36:1
וַיֹּ֥סֶף אֱלִיה֗וּא וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
προσθεὶς δὲ Ελιους ἔτι λέγει
Addens quoque Eliu, haec locutus est :
ኀበ፡ ተናገረ፡ ኤልዩ፡ አውሥአ፡ ወይቤ።
Elihu also continued, and said,
36:2
כַּתַּר־לִ֣י זְ֭עֵיר וַאֲחַוֶּ֑ךָּ כִּ֤י ע֖וֹד לֶאֱל֣וֹהַּ מִלִּֽים׃
μεῖνόν με μικρὸν ἔτι ἵνα διδάξω σε ἔτι γὰρ ἐν ἐμοί ἐστιν λέξις
Sustine me paululum, et indicabo tibi : adhuc enim habeo quod pro Deo loquar.
ተዓገሠኒ፡ ዓዲ፡ ኅዳጠ፡ ወእሜህረከ፡ ዓዲ፡ ብየ፡ ነገር፡ ኀቤየ።
“Bear with me a little, and I will show you; for I still have something to say on God’s behalf.
36:3
אֶשָּׂ֣א דֵ֭עִי לְמֵרָח֑וֹק וּ֝לְפֹעֲלִ֗י אֶֽתֵּֽן־צֶֽדֶק׃
ἀναλαβὼν τὴν ἐπιστήμην μου μακρὰν ἔργοις δέ μου δίκαια ἐρῶ
Repetam scientiam meam a principio, et operatorem meum probabo justum.
እትሜጠዋ፡ ለነገርየ፡ እምኁቅ፡ ምግባርየሰ፡ ጻድቅ፡ እበል።
I will get my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
36:4
כִּֽי־אׇ֭מְנָם לֹא־שֶׁ֣קֶר מִלָּ֑י תְּמִ֖ים דֵּע֣וֹת עִמָּֽךְ׃
ἐπ’ ἀληθείας καὶ οὐκ ἄδικα ῥήματα ἀδίκως συνίεις
Vere enim absque mendacio sermones mei, et perfecta scientia probabitur tibi.
እሙን፡ ነገርየ፡ ዘኢኮነ፡ ሐሰተ፡ ወዓመፃ፡ ኢይሰምዕ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
For truly my words are not false. One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.
36:5
הֶן־אֵ֣ל כַּ֭בִּיר וְלֹ֣א יִמְאָ֑ס כַּ֝בִּ֗יר כֹּ֣חַֽ לֵֽב׃
γίγνωσκε δὲ ὅτι ὁ κύριος οὐ μὴ ἀποποιήσηται τὸν ἄκακον δυνατὸς ἰσχύι καρδίας
Deus potentes non abjicit, cum et ipse sit potens :
አእምር፡ ባሕቱ፡ ከመ፡ ኢይገድፎ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለየዋህ፡ ኃያል፡ ወጽኑዕ፡ ውእቱ።
“Behold, God is mighty, and doesn’t despise anyone. He is mighty in strength of understanding.
36:6
לֹא־יְחַיֶּ֥ה רָשָׁ֑ע וּמִשְׁפַּ֖ט עֲנִיִּ֣ים יִתֵּֽן׃
ἀσεβῆ οὐ μὴ ζωοποιήσει καὶ κρίμα πτωχῶν δώσει
sed non salvat impios, et judicium pauperibus tribuit.
ወኢያሐይዎ፡ ለልበ፡ ኃጥእ፡ ወይሁብ፡ ፍትሐ፡ ለነዳያን።
He doesn’t preserve the life of the wicked, but gives justice to the afflicted.
36:7
לֹֽא־יִגְרַ֥ע מִצַּדִּ֗יק עֵ֫ינָ֥יו וְאֶת־מְלָכִ֥ים לַכִּסֵּ֑א וַיֹּשִׁיבֵ֥ם לָ֝נֶ֗צַח וַיִּגְבָּֽהוּ׃
οὐκ ἀφελεῖ ἀπὸ δικαίου ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ μετὰ βασιλέων εἰς θρόνον καὶ καθιεῖ αὐτοὺς εἰς νεῖκος καὶ ὑψωθήσονται
Non auferet a justo oculos suos : et reges in solio collocat in perpetuum, et illi eriguntur.
ወኢያአትት፡ አዕይንቲሁ፡ እምጻድቅ፡ ወየሐትቶ፡ ለጻድቅወይነብሮ፡ ውስተ፡ መናብርት፡ ምስለ፡ ነገሥት፡ ወያነብሮሙ፡ በዕልገቶሙ፡ መልዕልተ፡ ወይከብሩ።
He doesn’t withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne, he sets them forever, and they are exalted.
