11:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ἐτέλεσεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς διατάσσων τοῖς δώδεκα μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ , μετέβη ἐκεῖθεν τοῦ διδάσκειν καὶ κηρύσσειν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν .
Et factum est , cum consummasset Jesus , praecipiens duodecim discipulis suis , transiit inde ut doceret , et praedicaret in civitatibus eorum .
ወሶበ ፈጸመ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ አዝዞቶሙ ለዐሠርቱ ወክልኤቱ አርዳኢሁ ኀለፈ እምህየ ከመ ይምሀር ወይስብክ ውስተ አህጉሪሆሙ ።
When Jesus had finished directing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.
11:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ὁ δὲ Ἰωάννης ἀκούσας ἐν τῷ δεσμωτηρίῳ τὰ ἔργα τοῦ Χριστοῦ , πέμψας διὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ
Joannes autem cum audisset in vinculis opera Christi , mittens duos de discipulis suis ,
ወሰሚዖ ዮሐንስ ምግባሮ ለክርስቶስ እንዘ ሀሎ በቤተ ሞቅሕ ፈነወ ኀቤሁ ክልኤተ እምአርዳኢሁ ።
Now when John heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples
11:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἶπεν αὐτῷ · σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἢ ἕτερον προσδοκῶμεν ;
ait illi : Tu es , qui venturus es , an alium exspectamus ?
ወይቤሎ አንተኑ ዘይመጽእ ወቦኑ ካልእ ዘንሴፎ ።
and said to him, “Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?”
11:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · πορευθέντες ἀπαγγείλατε Ἰωάννῃ ἃ ἀκούετε καὶ βλέπετε ·
Et respondens Jesus ait illis : Euntes renuntiate Joanni quae audistis , et vidistis .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ ሐዊረክሙ ዜንውዎ ለዮሐንስ ዘርኢክሙ ወዘሰማዕክሙ ።
Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
11:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ τυφλοὶ ἀναβλέπουσιν καὶ χωλοὶ περιπατοῦσιν , λεπροὶ καθαρίζονται καὶ κωφοὶ ἀκούουσιν , καὶ νεκροὶ ἐγείρονται καὶ πτωχοὶ εὐαγγελίζονται ·
Caeci vident , claudi ambulant , leprosi mundantur , surdi audiunt , mortui resurgunt , pauperes evangelizantur :
ዕዉራን ይሬእዩ ወሐንካሳን የሐውሩ እለ ለምጽ ይነጽሑ ወጽሙማን ይሰምዑ ሙታን ይትነሥኡ ወነዳያን ይዜነዉ ።
the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.
11:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ μακάριός ἐστιν ὃς ἐὰν μὴ σκανδαλισθῇ ἐν ἐμοί .
et beatus est , qui non fuerit scandalizatus in me .
ወብፁዕ ውእቱ ዘኢተዐቅፈ ብየ ።
Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”
11:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τούτων δὲ πορευομένων ἤρξατο ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγειν τοῖς ὄχλοις περὶ Ἰωάννου · τί ἐξήλθατε εἰς τὴν ἔρημον θεάσασθαι ; κάλαμον ὑπὸ ἀνέμου σαλευόμενον ;
Illis autem abeuntibus , coepit Jesus dicere ad turbas de Joanne : Quid existis in desertum videre ? arundinem vento agitatam ?
ወእምድኅረ ኀለፉ ላእካነ ዮሐንስ አኀዘ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ይበሎሙ ለሕዝብ በእንተ ዮሐንስ መጥምቅ ምንተኑመ ወፃእክሙ ገዳመ ትርአዩ ብርዐኑ ዘይትሐወስ እምነፋስ ።
As these went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
11:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀλλὰ τί ἐξήλθατε ἰδεῖν ; ἄνθρωπον ἐν μαλακοῖς ἠμφιεσμένον ; ἰδοὺ οἱ τὰ μαλακὰ φοροῦντες ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις τῶν βασιλέων .
Sed quid existis videre ? hominem mollibus vestitum ? Ecce qui mollibus vestiuntur , in domibus regum sunt .
