8:1
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י קַח־לְךָ֖ גִּלָּי֣וֹן גָּד֑וֹל וּכְתֹ֤ב עָלָיו֙ בְּחֶ֣רֶט אֱנ֔וֹשׁ לְמַהֵ֥ר שָׁלָ֖ל חָ֥שׁ בַּֽז׃
καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρός με λαβὲ σεαυτῷ τόμον καινοῦ μεγάλου καὶ γράψον εἰς αὐτὸν γραφίδι ἀνθρώπου τοῦ ὀξέως προνομὴν ποιῆσαι σκύλων πάρεστιν γάρ
Et dixit Dominus ad me : Sume tibi librum grandem, et scribe in eo stylo hominis : Velociter spolia detrahe, cito praedare.
ወይቤለኒ፡ እግዚአብሔር፤ ንሣእ፡ ለከ፡ ጦማረ፡ ክርታስ፡ ዓቢየ፡ ወሐዲሰ፡ ወጸሐፍ፡ ውስቴቱ፡ መጽሐፈ፡ በብረዓ፡ እጓለ፡ እመሕያው፡ ዘይብል፤ ፍጡነ፡ ፄውው፡ ወማህርክ።
Yahweh said to me, “Take a large tablet, and write on it with a man’s pen, ‘For Maher Shalal Hash Baz’;
8:2
וְאָעִ֣ידָה לִּ֔י עֵדִ֖ים נֶאֱמָנִ֑ים אֵ֚ת אוּרִיָּ֣ה הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְאֶת־זְכַרְיָ֖הוּ בֶּ֥ן יְבֶרֶכְיָֽהוּ׃
καὶ μάρτυράς μοι ποίησον πιστοὺς ἀνθρώπους τὸν Ουριαν καὶ τὸν Ζαχαριαν υἱὸν Βαραχιου
Et adhibui mihi testes fideles, Uriam sacerdotem, et Zachariam, filium Barachiae :
ወአስምዕ፡ ሊተ፡ ሰብአ፡ ምእመናነ፡ አርያሃ፡ ወዘካርያስሃ፡ ወልደ፡ በራክዩ።
and I will take for myself faithful witnesses to testify: Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”
8:3
וָֽאֶקְרַב֙ אֶל־הַנְּבִיאָ֔ה וַתַּ֖הַר וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֑ן {ס} וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י קְרָ֣א שְׁמ֔וֹ מַהֵ֥ר שָׁלָ֖ל חָ֥שׁ בַּֽז׃
καὶ προσῆλθον πρὸς τὴν προφῆτιν καὶ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔλαβεν καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱόν καὶ εἶπεν κύριός μοι κάλεσον τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ταχέως σκύλευσον ὀξέως προνόμευσον
et accessi ad prophetissam, et concepit, et peperit filium. Et dixit Dominus ad me : Voca nomen ejus : Accelera spolia detrahere ; Festina praedari :
ወሖርኩ፡ በበ፡ ብእሲት፡ ነቢይት፡ ወፀንሰት፡ ወወለደት፡ ወልደ።
I went to the prophetess, and she conceived, and bore a son. Then Yahweh said to me, “Call his name ‘Maher Shalal Hash Baz.’
8:4
כִּ֗י בְּטֶ֙רֶם֙ יֵדַ֣ע הַנַּ֔עַר קְרֹ֖א אָבִ֣י וְאִמִּ֑י יִשָּׂ֣א׀ אֶת־חֵ֣יל דַּמֶּ֗שֶׂק וְאֵת֙ שְׁלַ֣ל שֹׁמְר֔וֹן לִפְנֵ֖י מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃ {ס}
διότι πρὶν ἢ γνῶναι τὸ παιδίον καλεῖν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα λήμψεται δύναμιν Δαμασκοῦ καὶ τὰ σκῦλα Σαμαρείας ἔναντι βασιλέως Ἀσσυρίων
quia antequam sciat puer vocare patrem suum et matrem suam, auferetur fortitudo Damasci, et spolia Samariae, coram rege Assyriorum.
