ወጦቢትሰ፡ አቡሁ፡ ለጦብያ፡ ይኌልቊ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ወሶበ፡ ተፈጸመ፡ መዋዕለ፡ ዕድሜሆሙ፡ ወኢመጽኡ።
Tobit his father counted every day. When the days of the journey were expired, and they didn’t come,
10:2
εἶπεν μήποτε κατῄσχυνται ἢ μήποτε ἀπέθανεν Γαβαηλ καὶ οὐδεὶς δίδωσιν αὐτῷ τὸ ἀργύριον εἶπεν μήποτε κατεσχέθη ἐκεῖ ἢ μήποτε ἀπέθανεν ὁ Γαβαηλ καὶ οὐδεὶς αὐτῷ δίδωσιν τὸ ἀργύριον
Putasne Gabelus mortuus est, et nemo reddet illi pecuniam ?
ይቤ፡ ዮጊ፡ ተኃፍረኑ፡ ወልድየ፡ አው፡ ይመውት፡ ገባኤል፡ ወኢረከበ፡ ዘይሁቦ፡ ብሩረ።
he said, “Is he perchance detained? Or is Gabael perchance dead, and there is no one to give him the money?”
10:3
καὶ ἐλυπεῖτο λίαν καὶ ἤρξατο λυπεῖσθαι
Cœpit autem contristari nimis ipse, et Anna uxor ejus cum eo : et cœperunt ambo simul flere, eo quod die statuto minime reverteretur filius eorum ad eos.
ወተከዘ፡ ጥቀ።
He was sorely grieved.
10:4
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ἡ γυνή ἀπώλετο τὸ παιδίον διότι κεχρόνικεν καὶ ἤρξατο θρηνεῖν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν καὶ Αννα ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ λέγει ἀπώλετο τὸ παιδίον μου καὶ οὐκέτι ὑπάρχει ἐν τοῖς ζῶσιν καὶ ἤρξατο κλαίειν καὶ θρηνεῖν περὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς καὶ εἶπεν
Flebat igitur mater ejus irremediabilibus lacrimis, atque dicebat : Heu, heu me, fili mi ! ut quid te misimus peregrinari, lumen oculorum nostrorum, baculum senectutis nostræ, solatium vitæ nostræ, spem posteritatis nostræ ?
ወትቤሎ፡ ብእሲቱ፡ ወልድየሰ፡ ሞተ፡ ወበእንተዝ፡ ጐንደየ፡ ወአኃዘጽ፡ ትብክዮ።
But his wife said to him, “The child has perished, seeing he waits long.” She began to bewail him, and said,
10:5
οὐ μέλει μοι τέκνον ὅτι ἀφῆκά σε τὸ φῶς τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν μου οὐαί μοι τέκνον ὅτι ἀφῆκά σε πορευθῆναι τὸ φῶς τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν μου
omnia simul in te uno habentes, te non debuimus dimittere a nobis.
ወትቤ፡ እምኢያኅዘነኒ፡ ወልድየ፡ ሶበ፡ አኮ፡ ዘአኅጐከኒ፡ ብርሃነ፡ አዕይንትየ።
“I care about nothing, my child, since I have let you go, the light of my eyes.”
10:6
καὶ Τωβιτ λέγει αὐτῇ σίγα μὴ λόγον ἔχε ὑγιαίνει καὶ Τωβιθ ἔλεγεν αὐτῇ σίγα μὴ λόγον ἔχε ἀδελφή ὑγιαίνει καὶ μάλα περισπασμὸς αὐτοῖς ἐγένετο ἐκεῖ καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ πορευθεὶς μετ’ αὐτοῦ πιστός ἐστιν καὶ εἷς τῶν ἀδελφῶν ἡμῶν μὴ λυποῦ περὶ αὐτοῦ ἀδελφή ἤδη παρέσται
Cui dicebat Tobias : Tace, et noli turbari : sanus est filius noster : satis fidelis est vir ille, cum quo misimus eum.
ወይቤላ፡ አርምሚ፡ ወኢትትኃለፊ፡ ውእቱሰ፡ ሕያው።
Tobit saih to her, “Hold your peace. Don’t worry. He is in good health.”
