12:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ καιρῷ ἐπορεύθη ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοῖς σάββασιν διὰ τῶν σπορίμων · οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπείνασαν , καὶ ἤρξαντο τίλλειν στάχυας καὶ ἐσθίειν .
In illo tempore abiit Jesus per sata sabbato : discipuli autem ejus esurientes coeperunt vellere spicas , et manducare .
ወበውእቱ መዋዕል ኀለፈ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ በሰንበት እንተ መንገለ ገራውህ ወአርዳኢሁሰ ርኅቡ ወአኀዙ ይምሐዉ ሰዊተ ወይብልዑ ።
At that time, Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the grain fields. His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.
12:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι ἰδόντες εἶπαν αὐτῷ · ἰδοὺ οἱ μαθηταί σου ποιοῦσιν ὃ οὐκ ἔξεστιν ποιεῖν ἐν σαββάτῳ .
Pharisaei autem videntes , dixerunt ei : Ecce discipuli tui faciunt quod non licet facere sabbatis .
ወርእዮሙ ፈሪሳውያን ይቤልዎ ናሁ ርኢ አርዳኢከ ዘይገብሩ ዘኢይከውን ገቢረ በሰንበት ።
But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him, “Behold, your disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”
12:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · οὐκ ἀνέγνωτε τί ἐποίησεν Δαυεὶδ , ὅτε ἐπείνασεν καὶ οἱ μετ’ αὐτοῦ ;
At ille dixit eis : Non legistis quid fecerit David , quando esuriit , et qui cum eo erant :
ወይቤሎሙ ኢያንበብክሙኑ ዘገብረ ዳዊት አመ ርኅበ ውእቱኒ ወእለ ምስሌሁ ።
But he said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him:
12:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ πῶς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως ἔφαγον , ὃ οὐκ ἐξὸν ἦν αὐτῷ φαγεῖν οὐδὲ τοῖς μετ’ αὐτοῦ , εἰ μὴ τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν μόνοις ;
quomodo intravit in domum Dei , et panes propositionis comedit , quos non licebat ei edere , neque his qui cum eo erant , nisi solis sacerdotibus ?
ዘከመ ቦአ ቤቶ ለእግዚአብሔር ወበልዐ ኀባውዘ ቍርባን ዘኢይከውኖ ለበሊዕ ወኢ ለእለ ምስሌሁ ዘእንበለ ለካህናት ለባሕቲቶሙ ።
how he entered into God’s house and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?
12:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἢ οὐκ ἀνέγνωτε ἐν τῷ νόμῳ ὅτι τοῖς σάββασιν οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ τὸ σάββατον βεβηλοῦσιν καὶ ἀναίτιοί εἰσιν ;
aut non legistis in lege quia sabbatis sacerdotes in templo sabbatum violant , et sine crimine sunt ?
ወኢያንበብክሙኑ ዘሀሎ ውስተ ኦሪት ከመ ካህናት እለ ውስተ ቤተ መቅደስ ያረኵስዋ ለሰንበት ወኢይከውኖሙ ጌጋየ ።
Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless?
12:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι τοῦ ἱεροῦ μεῖζόν ἐστιν ὧδε .
Dico autem vobis , quia templo major est hic .
ወአነሂ እብለክሙ ከመ ዘየዐቢ እምቤተ መቅደስ ሀሎ ዝየ ።
But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.
12:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δὲ ἐγνώκειτε τί ἐστιν · ἔλεος θέλω καὶ οὐ θυσίαν , οὐκ ἂν κατεδικάσατε τοὺς ἀναιτίους .
Si autem sciretis , quid est : Misericordiam volo , et non sacrificium : numquam condemnassetis innocentes :
ሶበሰ ተአምሩ ምንት ውእቱ ዘይቤ «ምጽዋተ አበድር እመሥዋዕት » እምኢኰነንክምዎሙ ለእለ ኢአበሱ ።
But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you wouldn’t have condemned the guiltless.
12:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ κύριος γάρ ἐστιν τοῦ σαββάτου ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου .
dominus enim est Filius hominis etiam sabbati .
እስመ ወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ለሊሁ ውእቱ እግዚኣ ለሰንበት ።
For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
12:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ Καὶ μεταβὰς ἐκεῖθεν ἦλθεν εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν αὐτῶν .