እስመ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ያእምር፡ ሕፃን፡ ሰምየ፡ አቡሁ፡ ወእሙ፣፡ ይነሥእ፡ ኃይለ፡ ደማስቆ፡ ወምህርካ፡ ሰማርያ፡ በቅድመ፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ።
For before the child knows how to say, ‘My father’ and ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria will be carried away by the king of Assyria.”
8:5
וַיֹּ֣סֶף יְהֹוָ֔ה דַּבֵּ֥ר אֵלַ֛י ע֖וֹד לֵאמֹֽר׃
καὶ προσέθετο κύριος λαλῆσαί μοι ἔτι
Et adjecit Dominus loqui ad me adhuc, dicens :
ወይቤለኒ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዳግመ፡ ዓዲሂ።
Yahweh spoke to me yet again, saying,
8:6
יַ֗עַן כִּ֤י מָאַס֙ הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה אֵ֚ת מֵ֣י הַשִּׁלֹ֔חַ הַהֹלְכִ֖ים לְאַ֑ט וּמְשׂ֥וֹשׂ אֶת־רְצִ֖ין וּבֶן־רְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃
διὰ τὸ μὴ βούλεσθαι τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ Σιλωαμ τὸ πορευόμενον ἡσυχῇ ἀλλὰ βούλεσθαι ἔχειν τὸν Ραασσων καὶ τὸν υἱὸν Ρομελιου βασιλέα ἐφ’ ὑμῶν
Pro eo quod abjecit populus iste aquas Siloë, quae vadunt cum silentio, et assumpsit magis Rasin, et filium Romeliae :
እስመ፡ ኢፈቀዱ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ማየ፡ ሰሊሆም፡ ዘየሐውር፡ ጽሚተ፡ ወይፈቅዱ፡ ይርከብዎ፡ ለረአሶን፡ ወልደ፡ ሮሜልዩ፡ ያንግሡ፡ ለክሙ።
“Because this people has refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son;
8:7
וְלָכֵ֡ן הִנֵּ֣ה אֲדֹנָי֩ מַעֲלֶ֨ה עֲלֵיהֶ֜ם אֶת־מֵ֣י הַנָּהָ֗ר הָעֲצוּמִים֙ וְהָ֣רַבִּ֔ים אֶת־מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּׁ֖וּר וְאֶת־כׇּל־כְּבוֹד֑וֹ וְעָלָה֙ עַל־כׇּל־אֲפִיקָ֔יו וְהָלַ֖ךְ עַל־כׇּל־גְּדוֹתָֽיו׃
διὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἀνάγει κύριος ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ ποταμοῦ τὸ ἰσχυρὸν καὶ τὸ πολύ τὸν βασιλέα τῶν Ἀσσυρίων καὶ τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναβήσεται ἐπὶ πᾶσαν φάραγγα ὑμῶν καὶ περιπατήσει ἐπὶ πᾶν τεῖχος ὑμῶν
propter hoc ecce Dominus adducet super eos aquas fluminis fortes et multas, regem Assyriorum, et omnem gloriam ejus, et ascendet super omnes rivos ejus, et fluet super universas ripas ejus ;
በእንተ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ናሁ፡ ያመጽእ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ላዕሌክሙ፡ ማየ፡ ፈለግ፡ ብዙኀ፡ ወኃይለ፣፡ ንጉሠ፡ ፋርስ፡ በኵሉ፡ ክብሩ።
now therefore, behold, the Lord brings upon them the mighty flood waters of the River: the king of Assyria and all his glory. It will come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks.
8:8
וְחָלַ֤ף בִּֽיהוּדָה֙ שָׁטַ֣ף וְעָבַ֔ר עַד־צַוָּ֖אר יַגִּ֑יעַ וְהָיָה֙ מֻטּ֣וֹת כְּנָפָ֔יו מְלֹ֥א רֹחַב־אַרְצְךָ֖ עִמָּ֥נוּ אֵֽל׃ {ס}
καὶ ἀφελεῖ ἀπὸ τῆς Ιουδαίας ἄνθρωπον ὃς δυνήσεται κεφαλὴν ἆραι ἢ δυνατὸν συντελέσασθαί τι καὶ ἔσται ἡ παρεμβολὴ αὐτοῦ ὥστε πληρῶσαι τὸ πλάτος τῆς χώρας σου μεθ’ ἡμῶν ὁ θεός
et ibit per Judam, inundans, et transiens : usque ad collum veniet. Et erit extensio alarum ejus implens latitudinem terrae tuae, o Emmanuel !
