ἐργάτης μέθυσος οὐ πλουτισθήσεται ὁ ἐξουθενῶν τὰ ὀλίγα κατὰ μικρὸν πεσεῖται
Operarius ebriosus non locupletabitur : et qui spernit modica paulatim decidet.
ሠያጢ፡ ወሰካሪ፡ ኢይብዕል፡ ዘያሰትት፡ ኅዳጠ፡ ብዙኀ፡ የሀጕል።
A workman that is a drunkard will not become rich: He that despises small things will fall by little and little.
19:2
οἶνος καὶ γυναῖκες ἀποστήσουσιν συνετούς καὶ ὁ κολλώμενος πόρναις τολμηρότερος ἔσται
Vinum et mulieres apostatare faciunt sapientes, et arguent sensatos.
ስታይ፡ ወአንስት፡ ያስሕቶ፡ ለጠቢብ፡ ወዘይተልዋ፡ ለዘማ፡ ጊጉይ፡ ውእቱ።
Wine and women will make men of understanding to fall away: And he that cleaves to harlots will be the more reckless.
19:3
σήπη καὶ σκώληκες κληρονομήσουσιν αὐτόν καὶ ψυχὴ τολμηρὰ ἐξαρθήσεται
Et qui se jungit fornicariis erit nequam : putredo et vermes hæreditabunt illum : et extolletur in exemplum majus, et tolletur de numero anima ejus.
ወለዝ፡ ደኃሪቱ፡ ዕፄ፡ ወሙስና፡ ነፍስ፡ ዝልፍት፡ ኢትዜውር።
Moths and worms will have him to heritage; And a reckless soul will be taken away.
19:4
ὁ ταχὺ ἐμπιστεύων κοῦφος καρδίᾳ καὶ ὁ ἁμαρτάνων εἰς ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ πλημμελήσει
Qui credit cito levis corde est, et minorabitur : et qui delinquit in animam suam, insuper habebitur.
ዘፍጡነ፡ የአምን፡ ቀሊል፡ ልቡ፡ ወዘይግበር፡ ኀጢአተ፡ ላዕለ፡ ነፍሱ፡ ይኤብስ።
He that is hasty to trust is light-minded; And he that sins will offend against his own soul.
19:5
ὁ εὐφραινόμενος καρδίᾳ καταγνωσθήσεται
Qui gaudet iniquitate, denotabitur : et qui odit correptionem, minuetur vita : et qui odit loquacitatem, extinguit malitiam.
ዘያስተፌግዕ፡ ልቦ፡ ይትነከር፡ ወዘይጸልእ፡ ብዙኀ፡ ነቢበ፡ ያሐጽጻ፡ ለኃጢአቱ።
He that makes merry in his heart will be condemned:
19:6
καὶ ὁ μισῶν λαλιὰν ἐλαττονοῦται κακίᾳ
Qui peccat in animam suam, pœnitebit : et qui jucundatur in malitia, denotabitur.

And he that hates talk has the less wickedness.
19:7
μηδέποτε δευτερώσῃς λόγον καὶ οὐθέν σοι οὐ μὴ ἐλαττονωθῇ
Ne iteres verbum nequam et durum, et non minoraberis.
ኢታውጽእ፡ ቃለ፡ ዘሰማዕከ፡ ወኢትድግም፡ ወለዝላፉ፡ ኢይብእሰከ።
Never repeat what is told you, And you will fare never the worse.
19:8
ἐν φίλῳ καὶ ἐχθρῷ μὴ διηγοῦ καὶ εἰ μή ἐστίν σοι ἁμαρτία μὴ ἀποκάλυπτε
Amico et inimico noli narrare sensum tuum : et si est tibi delictum, noli denudare :
በኀበ፡ ዐርክ፡ ወጸላኢ፡ አልቦ፡ ዘትትናገር፡ ወኢታይድዕ፡ አበሳከ፡ ዘሰማዕከ።
Whether it be of friend or foe, tell it not; And unless it is a sin to you, reveal it not.
19:9
ἀκήκοεν γάρ σου καὶ ἐφυλάξατό σε καὶ ἐν καιρῷ μισήσει σε
audiet enim te, et custodiet te, et quasi defendens peccatum, odiet te, et sic aderit tibi semper.
እስመ፡ ለእመ፡ ከመ፡ ሰምዐ፡ ኢየኀብእ፡ ለከ፡ ወያጸንሐከ።
For he has heard you, and observed you, And when the time comes he will hate you.
19:10
ἀκήκοας λόγον συναποθανέτω σοι θάρσει οὐ μή σε ῥήξει
Audisti verbum adversus proximum tuum ? commoriatur in te, fidens quoniam non te dirumpet.
እስከ፡ አመ፡ ትመውት፡ ኢታውጽእ፡ ነገረ፡ ዘሰማዕከ፡ ወተአመን፡ እንከ፡ ከመ፡ ሕሡም፡ አልቦ፡ ዘይረክበከ።
Hast you heard a word? let it die with you: Be of good courage, it will not burst you.
