14:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἦν δὲ τὸ πάσχα καὶ τὰ ἄζυμα μετὰ δύο ἡμέρας , καὶ ἐζήτουν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς πῶς αὐτὸν ἐν δόλῳ κρατήσαντες ἀποκτείνωσιν ·
Erat autem Pascha et azyma post biduum : et quaerebant summi sacerdotes et scribae quomodo eum dolo tenerent , et occiderent .
ወእስከ ሰኑይ መዋዕል ፋሲካ በዓለ መጸለት ወኀሠሡ ሊቃነ ካህናት ወጸሐፍት ይትመየንዎ ወየአኀዝዎ ወይቅትልዎ ።
It was now two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might seize him by deception and kill him.
14:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἔλεγον γάρ · μὴ ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ , μήποτε ἔσται θόρυβος τοῦ λαοῦ .
Dicebant autem : Non in die festo , ne forte tumultus fieret in populo .
ወይቤሉ አኮኬ በበዓል ከመ ኢይትሀወኩ ሕዝብ ።
For they said, “Not during the feast, because there might be a riot among the people.”
14:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ὄντος αὐτοῦ ἐν Βηθανίᾳ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ Σίμωνος τοῦ λεπροῦ , κατακειμένου αὐτοῦ ἦλθεν γυνὴ ἔχουσα ἀλάβαστρον μύρου νάρδου πιστικῆς πολυτελοῦς · συντρίψασα τὸν ἀλάβαστρον κατέχεεν αὐτοῦ τῆς κεφαλῆς .
Et cum esset Bethaniae in domo Simonis leprosi , et recumberet , venit mulier habens alabastrum unguenti nardi spicati pretiosi : et fracto alabastro , effudit super caput ejus .
ወእንዘ ሀሎ ቢታንያ በቤተ ስምዖን ዘለምጽ እንዘ ይረፍቅ መጽአት ብእሲት ወአምጽአት ዕፍረተ ዘአልባጥሮስ ዘናርዱ ቅድው ዘዕፁብ ሤጡ ወአኮሰቶ ወሶጠት ዲበ ርእሱ ።
While he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard—very costly. She broke the jar and poured it over his head.
14:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἦσαν δέ τινες ἀγανακτοῦντες πρὸς ἑαυτούς · εἰς τί ἡ ἀπώλεια αὕτη τοῦ μύρου γέγονεν ;
Erant autem quidam indigne ferentes intra semetipsos , et dicentes : Ut quid perditio ista unguenti facta est ?
ወቦ እለ ተምዑ ወይቤሉ ለምንት ዘመጠነዝ ኀጕል ዘዝ ዕፍረት ።
But there were some who were indignant among themselves, saying, “Why has this ointment been wasted?
14:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἠδύνατο γὰρ τοῦτο τὸ μύρον πραθῆναι ἐπάνω δηναρίων τριακοσίων καὶ δοθῆναι τοῖς πτωχοῖς · καὶ ἐνεβριμοῦντο αὐτῇ .
poterat enim unguentum istud venundari plus quam trecentis denariis , et dari pauperibus . Et fremebant in eam .
እምኢተክህለኑ ይሠየጥ ዝንቱ ዕፍረት ፈድፋደ እምሠለስቱ ምእት ዲናር ወይትወሀብ ለነዳያን ወገሠጽዋ ።
For this might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” So they grumbled against her.
14:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν · ἄφετε αὐτήν · τί αὐτῇ κόπους παρέχετε ; καλὸν ἔργον ἠργάσατο ἐν ἐμοί .
Jesus autem dixit : Sinite eam , quid illi molesti estis ? Bonum opus operata est in me :
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ኅድግዋ ለብእሲት ወኢታስርሕዋ ሠናየ ግብረ ገብረት ላዕሌየ ።
But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for me.
14:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ πάντοτε γὰρ τοὺς πτωχοὺς ἔχετε μεθ’ ἑαυτῶν , καὶ ὅταν θέλητε δύνασθε εὖ ποιῆσαι , ἐμὲ δὲ οὐ πάντοτε ἔχετε .
semper enim pauperes habetis vobiscum : et cum volueritis , potestis illis benefacere : me autem non semper habetis .
ወለነዳያንሰ ዘልፈ ትረክብዎሙ በኀቤክሙ ወጊዜ ፈቀድክሙ ታሤንዩ ሎሙ ወኪያየሰ አኮ ዘልፈ ዘትረክቡኒ ።
For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want to, you can do them good; but you will not always have me.
14:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὃ ἔσχεν ἐποίησεν · προέλαβεν μυρίσαι μου τὸ σῶμά εἰς τὸν ἐνταφιασμόν .
Quod habuit haec , fecit : praevenit ungere corpus meum in sepulturam .
ወዛቲኒ ዘባቲ ገብረት ወአቅደመት ወቀብዐተኒ ሥጋየ ለቀበርየ ።
She has done what she could. She has anointed my body beforehand for the burying.
14:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀμὴν δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν , ὅπου ἐὰν κηρυχθῇ τὸ εὐαγγέλιον εἰς ὅλον τὸν κόσμον , καὶ ὃ ἐποίησεν αὕτη λαληθήσεται εἰς μνημόσυνον αὐτῆς .
