1:1
בַּחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ הַשְּׁמִינִ֔י בִּשְׁנַ֥ת שְׁתַּ֖יִם לְדָרְיָ֑וֶשׁ הָיָ֣ה דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶל־זְכַרְיָה֙ בֶּן־בֶּ֣רֶכְיָ֔ה בֶּן־עִדּ֥וֹ הַנָּבִ֖יא לֵאמֹֽר׃
ἐν τῷ ὀγδόῳ μηνὶ ἔτους δευτέρου ἐπὶ Δαρείου ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς Ζαχαριαν τὸν τοῦ Βαραχιου υἱὸν Αδδω τὸν προφήτην λέγων
In mense octavo, in anno secundo Darii regis, factum est verbum Domini ad Zachariam filium Barachiae filii Addo prophetam, dicens :
በካልእ፡ ዓመተ፡ መንሥቱ፡ ለዳርዩስ፡ በሳምን፡ ወርኀ፡ ኮነ፡ ቃለ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ኀበ፡ ዘካርያስ፡ ወልደ፡ በራክዩ፡ ወልደ፡ ሐዶ፡ ነቢይ፡ ወይቤሎ።
In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,
1:2
קָצַ֧ף יְהֹוָ֛ה עַל־אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם קָֽצֶף׃
ὠργίσθη κύριος ἐπὶ τοὺς πατέρας ὑμῶν ὀργὴν μεγάλην
Iratus est Dominus super patres vestros iracundia.
ተምዐ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ላዕለ፡ አበዊክሙ፡ ዓቢይ፡ መዐተ።
“Yahweh was very displeased with your fathers.
1:3
וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶ֗ם כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת שׁ֣וּבוּ אֵלַ֔י נְאֻ֖ם יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת וְאָשׁ֣וּב אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם אָמַ֖ר יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃
καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ ἐπιστρέψατε πρός με καὶ ἐπιστραφήσομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς λέγει κύριος
Et dices ad eos : Haec dicit Dominus exercituum : Convertimini ad me, ait Dominus exercituum, et convertar ad vos, dicit Dominus exercituum.
ወበሉም፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘኩሉ፡ ይመልክ፡ ታማያጡአ፡ ኀቤኩም፡ ይቤ፡ እግዝአብሔር፡ ዛኩሉ፡ ይመልክ።
Therefore tell them, Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Return to me,’ says Yahweh of Armies, ‘and I will return to you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.
1:4
אַל־תִּהְי֣וּ כַאֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֡ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר קָרְאֽוּ־אֲלֵיהֶם֩ הַנְּבִיאִ֨ים הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֜ים לֵאמֹ֗ר כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת שׁ֤וּבוּ נָא֙ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֣ם הָרָעִ֔ים (ומעליליכם) [וּמַֽעַלְלֵיכֶ֖ם] הָֽרָעִ֑ים וְלֹ֥א שָׁמְע֛וּ וְלֹֽא־הִקְשִׁ֥יבוּ אֵלַ֖י נְאֻם־יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ μὴ γίνεσθε καθὼς οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν οἷς ἐνεκάλεσαν αὐτοῖς οἱ προφῆται οἱ ἔμπροσθεν λέγοντες τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ ἀποστρέψατε ἀπὸ τῶν ὁδῶν ὑμῶν τῶν πονηρῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐπιτηδευμάτων ὑμῶν τῶν πονηρῶν καὶ οὐ προσέσχον τοῦ εἰσακοῦσαί μου λέγει κύριος
Ne sitis sicut patres vestri, ad quos clamabant prophetae priores, dicentes : Haec dicit Dominus exercituum : Convertimini de viis vestris malis, et de cogitationibus vestris pessimis : et non audierunt, neque attenderunt ad me, dicit Dominus.