36:8
וְאִם־אֲסוּרִ֥ים בַּזִּקִּ֑ים יִ֝לָּכְד֗וּן בְּחַבְלֵי־עֹֽנִי׃
καὶ εἰ πεπεδημένοι ἐν χειροπέδαις συσχεθήσονται ἐν σχοινίοις πενίας
Et si fuerint in catenis, et vinciantur funibus paupertatis,
ወእለሂ፡ ሙቁሐን፡ እደዊሆሙ፡ በሰናስል፡ ይትአኀዙ፡ በሐብለ፡ ንዴት።
If they are bound in fetters, and are taken in the cords of afflictions,
36:9
וַיַּגֵּ֣ד לָהֶ֣ם פׇּעֳלָ֑ם וּ֝פִשְׁעֵיהֶ֗ם כִּ֣י יִתְגַּבָּֽרוּ׃
καὶ ἀναγγελεῖ αὐτοῖς τὰ ἔργα αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτῶν ὅτι ἰσχύσουσιν
indicabit eis opera eorum, et scelera eorum, quia violenti fuerunt.
ወይነግሮሙ፡ ምግባሮሙ፡ ወጌጋዮሙሂ፡ እስመ፡ ብዙኅ፡ ውእቱ።
then he shows them their work, and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.
36:10
וַיִּ֣גֶל אׇ֭זְנָם לַמּוּסָ֑ר וַ֝יֹּ֗אמֶר כִּֽי־יְשׁוּב֥וּן מֵאָֽוֶן׃
ἀλλὰ τοῦ δικαίου εἰσακούσεται καὶ εἶπεν ὅτι ἐπιστραφήσονται ἐξ ἀδικίας
Revelabit quoque aurem eorum, ut corripiat : et loquetur, ut revertantur ab iniquitate.
ወዳእሙ፡ ለጻድቃን፡ ይሰምዖሙ፡ ወይቤ፡ ይትመየጡ፡ እምኃጢአቶሙ።
He also opens their ears to instruction, and commands that they return from iniquity.
36:11
אִֽם־יִשְׁמְע֗וּ וְֽיַ֫עֲבֹ֥דוּ יְכַלּ֣וּ יְמֵיהֶ֣ם בַּטּ֑וֹב וּ֝שְׁנֵיהֶ֗ם בַּנְּעִימִֽים׃
ἐὰν ἀκούσωσιν καὶ δουλεύσωσιν συντελέσουσιν τὰς ἡμέρας αὐτῶν ἐν ἀγαθοῖς καὶ τὰ ἔτη αὐτῶν ἐν εὐπρεπείαις
Si audierint et observaverint, complebunt dies suos in bono, et annos suos in gloria :
ለእመ፡ ሰምዑ፡ ወይትቀመዩ፡ ወይፌጽሙ፡ መዋዕሊሆሙ፡ በሠናይ፡ ወዓመታቲሆሙ፡ በተድላ።
If they listen and serve him, they will spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
36:12
וְאִם־לֹ֣א יִ֭שְׁמְעוּ בְּשֶׁ֣לַח יַעֲבֹ֑רוּ וְ֝יִגְוְע֗וּ בִּבְלִי־דָֽעַת׃
ἀσεβεῖς δὲ οὐ διασῴζει παρὰ τὸ μὴ βούλεσθαι εἰδέναι αὐτοὺς τὸν κύριον καὶ διότι νουθετούμενοι ἀνήκοοι ἦσαν
si autem non audierint, transibunt per gladium, et consumentur in stultitia.
ወለኃጥአንሰ፡ ኢይሰምዖሙ፡ ወኢያድኅኖሙ፡ እስመ፡ ኢይፈቅዱ፡ ይርአይዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ወእንዘ፡ ይጌሥዖሙ፡ ኢይሰምዑ።
But if they don’t listen, they will perish by the sword; they will die without knowledge.
36:13
וְֽחַנְפֵי־לֵ֭ב יָשִׂ֣ימוּ אָ֑ף לֹ֥א יְ֝שַׁוְּע֗וּ כִּ֣י אֲסָרָֽם׃
καὶ ὑποκριταὶ καρδίᾳ τάξουσιν θυμόν οὐ βοήσονται ὅτι ἔδησεν αὐτούς
Simulatores et callidi provocant iram Dei, neque clamabunt cum vincti fuerint.
ወደልዋን፡ ይኤድምዎ፡ ለልቦሙ፡ ለመዓት፡ ወየአወይዉ፡ አመ፡ አኅሠሮሙ።
“But those who are godless in heart lay up anger. They don’t cry for help when he binds them.