Amen dico vobis : Ubicumque praedicatum fuerit Evangelium istud in universo mundo , et quod fecit haec , narrabitur in memoriam ejus .
አማን እብለክሙ ኀበ ሰበክዋ ለዛቲ ወንጌል ውስተ ኵሉ ዓለም ይነግሩ ዘገብረት ዛቲ ብእሲት ወይዜከርዋ ።
Most certainly I tell you, wherever this Good News may be preached throughout the whole world, that which this woman has done will also be spoken of for a memorial of her.”
14:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ Ἰούδας Ἰσκαριώθ , ὁ εἷς τῶν δώδεκα , ἀπῆλθεν πρὸς τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς ἵνα αὐτὸν παραδοῖ αὐτοῖς .
Et Judas Iscariotes , unus de duodecim , abiit ad summos sacerdotes , ut proderet eum illis .
ወይሁዳ አስቆሮታዊ አሐዱ እምዐሠርቱ ወክልኤቱ ሖረ ኀበ ሊቃነ ካህናት ከመ ያግብኦ ሎሙ ።
Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might deliver him to them.
14:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ ἀκούσαντες ἐχάρησαν καὶ ἐπηγγείλαντο αὐτῷ ἀργύριον δοῦναι · καὶ ἐζήτει πῶς αὐτὸν εὐκαίρως παραδοῖ .
Qui audientes gavisi sunt : et promiserunt ei pecuniam se daturos . Et quaerebat quomodo illum opportune traderet .
ወሰሚዖሙ ተፈሥሑ ወተናገርዎ የሀብዎ ሠላሳ ብሩረ ወፈቀደ በጽሚት ያግብኦ ሎሙ ።
They, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. He sought how he might conveniently deliver him.
14:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ τῇ πρώτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν ἀζύμων , ὅτε τὸ πάσχα ἔθυον , λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ · ποῦ θέλεις ἀπελθόντες ἑτοιμάσωμεν ἵνα φάγῃς τὸ πάσχα ;
Et primo die azymorum quando Pascha immolabant , dicunt ei discipuli : Quo vis eamus , et paremus tibi ut manduces Pascha ?
ወአመ ቀዳሚት ዕለት በዓለ መጸለት ፋሲካ አመ ይጠብሑ ፍሥሐ ይቤልዎ አርዳኢሁ በአይቴ ትፈቅድ ንሑር ናስተዳሉ ለከ ትብላዕ ፍሥሐ ።
On the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the Passover, his disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare that you may eat the Passover?”
14:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἀποστέλλει δύο τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς · ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν πόλιν , καὶ ἀπαντήσει ὑμῖν ἄνθρωπος κεράμιον ὕδατος βαστάζων · ἀκολουθήσατε αὐτῷ ,
Et mittit duos ex discipulis suis , et dicit eis : Ite in civitatem , et occurret vobis homo lagenam aquae bajulans : sequimini eum ,
ወፈነወ ክልኤተ እምአርዳኢሁ ወይቤሎሙ ሑሩ ሀገረ ዘቅድሜክሙ ወትረክቡ ብእሴ ዘይጸውር ጻሕበ ማይ ወትልውዎ ኀበ ቦአ ቤት ።
He sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and there a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him,
14:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὅπου ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃ εἴπατε τῷ οἰκοδεσπότῃ ὅτι ὁ διδάσκαλος λέγει · ποῦ ἐστιν τὸ κατάλυμά μου , ὅπου τὸ πάσχα μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν μου φάγω ;
et quocumque introierit , dicite domino domus , quia magister dicit : Ubi est refectio mea , ubi Pascha cum discipulis meis manducem ?
ወበልዎ ለበዓለ ቤት ይቤለከ ሊቅ አይቴኑ ጽርሕ ኀበ እበልዕ ፍሥሐ ምስለ አርዳእየ ።
and wherever he enters in, tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’
14:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ αὐτὸς ὑμῖν δείξει ἀνάγαιον μέγα ἐστρωμένον ἕτοιμον , κἀκεῖ ἑτοιμάσατε ἡμῖν .
Et ipse vobis demonstrabit coenaculum grande , stratum : et illic parate nobis .
ወውእቱ ያርእየክሙ ጽርሐ ዐቢየ ወንጹፈ ወርሡየ ወህየ አስተዳልዉ ለነ ።
He will himself show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Get ready for us there.”
14:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐξῆλθον οἱ μαθηταὶ καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εὗρον καθὼς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς , καὶ ἡτοίμασαν τὸ πάσχα .
Et abierunt discipuli ejus , et venerunt in civitatem : et invenerunt sicut dixerat illis , et paraverunt Pascha .
ወሖሩ አርዳኢሁ ሀገረ ወረከቡ በከመ ይቤሎሙ ወአስተዳለዉ በህየ ፍሥሐ ።
His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found things as he had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
14:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ὀψίας γενομένης ἔρχεται μετὰ τῶν δώδεκα .
Vespere autem facto , venit cum duodecim .
ወመስዮ ሖረ ምስለ ዐሠርቱ ወክልኤቱ አርዳኢሁ ።
When it was evening he came with the twelve.
14:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἀνακειμένων αὐτῶν καὶ ἐσθιόντων ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν · ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι εἷς ἐξ ὑμῶν παραδώσει με , ὁ ἐσθίων μετ’ ἐμοῦ .
Et discumbentibus eis , et manducantibus , ait Jesus : Amen dico vobis , quia unus ex vobis tradet me , qui manducat mecum .
ወእንዘ ይረፍቁ ወይበልዑ ይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አማን እብለክሙ አሐዱ እምኔክሙ ዘይበልዕ ምስሌየ ያገብአኒ ።
As they sat and were eating, Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you, one of you will betray me—he who eats with me.”
14:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἤρξαντο λυπεῖσθαι καὶ λέγειν αὐτῷ εἷς κατὰ εἷς · μήτι ἐγώ ;
At illi coeperunt contristari , et dicere ei singulatim : Numquid ego ?
ወአኀዙ ይተክዙ ወይበሉ በበ አሐዱ አነኑ እንጋ ውእቱ ።
They began to be sorrowful, and to ask him one by one, “Surely not I?” And another said, “Surely not I?”
14:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · εἷς τῶν δώδεκα , ὁ ἐμβαπτόμενος μετ’ ἐμοῦ εἰς τὸ τρύβλιον .
Qui ait illis : Unus ex duodecim , qui intingit mecum manum in catino .
ወአውሥአ ወይቤሎሙ አሐዱ እምዐሠርቱ ወክልኤቱ ዘይጸብሕ ምስሌየ ውስተ መጽብሕየ ።
He answered them, “It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.
14:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι ὁ μὲν υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὑπάγει , καθὼς γέγραπται περὶ αὐτοῦ · οὐαὶ δὲ τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐκείνῳ δι’ οὗ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοται · καλὸν αὐτῷ εἰ οὐκ ἐγεννήθη ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος .
Et Filius quidem hominis vadit sicut scriptum est de eo : vae autem homini illi per quem Filius hominis tradetur ! bonum erat ei , si non esset natus homo ille .
ወወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያውሰ የሐውር በከመ ጽሑፍ በእንቲኣሁ ወባሕቱ አሌ ሎቱ ለውእቱ ብእሲ ዘእምኔሁ ይትሜጠውዎ ለወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው እምኀየሶ ሶበ ኢተወልደ ለውእቱ ብእሲ ።
For the Son of Man goes as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”
14:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ἐσθιόντων αὐτῶν λαβὼν ἄρτον εὐλογήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς καὶ εἶπεν · λάβετε · τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ σῶμά μου .
Et manducantibus illis , accepit Jesus panem : et benedicens fregit , et dedit eis , et ait : Sumite , hoc est corpus meum .
ወእንዘ ይበልዑ ነሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ኅብስተ ወባረከ ወፈተተ ወወሀቦሙ ወይቤሎሙ ንሥኡ ብልዑ ዝውእቱ ሥጋየ ።
As they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had blessed it, he broke it and gave to them, and said, “Take, eat. This is my body.”
14:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ λαβὼν ποτήριον εὐχαριστήσας ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς , καὶ ἔπιον ἐξ αὐτοῦ πάντες .
Et accepto calice , gratias agens dedit eis : et biberunt ex illo omnes .
ወነሥአ ጽዋዐኒ ወአእኲቶ ወሀቦሙ ወይቤሎሙ ንሥኡ ወስትዩ እምኔሁ ኵልክሙ ።
He took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them. They all drank of it.
14:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ αἷμά μου τῆς διαθήκης τὸ ἐκχυννόμενον ὑπὲρ πολλῶν .
Et ait illis : Hic est sanguis meus novi testamenti , qui pro multis effundetur .
ወይቤሎሙ ዝውእቱ ደምየ ዘሐዲስ ሥርዐት ዘይትከዐው በእንተ ብዙኃን ።
He said to them, “This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many.
14:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐκέτι οὐ μὴ πίω ἐκ τοῦ γενήματος τῆς ἀμπέλου ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης ὅταν αὐτὸ πίνω καινὸν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ .
Amen dico vobis , quia jam non bibam de hoc genimine vitis usque in diem illum , cum illud bibam novum in regno Dei .
አማን እብለክሙ ኢይሰቲ እንከ እምዝንቱ ፍሬ ወይን እስከ እንታክቲ ዕለት አመ እሰትዮ ሐዲሰ በመንግሥተ እግዚአብሔር ።
Most certainly I tell you, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in God’s Kingdom.”
14:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ὑμνήσαντες ἐξῆλθον εἰς τὸ ὄρος τῶν ἐλαιῶν .
Et hymno dicto exierunt in montem Olivarum .
ሰቢሖሙ ወአንቢቦሙ ወፅኡ ውስተ ደብረ ዘይት ።
When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
14:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι πάντες σκανδαλισθήσεσθε , ὅτι γέγραπται · πατάξω τὸν ποιμένα , καὶ τὰ πρόβατα διασκορπισθήσονται .
Et ait eis Jesus : Omnes scandalizabimini in me in nocte ista : quia scriptum est : Percutiam pastorem , et dispergentur oves .