ወያጠፍእ፡ እምይሁዳ፡ ብእሴ፡ ተባዕተ፡ ወያኀልቆሙ፡ ለኃያላን።
It will sweep onward into Judah. It will overflow and pass through. It will reach even to the neck. The stretching out of its wings will fill the width of your land, O Immanuel.
8:9
רֹ֤עוּ עַמִּים֙ וָחֹ֔תּוּ וְהַֽאֲזִ֔ינוּ כֹּ֖ל מֶרְחַקֵּי־אָ֑רֶץ הִתְאַזְּר֣וּ וָחֹ֔תּוּ הִֽתְאַזְּר֖וּ וָחֹֽתּוּ׃
γνῶτε ἔθνη καὶ ἡττᾶσθε ἐπακούσατε ἕως ἐσχάτου τῆς γῆς ἰσχυκότες ἡττᾶσθε ἐὰν γὰρ πάλιν ἰσχύσητε πάλιν ἡττηθήσεσθε
Congregamini, populi, et vincimini ; et audite, universae procul terrae : confortamini, et vincimini ; accingite vos, et vincimini.
አእምሩ፡ አሕዛብ፡ ወተመውኡ፤ ስምዑ፡ እስከ፡ አጽናፈ፡ ምድር፡ ወተመውኡ፡ ኃያላን፤ ወእመሂ፡ ካዕበ፡ ጸናዕክሙ፡ ካዕበ፡ ትትመውኡ።
Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Listen, all you from far countries: dress for battle, and be shattered! Dress for battle, and be shattered!
8:10
עֻ֥צוּ עֵצָ֖ה וְתֻפָ֑ר דַּבְּר֤וּ דָבָר֙ וְלֹ֣א יָק֔וּם כִּ֥י עִמָּ֖נוּ אֵֽל׃ {ס}
καὶ ἣν ἂν βουλεύσησθε βουλήν διασκεδάσει κύριος καὶ λόγον ὃν ἐὰν λαλήσητε οὐ μὴ ἐμμείνῃ ὑμῖν ὅτι μεθ’ ἡμῶν κύριος ὁ θεός
Inite consilium, et dissipabitur ; loquimini verbum, et non fiet : quia nobiscum Deus.
ወእመሂ፡ መከርክሙ፡ ምክረ፡ ይመይጥ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ምክረክሙ፤ ወነገርኒ፡ ዘተናገርክሙ፡ ኢይከውነክሙ፡ እስመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ምስሌነ።
Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand, for God is with us.”
8:11
כִּי֩ כֹ֨ה אָמַ֧ר יְהֹוָ֛ה אֵלַ֖י כְּחֶזְקַ֣ת הַיָּ֑ד וְיִסְּרֵ֕נִי מִלֶּ֛כֶת בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ הָֽעָם־הַזֶּ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃
οὕτως λέγει κύριος τῇ ἰσχυρᾷ χειρὶ ἀπειθοῦσιν τῇ πορείᾳ τῆς ὁδοῦ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου λέγοντες
Haec enim ait Dominus ad me : Sicut in manu forti erudivit me, ne irem in via populi hujus, dicens :
ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ጸባኦት፡ እንዘ፡ ይጌሥጸኒ፡ በእዴሁ፡ ጽንዕት፡ ወይዛለፈኒ፡ በቃለ፡ አፉሁ፡ እንዘ፡ ይብል፤ ኢትሖር፡ በፍኖተ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ሕዝብ።
For Yahweh spoke this to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,
8:12
לֹא־תֹאמְר֣וּן קֶ֔שֶׁר לְכֹ֧ל אֲשֶׁר־יֹאמַ֛ר הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה קָ֑שֶׁר וְאֶת־מוֹרָא֥וֹ לֹא־תִֽירְא֖וּ וְלֹ֥א תַעֲרִֽיצוּ׃
μήποτε εἴπητε σκληρόν πᾶν γάρ ὃ ἐὰν εἴπῃ ὁ λαὸς οὗτος σκληρόν ἐστιν τὸν δὲ φόβον αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ φοβηθῆτε οὐδὲ μὴ ταραχθῆτε
Non dicatis : Conjuratio ; omnia enim quae loquitur populus iste, conjuratio est : et timorem ejus ne timeatis, neque paveatis.