10:7
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ σίγα μὴ πλάνα με ἀπώλετο τὸ παιδίον μου καὶ ἐπορεύετο καθ’ ἡμέραν εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν ἔξω οἵας ἀπῆλθεν ἡμέρας τε ἄρτον οὐκ ἤσθιεν τὰς δὲ νύκτας οὐ διελίμπανεν θρηνοῦσα Τωβιαν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς ἕως οὗ συνετελέσθησαν αἱ δέκα τέσσαρες ἡμέραι τοῦ γάμου ἃς ὤμοσεν Ραγουηλ ποιῆσαι αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ σίγα ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ μή με πλάνα ἀπώλετο τὸ παιδίον μου καὶ ἐκπηδήσασα περιεβλέπετο τὴν ὁδόν ᾗ ᾤχετο ὁ υἱὸς αὐτῆς καθ’ ἡμέραν καὶ οὐκ ἐπείθετο οὐδενί καὶ ὅτε ἔδυ ὁ ἥλιος εἰσπορευομένη ἐθρήνει καὶ ἔκλαιεν τὴν νύκτα ὅλην καὶ οὐκ εἶχεν ὕπνον
Illa autem nullo modo consolari poterat, sed quotidie exiliens circumspiciebat, et circuibat vias omnes per quas spes remeandi videbatur, ut procul videret eum, si fieri posset, venientem.
ወትቤሎ፡ ይእቲኒ፡ አርምም፡ አንተኒ፡ ወኢታስተአብደኒ፡ ወልድየሰ፡ ሞተ፡ ወተሐውር፡ ኵሎ፡ አሚረ፡ ትብክዮ፡ ውስተ፡ ፍኖት፡ እንተ፡ ኀበ፡ ሖረ፡ መዓልተ፡ እክለ፡ ኢትበልዕ፡ ወሌሊተ፡ ኢታረምም፡ እንዘ፡ ትበክዮ፡ ለጦብያ፡ ወልዳ፡ ወእስከ፡ ተፈጸመ፡ ዓሠርቱ፡ ወረቡዕ፡ ዕለት፡ መዋዕለ፡ በዓል፡ ዘአምሐሎ፡ ራጉኤል፡ ከመ፡ ኢይሑር፡ እስከ፡ አመ፡ ይትፌጸም፡ በዓል፡ ዘመርዓ።
And she said to him, “Hold your peace. Don’t deceive me. My child has perished.” And she went out every day into the way by which they went, and ate no bread in the day-time, and didn’t stop bewailing her son Tobias for whole nights, until the fourteen days of the wedding feast were expired, which Raguel had sworn that he should spend there. Then Tobias said to Raguel, “Send me away, for my father and my mother look no more to see me.”
10:8
εἶπεν δὲ Τωβιας τῷ Ραγουηλ ἐξαπόστειλόν με ὅτι ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ ἡ μήτηρ μου οὐκέτι ἐλπίζουσιν ὄψεσθαί με καὶ ὅτε συνετελέσθησαν αἱ δέκα τέσσαρες ἡμέραι τοῦ γάμου ἃς ὤμοσεν Ραγουηλ ποιῆσαι τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Τωβιας καὶ εἶπεν ἐξαπόστειλόν με γινώσκω γὰρ ἐγὼ ὅτι ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ ἡ μήτηρ μου οὐ πιστεύουσιν ὅτι ὄψονταί με ἔτι καὶ νῦν ἀξιῶ σε πάτερ ὅπως ἐξαποστείλῃς με καὶ πορευθῶ πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου ἤδη ὑπέδειξά σοι ὡς ἀφῆκα αὐτόν
At vero Raguel dicebat ad generum suum : Mane hic, et ego mittam nuntium salutis de te ad Tobiam patrem tuum.
ወእምዝ፡ ተፈጺሞ፡ መዋዕለ፡ በዓል፡ ይቤሎ፡ ጦብ፡ ለራጉኤል፡ ፈንወኒ፡ እንከሰ፡ እስመ፡ አቡየ፡ ወእምየ፡ ቀብፁኒ፡ ወኢይሴፈዉ፡ እንከ፡ ይርአዩኒ።
But his father-in-law said to him, “Stay with me, and I will send to your father, and they will declare to him how things go with you.”
