ ወልደ፡ ዕሤይ፡ እትዉ፡ እስራኤል፡ ውስተ፡ ማኅደሪክሙ፡ ወይእዜኒ፡ ርኢ፡ ቤተከ፡ ዳዊት፡ ወሖሩ፡ ኵሉ፡ እስራኤል፡ በበማኅደሪሆሙ።
When all Israel saw that the king didn’t listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion do we have in David? We don’t have an inheritance in the son of Jesse! Every man to your tents, Israel! Now see to your own house, David.” So all Israel departed to their tents.
10:17
וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הַיֹּשְׁבִ֖ים בְּעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם רְחַבְעָֽם׃
καὶ ἄνδρες Ισραηλ οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἐπ’ αὐτῶν Ροβοαμ
Super filios autem Israël qui habitabant in civitatibus Juda, regnavit Roboam.
ወእደወ፡ እስራኤልኒ፡ እለ፡ የኃድሩ፡ ውስተ፡ አህጉረ፡ ይሁዳ፡ አንገሡ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ ሮብዓምሃ።
But as for the children of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
10:18
וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֗ם אֶת־הֲדֹרָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־הַמַּ֔ס וַיִּרְגְּמוּ־ב֧וֹ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶ֖בֶן וַיָּמֹ֑ת {ס} וְהַמֶּ֣לֶךְ רְחַבְעָ֗ם הִתְאַמֵּץ֙ לַעֲל֣וֹת בַּמֶּרְכָּבָ֔ה לָנ֖וּס יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ {ס}
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ τὸν Αδωνιραμ τὸν ἐπὶ τοῦ φόρου καὶ ἐλιθοβόλησαν αὐτὸν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ λίθοις καὶ ἀπέθανεν καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ ἔσπευσεν τοῦ ἀναβῆναι εἰς τὸ ἅρμα τοῦ φυγεῖν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ
Misitque rex Roboam Aduram, qui praeerat tributis, et lapidaverunt eum filii Israël, et mortuus est : porro rex Roboam currum festinavit ascendere, et fugit in Jerusalem.
ወፈነዎ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ሮብዓም፡ ለአዶኒራም፡ ርኡሰ፡ ግብር፡ ወወገርዎ፡ ደቂቀ፡ እስራኤል፡ በእብን፡ ወሞተ፡ ወሮብዓም፡ ንጉሥ፡ ጐጒዐ፡ ከመ፡ ይዕርግ፡ ውስተ፡ ሠረገላ፡ ከመ፡ ይጒየይ፡ ኢየሩሳሌም።
Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the men subject to forced labor; and the children of Israel stoned him to death with stones. King Rehoboam hurried to get himself up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
10:19
וַיִּפְשְׁע֤וּ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּבֵ֣ית דָּוִ֔יד עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
καὶ ἠθέτησεν Ισραηλ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Δαυιδ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης
Recessitque Israël a domo David, usque ad diem hanc.
ወዓለውዎ፡ ሕዝበ፡ እስራኤል፡ ለቤተ፡ ዳዊት፡ እስከ፡ ዛቲ፡ ዕለት።
So Israel rebelled against David’s house to this day.