ወይቤሎሙ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ለአርዳኢሁ ኵልክሙ ትክሕዱኒ በዛቲ ሌሊት እስመ ጽሑፍ ዘይብል «እቀትሎ ለኖላዊ ወይዘረዋ አባግዒሁ ።»
Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’
14:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀλλὰ μετὰ τὸ ἐγερθῆναί με προάξω ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν .
Sed postquam resurrexero , praecedam vos in Galilaeam .
ወእምድኅረ ተንሣእኩ እቀድመክሙ ገሊላ ።
However, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.”
14:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ Πέτρος ἔφη αὐτῷ · εἰ καὶ πάντες σκανδαλισθήσονται , ἀλλ’ οὐκ ἐγώ .
Petrus autem ait illi : Et si omnes scandalizati fuerint in te , sed non ego .
ወይቤሎ ጴጥሮስ ለእመኒ ኵሎሙ ክሕዱከ አንሰ ኢይክሕደከ ።
But Peter said to him, “Although all will be offended, yet I will not.”
14:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς · ἀμὴν λέγω σοι ὅτι σὺ σήμερον ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ πρὶν ἢ δὶς ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι τρίς με ἀπαρνήσῃ .
Et ait illi Jesus : Amen dico tibi , quia tu hodie in nocte hac , priusquam gallus vocem bis dederit , ter me es negaturus .
ወይቤሎ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አማን እብለከ አንተ ትክሕደኒ ዮም ሥልሰ በዛቲ ሌሊት ዘእንበለ ይንቁ ዶርሆ ክልኤ ጊዜ ።
Jesus said to him, “Most certainly I tell you that you today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”
14:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἐκπερισσῶς ἐλάλει · ἐὰν με δέῃ συναποθανεῖν σοι , οὐ μή σε ἀπαρνήσωμαι . ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ πάντες ἔλεγον .
At ille amplius loquebatur : Et si oportuerit me simul commori tibi , non te negabo . Similiter autem et omnes dicebant .
ወአፈድፈደ ጴጥሮስ ትምክሕተ ወተሐልፎተ እንዘ ይብል እመውትሂ ምስሌከ ወኢይክሕደከ ወከማሁ ይቤሉ ኵሎሙ ።
But he spoke all the more, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” They all said the same thing.
14:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ἔρχονται εἰς χωρίον οὗ τὸ ὄνομα Γεθσημανεί , καὶ λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ · καθίσατε ὧδε ἕως προσεύξωμαι .
Et veniunt in praedium , cui nomen Gethsemani . Et ait discipulis suis : Sedete hic donec orem .
ወሖሩ ዐጸደ ወይን እንተ ስማ ጌቴሴማኒ ወይቤሎሙ ለአርዳኢሁ ንበሩ ዝየ እስከ አሐውር ከሃ ወእጼሊ ።
They came to a place which was named Gethsemane. He said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”
14:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ παραλαμβάνει τὸν Πέτρον καὶ Ἰάκωβον καὶ Ἰωάννην μετ’ αὐτοῦ , καὶ ἤρξατο ἐκθαμβεῖσθαι καὶ ἀδημονεῖν ,
Et assumit Petrum , et Jacobum , et Joannem secum : et coepit pavere et taedere .
ወነሥኦሙ ለጴጥሮስ ወለያዕቆብ ወለዮሐንስ ምስሌሁ ወአኀዘ ይተክዝ ወይኅዝን ።
He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed.
14:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς · περίλυπός ἐστιν ἡ ψυχή μου ἕως θανάτου · μείνατε ὧδε καὶ γρηγορεῖτε .
Et ait illis : Tristis est anima mea usque ad mortem : sustinete hic , et vigilate .
ወይቤሎሙ ተከዘት ነፍስየ እስከ ለሞት ንበሩ ዝየ ወትግሁ እንከ ።
He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”
14:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ προελθὼν μικρὸν ἔπιπτεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς , καὶ προσηύχετο ἵνα εἰ δυνατόν ἐστιν παρέλθῃ ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ἡ ὥρα ,
Et cum processisset paululum , procidit super terram , et orabat ut , si fieri posset , transiret ab eo hora .
ወእምዝ ተአተተ ሕቀ ወሰገደ ውስተ ምድር ወጸለየ ከመ ትኅልፍ እምኔሁ ይእቲ ሰዓት ለእመ ይትከሀል ።
He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.
14:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔλεγεν · ἀββᾶ ὁ πατήρ , πάντα δυνατά σοι · παρένεγκε τὸ ποτήριον τοῦτο ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ · ἀλλ’ οὐ τί ἐγὼ θέλω ἀλλὰ τί σύ .
Et dixit : Abba pater , omnia tibi possibilia sunt : transfer calicem hunc a me : sed non quod ego volo , sed quod tu .
ወይቤ አባ ወአቡየ ኵሉ ይትከሀለከ አኅልፋ እምኔየ ለዛቲ ጽዋዕ ወባሕቱ ፈቃደ ዚኣከ ለይኩን ወአኮ ፈቃደ ዚኣየ ።
He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire.”
14:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔρχεται καὶ εὑρίσκει αὐτοὺς καθεύδοντας , καὶ λέγει τῷ Πέτρῳ · Σίμων , καθεύδεις ; οὐκ ἴσχυσας μίαν ὥραν γρηγορῆσαι ;
Et venit , et invenit eos dormientes . Et ait Petro : Simon , dormis ? non potuisti una hora vigilare ?
ወገቢኦ ረከቦሙ እንዘ ይነውሙ ወይቤሎ ለጴጥሮስ ስምዖን ትነውምኑ ወኢትክል ተዐግሦ አሐተ ሰዓተ ።
He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you watch one hour?
14:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ γρηγορεῖτε καὶ προσεύχεσθε , ἵνα μὴ ἔλθητε εἰς πειρασμόν . τὸ μὲν πνεῦμα πρόθυμον , ἡ δὲ σὰρξ ἀσθενής .
vigilate et orate , ut non intretis in tentationem . Spiritus quidem promptus est , caro vero infirma .
ትግሁ ወጸልዩ ከመ ኢትባኡ ውስተ መንሱት እስመ መንፈስ ይፈቅድ ወሥጋ ይደክም ።
Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
14:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ πάλιν ἀπελθὼν προσηύξατο τὸν αὐτὸν λόγον εἰπών .
Et iterum abiens oravit , eumdem sermonem dicens .
ወሖረ ካዕበ ወጸለየ ወኪያሁ ክመ ይቤ ።
Again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.
14:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὑποστρέψας εὗρεν αὐτοὺς πάλιν καθεύδοντας · ἦσαν γὰρ αὐτῶν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ καταβαρυνόμενοι , καὶ οὐκ ᾔδεισαν τί ἀποκριθῶσιν αὐτῷ .
Et reversus , denuo invenit eos dormientes (erant enim oculi eorum gravati ), et ignorabant quid responderent ei .
ወገቢኦ ካዕበ ረከቦሙ እንዘ ይነውሙ እስመ ከብዳ አዕይንቲሆሙ ወኢየአምሩ ዘይነብቡ ።
Again he returned and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they didn’t know what to answer him.
14:41 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἔρχεται τὸ τρίτον καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς · καθεύδετε τὸ λοιπὸν καὶ ἀναπαύεσθε · ἀπέχει · ἦλθεν ἡ ὥρα , ἰδοὺ παραδίδοται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου εἰς τὰς χεῖρας τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν .
Et venit tertio , et ait illis : Dormite jam , et requiescite . Sufficit : venit hora : ecce Filius hominis tradetur in manus peccatorum .
ወመጽአ በሣልስ ወይቤሎሙ ኑሙ እንከሰ ወአዕርፉ ምዕረ እስመ ናሁ በጽሐ ጊዜሁ ወናሁ ያገብእዎ ለወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ውስተ እደ ኃጥኣን ።
He came the third time and said to them, “Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
14:42 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐγείρεσθε ἄγωμεν · ἰδοὺ ὁ παραδιδούς με ἤγγισεν .
Surgite , eamus : ecce qui me tradet , prope est .
ተንሥኡ ንሑር ናሁ በጽሐ ዘያገብአኒ ።
Arise! Let’s get going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”
14:43 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ εὐθὺς ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος παραγίνεται Ἰούδας ὁ Ἰσκαριώτης εἷς τῶν δώδεκα , καὶ μετ’ αὐτοῦ ὄχλος μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων παρὰ τῶν ἀρχιερέων καὶ τῶν γραμματέων καὶ πρεσβυτέρων .
Et , adhuc eo loquente , venit Judas Iscariotes unus de duodecim , et cum eo turba multa cum gladiis et lignis , a summis sacerdotibus , et scribis , et senioribus .
ወእንዘ ይትናገሮሙ በጽሐ ሶቤሃ ይሁዳ አስቆሮታዊ አሐዱ እምዐሠርቱ ወክልኤቱ ወምስሌሁ ብዙኃን ሰብእ ምስለ መጣብሕ ወአብትር እምኀበ ሊቃነ ካህናት ወጸሐፍት ወረበናት ።
Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came—and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.
14:44 ⧉ ⤴︎ δεδώκει δὲ ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν σύνσημον αὐτοῖς λέγων · ὃν ἂν φιλήσω , αὐτός ἐστιν · κρατήσατε αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπάγετε ἀσφαλῶς .
Dederat autem traditor ejus signum eis , dicens : Quemcumque osculatus fuero , ipse est , tenete eum , et ducite caute .
ወወሀቦሙ ትእምርተ ዘያገብኦ ወይቤሎሙ ዘሰዐምክዎ ውእቱ አኀዝዎ ወአጽንዕዎ ወሰድዎ ።
Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely.”
14:45 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐλθὼν εὐθὺς προσελθὼν αὐτῷ λέγει · ῥαββεί , καὶ κατεφίλησεν αὐτόν ·
Et cum venisset , statim accedens ad eum , ait : Ave Rabbi : et osculatus est eum .
ወሶቤሃ መጽአ ኀቤሁ ወይቤሎ ረቢ ወሰዐሞ ።
When he had come, immediately he came to him and said, “Rabbi! Rabbi!” and kissed him.