19:11
ἀπὸ προσώπου λόγου ὠδινήσει μωρὸς ὡς ἀπὸ προσώπου βρέφους ἡ τίκτουσα
A facie verbi parturit fatuus, tamquam gemitus partus infantis.
የዐነብዝ፡ አብድ፡ እስከ፡ ይነግር፡ ቃለ፡ ዘሰምዐ፡ ወይትዌፃኅ፡ ከመ፡ ማሕምም፡ እንተ፡ ትወልድ፡ ሕፃነ።
A fool will travail in pain with a word, As a woman in labor with a child.
19:12
βέλος πεπηγὸς ἐν μηρῷ σαρκός οὕτως λόγος ἐν κοιλίᾳ μωροῦ
Sagitta infixa femori carnis, sic verbum in corde stulti.
ወከመ፡ ይጔጕእ፡ ዘተነድፈ፡ ይምላኅ፡ ሐጸ፡ እምላዕሌሁ፡ ከማሁ፡ ይጔጕእ፡ አብድ፡ ያውጽእ፡ ቃለ፡ ዘሰምዐ።
As an arrow that sticks in the flesh of the thigh, So is a word in a fool’s belly.
19:13
ἔλεγξον φίλον μήποτε οὐκ ἐποίησεν καὶ εἴ τι ἐποίησεν μήποτε προσθῇ
Corripe amicum, ne forte non intellexerit, et dicat : Non feci : aut, si fecerit, ne iterum addat facere.
ገሥጾ፡ ለዐርክከ፡ ዮጊ፡ ኢገብረ፡ ወእመኒ፡ ገብረ፡ ከመ፡ ኢይደግም።
Reprove a friend; it may be he did it not: And if he did something, that he may do it no more.
19:14
ἔλεγξον τὸν πλησίον μήποτε οὐκ εἶπεν καὶ εἰ εἴρηκεν ἵνα μὴ δευτερώσῃ
Corripe proximum, ne forte non dixerit : et si dixerit, ne forte iteret.
ገሥጾ፡ ለዐርክክ፡ ዮጊ፡ ኢነበበ፡ ወእመኒ፡ ነበበ፡ ከመ፡ ኢይድግም።
Reprove your neighbor; it may be he said it not: And if he has said it, that he may not say it again.
19:15
ἔλεγξον φίλον πολλάκις γὰρ γίνεται διαβολή καὶ μὴ παντὶ λόγῳ πίστευε
Corripe amicum, sæpe enim fit commissio :
ገሥፆ፡ ለዐርክክ፡ ዮጊ፡ በጽልእ፡ አስተዋደይዎ፡ ወኢትትአመን፡ ኵሎ፡ ቃለ፡ ዘነገሩከ።
Reprove a friend; for many times there is slander: And trust not every word.
19:16
ἔστιν ὀλισθάνων καὶ οὐκ ἀπὸ ψυχῆς καὶ τίς οὐχ ἥμαρτεν ἐν τῇ γλώσσῃ αὐτοῦ
et non omni verbo credas. Est qui labitur lingua, sed non ex animo :
እስመቦ፡ ዘይስሕት፡ እንዘ፡ ኢይፈቅድ፡ እምልቡ፡ ወመኑ፡ ውእቱ፡ ዘኢይስሕት፡ በአፉሁ።
There is one that slips, and not from the heart: And who is he that has not sinned with his tongue?
19:17
ἔλεγξον τὸν πλησίον σου πρὶν ἢ ἀπειλῆσαι καὶ δὸς τόπον νόμῳ ὑψίστου
quis est enim qui non deliquerit in lingua sua ? Corripe proximum antequam commineris,
ገሥጾ፡ ለዐርክከ፡ እንበለ፡ ይትነዋኅ፡ መዐት፡ አኅልፋ፡ ለመዐት፡ እኪት፡ እንበይነ፡ ሕገ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
Reprove your neighbor before you threaten him; And give place to the law of the Most High.
19:18—
et da locum timori Altissimi : quia omnis sapientia timor Dei, et in illa timere Deum, et in omni sapientia dispositio legis.
—
And give place to the fear of the Most High; for all wisdom is the fear of God, and in it is the fear of God, and in all wisdom is the ordering of the law.
19:20
πᾶσα σοφία φόβος κυρίου καὶ ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ ποίησις νόμου
Est nequitia, et in ipsa execratio, et est insipiens qui minuitur sapientia.
እስመ፡ ኵሉ፡ ጥበብ፡ ፈሪሀ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ይእቲ፡ ኵሉ፡ ጥበብ፡ ትገብሮ፡ ለሕጉ።
All wisdom is the fear of the Lord; And in all wisdom is the doing of the law.
19:21—
Melior est homo qui minuitur sapientia, et deficiens sensu, in timore, quam qui abundat sensu, et transgreditur legem Altissimi.
—
Better is the man who is diminished in wisdom and lacking in understanding, yet in the fear of God, than one who abounds in understanding yet transgresses the law of the Most High.