ወኢትኩኑ፡ ከመ፡ አበዊክሙ፡ እለ፡ ገሠጽዋሙ፡ ነቢያት፡ ቀደምት፡ ወይቤዎሙ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘኩሉ፡ ይመልክ፡ ተመየጡአ፡ እምፍኖትክሙ፡ እኩይ፡ ዋእእከየ፡ ምግባሪክም፡ ወአበዩ፡ ሰሚፆትየ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘኩሉ፡ ይመልክ።
Don’t you be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: Yahweh of Armies says, ‘Return now from your evil ways and from your evil doings;’ but they didn’t hear nor listen to me, says Yahweh.
1:5
אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם אַיֵּה־הֵ֑ם וְהַ֨נְּבִאִ֔ים הַלְעוֹלָ֖ם יִֽחְיֽוּ׃
οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν ποῦ εἰσιν καὶ οἱ προφῆται μὴ τὸν αἰῶνα ζήσονται
Patres vestri, ubi sunt ? et prophetae numquid in sempiternum vivent ?
አይቴአ፡ አበዊክሙ፡ ወነቢያቲክሙ፡ ቦኑአ፡ ለዓለም፡ የሐይዉ።
Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?
1:6
אַ֣ךְ׀ דְּבָרַ֣י וְחֻקַּ֗י אֲשֶׁ֤ר צִוִּ֙יתִי֙ אֶת־עֲבָדַ֣י הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים הֲל֥וֹא הִשִּׂ֖יגוּ אֲבֹתֵיכֶ֑ם וַיָּשׁ֣וּבוּ וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר זָמַ֜ם יְהֹוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לָ֔נוּ כִּדְרָכֵ֙ינוּ֙ וּכְמַ֣עֲלָלֵ֔ינוּ כֵּ֖ן עָשָׂ֥ה אִתָּֽנוּ׃ {פ}
πλὴν τοὺς λόγους μου καὶ τὰ νόμιμά μου δέχεσθε ὅσα ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαι ἐν πνεύματί μου τοῖς δούλοις μου τοῖς προφήταις οἳ κατελάβοσαν τοὺς πατέρας ὑμῶν καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν καὶ εἶπαν καθὼς παρατέτακται κύριος παντοκράτωρ τοῦ ποιῆσαι κατὰ τὰς ὁδοὺς ὑμῶν καὶ κατὰ τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα ὑμῶν οὕτως ἐποίησεν ὑμῖν
Verumtamen verba mea, et legitima mea, quae mandavi servis meis prophetis, numquid non comprehenderunt patres vestros, et conversi sunt, et dixerunt : Sicut cogitavit Dominus exercituum facere nobis secundum vias nostras, et secundum adinventiones nostras, fecit nobis ?
ይእዜኒአ፡ ተወከፉ፡ ቃልየ፡ ወሕግየ፡ ኩሉ፡ ዘአዘዝኩ፡ በነፍስየ፡ ለአግብትየ፡ ለነቢያትት፡ ቀደምት፡ እለ፡ ረከብዎሙ፡ ለአበዊክሙ፡ ወተሠጥዎ፡ ወይቤሉ፡ በከመ፡ ነበበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘኩሉ፡ ይመልክ፡ ከመ፡ ይገበር፡ ላዕሌነ፡ በከመ፡ ፍናዊነ፡ ወነከመ፡ ጌጋይነ፡ ከማሁ፡ ገብረ፡ ለነ።
But my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, didn’t they overtake your fathers? “Then they repented and said, ‘Just as Yahweh of Armies determined to do to us, according to our ways and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.’”
