9:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ הָעָם֙ הַהֹלְכִ֣ים בַּחֹ֔שֶׁךְ רָא֖וּ א֣וֹר גָּד֑וֹל יֹֽשְׁבֵי֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ צַלְמָ֔וֶת א֖וֹר נָגַ֥הּ עֲלֵיהֶֽם ׃
ὁ λαὸς ὁ πορευόμενος ἐν σκότει ἴδετε φῶς μέγα οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν χώρᾳ καὶ σκιᾷ θανάτου φῶς λάμψει ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς
Primo tempore alleviata est terra Zabulon et terra Nephthali : et novissimo aggravata est via maris trans Jordanem Galilaeae gentium .
ዘንተ ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ ግበር ፡ ወፍጡነ ፡ ስተይ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ ዛብሎን ፡ ወምድረ ፡ ንፍታሌም ፡ ወተረፈ ፡ ጰራልዩ ፡ ወማዕዶተ ፡ ዮርዳኖስ ፡ ወገሊላ ፡ ዘአሕዛብ ።
But there shall be no more gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time, he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali; but in the latter time he has made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
9:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ הִרְבִּ֣יתָ הַגּ֔וֹי (לא ) [ל֖וֹ ] הִגְדַּ֣לְתָּ הַשִּׂמְחָ֑ה שָׂמְח֤וּ לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ כְּשִׂמְחַ֣ת בַּקָּצִ֔יר כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יָגִ֖ילוּ בְּחַלְּקָ֥ם שָׁלָֽל ׃
τὸ πλεῖστον τοῦ λαοῦ ὃ κατήγαγες ἐν εὐφροσύνῃ σου καὶ εὐφρανθήσονται ἐνώπιόν σου ὡς οἱ εὐφραινόμενοι ἐν ἀμήτῳ καὶ ὃν τρόπον οἱ διαιρούμενοι σκῦλα
Populus qui ambulabat in tenebris , vidit lucem magnam ; habitantibus in regione umbrae mortis , lux orta est eis .
ሕዝብ ፡ ዘይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጽልመት ፡ ርእዩ ፡ ብርሃነ ፡ ዓቢየ ፤ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ብሔረ ፡ ጽልመት ፡ ወጽላሎተ ፡ ሞት ፡ ብርሃን ፡ በርሀ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ።
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. The light has shined on those who lived in the land of the shadow of death.
9:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֣י ׀ אֶת ־עֹ֣ל סֻבֳּל֗וֹ וְאֵת֙ מַטֵּ֣ה שִׁכְמ֔וֹ שֵׁ֖בֶט הַנֹּגֵ֣שׂ בּ֑וֹ הַחִתֹּ֖תָ כְּי֥וֹם מִדְיָֽן ׃
διότι ἀφῄρηται ὁ ζυγὸς ὁ ἐπ’ αὐτῶν κείμενος καὶ ἡ ῥάβδος ἡ ἐπὶ τοῦ τραχήλου αὐτῶν τὴν γὰρ ῥάβδον τῶν ἀπαιτούντων διεσκέδασεν κύριος ὡς τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἐπὶ Μαδιαμ
Multiplicasti gentem , et non magnificasti laetitiam . Laetabuntur coram te , sicut qui laetantur in messe ; sicut exsultant victores capta praeda , quando dividunt spolia .
ዘይበዝኅ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ አውረድከ ፡ በትፍሥሕት ፤ ወይትኀሠዩ ፡ በቅድሜከ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ እለ ፡ ይትፌሥሑ ፡ በማእረር ፡ ወከመ ፡ እለ ፡ ይትካፈሉ ፡ በርበረ ።
You have multiplied the nation. You have increased their joy. They rejoice before you according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the plunder.
9:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּ֤י כׇל ־סְאוֹן֙ סֹאֵ֣ן בְּרַ֔עַשׁ וְשִׂמְלָ֖ה מְגוֹלָלָ֣ה בְדָמִ֑ים וְהָיְתָ֥ה לִשְׂרֵפָ֖ה מַאֲכֹ֥לֶת אֵֽשׁ ׃
ὅτι πᾶσαν στολὴν ἐπισυνηγμένην δόλῳ καὶ ἱμάτιον μετὰ καταλλαγῆς ἀποτείσουσιν καὶ θελήσουσιν εἰ ἐγενήθησαν πυρίκαυστοι
Jugum enim oneris ejus , et virgam humeri ejus , et sceptrum exactoris ejus superasti , sicut in die Madian .
እስመ ፡ ተሥዕረ ፡ አርዑቶሙ ፡ ዘንቡር ፡ ዲቤሆሙ ፡ ወበትርኒ ፡ እንተ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ክሳዶሙ ፤ እስመ ፡ ሜጠ ፡ በትረ ፡ እለ ፡ ይትፈደዩ ፡ ወዐለዎሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ያቀትዉ ፡ ከመ ፡ አመ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ ምድያም ።
For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian.
9:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּֽי ־יֶ֣לֶד יֻלַּד ־לָ֗נוּ בֵּ֚ן נִתַּן ־לָ֔נוּ וַתְּהִ֥י הַמִּשְׂרָ֖ה עַל ־שִׁכְמ֑וֹ וַיִּקְרָ֨א שְׁמ֜וֹ פֶּ֠לֶא יוֹעֵץ֙ אֵ֣ל גִּבּ֔וֹר אֲבִי ־עַ֖ד שַׂר ־שָׁלֽוֹם ׃
ὅτι παιδίον ἐγεννήθη ἡμῖν υἱὸς καὶ ἐδόθη ἡμῖν οὗ ἡ ἀρχὴ ἐγενήθη ἐπὶ τοῦ ὤμου αὐτοῦ καὶ καλεῖται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ μεγάλης βουλῆς ἄγγελος ἐγὼ γὰρ ἄξω εἰρήνην ἐπὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας εἰρήνην καὶ ὑγίειαν αὐτῷ
Quia omnis violentia praedatio cum tumultu , et vestimentum mistum sanguine , erit in combustionem , et cibus ignis .
ወአስተጋብእ ፡ ዐራዘ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ በጕሕሉት ፡ ዘተጋብአ ፡ ወተፈድየ ፡ አልባሰ ፡ በተውላጥ ፤ ወይፈቅዱ ፡ ያውዕይዎ ፡ በእሳት ።
For all the armor of the armed man in the noisy battle, and the garments rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.
9:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ (לם רבה ) [לְמַרְבֵּ֨ה ] הַמִּשְׂרָ֜ה וּלְשָׁל֣וֹם אֵֽין ־קֵ֗ץ עַל ־כִּסֵּ֤א דָוִד֙ וְעַל ־מַמְלַכְתּ֔וֹ לְהָכִ֤ין אֹתָהּ֙ וּֽלְסַעֲדָ֔הּ בְּמִשְׁפָּ֖ט וּבִצְדָקָ֑ה מֵֽעַתָּה֙ וְעַד ־עוֹלָ֔ם קִנְאַ֛ת יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת תַּעֲשֶׂה ־זֹּֽאת ׃ {פ}
μεγάλη ἡ ἀρχὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ τῆς εἰρήνης αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἔστιν ὅριον ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον Δαυιδ καὶ τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτοῦ κατορθῶσαι αὐτὴν καὶ ἀντιλαβέσθαι αὐτῆς ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἐν κρίματι ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα χρόνον ὁ ζῆλος κυρίου σαβαωθ ποιήσει ταῦτα
Parvulus enim natus est nobis , et filius datus est nobis , et factus est principatus super humerum ejus : et vocabitur nomen ejus , Admirabilis , Consiliarius , Deus , Fortis , Pater futuri saeculi , Princeps pacis .