36:14
תָּמֹ֣ת בַּנֹּ֣עַר נַפְשָׁ֑ם וְ֝חַיָּתָ֗ם בַּקְּדֵשִֽׁים׃
ἀποθάνοι τοίνυν ἐν νεότητι ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτῶν ἡ δὲ ζωὴ αὐτῶν τιτρωσκομένη ὑπὸ ἀγγέλων
Morietur in tempestate anima eorum, et vita eorum inter effeminatos.
ወትትመሰው፡ ነፍሶሙ፡ በንእሶሙ፡ ወያሴርኅዋ፡ ለሕይወቶሙ፡ መላእክት።
They die in youth. Their life perishes among the unclean.
36:15
יְחַלֵּ֣ץ עָנִ֣י בְעׇנְי֑וֹ וְיִ֖גֶל בַּלַּ֣חַץ אׇזְנָֽם׃
ἀνθ’ ὧν ἔθλιψαν ἀσθενῆ καὶ ἀδύνατον κρίμα δὲ πραέων ἐκθήσει
Eripiet de angustia sua pauperem, et revelabit in tribulatione aurem ejus.
እስመ፡ አመንደቡ፡ ነዳየ፡ ወምስኪነ፡ ወሜጡ፡ ህትሐ፡ የዋሃን።
He delivers the afflicted by their affliction, and opens their ear in oppression.
36:16
וְאַ֤ף הֲסִֽיתְךָ֨׀ מִפִּי־צָ֗ר רַ֭חַב לֹא־מוּצָ֣ק תַּחְתֶּ֑יהָ וְנַ֥חַת שֻׁ֝לְחָנְךָ֗ מָ֣לֵא דָֽשֶׁן׃
καὶ προσέτι ἠπάτησέν σε ἐκ στόματος ἐχθροῦ ἄβυσσος κατάχυσις ὑποκάτω αὐτῆς καὶ κατέβη τράπεζά σου πλήρης πιότητος
Igitur salvabit te de ore angusto latissime, et non habente fundamentum subter se : requies autem mensae tuae erit plena pinguedine.
ወተሣለቁ፡ ላዕሌከ፡ በአፈ፡ ጸላእትከ፡ ቀላይ፡ ይትከዓው፡ በታሕቴከ፡ ወትወርድ፡ ማእድከ፡ እንዘ፡ ምሉእ፡ ወጥሉል።
Yes, he would have allured you out of distress, into a wide place, where there is no restriction. That which is set on your table would be full of fatness.
36:17
וְדִין־רָשָׁ֥ע מָלֵ֑אתָ דִּ֖ין וּמִשְׁפָּ֣ט יִתְמֹֽכוּ׃
οὐχ ὑστερήσει δὲ ἀπὸ δικαίων κρίμα
Causa tua quasi impii judicata est : causam judiciumque recipies.
ወመዓቱ፡ ላዕለ፡ ተሣዓን፡ ትመጽእ፡ ዘነሥኡ፡ ሕልያነ፡ ከመ፡ የዓምዑ፡ ወኢይትረሣእከ፡ ዘቀዳሚ፡ ጌጋይከ።
“But you are full of the judgment of the wicked. Judgment and justice take hold of you.
36:18
כִּֽי־חֵ֭מָה פֶּן־יְסִֽיתְךָ֣ בְסָ֑פֶק וְרׇב־כֹּ֝֗פֶר אַל־יַטֶּֽךָּ׃
θυμὸς δὲ ἐπ’ ἀσεβεῖς ἔσται δῑ ἀσέβειαν δώρων ὧν ἐδέχοντο ἐπ’ ἀδικίαις
Non te ergo superet ira ut aliquem opprimas : nec multitudo donorum inclinet te.
ኢያስሕትከ፡ ሥላቅ፡ ወስላተ፡ ስኡናን፡ በምንዳቤሆሙ።
Don’t let riches entice you to wrath, neither let the great size of a bribe turn you aside.
36:19
הֲיַעֲרֹ֣ךְ שׁ֭וּעֲךָ לֹ֣א בְצָ֑ר וְ֝כֹ֗ל מַאֲמַצֵּי־כֹֽחַ׃
μή σε ἐκκλινάτω ἑκὼν ὁ νοῦς δεήσεως ἐν ἀνάγκῃ ὄντων ἀδυνάτων καὶ πάντας τοὺς κραταιοῦντας ἰσχύν
Depone magnitudinem tuam absque tribulatione, et omnes robustos fortitudine.