Et cum inde transisset , venit in synagogam eorum .
ወፈሊሶ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ እምህየ ቦአ ውስተ ምኵራቦሙ ።
He departed from there and went into their synagogue.
12:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπος χεῖρα ἔχων ξηράν · καὶ ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν λέγοντες · εἰ ἔξεστιν τοῖς σάββασιν θεραπεῦσαι ; ἵνα κατηγορήσωσιν αὐτοῦ .
Et ecce homo manum habens aridam , et interrogabant eum , dicentes : Si licet sabbatis curare ? ut accusarent eum .
ወናሁ ብእሲ ዘየብሰት እዴሁ ወተስእልዎ እንዘ ይብሉ ይከውንኑ በሰንበት ፈውሶ ከመ ያስተዋድይዎ ።
And behold, there was a man with a withered hand. They asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?” so that they might accuse him.
12:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · τίς ἔσται ἐξ ὑμῶν ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἕξει πρόβατον ἕν , καὶ ἐὰν ἐμπέσῃ τοῦτο τοῖς σάββασιν εἰς βόθυνον , οὐχὶ κρατήσει αὐτὸ καὶ ἐγερεῖ ;
Ipse autem dixit illis : Quis erit ex vobis homo , qui habeat ovem unam , et si ceciderit haec sabbatis in foveam , nonne tenebit et levabit eam ?
ወይቤሎሙ መኑ እምውስቴትክሙ ብእሲ ዘቦ አሐዱ በግዕ ወእመ ወድቆ በሰንበት ውስተ ግብ አኮኑ ይእኅዞ ወያነሥኦ ።
He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if this one falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, won’t he grab on to it and lift it out?
12:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ πόσῳ οὖν διαφέρει ἄνθρωπος προβάτου · ὥστε ἔξεστιν τοῖς σάββασιν καλῶς ποιεῖν .
Quanto magis melior est homo ove ? itaque licet sabbatis benefacere .
እፎ እንከ ፈድፋደ ይኄይስ ሰብእ እምነ በግዕ ይከውንኬ በሰንበት ገቢረ ሠናይ ።
Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day.”
12:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ τότε λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ · ἔκτεινόν σου τὴν χεῖρα . καὶ ἐξέτεινεν , καὶ ἀπεκατεστάθη ὑγιὴς ὡς ἡ ἄλλη .
Tunc ait homini : Extende manum tuam . Et extendit , et restituta est sanitati sicut altera .
ወእምዝ ይቤሎ ለውእቱ ብእሲ ስፋሕ እዴከ ወሰፍሐ እዴሁ ወሐይወት ሶቤሃ ወኮነት ከመ ካልእታ ።
Then he told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out; and it was restored whole, just like the other.
12:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐξελθόντες δὲ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι συμβούλιον ἔλαβον κατ’ αὐτοῦ , ὅπως αὐτὸν ἀπολέσωσιν .
Exeuntes autem pharisaei , consilium faciebant adversus eum , quomodo perderent eum .
ወወፂኦሙ ፈሪሳውያን ተማከሩ በእንቲኣሁ ከመ ይቅትልዎ ።
But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how they might destroy him.
12:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς γνοὺς ἀνεχώρησεν ἐκεῖθεν . καὶ ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ πολλοί , καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτοὺς πάντας ,
Jesus autem sciens recessit inde : et secuti sunt eum multi , et curavit eos omnes :
ወአእሚሮ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ተግኅሠ እምህየ ወተለውዎ ብዙኃን ሕዝብ ወአሕየዎሙ ለኵሎሙ ።
Jesus, perceiving that, withdrew from there. Great multitudes followed him; and he healed them all,
12:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐπετίμησεν αὐτοῖς ἵνα μὴ φανερὸν αὐτὸν ποιήσωσιν ·
et praecepit eis ne manifestum eum facerent .
ወገሠጾሙ ከመ ኢያግህድዎ ።
and commanded them that they should not make him known,
12:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ Ἡσαΐου τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος ·
Ut adimpleretur quod dictum est per Isaiam prophetam , dicentem :
ከመ ይትፈጸም ዘተብህለ በኢሳይያስ ነቢይ እንዘ ይብል ።
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
12:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἰδοὺ ὁ παῖς μου ὃν ᾑρέτισα , ὁ ἀγαπητός μου εἰς ὃν ηὐδόκησεν ἡ ψυχή μου · θήσω τὸ πνεῦμά μου ἐπ’ αὐτόν , καὶ κρίσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἀπαγγελεῖ .
Ecce puer meus , quem elegi , dilectus meus , in quo bene complacuit animae meae . Ponam spiritum meum super eum , et judicium gentibus nuntiabit .
«ናሁ ወልድየ ዘኀረይኩ ፍቁርየ ዘሠምረቶ ነፍስየ ወአነብር መንፈስየ ላዕሌሁ ውእቱ ይነግር ፍትሕየ ወኵነኔየ ለአሕዛብ ።
“Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit on him. He will proclaim justice to the nations.
12:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ οὐκ ἐρίσει οὐδὲ κραυγάσει , οὐδὲ ἀκούσει τις ἐν ταῖς πλατείαις τὴν φωνὴν αὐτοῦ .
Non contendet , neque clamabit , neque audiet aliquis in plateis vocem ejus :
ኢይደምፅ ወኢይጸርሕ ወአልቦ ዘይሰምዕ ቃሎ እንዘ ይሜህር በምኵራብ ።
He will not strive, nor shout, neither will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
12:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ κάλαμον συντετριμμένον οὐ κατεάξει καὶ λίνον τυφόμενον οὐ σβέσει , ἕως ἂν ἐκβάλῃ εἰς νῖκος τὴν κρίσιν .
arundinem quassatam non confringet , et linum fumigans non extinguet , donec ejiciat ad victoriam judicium :
ብርዐ ቅጥቁጠ ኢይሰብር ወሱዐኒ ዘይጠይስ ኢያጠፍእ እስከ ያገብእ ፍትሐ መዊኦቱ ።
He won’t break a bruised reed. He won’t quench a smoking flax, until he leads justice to victory.
12:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ ἔθνη ἐλπιοῦσιν .
et in nomine ejus gentes sperabunt .
ወበስመ ዚኣሁ አሕዛብ ይትአመኑ ።»
In his name, the nations will hope.”
12:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τότε προσηνέχθη αὐτῷ δαιμονιζόμενος τυφλὸς καὶ κωφός · καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτόν , ὥστε τὸν κωφὸν λαλεῖν καὶ βλέπειν .
Tunc oblatus est ei daemonium habens , caecus , et mutus , et curavit eum ita ut loqueretur , et videret .
ወእምዝ አምጽኡ ሎቱ ዘጋኔን ዕዉረ ወጽሙመ ወበሃመ ወፈወሶ እስከ ውእቱ ዕዉር ወጽሙም ወበሃም ነበበሂ ወርእየሂ ወሰምዐሂ ።
Then one possessed by a demon, blind and mute, was brought to him; and he healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.
12:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐξίσταντο πάντες οἱ ὄχλοι καὶ ἔλεγον · μήτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς Δαυείδ ;
Et stupebant omnes turbae , et dicebant : Numquid hic est filius David ?
ወይዴመሙ ኵሎሙ አሕዛብ ወይቤሉ አኮኑ ዝንቱ ወልደ ዳዊት ።
All the multitudes were amazed, and said, “Can this be the son of David?”
12:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες εἶπον · οὗτος οὐκ ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια εἰ μὴ ἐν τῷ Βεελζεβοὺλ ἄρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων .
Pharisaei autem audientes , dixerunt : Hic non ejicit daemones nisi in Beelzebub principe daemoniorum .
ወፈሪሳውያንሰ ሰሚዖሙ ይቤሉ ዝንቱሰ ኢያወፅእ አጋንንተ ዘእንበለ በብዔል ዜቡል መልአኮሙ ለአጋንንት ።
But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “This man does not cast out demons except by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”
12:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰδὼς δὲ τὰς ἐνθυμήσεις αὐτῶν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · πᾶσα βασιλεία μερισθεῖσα καθ’ ἑαυτῆς ἐρημοῦται , καὶ πᾶσα πόλις ἢ οἰκία μερισθεῖσα καθ’ ἑαυτῆς οὐ σταθήσεται .
Jesus autem sciens cogitationes eorum , dixit eis : Omne regnum divisum contra se desolabitur : et omnis civitas vel domus divisa contra se , non stabit .