ኢትበሉ፡ ዕጹበ።
“Don’t call a conspiracy all that this people call a conspiracy. Don’t fear their threats or be terrorized.
8:13
אֶת־יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת אֹת֣וֹ תַקְדִּ֑ישׁוּ וְה֥וּא מוֹרַאֲכֶ֖ם וְה֥וּא מַעֲרִֽצְכֶֽם׃
κύριον αὐτὸν ἁγιάσατε καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται σου φόβος
Dominum exercituum ipsum sanctificate ; ipse pavor vester, et ipse terror vester :
ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ቀድስዎ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ይከውነከ፡ ግርማከ።
Yahweh of Armies is who you must respect as holy. He is the one you must fear. He is the one you must dread.
8:14
וְהָיָ֖ה לְמִקְדָּ֑שׁ וּלְאֶ֣בֶן נֶ֠גֶף וּלְצ֨וּר מִכְשׁ֜וֹל לִשְׁנֵ֨י בָתֵּ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לְפַ֣ח וּלְמוֹקֵ֔שׁ לְיוֹשֵׁ֖ב יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃
καὶ ἐὰν ἐπ’ αὐτῷ πεποιθὼς ᾖς ἔσται σοι εἰς ἁγίασμα καὶ οὐχ ὡς λίθου προσκόμματι συναντήσεσθε αὐτῷ οὐδὲ ὡς πέτρας πτώματι ὁ δὲ οἶκος Ιακωβ ἐν παγίδι καὶ ἐν κοιλάσματι ἐγκαθήμενοι ἐν Ιερουσαλημ
et erit vobis in sanctificationem ; in lapidem autem offensionis, et in petram scandali, duabus domibus Israël ; in laqueum et in ruinam habitantibus Jerusalem.
ወእመሂ፡ ተወከልከ፡ ቦቱ፡ ይቄድሰከ፡ ወኢያዐቅፈከ፡ ከመ፡ እብነ፡ ዕቅፍት፡ ወኢከመ፡ ኰኵሕ፡ ዘያድኅፅ።
He will be a sanctuary, but for both houses of Israel, he will be a stumbling stone and a rock that makes them fall. For the people of Jerusalem, he will be a trap and a snare.
8:15
וְכָ֥שְׁלוּ בָ֖ם רַבִּ֑ים וְנָפְל֣וּ וְנִשְׁבָּ֔רוּ וְנוֹקְשׁ֖וּ וְנִלְכָּֽדוּ׃ {פ}
διὰ τοῦτο ἀδυνατήσουσιν ἐν αὐτοῖς πολλοὶ καὶ πεσοῦνται καὶ συντριβήσονται καὶ ἐγγιοῦσιν καὶ ἁλώσονται ἄνθρωποι ἐν ἀσφαλείᾳ ὄντες
Et offendent ex eis plurimi, et cadent, et conterentur, et irretientur, et capientur.
ወበበይነ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ይደክሙ፡ ብዙኃን፡ እምውስቴቶሙ፡ ወይወድቁ፡ ወይትቀጠቀጡ፡ ወይቀርቡ፡ ወያሠግሩ፡ ሰብአ።
Many will stumble over it, fall, be broken, be snared, and be captured.”
8:16
צ֖וֹר תְּעוּדָ֑ה חֲת֥וֹם תּוֹרָ֖ה בְּלִמֻּדָֽי׃
τότε φανεροὶ ἔσονται οἱ σφραγιζόμενοι τὸν νόμον τοῦ μὴ μαθεῖν
Liga testimonium, signa legem in discipulis meis.
ወያጸንዑ፡ ይእተ፡ አሚረ፡ እሙንቱ፡ እለ፡ የኀትምዋ፡ ለኦሪት፡ ከመ፡ ኢይትመሀርዋ።
Wrap up the covenant. Seal the law among my disciples.