ባሕቱ፡ ተዓቀብ፡ ወግበር፡ ሠናየ፡ ወኢትግበር፡ እኩየ፡ ወበእንተዝ፡ ትድኅን፡ እምንዴት።
Would your wealth sustain you in distress, or all the might of your strength?
36:20
אַל־תִּשְׁאַ֥ף הַלָּ֑יְלָה לַעֲל֖וֹת עַמִּ֣ים תַּחְתָּֽם׃
μὴ ἐξελκύσῃς τὴν νύκτα τοῦ ἀναβῆναι λαοὺς ἀντ’ αὐτῶν
Ne protrahas noctem, ut ascendant populi pro eis.
ናሁ፡ ጋያል፡ ያጸንዕ፡ በኃይሉ፡ ወመኑ፡ ዘይክል፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ተኃይሎ።
Don’t desire the night, when people are cut off in their place.
36:21
הִ֭שָּׁמֶר אַל־תֵּ֣פֶן אֶל־אָ֑וֶן כִּֽי־עַל־זֶ֝֗ה בָּחַ֥רְתָּ מֵעֹֽנִי׃
ἀλλὰ φύλαξαι μὴ πράξῃς ἄτοπα ἐπὶ τοῦτον γὰρ ἐξείλω ἀπὸ πτωχείας
Cave ne declines ad iniquitatem : hanc enim coepisti sequi post miseriam.
ወመኑ፡ ዘየሐትት፡ ምግባሮ፡ ወመኑ፡ ዘይብሎ፡ ምንተ፡ ገበርከ።
Take heed, don’t regard iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.
36:22
הֶן־אֵ֭ל יַשְׂגִּ֣יב בְּכֹח֑וֹ מִ֖י כָמֹ֣הוּ מוֹרֶֽה׃
ἰδοὺ ὁ ἰσχυρὸς κραταιώσει ἐν ἰσχύι αὐτοῦ τίς γάρ ἐστιν κατ’ αὐτὸν δυνάστης
Ecce Deus excelsus in fortitudine sua, et nullus ei similis in legislatoribus.
ወተዘከር፡ ከመ፡ ዓቢይ፡ ግብሩ።
Behold, God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?
36:23
מִֽי־פָקַ֣ד עָלָ֣יו דַּרְכּ֑וֹ וּמִי־אָ֝מַ֗ר פָּעַ֥לְתָּ עַוְלָֽה׃
τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ ἐτάζων αὐτοῦ τὰ ἔργα ἢ τίς ὁ εἴπας ἔπραξεν ἄδικα
Quis poterit scrutari vias ejus ? aut quis potest ei dicere : Operatus es iniquitatem ?
እደው፡ እለ፡ ኰነኑ፡ ወእለ፡ ተኰነኑ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሰብእ፡ ይሄሊ፡ ለሊሁ፡ ከመ፡ ምውታን፡ እሙንቱ፡ ኃጥአን።
Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness’?
36:24
זְ֭כֹר כִּֽי־תַשְׂגִּ֣יא פׇעֳל֑וֹ אֲשֶׁ֖ר שֹׁרְר֣וּ אֲנָשִֽׁים׃
μνήσθητι ὅτι μεγάλα ἐστὶν αὐτοῦ τὰ ἔργα ὧν ἦρξαν ἄνδρες
Memento quod ignores opus ejus, de quo cecinerunt viri.
ናሁ፡ ኃያል፡ ወዓቢይ፡ ወኢይትረአይ፡ ኍልቈ፡ ፍናዊሁ፡ ወኢይትአወቅ።
“Remember that you magnify his work, about which men have sung.
36:25
כׇּל־אָדָ֥ם חָזוּ־ב֑וֹ אֱ֝נ֗וֹשׁ יַבִּ֥יט מֵרָחֽוֹק׃
πᾶς ἄνθρωπος εἶδεν ἐν ἑαυτῷ ὅσοι τιτρωσκόμενοί εἰσιν βροτοί
Omnes homines vident eum : unusquisque intuetur procul.
ወኢትኌለቊ፡ ነጠብጣበ፡ ዝንማ፡ ዘይትከዓው፡ እም፡ ውስተ፡ ደመና።
All men have looked on it. Man sees it afar off.
36:26
הֶן־אֵ֣ל שַׂ֭גִּיא וְלֹ֣א נֵדָ֑ע מִסְפַּ֖ר שָׁנָ֣יו וְלֹא־חֵֽקֶר׃
ἰδοὺ ὁ ἰσχυρὸς πολύς καὶ οὐ γνωσόμεθα ἀριθμὸς ἐτῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπέραντος
Ecce Deus magnus vincens scientiam nostram : numerus annorum ejus inaestimabilis.