ወምንተኑመ ወፃእክሙ ትርአዩ ብእሴኑ ዘርሡይ በቀጠንተ አልባስ እለሰ ቀጠንተ ይለብሱ ናሁ ውስተ አብያተ ነገሥት ሀለዉ ።
But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
11:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀλλὰ τί ἐξήλθατε ; προφήτην ἰδεῖν ; ναί λέγω ὑμῖν , καὶ περισσότερον προφήτου .
Sed quid existis videre ? prophetam ? Etiam dico vobis , et plus quam prophetam .
ወምንተኑመ ወፃእክሙ ትርአዩ ነቢየኑ እወ እብለክሙ ውእቱ ፈድፋደ የዐቢ እምነቢያት ።
But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.
11:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὗτός ἐστιν περὶ οὗ γέγραπται · ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω τὸν ἄγγελόν μου πρὸ προσώπου σου , ὃς κατασκευάσει τὴν ὁδόν σου ἔμπροσθέν σου .
Hic est enim de quo scriptum est : Ecce ego mitto angelum meum ante faciem tuam , qui praeparabit viam tuam ante te .
እስመ ዝንቱ ውእቱ ዘበእንቲኣሁ ተጽሕፈ «ናሁ አነ እፌኑ መልአክየ ቅድመ ገጽከ ዘይጸይሕ ፍኖተከ በቅድሜከ ።»
For this is he, of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’
11:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν , οὐκ ἐγήγερται ἐν γεννητοῖς γυναικῶν μείζων Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ · ὁ δὲ μικρότερος ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν μείζων αὐτοῦ ἐστιν .
Amen dico vobis , non surrexit inter natos mulierum major Joanne Baptista : qui autem minor est in regno caelorum , major est illo .
አማን እብለክሙ ኢተንሥአ እምትውልደ አንስት ዘየዐቢ እምዮሐንስ መጥምቅ ወበመንግሥተ ሰማያትሰ ዘይንእሶ የዐብዮ ።
Most certainly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.
11:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἀπὸ δὲ τῶν ἡμερῶν Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ ἕως ἄρτι ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν βιάζεται , καὶ βιασταὶ ἁρπάζουσιν αὐτήν .
A diebus autem Joannis Baptistae usque nunc , regnum caelorum vim patitur , et violenti rapiunt illud .
ወእመዋዕለ ዮሐንስ መጥምቅ እስከ ይእዜ ትትገፋዕ መንግሥተ ሰማያት ወግፉዓን ይትማሠጥዋ ።
From the days of John the Baptizer until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
11:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ πάντες γὰρ οἱ προφῆται καὶ ὁ νόμος ἕως Ἰωάννου ἐπροφήτευσαν ,
Omnes enim prophetae et lex usque ad Joannem prophetaverunt :
እስመ ኵሎሙ ኦሪት ወነቢያት እስከ ዮሐንስ ተነበዩ ።
For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
11:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἰ θέλετε δέξασθαι , αὐτός ἐστιν Ἡλείας ὁ μέλλων ἔρχεσθαι .
et si vultis recipere , ipse est Elias , qui venturus est .
ወእመሰ ትፈቅዱ ትትወከፍዎ ዝ ውእቱ ኤልያስ ዘሀለዎ ይምጻእ ፤
If you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come.
11:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ ἔχων ὦτα ἀκουέτω .
Qui habet aures audiendi , audiat .
ዘቦ እዝን ሰሚዐ ለይስማዕ ፤
He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
11:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τίνι δὲ ὁμοιώσω τὴν γενεὰν ταύτην ; ὁμοία ἐστὶν παιδίοις καθημένοις ἐν ταῖς ἀγοραῖς ἃ προσφωνοῦντα τοῖς ἑτέροις
Cui autem similem aestimabo generationem istam ? Similis est pueris sedentibus in foro : qui clamantes coaequalibus
በመኑ አስተማስሎሙ ለሰብአ ዛቲ ትውልድ ይመስሉ ደቂቀ እለ ይነብሩ ውስተ ምሥያጥ ወይጼውዑ ቢጾሙ ።
“But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companions
11:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγουσιν · ηὐλήσαμεν ὑμῖν καὶ οὐκ ὠρχήσασθε · ἐθρηνήσαμεν καὶ οὐκ ἐκόψασθε .
dicunt : Cecinimus vobis , et non saltastis : lamentavimus , et non planxistis .