14:46 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ ἐπέβαλον τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῷ καὶ ἐκράτησαν αὐτόν .
At illi manus injecerunt in eum , et tenuerunt eum .
ወሰፍሑ እደዊሆሙ ላዕሌሁ ወአኀዝዎ ።
They laid their hands on him and seized him.
14:47 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἷς δέ τις τῶν παρεστηκότων σπασάμενος τὴν μάχαιραν ἔπαισεν τὸν δοῦλον τοῦ ἀρχιερέως καὶ ἀφεῖλεν αὐτοῦ τὸ ὠτάριον .
Unus autem quidam de circumstantibus educens gladium , percussit servum summi sacerdotis , et amputavit illi auriculam .
ወመልሐ መጥባሕቶ አሐዱ እምእለ ምስሌሁ ይቀውሙ ወዘበጦ ለገብረ ሊቀ ካህናት ወመተሮ እዝኖ ።
But a certain one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
14:48 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · ὡς ἐπὶ λῃστὴν ἐξήλθατε μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων συλλαβεῖν με ·
Et respondens Jesus , ait illis : Tamquam ad latronem existis cum gladiis et lignis comprehendere me ?
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ ከመ ሰራቂኑ ትዴግኑኒ መጻእክሙ ምስለ መጣብሕ ወአብትር ተአኀዙኒ ።
Jesus answered them, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me?
14:49 ⧉ ⤴︎ καθ’ ἡμέραν ἤμην πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ διδάσκων , καὶ οὐκ ἐκρατήσατέ με · ἀλλ’ ἵνα πληρωθῶσιν αἱ γραφαί .
quotidie eram apud vos in templo docens , et non me tenuistis . Sed ut impleantur Scripturae .
ወኵሎ አሚረ ሀሎኩ ምስሌክሙ እሜህር በምኵራብ ወኢአኀዝክሙኒ ወባሕቱ ከመ ይብጻሕ ዘውስተ መጻሕፍት ።
I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me. But this is so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.”
14:50 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἀφέντες αὐτὸν ἔφυγον πάντες .
Tunc discipuli ejus relinquentes eum , omnes fugerunt .
ወኀደግዎ ኵሎሙ አርዳኢሁ ወጐዩ ።
They all left him, and fled.
14:51 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ εἷς τις νεανίσκος συνηκολούθει αὐτῷ περιβεβλημένος σινδόνα ἐπὶ γυμνοῦ , καὶ κρατοῦσιν αὐτόν ·
Adolescens autem quidam sequebatur eum amictus sindone super nudo : et tenuerunt eum .
ወተለዎ አሐዱ ወሬዛ ዘይትዐጸፍ ሰንዱነ ዕራቆ ወአኀዝዎ ወራዙት ።
A certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth thrown around himself over his naked body. The young men grabbed him,
14:52 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ καταλιπὼν τὴν σινδόνα γυμνὸς ἔφυγεν .
At ille rejecta sindone , nudus profugit ab eis .
ወኀደገ ሰንዱኖ ወጐየ ዕራቆ ።
but he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.
14:53 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ἀπήγαγον τὸν Ἰησοῦν πρὸς τὸν ἀρχιερέα , καὶ συνέρχονται πάντες οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς .
Et adduxerunt Jesum ad summum sacerdotem : et convenerunt omnes sacerdotes , et scribae , et seniores .
ወወሰድዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ኀበ ሊቀ ካህናት ወተጋብኡ ኀቤሁ ኵሎሙ ሊቃነ ካህናት ወጸሐፍት ወረበናት ።
They led Jesus away to the high priest. All the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes came together with him.
14:54 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὁ Πέτρος ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἠκολούθησεν αὐτῷ ἕως ἔσω εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως , καὶ ἦν συνκαθήμενος μετὰ τῶν ὑπηρετῶν καὶ θερμαινόμενος πρὸς τὸ φῶς .
Petrus autem a longe secutus est eum usque intro in atrium summi sacerdotis : et sedebat cum ministris ad ignem , et calefaciebat se .
ወተለዎ ጴጥሮስ እምርኁቅ ውስተ ውሳጤ ዐጸደ ሊቀ ካህናት ወነበረ ምስለ ወዓልያኒሆሙ ይስሕን መንገለ በርህ ።
Peter had followed him from a distance, until he came into the court of the high priest. He was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light of the fire.
14:55 ⧉ ⤴︎ Οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ ὅλον τὸ συνέδριον ἐζήτουν κατὰ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ μαρτυρίαν εἰς τὸ θανατῶσαι αὐτόν , καὶ οὐχ εὕρισκον ·
Summi vero sacerdotes et omne concilium quaerebant adversus Jesum testimonium ut eum morti traderent : nec inveniebant .
ወኀሠሡ ሊቃነ ካህናት ወኵሉ ዐውድ ሰማዕተ ሐሰት በዘያስተዋድይዎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ከመ ይቅትልዎ ወኀጥኡ ።
Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witnesses against Jesus to put him to death, and found none.
14:56 ⧉ ⤴︎ πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐψευδομαρτύρουν κατ’ αὐτοῦ , καὶ ἴσαι αἱ μαρτυρίαι οὐκ ἦσαν .