ወአእሚሮ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ኅሊናሆሙ ይቤሎሙ ኵላ መንግሥት እንተ ትትናፈቅ በበይናቲሃ ትማስን ወኢትቀውም ወኵላ ሀገር ወእመሂ ቤት እንተ ትትናፈቅ በበይናቲሃ ኢትቀውም ።
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.
12:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἰ ὁ σατανᾶς τὸν σατανᾶν ἐκβάλλει , ἐφ’ ἑαυτὸν ἐμερίσθη · πῶς οὖν σταθήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ ;
Et si Satanas Satanam ejicit , adversus se divisus est : quomodo ergo stabit regnum ejus ?
ወእመሰ ሰይጣን ለሰይጣን ያወፅኦ ተናፈቀኬ በበይናቲሁ እፎ እንከ ትቀውም መንግሥቱ ።
If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
12:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ εἰ ἐγὼ ἐν Βεελζεβοὺλ ἐκβάλλω τὰ δαιμόνια , οἱ υἱοὶ ὑμῶν ἐν τίνι ἐκβάλλουσιν ; διὰ τοῦτο αὐτοὶ κριταὶ ἔσονται ὑμῶν .
Et si ego in Beelzebub ejicio daemones , filii vestri in quo ejiciunt ? ideo ipsi judices vestri erunt .
ወእመሰ አነ በብዔል ዜቡል አወፅኦሙ ለአጋንንት ውሉድክሙ በምንት ያወፅእዎሙ ወበእንተዝ እሙንቱ ፈታሕተ ይከውኑክሙ ።
If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.
12:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ εἰ δὲ ἐν πνεύματι θεοῦ ἐγὼ ἐκβάλλω τὰ δαιμόνια , ἄρα ἔφθασεν ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ .
Si autem ego in Spiritu Dei ejicio daemones , igitur pervenit in vos regnum Dei .
ወእመሰ አነ በመንፈሰ እግዚአብሔር አወፅኦሙ ለአጋንንት ዮጊኬ በጽሐት ላዕሌክሙ መንግሥተ እግዚአብሔር ።
But if I by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come upon you.
12:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἢ πῶς δύναταί τις εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν τοῦ ἰσχυροῦ καὶ τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ἁρπάσαι , ἐὰν μὴ πρῶτον δήσῃ τὸν ἰσχυρόν , καὶ τότε τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ διαρπάσῃ ;
Aut quomodo potest quisquam intrare in domum fortis , et vasa ejus diripere , nisi prius alligaverit fortem ? et tunc domum illius diripiet .
ወአልቦ ዘይክል መኑሂ በዊአ ቤተ ኀያል ወበርብሮተ ንዋዩ ለእመ ኢቀደመ አሲሮቶ ለኀያል ወእምዝ ቤቶ ይበረብር ።
Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man and plunder his goods, unless he first bind the strong man? Then he will plunder his house.
12:30 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ μὴ ὢν μετ’ ἐμοῦ κατ’ ἐμοῦ ἐστιν , καὶ ὁ μὴ συνάγων μετ’ ἐμοῦ σκορπίζει .
Qui non est mecum , contra me est ; et qui non congregat mecum , spargit .
ዘኢኮነ ምስሌየ ዕድውየ ውእቱ ወዘኢይትጋባእ ምስሌየ ይዘርወኒ
“He who is not with me is against me, and he who doesn’t gather with me, scatters.
12:31 ⧉ ⤴︎ Διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν , πᾶσα ἁμαρτία καὶ βλασφημία ἀφεθήσεται τοῖς ἀνθρώποις , ἡ δὲ τοῦ πνεύματος βλασφημία οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται .
Ideo dico vobis : Omne peccatum et blasphemia remittetur hominibus , Spiritus autem blasphemia non remittetur .
በእንተዝ እብለክሙ ኵሉ ኀጢአት ወፅርፈት ይትኀደግ ለሰብእ ወዘሰ ፀረፈ ላዕለ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ኢይትኀደግ ሎቱ ።
Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.
12:32 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὃς ἐὰν εἴπῃ λόγον κατὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου , ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ · ὃς δ’ ἂν εἴπῃ κατὰ τοῦ πνεύματος τοῦ ἁγίου , οὐκ ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ οὔτε ἐν τούτῳ τῷ αἰῶνι οὔτε ἐν τῷ μέλλοντι .