ወይብልዎሙ ሐለይነ ለክሙ ወኢዘፈንክሙ አስቈቀውነሂ ለክሙ ወኢበከይክሙ ።
and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned for you, and you didn’t lament.’
11:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἦλθεν γὰρ Ἰωάννης μήτε ἐσθίων μήτε πίνων , καὶ λέγουσιν , δαιμόνιον ἔχει ·
Venit enim Joannes neque manducans , neque bibens , et dicunt : Daemonium habet .
እስመ መጽአ ዮሐንስ እንዘ ኢይበልዕ ወኢይሰቲ ወይቤልዎ ጋኔን ቦቱ ።
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’
11:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἦλθεν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐσθίων καὶ πίνων , καὶ λέγουσιν · ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπος φάγος καὶ οἰνοπότης , τελωνῶν φίλος καὶ ἁμαρτωλῶν . καὶ ἐδικαιώθη ἡ σοφία ἀπὸ τῶν ἔργων αὐτῆς .
Venit Filius hominis manducans , et bibens , et dicunt : Ecce homo vorax , et potator vini , publicanorum et peccatorum amicus . Et justificata est sapientia a filiis suis .
ወመጽአ ወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው እንዘ ይበልዕ ወይሰቲ ወይቤልዎ ነዋ ብእሲ በላዒ ወሰታዬ ወይን ዐርከ መጸብሓን ወኃጥኣን ። ወጸድቀት ጥበብ እምደቂቃ ወእምግባራ ።
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.”
11:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τότε ἤρξατο ὀνειδίζειν τὰς πόλεις ἐν αἷς ἐγένοντο αἱ πλεῖσται δυνάμεις αὐτοῦ , ὅτι οὐ μετενόησαν ·
Tunc coepit exprobrare civitatibus , in quibus factae sunt plurimae virtutes ejus , quia non egissent poenitentiam :
ወእምዝ አኀዘ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ይኂሶን ለአህጉር እለ በውስቴቶን ገብረ ኀይለ ብዙኀ እስመ ኢነስሓ ።
Then he began to denounce the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they didn’t repent.
11:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐαί σοι , Χοραζείν , οὐαί σοι , Βηθσαϊδάν , ὅτι εἰ ἐν Τύρῳ καὶ Σιδῶνι ἐγένοντο αἱ δυνάμεις αἱ γενόμεναι ἐν ὑμῖν , πάλαι ἂν ἐν σάκκῳ καὶ σποδῷ μετενόησαν .
Vae tibi Corozain , vae tibi Bethsaida : quia , si in Tyro et Sidone factae essent virtutes quae factae sunt in vobis , olim in cilicio et cinere poenitentiam egissent .
ወይቤሎን አሌ ለኪ ኰራዚ አሌ ለኪ ቤተ ሰይዳ ሶበሁ በጢሮስ ወበሲዶና ተገብረ ኀይል ዘተገብረ በውስቴትክን በሠቅ ወበሐመድ እምነስሓ ።
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
11:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ πλὴν λέγω ὑμῖν , Τύρῳ καὶ Σιδῶνι ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ ὑμῖν .
Verumtamen dico vobis : Tyro et Sidoni remissius erit in die judicii , quam vobis .
ወባሕቱ እብለክን ጢሮስ ወሲዶና ይረክባ ሣኅተ አመ ዕለተ ደይን ፈድፋደ እምኔክን ።
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
11:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ σύ , Καφαρναούμ , μὴ ἕως οὐρανοῦ ὑψωθήσῃ ; ἕως ᾅδου καταβιβασθήσῃ , ὅτι εἰ ἐν Σοδόμοις ἐγενήθησαν αἱ δυνάμεις αἱ γενόμεναι ἐν σοί , ἔμεινεν ἂν μέχρι τῆς σήμερον .
Et tu Capharnaum , numquid usque in caelum exaltaberis ? usque in infernum descendes , quia si in Sodomis factae fuissent virtutes quae factae sunt in te , forte mansissent usque in hanc diem .