1:7
בְּיוֹם֩ עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֜ה לְעַשְׁתֵּֽי־עָשָׂ֥ר חֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ הוּא־חֹ֣דֶשׁ שְׁבָ֔ט בִּשְׁנַ֥ת שְׁתַּ֖יִם לְדָרְיָ֑וֶשׁ הָיָ֣ה דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶל־זְכַרְיָה֙ בֶּן־בֶּ֣רֶכְיָ֔הוּ בֶּן־עִדּ֥וֹא הַנָּבִ֖יא לֵאמֹֽר׃
τῇ τετράδι καὶ εἰκάδι τῷ ἑνδεκάτῳ μηνί οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ μὴν Σαβατ ἐν τῷ δευτέρῳ ἔτει ἐπὶ Δαρείου ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρὸς Ζαχαριαν τὸν τοῦ Βαραχιου υἱὸν Αδδω τὸν προφήτην λέγων
In die vigesima et quarta undecimi mensis Sabath, in anno secundo Darii, factum est verbum Domini ad Zachariam filium Barachiae filii Addo prophetam, dicens :
ወአመ፡ ተሰዑ፡ ለጽልመት፡ ለዐሠርቱ፡ ወአሐዱ፡ ወርኀ፡ በወርኀ፡ ሳባጥ፡ ባካልእ፡ ዓመት፡ መንግሥቱ፡ ለዳርዬስ፡ ኮነ፡ ቃለ፡ እግዝአብሔር፡ ኃበ፡ ዘካርያስ፡ ወልደ፡ በራክዩ፡ ወልደ፡ ሐዶ፡ ነቢይ፡ ወይቤ።
On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,
1:8
רָאִ֣יתִי׀ הַלַּ֗יְלָה וְהִנֵּה־אִישׁ֙ רֹכֵב֙ עַל־ס֣וּס אָדֹ֔ם וְה֣וּא עֹמֵ֔ד בֵּ֥ין הַהֲדַסִּ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּמְּצֻלָ֑ה וְאַחֲרָיו֙ סוּסִ֣ים אֲדֻמִּ֔ים שְׂרֻקִּ֖ים וּלְבָנִֽים׃
ἑώρακα τὴν νύκτα καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνὴρ ἐπιβεβηκὼς ἐπὶ ἵππον πυρρόν καὶ οὗτος εἱστήκει ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν δύο ὀρέων τῶν κατασκίων καὶ ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ ἵπποι πυρροὶ καὶ ψαροὶ καὶ ποικίλοι καὶ λευκοί
Vidi per noctem, et ecce vir ascendens super equum rufum, et ipse stabat inter myrteta, quae erant in profundo, et post eum equi rufi, varii, et albi.
ወእቤሎ፡ ምንትኑ፡ እሉ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ወይቤለኒ፡ መልአክ፡ ዘይተናገረኒ፡ አነ፡ እነግረክ፡ ምንት፡ ዉእቱ፡ ዝንቱ።
“I had a vision in the night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in a ravine; and behind him there were red, brown, and white horses.
1:9
וָאֹמַ֖ר מָה־אֵ֣לֶּה אֲדֹנִ֑י וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י הַמַּלְאָךְ֙ הַדֹּבֵ֣ר בִּ֔י אֲנִ֥י אַרְאֶ֖ךָּ מָה־הֵ֥מָּה אֵֽלֶּה׃
καὶ εἶπα τί οὗτοι κύριε καὶ εἶπεν πρός με ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ λαλῶν ἐν ἐμοί ἐγὼ δείξω σοι τί ἐστιν ταῦτα
Et dixi : Quid sunt isti, domine mi ? Et dixit ad me angelus qui loquebatur in me : Ego ostendam tibi quid sint haec.
ወተሠጥወ፡ ብእሲ፡ ዘይቀዉም፡ ማእከለ፡ አድባር፡ ወይበለኒ፡ እሉ፡ እሙንቱ፡ እለ፡ ፈነወ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ይዑድዋ፡ ለምድር።
Then I asked, ‘My lord, what are these?’” The angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what these are.”
1:10
וַיַּ֗עַן הָאִ֛ישׁ הָעֹמֵ֥ד בֵּין־הַהֲדַסִּ֖ים וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֵ֚לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁלַ֣ח יְהֹוָ֔ה לְהִתְהַלֵּ֖ךְ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ ἐφεστηκὼς ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ὀρέων καὶ εἶπεν πρός με οὗτοί εἰσιν οὓς ἐξαπέσταλκεν κύριος τοῦ περιοδεῦσαι τὴν γῆν
Et respondit vir qui stabat inter myrteta, et dixit : Isti sunt quos misit Dominus ut perambulent terram.