Et quicumque dixerit verbum contra Filium hominis , remittetur ei : qui autem dixerit contra Spiritum Sanctum , non remittetur ei , neque in hoc saeculo , neque in futuro .
ወዘሰ ነበበ ቃለ ላዕለ ወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ይትኀደግ ሎቱ ወዘሰ ነበበ ላዕለ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ኢይትኀደግ ሎቱ ኢበ ዝ ዓለም ወኢ በዘይመጽእ ።
Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in that which is to come.
12:33 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἢ ποιήσατε τὸ δένδρον καλὸν καὶ τὸν καρπὸν αὐτοῦ καλόν , ἢ ποιήσατε τὸ δένδρον σαπρὸν καὶ τὸν καρπὸν αὐτοῦ σαπρόν · ἐκ γὰρ τοῦ καρποῦ τὸ δένδρον γινώσκεται .
Aut facite arborem bonam , et fructum ejus bonum : aut facite arborem malam , et fructum ejus malum : siquidem ex fructu arbor agnoscitur .
እመ አኮ ግበሩ ዕፀ ሠናየ ወፍሬሁኒ ሠናየ ወእመ አኮ ግበሩ ዕፀ እኩየ ወፍሬሁኒ እኩየ እስመ እምፍሬሁ ይትዐወቅ ዕፅ ።
“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit.
12:34 ⧉ ⤴︎ γεννήματα ἐχιδνῶν , πῶς δύνασθε ἀγαθὰ λαλεῖν πονηροὶ ὄντες ; ἐκ γὰρ τοῦ περισσεύματος τῆς καρδίας τὸ στόμα λαλεῖ .
Progenies viperarum , quomodo potestis bona loqui , cum sitis mali ? ex abundantia enim cordis os loquitur .
ኦ ትውልደ አራዊተ ምድር በእፎ ትክሉ ሠናየ ተናግሮ እንዘ እኩያን አንትሙ እስመ እምተረፈ ልብ ይነብብ አፍ ።
You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
12:35 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ ἀγαθὸς ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ ἀγαθοῦ θησαυροῦ ἐκβάλλει τὰ ἀγαθά , καὶ ὁ πονηρὸς ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ πονηροῦ θησαυροῦ ἐκβάλλει πονηρά .
Bonus homo de bono thesauro profert bona : et malus homo de malo thesauro profert mala .
ኄር ብእሲ እምሠናይ መዝገበ ልቡ ያውፅኣ ለሠናያት ወእኩይሰ ብእሲ እምእኩይ መዝገበ ልቡ ያወፅኣ ለእኪት ።
The good man out of his good treasure brings out good things, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings out evil things.
12:36 ⧉ ⤴︎ λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶν ῥῆμα ἀργὸν ὃ λαλήσουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι ἀποδώσουσιν περὶ αὐτοῦ λόγον ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως .
Dico autem vobis quoniam omne verbum otiosum , quod locuti fuerint homines , reddent rationem de eo in die judicii .
አንሰ እብለክሙ ኵሉ ሰብእ ዘይነብብ ንባበ ፅሩዐ ያገብኡ ሎቱ ቃለ በዕለተ ደይን ።
I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
12:37 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐκ γὰρ τῶν λόγων σου δικαιωθήσῃ , καὶ ἐκ τῶν λόγων σου καταδικασθήσῃ .
Ex verbis enim tuis justificaberis et ex verbis tuis condemnaberis .
እስመ እምቃልከ ትጸድቅ ወእምቃልከ ትትኴነን ።
For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
12:38 ⧉ ⤴︎ Τότε ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ τινες τῶν γραμματέων καὶ Φαρισαίων λέγοντες · διδάσκαλε , θέλομεν ἀπὸ σοῦ σημεῖον ἰδεῖν .
Tunc responderunt ei quidam de scribis et pharisaeis , dicentes : Magister , volumus a te signum videre .
ወአሜሃ መጽኡ ሰብእ እምጸሐፍት ወእምፈሪሳውያን ወይቤልዎ ሊቅ ንፈቅድ እምኀቤከ ትእምርተ ንርአይ ።
Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
12:39 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς · γενεὰ πονηρὰ καὶ μοιχαλὶς σημεῖον ἐπιζητεῖ , καὶ σημεῖον οὐ δοθήσεται αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ τὸ σημεῖον Ἰωνᾶ τοῦ προφήτου .