19:22
καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν σοφία πονηρίας ἐπιστήμη καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ὅπου βουλὴ ἁμαρτωλῶν φρόνησις
Est solertia certa, et ipsa iniqua :
ወአልቦ፡ ጥበብ፡ ዘእኩየ፡ ይሜህር፡ ወአልቦ፡ ጥበብ፡ ምክረ፡(ረሲአን፡ወ)ኃጥኣን።
And the knowledge of wickedness is not wisdom; And the prudence of sinners is not counsel.
19:23
ἔστιν πανουργία καὶ αὕτη βδέλυγμα καὶ ἔστιν ἄφρων ἐλαττούμενος σοφίᾳ
et est qui emittit verbum certum enarrans veritatem. Est qui nequiter humiliat se, et interiora ejus plena sunt dolo :
ቦ፡ እከይ፡ እንተ፡ እምኵሉ፡ ትረኵስ፡ ወሀለወ፡ አብድ፡ ሕጹጽ፡ ልብ።
There is a wickedness, and the same is abomination; And there is a fool lacking in wisdom.
19:24
κρείττων ἡττώμενος ἐν συνέσει ἔμφοβος ἢ περισσεύων ἐν φρονήσει καὶ παραβαίνων νόμον
et est qui se nimium submittit a multa humilitate : et est qui inclinat faciem suam, et fingit se non videre quod ignoratum est :
ወይኄይስ፡ ባሕቱ፡ አብድ፡ እንዘ፡ ይፈርሆ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ እምትጥበብ፡ ወትክሐድ፡ ሕጎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር።
Better is one that has small understanding, and fears, Than one that has much prudence, and transgresses the law.
19:25
ἔστιν πανουργία ἀκριβὴς καὶ αὕτη ἄδικος καὶ ἔστιν διαστρέφων χάριν τοῦ ἐκφᾶναι κρίμα
et si ab imbecillitate virium vetetur peccare, si invenerit tempus malefaciendi, malefaciet.
ሀለወ፡ ዘይጠበብ፡ ወይጠናቀቅ፡ እንዘ፡ ይዔምፅ፡ ወሀለወ፡ ዘይመይጣ፡ ለምክር፡ ወያስተርኢ፡ ከመ፡ ያድሉ፡ ለቢጹ፡ ወከመ፡ ያስተራትዕ፡ ፍትሕ፡ ለማኅፈሩ።
There is an exquisite subtlety, and the same is unjust; And there is one that perverteth favor to gain a judgement.
19:26
ἔστιν πονηρευόμενος συγκεκυφὼς μελανίᾳ καὶ τὰ ἐντὸς αὐτοῦ πλήρη δόλου
Ex visu cognoscitur vir, et ab occursu faciei cognoscitur sensatus.
ወቦ፡ ዘያደሉ፡ ለእኩይ፡ እንዘ፡ ኢይንእድ፡ ወልቡሰ፡ ምሉእ፡ ጕሕሉት።
There is one that does wickedly, that hangs down his head with mourning; But inwardly he is full of deceit,
19:27
συγκρύφων πρόσωπον καὶ ἐθελοκωφῶν ὅπου οὐκ ἐπεγνώσθη προφθάσει σε
Amictus corporis, et risus dentium, et ingressus hominis, enuntiant de illo.
ወቦ፡ ዘያደሉ፡ ለገጽ፡ እንዘ፡ ካልእ፡ ውስተ፡ ልቡ፡ ወእንተ፡ ኀበ፡ ኢያሐዘብካ፡ ይመጽአከ።
Bowing down his face, and making as if he were deaf of one ear: Where he is not known, he will be beforehand with you.
19:28
καὶ ἐὰν ὑπὸ ἐλαττώματος ἰσχύος κωλυθῇ ἁμαρτεῖν ἐὰν εὕρῃ καιρόν κακοποιήσει
Est correptio mendax in ira contumeliosi, et est judicium quod non probatur esse bonum : et est tacens, et ipse est prudens.
ወእመኒ፡ ደክመ፡ ኀይሉ፡ ወስእነ፡ አሕሥሞ፡ ላዕሌከ፡ እንተ፡ አመሰ፡ ያስሕተከ፡ ግብር፡ ያሐመምከ።
And if for lack of power he be hindered from sinning, If he find opportunity, he will do mischief.
19:29
ἀπὸ ὁράσεως ἐπιγνωσθήσεται ἀνήρ καὶ ἀπὸ ἀπαντήσεως προσώπου ἐπιγνωσθήσεται νοήμων
—
እስመ፡ እምራእዩ፡ ይትዐወቅ፡ ሰብእ፡ ወእምገጹ፡ ይትዐወቅ፡ ጠቢብ።
A man will be known by his look, And one that has understanding will be known by his face, when you meet him.
19:30
στολισμὸς ἀνδρὸς καὶ γέλως ὀδόντων καὶ βήματα ἀνθρώπου ἀναγγελεῖ τὰ περὶ αὐτοῦ
—
ወእምልበሰቱ፡ ለሰብእ፡ ወእምሑረቱ፡ ወእምሠሐቁ፡ ይትዐወቅ፡ ግዕዙ።
A man’s attire, and grinning laughter, And gait, show what he is.