እስመ ፡ ሕፃን ፡ ተወልደ ፡ ለነ ፤ ወልድ ፡ ተውህበ ፡ ለነ ፡ ወቅድመት ፡ ኮነ ፡ በመትከፍቱ ፡ ወይሰመይ ፡ ስሙ ፡ ዓቢየ ፡ ምክር ፡ መልአክ ፤ እስመ ፡ አነ ፡ አመጽእ ፡ ሰላመ ፡ ለመላእክት ፡ ወሕይወተ ፡ ዚአሁ ።
For a child is born to us. A son is given to us; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
9:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ דָּבָ֛ר שָׁלַ֥ח אֲדֹנָ֖י בְּיַעֲקֹ֑ב וְנָפַ֖ל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל ׃
θάνατον ἀπέστειλεν κύριος ἐπὶ Ιακωβ καὶ ἦλθεν ἐπὶ Ισραηλ
Multiplicabitur ejus imperium , et pacis non erit finis ; super solium David , et super regnum ejus sedebit , ut confirmet illud et corroboret in judicio et justitia , amodo et usque in sempiternum : zelus Domini exercituum faciet hoc .
ወዕበይ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ወአልቦ ፡ ማኅለቅተ ፡ ለሰላሙ ፤ ዲበ ፡ መንበረ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ትጸንዕ ፡ መንግሥቱ ፡ ወይትዌከፍ ፡ በጽድቅ ፡ ወበርትዕ ፡ እምይእዜ ፡ ወእስከ ፡ ለዓለም ።
Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform this.
9:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְיָֽדְעוּ֙ הָעָ֣ם כֻּלּ֔וֹ אֶפְרַ֖יִם וְיוֹשֵׁ֣ב שֹׁמְר֑וֹן בְּגַאֲוָ֛ה וּבְגֹ֥דֶל לֵבָ֖ב לֵאמֹֽר ׃
καὶ γνώσονται πᾶς ὁ λαὸς τοῦ Εφραιμ καὶ οἱ ἐγκαθήμενοι ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ ἐφ’ ὕβρει καὶ ὑψηλῇ καρδίᾳ λέγοντες
Verbum misit Dominus in Jacob , et cecidit in Israël .
ወፈነወ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሞተ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወመጽአ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ።
The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it falls on Israel.
9:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ לְבֵנִ֥ים נָפָ֖לוּ וְגָזִ֣ית נִבְנֶ֑ה שִׁקְמִ֣ים גֻּדָּ֔עוּ וַאֲרָזִ֖ים נַחֲלִֽיף ׃
πλίνθοι πεπτώκασιν ἀλλὰ δεῦτε λαξεύσωμεν λίθους καὶ ἐκκόψωμεν συκαμίνους καὶ κέδρους καὶ οἰκοδομήσωμεν ἑαυτοῖς πύργον
Et sciet omnis populus Ephraim , et habitantes Samariam , in superbia et magnitudine cordis dicentes :
ወያእምሩ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ ኤፍሬም ፡ ወእለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ሰማርያ ፤ በኃሣሮሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይብሉ ፡ በትዝኅርተ ፡ ልቦሙ ።
All the people will know, including Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart,
9:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיְשַׂגֵּ֧ב יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶת ־צָרֵ֥י רְצִ֖ין עָלָ֑יו וְאֶת ־אֹיְבָ֖יו יְסַכְסֵֽךְ ׃
καὶ ῥάξει ὁ θεὸς τοὺς ἐπανιστανομένους ἐπ’ ὄρος Σιων ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς καὶ τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτῶν διασκεδάσει
Lateres ceciderunt , sed quadris lapidibus aedificabimus ; sycomoros succiderunt , sed cedros immutabimus .