10:9
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ πενθερὸς αὐτοῦ μεῖνον παρ’ ἐμοί κἀγὼ ἐξαποστελῶ πρὸς τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ δηλώσουσιν αὐτῷ τὰ κατὰ σέ καὶ Τωβιας λέγει οὐχί ἀλλὰ ἐξαπόστειλόν με πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ εἶπεν Ραγουηλ τῷ Τωβια μεῖνον παιδίον μεῖνον μετ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω ἀγγέλους πρὸς Τωβιν τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ ὑποδείξουσιν αὐτῷ περὶ σοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ μηδαμῶς ἀξιῶ σε ὅπως ἐξαποστείλῃς με ἐντεῦθεν πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου
Cui Tobias ait : Ego novi quia pater meus et mater mea modo dies computant, et cruciatur spiritus eorum in ipsis.
ወይቤሎ፡ ሐሙሁ፡ ንበር፡ ኀቤየ፡ ወአነ፡ እልእክ፡ ኀበ፡ አቡከ፡ ከመ፡ ይንግርዎ፡ ዜናከ።
Tobias said, “No. Send me away to my father.”
10:10
ἀναστὰς δὲ Ραγουηλ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ Σαρραν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ ἥμισυ τῶν ὑπαρχόντων σώματα καὶ κτήνη καὶ ἀργύριον καὶ ἀναστὰς Ραγουηλ παρέδωκεν Τωβια Σαρραν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ πάντων τῶν ὑπαρχόντων αὐτῷ παῖδας καὶ παιδίσκας βόας καὶ πρόβατα ὄνους καὶ καμήλους ἱματισμὸν καὶ ἀργύριον καὶ σκεύη
Cumque verbis multis rogaret Raguel Tobiam, et ille eum nulla ratione vellet audire, tradidit ei Saram, et dimidiam partem omnis substantiæ suæ in pueris, in puellis, in pecudibus, in camelis, et in vaccis, et in pecunia multa : et salvum atque gaudentem dimisit eum a se,
ወይቤሎ፡ ጦብያ፡ አልቦ፡ ዳዕሙ፡ ፈንወኒ፡ ኀበ፡ አቡየ።
Raguel arose, and gave him Sarah his wife, and half his goods, servants and cattle and money;
10:11
καὶ εὐλογήσας αὐτοὺς ἐξαπέστειλεν λέγων εὐοδώσει ὑμᾶς τέκνα ὁ θεὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ πρὸ τοῦ με ἀποθανεῖν καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς ὑγιαίνοντας καὶ ἠσπάσατο αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὑγίαινε παιδίον ὑγιαίνων ὕπαγε ὁ κύριος τοῦ οὐρανοῦ εὐοδώσαι ὑμᾶς καὶ Σαρραν τὴν γυναῖκά σου καὶ ἴδοιμι ὑμῶν παιδία πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν με
dicens : Angelus Domini sanctus sit in itinere vestro, perducatque vos incolumes, et inveniatis omnia recte circa parentes vestros, et videant oculi mei filios vestros priusquam moriar.
ወተንሥአ፡ ራጉኤል፡ ወወሀቦ፡ ሣራሃ፡ ብእሲቶ፡ ወመንፈቀ፡ ንዋዮሙ፡ ሰብአኒ፡ ወእንስሳሁኒ።
and he blessed them, and sent them away, saying, “The God of heaven will prosper you, my children, before I die.”
10:12
καὶ εἶπεν τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ τίμα τοὺς πενθερούς σου αὐτοὶ νῦν γονεῖς σού εἰσιν ἀκούσαιμί σου ἀκοὴν καλήν καὶ ἐφίλησεν αὐτήν καὶ εἶπεν Σαρρα τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ ὕπαγε πρὸς τὸν πενθερόν σου ὅτι ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν αὐτοὶ γονεῖς σου ὡς οἱ γεννήσαντές σε βάδιζε εἰς εἰρήνην θύγατερ ἀκούσαιμί σου ἀγαθὴν ἀκοήν ἕως ζῶ καὶ ἀπασπασάμενος ἀπέλυσεν αὐτούς
Et apprehendentes parentes filiam suam, osculati sunt eam : et dimiserunt ire,
ወባረኮሙ፡ ወይቤሎሙ፡ እግዚአ፡ ሰማይ፡ ያሠኒ፡ ላዕሌክሙ፡ ደቂቅየ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ እሙት፡ ወይቤላ፡ ለወለቱ፡ አክብሪ፡ ታሕማኪ፡ እስመ፡ እምይእዜ፡ ዘመድኪ፡ ወንሕነሰ፡ ንስማዕ፡ ዜና፡ ሠናየ፡ በላዕሌኪ፡ ወሰዓማ፡ ወትቤሎ፡ እድና፡ ለጦብያ፡ አንተ፡ እኁየ፡ ዘአፈቅሮ፡ እግዚአ፡ ሰማይ፡ ይሠርሕከ፡ ወየሀብከ፡ ወልደ፡ እምነ፡ ሣራ፡ ወለትየ፡ እርአይ፡ ለከ፡ ከመ፡ እትፈሣሕ፡ በቅድመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወናሁ፡ አማኅፀንኩከ፡ ወለትየ፡ ማኅፀንተ፡ ኢታኅዝና።
And he said to his daughter, “Honor your father-in-law and your mother-in-law. They are now your parents. Let me hear a good report of you. Then he kissed her. Edna said to Tobias, “May the Lord of heaven restore you, dear brother, and grant to me that I may see your children of my daughter Sarah, that I may rejoice before the Lord. Behold, I commit my daughter to you in special trust. Don’t cause her grief.