ወተሠጥዉዎ፡ ለመልአክ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘይቀዉም፡ ማእከለ፡ አድባር፡ ወይቤሉ፡ ፆድነ፡ ኩላም፡ ምድር፡ ወናሁ፡ ኩላ፡ ምድር፡ ትነብር፡ ወታረምም።
The man who stood among the myrtle trees answered, “They are the ones Yahweh has sent to go back and forth through the earth.”
1:11
וַֽיַּעֲנ֞וּ אֶת־מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהֹוָ֗ה הָֽעֹמֵד֙ בֵּ֣ין הַהֲדַסִּ֔ים וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ הִתְהַלַּ֣כְנוּ בָאָ֑רֶץ וְהִנֵּ֥ה כׇל־הָאָ֖רֶץ יֹשֶׁ֥בֶת וְשֹׁקָֽטֶת׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν τῷ ἀγγέλῳ κυρίου τῷ ἐφεστῶτι ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ὀρέων καὶ εἶπον περιωδεύκαμεν πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν καὶ ἰδοὺ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ κατοικεῖται καὶ ἡσυχάζει
Et responderunt angelo Domini, qui stabat inter myrteta, et dixerunt : Perambulavimus terram, et ecce omnis terra habitatur, et quiescit.
ወተሠጥዎ፡ መልእክ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወይቤ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ዘኩሉ፡ ትመልክ፡ እስከ፡ መእዜኑ፡ ኢትሠሀላ፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም፡ ወለአህጉር፡ ይሁዳ፡ ዘአስተት፡ እምዛ፡ ሰብዓዓም።
They reported to Yahweh’s angel who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked back and forth through the earth, and behold, all the earth is at rest and in peace.”
1:12
וַיַּ֣עַן מַלְאַךְ־יְהֹוָה֮ וַיֹּאמַר֒ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת עַד־מָתַ֗י אַתָּה֙ לֹֽא־תְרַחֵ֣ם אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וְאֵ֖ת עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר זָעַ֔מְתָּה זֶ֖ה שִׁבְעִ֥ים שָׁנָֽה׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου καὶ εἶπεν κύριε παντοκράτωρ ἕως τίνος οὐ μὴ ἐλεήσῃς τὴν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ τὰς πόλεις Ιουδα ἃς ὑπερεῖδες τοῦτο ἑβδομηκοστὸν ἔτος
Et respondit angelus Domini, et dixit : Domine exercituum, usquequo tu non misereberis Jerusalem, et urbium Juda, quibus iratus es ? iste jam septuagesimus annus est.
ወተሠጥዎ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ለዝኩ፡ መልእክ፡ ዘተነገረኒ፡ ቃለ፡ ሠናየ፡ ወነገረ፡ ፍሥሐ።
Then Yahweh’s angel replied, “O Yahweh of Armies, how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which you have had indignation these seventy years?”
1:13
וַיַּ֣עַן יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶת־הַמַּלְאָ֛ךְ הַדֹּבֵ֥ר בִּ֖י דְּבָרִ֣ים טוֹבִ֑ים דְּבָרִ֖ים נִחֻמִֽים׃
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη κύριος παντοκράτωρ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ τῷ λαλοῦντι ἐν ἐμοὶ ῥήματα καλὰ καὶ λόγους παρακλητικούς
Et respondit Dominus angelo qui loquebatur in me verba bona, verba consolatoria.
ወይቤለኒ፡ ዝኩ፡ መልአክ፡ ዘይትናገረኒ፡ ክላሕ፡ ወበል፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዝአብሔር፡ ዘኩሉ፡ ይመልክ፡ ቀናእኩ፡ ላዕለ፡ እየሩሳሌም፡ ወላዕለ፡ ይሁዳ፡ ዓቢየ፡ ቅንአተ።
Yahweh answered the angel who talked with me with kind and comforting words.