Multi enim testimonium falsum dicebant adversus eum : et convenientia testimonia non erant .
ወብዙኃን እለ አስተዋደይዎ በሐሰት ወኢኀብረ ቃሎሙ ።
For many gave false testimony against him, and their testimony didn’t agree with each other.
14:57 ⧉ ⤴︎ καί τινες ἀναστάντες ἐψευδομαρτύρουν κατ’ αὐτοῦ λέγοντες
Et quidam surgentes , falsum testimonium ferebant adversus eum , dicentes :
ወቦ እለ ተንሥኡ ሰማዕተ ሐሰት ወነበቡ ።
Some stood up and gave false testimony against him, saying,
14:58 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅτι ἡμεῖς ἠκούσαμεν αὐτοῦ λέγοντος ὅτι ἐγὼ καταλύσω τὸν ναὸν τοῦτον τὸν χειροποίητον καὶ διὰ τριῶν ἡμερῶν ἄλλον ἀχειροποίητον οἰκοδομήσω .
Quoniam nos audivimus eum dicentem : Ego dissolvam templum hoc manu factum , et per triduum aliud non manu factum aedificabo .
ወይቤሉ ንሕነ ሰማዕናሁ እንዘ ይብል አነ እነሥቶ ለዝንቱ ቤተ መቅደስ ዘእድ ገብሮ ወበሠሉስ ዕለት አሐንጽ ካልአ ዘእድ ኢገብሮ ።
“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.’”
14:59 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ οὐδὲ οὕτως ἴση ἦν ἡ μαρτυρία αὐτῶν .
Et non erat conveniens testimonium illorum .
ወምስለ ዝኒ ኢኀብረ ስምዖሙ ።
Even so, their testimony didn’t agree.
14:60 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἀναστὰς ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς εἰς μέσον ἐπηρώτησεν τὸν Ἰησοῦν λέγων · οὐκ ἀποκρίνῃ οὐδέν τί οὗτοί σου καταμαρτυροῦσιν ;
Et exsurgens summus sacerdos in medium , interrogavit Jesum , dicens : Non respondes quidquam ad ea quae tibi objiciuntur ab his ?
ወተንሥአ ሊቀ ካህናት በማእከለ ዐውድ ወሐተቶ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎ አልቦኑ ዘትሰጠው እንዘ መጠነዝ ያስተዋድዩከ ።
The high priest stood up in the middle, and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer? What is it which these testify against you?”
14:61 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἐσιώπα καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκρίνατο οὐδέν . πάλιν ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς ἐπηρώτα αὐτὸν καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ , σὺ εἶ ὁ Χριστὸς ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ εὐλογητοῦ ;
Ille autem tacebat , et nihil respondit . Rursum summus sacerdos interrogabat eum , et dixit ei : Tu es Christus Filius Dei benedicti ?
ወአርመመ ወኢተሰጥዎ ወኢምንተኒ ወካዕበ ሐተቶ ሊቀ ካህናት ወይቤሎ አንተኑ ውእቱ ክርስቶስ ወልዱ ለቡሩክ ።
But he stayed quiet, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”
14:62 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν · ἐγώ εἰμι , καὶ ὄψεσθε τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκ δεξιῶν καθήμενον τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ ἐρχόμενον μετὰ τῶν νεφελῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ .
Jesus autem dixit illi : Ego sum : et videbitis Filium hominis sedentem a dextris virtutis Dei , et venientem cum nubibus caeli .
ወይቤሎ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ እወ አነ ውእቱ ወትሬእይዎ ለወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው እንዘ ይነብር በየማነ ኀይል ወይመጽእ በደመና ሰማይ ።
Jesus said, “I am. You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the sky.”
14:63 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἀρχιερεὺς διαρρήξας τοὺς χιτῶνας αὐτοῦ λέγει · τί ἔτι χρείαν ἔχομεν μαρτύρων ;
Summus autem sacerdos scindens vestimenta sua , ait : Quid adhuc desideramus testes ?
ወሠጠጠ አልባሲሁ ሊቀ ካህናት ወይቤ ምንተ እንከ ትፈቅዱ ሎቱ ሰማዕተ ።
The high priest tore his clothes and said, “What further need have we of witnesses?
14:64 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἠκούσατε τῆς βλασφημίας · τί ὑμῖν φαίνενεται ; οἱ δὲ πάντες κατέκριναν αὐτὸν ἔνοχον εἶναι θανάτου .
Audistis blasphemiam : quid vobis videtur ? Qui omnes condemnaverunt eum esse reum mortis .
ናሁ ለሊክሙ ሰማዕክሙ ጽርፈቶ ምንተ እንከ ትብሉ ወአግብኡ ፍትሐ ኵሎሙ ወይቤሉ ይቅትልዎ ።
You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?” They all condemned him to be worthy of death.
14:65 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ἤρξαντό τινες ἐμπτύειν αὐτῷ καὶ περικαλύπτειν αὐτοῦ τὸ πρόσωπον καὶ κολαφίζεν αὐτὸν καὶ λέγειν αὐτῷ · προφήτευσον , καὶ οἱ ὑπηρέται ῥαπίσμασιν αὐτὸν ἔλαβον .