ወአንቲኒ ቅፍርናሆም ለእመ እስከ ሰማይ ትትሌዐሊ ሀለወኪ እስከ ሲኦል ትረዲ ሶበሁ በሰዶም ተገብረ ኀይል ዘተገብረ በውስቴትኪ እምሀለወት እስከ ዮም ።
You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, you will go down to Hades. For if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in you, it would have remained until today.
11:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ πλὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι γῇ Σοδόμων ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ σοί .
Verumtamen dico vobis , quia terrae Sodomorum remissius erit in die judicii , quam tibi .
ወባሕቱ እብለኪ ከመ ምድረ ሰዶም ትረክብ ሣኅተ በዕለተ ደይን እምኔኪ ።
But I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment, than for you.”
11:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ καιρῷ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν · ἐξομολογοῦμαί σοι , πάτερ , κύριε τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς , ὅτι ἔκρυψας ταῦτα ἀπὸ σοφῶν καὶ συνετῶν , καὶ ἀπεκάλυψας αὐτὰ νηπίοις ·
In illo tempore respondens Jesus dixit : Confiteor tibi , Pater , Domine caeli et terrae , quia abscondisti haec a sapientibus , et prudentibus , et revelasti ea parvulis .
ወይእተ ጊዜ አውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤ አአምነከ አባ እግዚአ ሰማያት ወምድር እስመ ኀባእኮ ለዝንቱ እምጠቢባን ወእማእምራን ወከሠትኮ ለሕፃናት ።
At that time, Jesus answered, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.
11:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ ναί ὁ πατήρ , ὅτι οὕτως εὐδοκία ἐγένετο ἔμπροσθέν σου .
Ita Pater : quoniam sic fuit placitum ante te .
እወ አባ እስመ ከማሁ ኮነ ሥምረትከ በቅድሜከ ።
Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.
11:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ Πάντα μοι παρεδόθη ὑπὸ τοῦ πατρός μου , καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐπιγινώσκει τὸν υἱὸν εἰ μὴ ὁ πατήρ , οὐδὲ τὸν πατέρα τις ἐπιγινώσκει εἰ μὴ ὁ υἱὸς καὶ ᾧ ἐὰν βούληται ὁ υἱὸς ἀποκαλύψαι .
Omnia mihi tradita sunt a Patre meo . Et nemo novit Filium , nisi Pater : neque Patrem quis novit , nisi Filius , et cui voluerit Filius revelare .
ኵሉ ተውህበኒ እምኀበ አቡየ ወአልቦ ዘየአምሮ ለወልድ ዘእንበለ አብ ወለአብኒ አልቦ ዘየአምሮ ዘእንበለ ወልድ ወለዘፈቀደ ወልድ ይከሥት ሎቱ ።
All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.
11:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ Δεῦτε πρός με πάντες οἱ κοπιῶντες καὶ πεφορτισμένοι , κἀγὼ ἀναπαύσω ὑμᾶς .
Venite ad me omnes qui laboratis , et onerati estis , et ego reficiam vos .
ንዑ ኀቤየ ኵልክሙ ስሩሓን ወክቡዳነ ጾር ወአነ አዐርፈክሙ ።
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
11:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἄρατε τὸν ζυγόν μου ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς καὶ μάθετε ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ , ὅτι πραΰς εἰμι καὶ ταπεινὸς τῇ καρδίᾳ , καὶ εὑρήσετε ἀνάπαυσιν ταῖς ψυχαῖς ὑμῶν ·
Tollite jugum meum super vos , et discite a me , quia mitis sum , et humilis corde : et invenietis requiem animabus vestris .
ንሥኡ አርዑትየ ላዕሌክሙ ወተመሀሩ እምኔየ ወአእምሩ እስመ የዋህ አነ ወትሑት ልብየ ወትረክቡ ዕረፍተ ለነፍስክሙ ።
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
11:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ γὰρ ζυγός μου χρηστὸς καὶ τὸ φορτίον μου ἐλαφρόν ἐστιν .
Jugum enim meum suave est , et onus meum leve .
እስመ አርዑትየኒ ሠናይ ወጾርየኒ ቀሊል ውእቱ ።
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