καὶ Εδνα εἶπεν πρὸς Τωβιαν ἄδελφε ἀγαπητέ ἀποκαταστήσαι σε ὁ κύριος τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ δῴη μοι ἰδεῖν σου παιδία ἐκ Σαρρας τῆς θυγατρός μου ἵνα εὐφρανθῶ ἐνώπιον τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ἰδοὺ παρατίθεμαί σοι τὴν θυγατέρα μου ἐν παρακαταθήκῃ μὴ λυπήσῃς αὐτήν καὶ Εδνα λέγει Τωβια τέκνον καὶ ἄδελφε ἠγαπημένε ἀποκαταστήσαι σε κύριος καὶ ἴδοιμί σου τέκνα ἕως ζῶ καὶ Σαρρας τῆς θυγατρός μου πρὸ τοῦ με ἀποθανεῖν ἐνώπιον τοῦ κυρίου παρατίθεμαί σοι τὴν θυγατέρα μου ἐν παραθήκῃ μὴ λυπήσῃς αὐτὴν πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ζωῆς σου παιδίον εἰς εἰρήνην ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν ἐγώ σου μήτηρ καὶ Σαρρα ἀδελφή εὐοδωθείημεν πάντες ἐν τῷ αὐτῷ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ἐν τῇ ζωῇ ἡμῶν καὶ κατεφίλησεν ἀμφοτέρους καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὑγιαίνοντας
monentes eam honorare soceros, diligere maritum, regere familiam, gubernare domum, et seipsam irreprehensibilem exhibere.
ወእምድኅረ፡ ሖረ፡ ጦብያ፡ ወባረኮ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እስመ፡ ሠርሐ፡ ፍኖቶ፡ ወባረክዎ፡ ራጉኤል፡ ወእድና፡ ብእሲቱ፡ ወሖሩ፡ ወቀርቡ፡ ኀበ፡ ነነዌ።
And Edna said to Tobias, Beloved brother, may the Lord of heaven restore you, and grant me to see your children by Sarah my daughter, that I may rejoice before the Lord. And behold, I commit my daughter to you in trust; do not grieve her. And Edna said to Tobias, My child and beloved brother, may the Lord restore you, and may I see your children while I live, and the children of Sarah my daughter, before I die. Before the Lord I commit my daughter to you in trust; do not grieve her all the days of your life. Go in peace, my child; from now on I am your mother, and Sarah is your sister. May we all prosper together all the days of our life. And she kissed them both, and sent them away in health.
10:14
μετὰ ταῦτα ἐπορεύετο Τωβιας εὐλογῶν τὸν θεόν ὅτι εὐόδωσεν τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ κατευλόγει Ραγουηλ καὶ Εδναν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπῆλθεν Τωβιας ἀπὸ Ραγουηλ ὑγιαίνων καὶ χαίρων καὶ εὐλογῶν τῷ κυρίῳ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς τῷ βασιλεῖ τῶν πάντων ὅτι εὐόδωκεν τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ εὐοδώθη σοι τιμᾶν αὐτοὺς πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ζωῆς αὐτῶν

After this Tobias departed, blessing God because he had prospered his journey, and he kept blessing Raguel and Edna his wife. And Tobias went away from Raguel in health and rejoicing, and blessing the Lord of heaven and earth, the King over all, because he had prospered his journey; and he said to him, May it be granted you to honor them all the days of their life.