Qui respondens ait illis : Generatio mala et adultera signum quaerit : et signum non dabitur ei , nisi signum Jonae prophetae .
ወአውሥአ እግዚእ ኢየሱስ ወይቤሎሙ ትውልድ ዕሉት ዐማፂት ወዘማዊት ትእምርተ ተኀሥሥ ወትእምርትሰ ኢይትወሀባ ዘእንበለ ትእምርተ ዮናስ ነቢይ ።
But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
12:40 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὥσπερ γὰρ ἦν Ἰωνᾶς ἐν τῇ κοιλίᾳ τοῦ κήτους τρεῖς ἡμέρας καὶ τρεῖς νύκτας , οὕτως ἔσται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ τῆς γῆς τρεῖς ἡμέρας καὶ τρεῖς νύκτας .
Sicut enim fuit Jonas in ventre ceti tribus diebus , et tribus noctibus , sic erit Filius hominis in corde terrae tribus diebus et tribus noctibus .
እስመ በከመ ነበረ ዮናስ ውስተ ከርሠ ዐንበሪ ሠሉሰ መዋዕለ ወሠሉሰ ለያልየ ከማሁ ይነብር ወልደ ዕጓለ እመሕያው ውስተ ልበ ምድር ሠሉሰ መዋዕለ ወሠሉሰ ለያልየ ።
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
12:41 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἄνδρες Νινευεῖται ἀναστήσονται ἐν τῇ κρίσει μετὰ τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης καὶ κατακρινοῦσιν αὐτήν , ὅτι μετενόησαν εἰς τὸ κήρυγμα Ἰωνᾶ , καὶ ἰδοὺ πλεῖον Ἰωνᾶ ὧδε .
Viri Ninivitae surgent in judicio cum generatione ista , et condemnabunt eam : quia poenitentiam egerunt in praedicatione Jonae , et ecce plus quam Jonas hic .
ሰብአ ነነዌ ይትነሥኡ አመ ዕለተ ደይን ወይትፋትሕዋ ለዛቲ ትውልድ ወያስተኀፍርዋ እስመ ነስሑ በስብከተ ዮናስ ወናሁ ዘየዐቢ እምዮናስ ሀሎ ዝየ ።
The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, someone greater than Jonah is here.
12:42 ⧉ ⤴︎ βασίλισσα νότου ἐγερθήσεται ἐν τῇ κρίσει μετὰ τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης καὶ κατακρινεῖ αὐτήν , ὅτι ἦλθεν ἐκ τῶν περάτων τῆς γῆς ἀκοῦσαι τὴν σοφίαν Σολομῶνος , καὶ ἰδοὺ πλεῖον Σολομῶνος ὧδε .
Regina austri surget in judicio cum generatione ista , et condemnabit eam : quia venit a finibus terrae audire sapientiam Salomonis , et ecce plus quam Salomon hic .
ንግሥተ አዜብ ትትነሣእ አመ ዕለተ ደይን ወትትፋታሕ ምስለ ዛ ትውልድ ወታስተኀፍራ እስመ መጽአት እምአጽናፈ ምድር ትስማዕ ጥበቢሁ ለሰሎሞን ወናሁ ዘየዐቢ እምሰሎሞን ሀሎ ዝየ ።
The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, someone greater than Solomon is here.
12:43 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ὅταν δὲ τὸ ἀκάθαρτον πνεῦμα ἐξέλθῃ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου , διέρχεται δι’ ἀνύδρων τόπων ζητοῦν ἀνάπαυσιν , καὶ οὐχ εὑρίσκει .
Cum autem immundus spiritus exierit ab homine , ambulat per loca arida , quaerens requiem , et non invenit .
ወእምከመ ወፅአ መንፈስ ርኩስ እምሰብእ የዐውድ በድወ ኀበ አልቦ ማይ እንዘ የኀሥሥ ዕረፍተ ወየኀጥእ ።
“When an unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking rest, and doesn’t find it.