Et coeperunt quidam conspuere eum , et velare faciem ejus , et colaphis eum caedere , et dicere ei : Prophetiza : et ministri alapis eum caedebant .
ወአኀዙ እምውስቴቶሙ ይውርቅዎ ወይጽፍዕዎ ገጾ ወይኵርዕዎ ርእሶ ወይቤልዎ ተነበይ ለነ ክርስቶስ መኑ ጸፍዐከ ወኮኑ ወዐልት ይጸፍዕዎ በሕቁ ።
Some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to tell him, “Prophesy!” The officers struck him with the palms of their hands.
14:66 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ὄντος τοῦ Πέτρου κάτω ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ ἔρχεται μία τῶν παιδισκῶν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως ,
Et cum esset Petrus in atrio deorsum , venit una ex ancillis summi sacerdotis :
ወእንዘ ሀሎ ጴጥሮስ ታሕተ ውስተ ዐጸድ መጽአት አሐቲ ወለት እምአእማተ ሊቀ ካህናት ።
As Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the maids of the high priest came,
14:67 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἰδοῦσα τὸν Πέτρον θερμαινόμενον ἐμβλέψασα αὐτῷ λέγει · καὶ σὺ μετὰ τοῦ Ναζαρηνοῦ ἦσθα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ .
et cum vidisset Petrum calefacientem se , aspiciens illum , ait : Et tu cum Jesu Nazareno eras .
ወርእየቶ ለጴጥሮስ ይስሕን ወነጸረቶ ወትቤሎ አንተሂ ምስለ ኢየሱስ ገሊላዊ ሀሎከ ።
and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You were also with the Nazarene, Jesus!”
14:68 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἠρνήσατο λέγων · οὔτε οἶδα οὔτε ἐπίσταμαι σὺ τί λέγεις . καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω εἰς τὸ προαύλιον , καὶ ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησεν .
At ille negavit , dicens : Neque scio , neque novi quid dicas . Et exiit foras ante atrium , et gallus cantavit .
ወክሕደ ወይቤላ ኢየአምር ወኢይጤይቅ ዘትብሊ ወወፅአ አፍኣ ኀበ ጸናፌ ዐጸድ ወነቀወ ዶርሆ ።
But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are saying.” He went out on the porch, and the rooster crowed.
14:69 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἡ παιδίσκη ἰδοῦσα αὐτὸν ἤρξατο πάλιν λέγειν τοῖς παρεστῶσιν ὅτι οὗτος ἐξ αὐτῶν ἐστιν .
Rursus autem cum vidisset illum ancilla , coepit dicere circumstantibus : Quia hic ex illis est .
ወርእየቶ ካዕበ ካልእት ወለት ወትቤሎሙ ለእለ ይቀውሙ ህየ ዝንቱኒ እምኔሆሙ ውእቱ ወክሕደ ካዕበ ።
The maid saw him and began again to tell those who stood by, “This is one of them.”
14:70 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ πάλιν ἠρνεῖτο . καὶ μετὰ μικρὸν πάλιν οἱ παρεστῶτες ἔλεγον τῷ Πέτρῳ · ἀληθῶς ἐξ αὐτῶν εἶ · καὶ γὰρ Γαλιλαῖος εἶ .
At ille iterum negavit . Et post pusillum rursus qui astabant , dicebant Petro : Vere ex illis es : nam et Galilaeus es .
ወእምድኅረ ሕቅ ካዕበ ይቤልዎ ለጴጥሮስ እለ ይቀውሙ አማን እምኔሆሙ አንተ ወገሊላዊ አንተ ወቃልከ ያዐውቀከ ።
But he again denied it. After a little while again those who stood by said to Peter, “You truly are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it.”
14:71 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἤρξατο ἀναθεματίζειν καὶ ὀμνύναι ὅτι οὐκ οἶδα τὸν ἄνθρωπον τοῦτον ὃν λέγετε .
Ille autem coepit anathematizare et jurare : Quia nescio hominem istum , quem dicitis .
ወአኀዘ ይትረገም ወይምሐል ከመ ኢየአምሮ ለውእቱ ብእሲ ዘትብሉ ወሶቤሃ ነቀወ ካዕበ ዶርሆ ።
But he began to curse and to swear, “I don’t know this man of whom you speak!”
14:72 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εὐθὺς ἐκ δευτέρου ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησεν . καὶ ἀνεμνήσθη ὁ Πέτρος τὸ ῥῆμα ὡς εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι πρὶν ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι δὶς τρίς με ἀπαρνήσῃ . καὶ ἐπιβαλὼν ἔκλαιεν .
Et statim gallus iterum cantavit . Et recordatus est Petrus verbi quod dixerat ei Jesus : Priusquam gallus cantet bis , ter me negabis . Et coepit flere .
ወተዘከረ ጴጥሮስ ቃሎ ለእግዚእ ኢየሱስ ዘይቤሎ ሥልሰ ትክሕደኒ ዘእንበለ ይንቁ ዶርሆ ክልኤ ጊዜ ወበከየ ።
The rooster crowed the second time. Peter remembered the words that Jesus said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” When he thought about that, he wept.