ግንፋልሰ ፡ ወድቀ ፣፡ ንዑ ፡ ንቀር ፡ እብነ ፤ ወንግዝም ፡ ሠግላ ፡ ወጽሕድ ፡ ማኅፈደ ፡ ለነ ።
“The bricks have fallen, but we will build with cut stone. The sycamore fig trees have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”
9:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ אֲרָ֣ם מִקֶּ֗דֶם וּפְלִשְׁתִּים֙ מֵאָח֔וֹר וַיֹּאכְל֥וּ אֶת ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּכׇל ־פֶּ֑ה בְּכׇל ־זֹאת֙ לֹא ־שָׁ֣ב אַפּ֔וֹ וְע֖וֹד יָד֥וֹ נְטוּיָֽה ׃
Συρίαν ἀφ’ ἡλίου ἀνατολῶν καὶ τοὺς Ἕλληνας ἀφ’ ἡλίου δυσμῶν τοὺς κατεσθίοντας τὸν Ισραηλ ὅλῳ τῷ στόματι ἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἀπεστράφη ὁ θυμός ἀλλ’ ἔτι ἡ χεὶρ ὑψηλή
Et elevabit Dominus hostes Rasin super eum , et inimicos ejus in tumultum vertet .
ወያንኅሎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዲበ ፡ እለ ፡ ይቀውሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ ጽዮን ፤ ወይመውጦሙ ፡ ለፀር ።
Therefore Yahweh will set up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin, and will stir up his enemies,
9:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ וְהָעָ֥ם לֹא ־שָׁ֖ב עַד ־הַמַּכֵּ֑הוּ וְאֶת ־יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת לֹ֥א דָרָֽשׁוּ ׃ {ס}
καὶ ὁ λαὸς οὐκ ἀπεστράφη ἕως ἐπλήγη καὶ τὸν κύριον οὐκ ἐξεζήτησαν
Syriam ab oriente , et Philisthiim ab occidente ; et devorabunt Israël toto ore . In omnibus his non est aversus furor ejus , sed adhuc manus ejus extenta .
ለሶርያ ፡ እምሥራቀ ፡ ፀሐይ ፡ ወለአረሚያንሂ ፡ እምዕራበ ፡ ፀሐይ ፤ እለ ፡ ይውሕጥዎሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ወአብቀዉ ፡ አፉሆሙ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ።
The Syrians in front, and the Philistines behind; and they will devour Israel with open mouth. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
9:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיַּכְרֵ֨ת יְהֹוָ֜ה מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֗ל רֹ֧אשׁ וְזָנָ֛ב כִּפָּ֥ה וְאַגְמ֖וֹן י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד ׃
καὶ ἀφεῖλεν κύριος ἀπὸ Ισραηλ κεφαλὴν καὶ οὐράν μέγαν καὶ μικρὸν ἐν μιᾷ ἡμέρᾳ
Et populus non est reversus ad percutientem se , et Dominum exercituum non inquisierunt .
ወሕዝብኒ ፡ ኢተመይጠ ፡ እስከ ፡ ተቀሥፈ ፤ ወኢኀሠሥዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ኃያል ።
Yet the people have not turned to him who struck them, neither have they sought Yahweh of Armies.
9:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ זָקֵ֥ן וּנְשֽׂוּא ־פָנִ֖ים ה֣וּא הָרֹ֑אשׁ וְנָבִ֥יא מֽוֹרֶה ־שֶּׁ֖קֶר ה֥וּא הַזָּנָֽב ׃
πρεσβύτην καὶ τοὺς τὰ πρόσωπα θαυμάζοντας αὕτη ἡ ἀρχή καὶ προφήτην διδάσκοντα ἄνομα οὗτος ἡ οὐρά
Et disperdet Dominus ab Israël caput et caudam , incurvantem et refrenantem , die una .
ወመተረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ እምእስራኤል ፡ ርእሰ ፡ ወዘነበ ፤ ዓቢየ ፡ ወንኡሰ ፡ በሐአቲ ፡ ዕለት ።
Therefore Yahweh will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed, in one day.
9:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּֽהְי֛וּ מְאַשְּׁרֵ֥י הָֽעָם ־הַזֶּ֖ה מַתְעִ֑ים וּמְאֻשָּׁרָ֖יו מְבֻלָּעִֽים ׃
καὶ ἔσονται οἱ μακαρίζοντες τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον πλανῶντες καὶ πλανῶσιν ὅπως καταπίωσιν αὐτούς
Longaevus et honorabilis , ipse est caput ; et propheta docens mendacium , ipse est cauda .
ወልሂቅሂ ፡ ወእለ ፡ ያደሉ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ገጽ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ርእስ ፣፡ ነቢይሂ ፡ ዘይሜህር ፡ ዓመፃ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዘነብ ።
The elder and the honorable man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail.
9:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ עַל ־כֵּ֨ן עַל ־בַּחוּרָ֜יו לֹא ־יִשְׂמַ֣ח ׀ אֲדֹנָ֗י וְאֶת ־יְתֹמָ֤יו וְאֶת ־אַלְמְנוֹתָיו֙ לֹ֣א יְרַחֵ֔ם כִּ֤י כֻלּוֹ֙ חָנֵ֣ף וּמֵרַ֔ע וְכׇל ־פֶּ֖ה דֹּבֵ֣ר נְבָלָ֑ה בְּכׇל ־זֹאת֙ לֹא ־שָׁ֣ב אַפּ֔וֹ וְע֖וֹד יָד֥וֹ נְטוּיָֽה ׃
διὰ τοῦτο ἐπὶ τοὺς νεανίσκους αὐτῶν οὐκ εὐφρανθήσεται ὁ θεὸς καὶ τοὺς ὀρφανοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς χήρας αὐτῶν οὐκ ἐλεήσει ὅτι πάντες ἄνομοι καὶ πονηροί καὶ πᾶν στόμα λαλεῖ ἄδικα ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τούτοις οὐκ ἀπεστράφη ὁ θυμός ἀλλ’ ἔτι ἡ χεὶρ ὑψηλή
Et erunt qui beatificant populum istum , seducentes ; et qui beatificantur , praecipitati .
ወይጌግዩ ፡ እለ ፡ ያስተበፅዕዎሙ ፡ ለዝንቱ ፡ ሕዝብ ፤ ወያስሕትዎሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ የሐጥዎሙ ።
For those who lead this people lead them astray; and those who are led by them are destroyed.
9:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ כִּֽי ־בָעֲרָ֤ה כָאֵשׁ֙ רִשְׁעָ֔ה שָׁמִ֥יר וָשַׁ֖יִת תֹּאכֵ֑ל וַתִּצַּת֙ בְּסִֽבְכֵ֣י הַיַּ֔עַר וַיִּֽתְאַבְּכ֖וּ גֵּא֥וּת עָשָֽׁן ׃
καὶ καυθήσεται ὡς πῦρ ἡ ἀνομία καὶ ὡς ἄγρωστις ξηρὰ βρωθήσεται ὑπὸ πυρός καὶ καυθήσεται ἐν τοῖς δάσεσι τοῦ δρυμοῦ καὶ συγκαταφάγεται τὰ κύκλῳ τῶν βουνῶν πάντα
Propter hoc super adolescentulis ejus non laetabitur Dominus , et pupillorum ejus et viduarum non miserebitur : quia omnis hypocrita est et nequam , et universum os locutum est stultitiam ; in omnibus his non est aversus furor ejus , sed adhuc manus ejus extenta .
በበይነ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ኢይትፌሣሕ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወበራዙቲሆሙ ፤ ወኢይሣሀል ፡ እጓለ ፡ ማውታሆሙ ፡ ወእቤራቲሆሙ ፤ እስመ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እኩያን ፡ ወጽልሕዋን ፤ ወኵሉ ፡ አፍ ፡ ይነብብ ፡ ዓመፃ ።
Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
9:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ בְּעֶבְרַ֛ת יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת נֶעְתַּ֣ם אָ֑רֶץ וַיְהִ֤י הָעָם֙ כְּמַאֲכֹ֣לֶת אֵ֔שׁ אִ֥ישׁ אֶל ־אָחִ֖יו לֹ֥א יַחְמֹֽלוּ ׃
διὰ θυμὸν ὀργῆς κυρίου συγκέκαυται ἡ γῆ ὅλη καὶ ἔσται ὁ λαὸς ὡς ὑπὸ πυρὸς κατακεκαυμένος ἄνθρωπος τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐλεήσει
Succensa est enim quasi ignis impietas : veprem et spinam vorabit , et succendetur in densitate saltus , et convolvetur superbia fumi .