12:44 ⧉ ⤴︎ τότε λέγει · εἰς τὸν οἶκόν μου ἐπιστρέψω ὅθεν ἐξῆλθον . καὶ ἐλθὸν εὑρίσκει σχολάζοντα καὶ σεσαρωμένον καὶ κεκοσμημένον .
Tunc dicit : Revertar in domum meam , unde exivi . Et veniens invenit eam vacantem , scopis mundatam , et ornatam .
ወእምዝ ይብል እገብእ እንከሰ ውስተ ቤትየ እምኀበ ወፃእኩ ወመጺኦ ይረክቦ እንዘ ያስተራክብ እዳወ ዕሩቀ ወኵስቱረ ወምሩገ ።
Then he says, ‘I will return into my house from which I came;’ and when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.
12:45 ⧉ ⤴︎ τότε πορεύεται καὶ παραλαμβάνει μεθ’ ἑαυτοῦ ἑπτὰ ἕτερα πνεύματα πονηρότερα ἑαυτοῦ , καὶ εἰσελθόντα κατοικεῖ ἐκεῖ , καὶ γίνεται τὰ ἔσχατα τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκείνου χείρονα τῶν πρώτων . οὕτως ἔσται καὶ τῇ γενεᾷ ταύτῃ τῇ πονηρᾷ .
Tunc vadit , et assumit septem alios spiritus secum nequiores se , et intrantes habitant ibi : et fiunt novissima hominis illius pejora prioribus . Sic erit et generationi huic pessimae .
ወእምዝ የሐውር ወያመጽእ ምስሌሁ ካልኣነ ሰብዐተ አጋንንተ እለ የአክዩ እምኔሁ ወበዊኦሙ የኀድሩ ህየ ወይከውን ደኃሪቱ ለውእቱ ብእሲ ዘየአኪ እምቀዳሚቱ ከማሁ ይከውና ለዛቲ ትውልድ እኪት ።
Then he goes and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation.”
12:46 ⧉ ⤴︎ Ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος τοῖς ὄχλοις , ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ εἱστήκεισαν ἔξω ζητοῦντες αὐτῷ λαλῆσαι .
Adhuc eo loquente ad turbas , ecce mater ejus et fratres stabant foris , quaerentes loqui ei .
ወእንዘ ይነግሮሙ ዘንተ ለሕዝብ ናሁ እሙ ወአኀዊሁ ይቀውሙ አፍኣ እንዘ ይፈቅዱ ይትናገርዎ ።
While he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, seeking to speak to him.
12:47 ⧉ ⤴︎ [εἶπεν δέ τις αὐτῷ · ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἔξω ἑστήκασιν ζητοῦντές σοι λαλῆσαι .]
Dixit autem ei quidam : Ecce mater tua , et fratres tui foris stant quaerentes te .
ወመጽአ አሐዱ እምአርዳኢሁ ወይቤሎ ናሁ እምከ ወአኀዊከ አፍኣ ይቀውሙ ወየኀሥሡ ይትናገሩከ ።
One said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to you.”
12:48 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν τῷ λέγοντι αὐτῷ · τίς ἐστιν ἡ μήτηρ μου , καὶ τίνες εἰσὶν οἱ ἀδελφοί μου ;
At ipse respondens dicenti sibi , ait : Quae est mater mea , et qui sunt fratres mei ?
ወአውሥአ ወይቤሎ ለዘነገሮ መኑ ይእቲ እምየ ወእለ መኑ እሙንቱ አኀውየ ።
But he answered him who spoke to him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
12:49 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἐπὶ τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν · ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου ·
Et extendens manum in discipulos suos , dixit : Ecce mater mea , et fratres mei .
ወሰፍሐ እዴሁ ወአመረ ኀበ አርዳኢሁ ወይቤ ነዮሙ እምየ ወአኀውየ ።
He stretched out his hand toward his disciples, and said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers!
12:50 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὅστις γὰρ ἂν ποιήσῃ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς , αὐτός μου ἀδελφὸς καὶ ἀδελφὴ καὶ μήτηρ ἐστίν .
Quicumque enim fecerit voluntatem Patris mei , qui in caelis est , ipse meus frater , et soror , et mater est .
እስመ ኵሉ ዘይገብር ፈቃዶ ለአቡየ ዘበሰማያት ውእቱ እኁየኒ ወእኅትየኒ ወእምየኒ ውእቱ ።
For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