8:17
וְחִכִּ֙יתִי֙ לַיהֹוָ֔ה הַמַּסְתִּ֥יר פָּנָ֖יו מִבֵּ֣ית יַעֲקֹ֑ב וְקִוֵּ֖יתִי־לֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐρεῖ μενῶ τὸν θεὸν τὸν ἀποστρέψαντα τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴκου Ιακωβ καὶ πεποιθὼς ἔσομαι ἐπ’ αὐτῷ
Et exspectabo Dominum qui abscondit faciem suam a domo Jacob, et praestolabor eum.
ወይብል፤ እጸንሖ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ዘሜጠ፡ ገጾ፡ እምቤተ፡ ያዕቆብ፡ ወእትዌከል፡ ቦቱ።
I will wait for Yahweh, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
8:18
הִנֵּ֣ה אָנֹכִ֗י וְהַיְלָדִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתַן־לִ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה לְאֹת֥וֹת וּלְמוֹפְתִ֖ים בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מֵעִם֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת הַשֹּׁכֵ֖ן בְּהַ֥ר צִיּֽוֹן׃ {ס}
ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ καὶ τὰ παιδία ἅ μοι ἔδωκεν ὁ θεός καὶ ἔσται εἰς σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Ισραηλ παρὰ κυρίου σαβαωθ ὃς κατοικεῖ ἐν τῷ ὄρει Σιων
Ecce ego et pueri mei quos dedit mihi Dominus in signum, et in portentum Israël a Domino exercituum, qui habitat in monte Sion :
ነየ፡ አነ፡ ወደቂቅየ፡ ዘወሀበኒ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
Behold, I and the children whom Yahweh has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from Yahweh of Armies, who dwells in Mount Zion.
8:19
וְכִֽי־יֹאמְר֣וּ אֲלֵיכֶ֗ם דִּרְשׁ֤וּ אֶל־הָֽאֹבוֹת֙ וְאֶל־הַיִּדְּעֹנִ֔ים הַֽמְצַפְצְפִ֖ים וְהַמַּהְגִּ֑ים הֲלוֹא־עַם֙ אֶל־אֱלֹהָ֣יו יִדְרֹ֔שׁ בְּעַ֥ד הַחַיִּ֖ים אֶל־הַמֵּתִֽים׃
καὶ ἐὰν εἴπωσιν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ζητήσατε τοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς φωνοῦντας καὶ τοὺς ἐγγαστριμύθους τοὺς κενολογοῦντας οἳ ἐκ τῆς κοιλίας φωνοῦσιν οὐκ ἔθνος πρὸς θεὸν αὐτοῦ τί ἐκζητοῦσιν περὶ τῶν ζώντων τοὺς νεκρούς
et cum dixerint ad vos : Quaerite a pythonibus et a divinis qui strident in incantationibus suis : numquid non populus a Deo suo requiret, pro vivis a mortuis ?
ወእመቦ፡ ዘይቤሉክሙ፤ ኅሥዎሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ይትናገሩክሙ፡ እምታሕተ፡ ምድር፡ ወለእለ፡ በፃውዕ፡ እለ፡ ይትናገሩ፡ ከንቶ፡ ወይነቡ፡ ሐሰተ፡ እምልቦሙ፤ አኮኑ፡ አሕዛብ፡ ይስእሉ፡ ኀበ፡ ጣዖቶሙ፤ እለ፡ የኀሡ፡ በእንተ፡ ሕያዋን፡ እምኀበ፡ ምውታን።
When they tell you, “Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter,” shouldn’t a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
8:20
לְתוֹרָ֖ה וְלִתְעוּדָ֑ה אִם־לֹ֤א יֹֽאמְרוּ֙ כַּדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵֽין־ל֖וֹ שָֽׁחַר׃
νόμον γὰρ εἰς βοήθειαν ἔδωκεν ἵνα εἴπωσιν οὐχ ὡς τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο περὶ οὗ οὐκ ἔστιν δῶρα δοῦναι περὶ αὐτοῦ
ad legem magis et ad testimonium. Quod si non dixerint juxta verbum hoc, non erit eis matutina lux.