ወይነድድ ፡ ከመ ፡ እሳት ፡ ኃጢአት ፡ ወከመ ፡ ሐሠር ፡ ይቡስ ፡ ዘበልዐቶ ፡ እሳት ፤ ወይውዓ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሣዕረ ፡ ገዳም ፡ ወይበልዕ ፡ ዘዐውደ ፡ አውግር ፡ ኵሎ ።
For wickedness burns like a fire. It devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.
9:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ וַיִּגְזֹ֤ר עַל ־יָמִין֙ וְרָעֵ֔ב וַיֹּ֥אכַל עַל ־שְׂמֹ֖אול וְלֹ֣א שָׂבֵ֑עוּ אִ֥ישׁ בְּשַׂר ־זְרֹע֖וֹ יֹאכֵֽלוּ ׃
ἀλλὰ ἐκκλινεῖ εἰς τὰ δεξιά ὅτι πεινάσει καὶ φάγεται ἐκ τῶν ἀριστερῶν καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐμπλησθῇ ἄνθρωπος ἔσθων τὰς σάρκας τοῦ βραχίονος αὐτοῦ
In ira Domini exercituum conturbata est terra , et erit populus quasi esca ignis ; vir fratri suo non parcet .
መቅሠፍተ ፡ መዓቱ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ታውዒ ፡ ኵላ ፡ ምድረ ፤ ወይከውኑ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዋዕየ ፡ እሳት ፡ ወኢይምሕር ፡ ብእሲ ፡ እኅዋሁ ።
Through Yahweh of Armies’ wrath, the land is burned up; and the people are the fuel for the fire. No one spares his brother.
9:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ מְנַשֶּׁ֣ה אֶת ־אֶפְרַ֗יִם וְאֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ אֶת ־מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה יַחְדָּ֥ו הֵ֖מָּה עַל ־יְהוּדָ֑ה בְּכׇל ־זֹאת֙ לֹא ־שָׁ֣ב אַפּ֔וֹ וְע֖וֹד יָד֥וֹ נְטוּיָֽה ׃ {ס}
φάγεται γὰρ Μανασση τοῦ Εφραιμ καὶ Εφραιμ τοῦ Μανασση ὅτι ἅμα πολιορκήσουσιν τὸν Ιουδαν ἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἀπεστράφη ὁ θυμός ἀλλ’ ἔτι ἡ χεὶρ ὑψηλή
Et declinabit ad dexteram , et esuriet ; et comedet ad sinistram , et non saturabitur ; unusquisque carnem brachii sui vorabit : Manasses Ephraim , et Ephraim Manassen ; simul ipsi contra Judam .
ወይትመየጥ ፡ የማኖ ፡ እስመ ፡ ይርኅብ ፤ ወይበልዕ ፡ ፀጋሞ ፡ ወኢይጸግብ ፡ ሰብእ ፤ እንዘ ፡ ይበልዕ ፡ ሥጋ ፡ መዝራዕቱ ።
One will devour on the right hand, and be hungry; and he will eat on the left hand, and they will not be satisfied. Everyone will eat the flesh of his own arm:
9:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ — — In omnibus his non est aversus furor ejus , sed adhuc manus ejus extenta .
ወበዝኒ ፡ ኢተመይጠት ፡ መዓቱ ፤ እዴሁ ፡ ዓዲሃ ፡ ልዕልት ።
Manasseh eating Ephraim and Ephraim eating Manasseh, and they together will be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