ወያሠርዕ፡ ዘበልየ፡ ወይከድን፡ ደመና፡ ዲበ፡ መዋቲ፡ ወይትከዓው፡ ዝናም፡ ዘአልቦ፡ ኍልቊ።
Behold, God is great, and we don’t know him. The number of his years is unsearchable.
36:27
כִּ֭י יְגָרַ֣ע נִטְפֵי־מָ֑יִם יָזֹ֖קּוּ מָטָ֣ר לְאֵדֽוֹ׃
ἀριθμηταὶ δὲ αὐτῷ σταγόνες ὑετοῦ καὶ ἐπιχυθήσονται ὑετῷ εἰς νεφέλην
Qui aufert stillas pluviae, et effundit imbres ad instar gurgitum,
ወየአምር፡ ራኅበ፡ ደመናት፡ በአምጣነ፡ ጽላሎቱ።
For he draws up the drops of water, which distill in rain from his vapor,
36:28
אֲשֶֽׁר־יִזְּל֥וּ שְׁחָקִ֑ים יִ֝רְעֲפ֗וּ עֲלֵ֤י׀ אָדָ֬ם רָֽב׃
ῥυήσονται παλαιώματα ἐσκίασεν δὲ νέφη ἐπὶ ἀμυθήτων βροτῶν ὥραν ἔθετο κτήνεσιν οἴδασιν δὲ κοίτης τάξιν ἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἐξίσταταί σου ἡ διάνοια οὐδὲ διαλλάσσεταί σου ἡ καρδία ἀπὸ σώματος
qui de nubibus fluunt quae praetexunt cuncta desuper.
ናሁ፡ ይሰፍሕ፡ አእምሮ፡ ላዕሌሁ፡ ወይደፍኖ፡ ለማዕበለ፡ ባሕር።
which the skies pour down and which drop on man abundantly.
36:29
אַ֣ף אִם־יָ֭בִין מִפְרְשֵׂי־עָ֑ב תְּ֝שֻׁא֗וֹת סֻכָּתֽוֹ׃
καὶ ἐὰν συνῇ ἀπεκτάσεις νεφέλης ἰσότητα σκηνῆς αὐτοῦ
Si voluerit extendere nubes quasi tentorium suum,
እስመ፡ ቦሙ፡ ይኴንን፡ አሕዛበ፡ ወይሁቦ፡ ሲሳዮ፡ ለጽኑስ።
Indeed, can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds and the thunderings of his pavilion?
36:30
הֵן־פָּרַ֣שׂ עָלָ֣יו אוֹר֑וֹ וְשׇׁרְשֵׁ֖י הַיָּ֣ם כִּסָּֽה׃
ἰδοὺ ἐκτείνει ἐπ’ αὐτὸν ηδω καὶ ῥιζώματα τῆς θαλάσσης ἐκάλυψεν
et fulgurare lumine suo desuper, cardines quoque maris operiet.
ወለእንተ፡ ትንእስ፡ ይከድና፡ ብርሃነ፡ ወአዘዘ፡ ላቲ፡ ዘይዳደቃ።
Behold, he spreads his light around him. He covers the bottom of the sea.
36:31
כִּֽי־בָ֭ם יָדִ֣ין עַמִּ֑ים יִֽתֶּן־אֹ֥כֶל לְמַכְבִּֽיר׃
ἐν γὰρ αὐτοῖς κρινεῖ λαούς δώσει τροφὴν τῷ ἰσχύοντι
Per haec enim judicat populos, et dat escas multis mortalibus.
ወይነግር፡ በእንቲአሁ፡ ዐርኩ፡ እንተ፡ ረከበቶ፡ በዓመጻሁ።
For by these he judges the people. He gives food in abundance.
36:32
עַל־כַּפַּ֥יִם כִּסָּה־א֑וֹר וַיְצַ֖ו עָלֶ֣יהָ בְמַפְגִּֽיעַ׃
ἐπὶ χειρῶν ἐκάλυψεν φῶς καὶ ἐνετείλατο περὶ αὐτῆς ἐν ἀπαντῶντι
In manibus abscondit lucem, et praecepit ei ut rursus adveniat.

He covers his hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark.
36:33
יַגִּ֣יד עָלָ֣יו רֵע֑וֹ מִ֝קְנֶ֗ה אַ֣ף עַל־עוֹלֶֽה׃
ἀναγγελεῖ περὶ αὐτοῦ φίλον αὐτοῦ κτῆσις καὶ περὶ ἀδικίας
Annuntiat de ea amico suo, quod possessio ejus sit, et ad eam possit ascendere.

Its noise tells about him, and the livestock also, concerning the storm that comes up.