እስመ፡ ሕገ፡ ወሀበ፡ ለረድኤት፡ ከመ፡ ይበሉ፤ ኢኮነ፡ ከመዝ፡ ነገሩ፡ ወኢየሀቡ፡ ሐፍሠ፡ በእንቲአሁ።
Turn to the law and to the covenant! If they don’t speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.
8:21
וְעָ֥בַר בָּ֖הּ נִקְשֶׁ֣ה וְרָעֵ֑ב וְהָיָ֨ה כִֽי־יִרְעַ֜ב וְהִתְקַצַּ֗ף וְקִלֵּ֧ל בְּמַלְכּ֛וֹ וּבֵאלֹהָ֖יו וּפָנָ֥ה לְמָֽעְלָה׃
καὶ ἥξει ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς σκληρὰ λιμός καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἂν πεινάσητε λυπηθήσεσθε καὶ κακῶς ἐρεῖτε τὸν ἄρχοντα καὶ τὰ παταχρα καὶ ἀναβλέψονται εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν ἄνω
Et transibit per eam, corruet, et esuriet ; et cum esurierit, irascetur. Et maledicet regi suo, et Deo suo, et suscipiet sursum,
ወበዝ፡ ይመጽእ፡ ላዕሌክሙ፡ ረኃብ፡ ወእምከመ፡ ርኅብክሙ፡ ትቴክዙ፡ ወትነቡ፡ ሕሡመ፡ ላዕለ፡ መላእክት፡ ወላዕለ፡ መኳንንት፡ ወትኔጽሩ፡ ላዕለ፡ ውስተ፡ ሰማይ።
They will pass through it, very distressed and hungry. It will happen that when they are hungry, they will worry, and curse their king and their God. They will turn their faces upward,
8:22
וְאֶל־אֶ֖רֶץ יַבִּ֑יט וְהִנֵּ֨ה צָרָ֤ה וַֽחֲשֵׁכָה֙ מְע֣וּף צוּקָ֔ה וַאֲפֵלָ֖ה מְנֻדָּֽח׃
καὶ εἰς τὴν γῆν κάτω ἐμβλέψονται καὶ ἰδοὺ θλῖψις καὶ στενοχωρία καὶ σκότος ἀπορία στενὴ καὶ σκότος ὥστε μὴ βλέπειν
et ad terram intuebitur ; et ecce tribulatio et tenebrae, dissolutio et angustia, et caligo persequens, et non poterit avolare de angustia sua.
ወታሕተ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፤ ወትሬእዩ፡ ጽፉቀ፡ ጽልመተ፡ ወትትመነደቡ፡ ዓቢየ፡ ምንዳቤ፤ ተሐሙ፡ ወትጼነሱ፤ ይጸልመክሙ፡ ቅድሜክሙ፡ ወኢትሬእዩ፡ ወኢይትበላሕ፡ ዘተመንደበ፡ እስከ፡ አመ፡ ይበጽሕ፡ ዕድሜሁ፡ ለዝ።
then look to the earth and see distress, darkness, and the gloom of anguish. They will be driven into thick darkness.
8:23
כִּ֣י לֹ֣א מוּעָף֮ לַאֲשֶׁ֣ר מוּצָ֣ק לָהּ֒ כָּעֵ֣ת הָרִאשׁ֗וֹן הֵקַ֞ל אַ֤רְצָה זְבֻלוּן֙ וְאַ֣רְצָה נַפְתָּלִ֔י וְהָאַחֲר֖וֹן הִכְבִּ֑יד דֶּ֤רֶךְ הַיָּם֙ עֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן גְּלִ֖יל הַגּוֹיִֽם׃
καὶ οὐκ ἀπορηθήσεται ὁ ἐν στενοχωρίᾳ ὢν ἕως καιροῦ τοῦτο πρῶτον ποίει ταχὺ ποίει χώρα Ζαβουλων ἡ γῆ Νεφθαλιμ ὁδὸν θαλάσσης καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ οἱ τὴν παραλίαν κατοικοῦντες καὶ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου Γαλιλαία τῶν ἐθνῶν τὰ μέρη τῆς Ιουδαίας