1:14
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י הַמַּלְאָךְ֙ הַדֹּבֵ֣ר בִּ֔י קְרָ֣א לֵאמֹ֔ר כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת קִנֵּ֧אתִי לִירוּשָׁלַ֛͏ִם וּלְצִיּ֖וֹן קִנְאָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃
καὶ εἶπεν πρός με ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ λαλῶν ἐν ἐμοί ἀνάκραγε λέγων τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ ἐζήλωκα τὴν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ τὴν Σιων ζῆλον μέγαν
Et dixit ad me angelus qui loquebatur in me : Clama, dicens : Haec dicit Dominus exercituum : Zelatus sum Jerusalem et Sion zelo magno,
ወተምዐዕኩ፡ ላዕለ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ዓቢየ፡ መዐተ፡ እለ፡ ተቃወሙ፡ ሶበ፡ አነ፡ ታምዐዕኩ፡ ኀዳተ፡ ወእሙንቱለ፡ ወሰኩ፡ እኪተ።
So the angel who talked with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
1:15
וְקֶ֤צֶף גָּדוֹל֙ אֲנִ֣י קֹצֵ֔ף עַל־הַגּוֹיִ֖ם הַשַּֽׁאֲנַנִּ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֲנִי֙ קָצַ֣פְתִּי מְּעָ֔ט וְהֵ֖מָּה עָזְר֥וּ לְרָעָֽה׃
καὶ ὀργὴν μεγάλην ἐγὼ ὀργίζομαι ἐπὶ τὰ ἔθνη τὰ συνεπιτιθέμενα ἀνθ’ ὧν ἐγὼ μὲν ὠργίσθην ὀλίγα αὐτοὶ δὲ συνεπέθεντο εἰς κακά
et ira magna ego irascor super gentes opulentas, quia ego iratus sum parum, ipsi vero adjuverunt in malum.
በእንተ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዝአብሔር፡ ዘኩሉ፡ ይመልክ፡ ወእሠርዕ፡ መስፈርታ፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም፡ ዓዲ።
I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, but they added to the calamity.”
1:16
לָכֵ֞ן כֹּֽה־אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה שַׁ֤בְתִּי לִירוּשָׁלַ֙͏ִם֙ בְּֽרַחֲמִ֔ים בֵּיתִי֙ יִבָּ֣נֶה בָּ֔הּ נְאֻ֖ם יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת (וקוה) [וְקָ֥ו] יִנָּטֶ֖ה עַל־יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃
διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐπιστρέψω ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ ἐν οἰκτιρμῷ καὶ ὁ οἶκός μου ἀνοικοδομηθήσεται ἐν αὐτῇ λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ καὶ μέτρον ἐκταθήσεται ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ ἔτι
Propterea haec dicit Dominus : Revertar ad Jerusalem in misericordiis, et domus mea aedificabitur in ea, ait Dominus exercituum, et perpendiculum extendetur super Jerusalem.
ወዓዲ፡ ይቤለኒ፡ መልአክ፡ ዘይትናገረኒ፡ ክላሕ፡ ወበል፡ ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘኩሉ፡ ይመልክ፡ ዓዲ፡ ትትከዐዉ፡ ሣናይት፡ ዉሰተ፡ አህጉር፡ ወይሠሀላ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዓዲ፡ ለጽዩን፡ ወየኀርያ፡ ለኢየሩሌም።
Therefore Yahweh says: “I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house shall be built in it,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and a line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’
1:17
ע֣וֹד׀ קְרָ֣א לֵאמֹ֗ר כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת ע֛וֹד תְּפוּצֶ֥נָה עָרַ֖י מִטּ֑וֹב וְנִחַ֨ם יְהֹוָ֥ה עוֹד֙ אֶת־צִיּ֔וֹן וּבָחַ֥ר ע֖וֹד בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ {פ}
καὶ εἶπεν πρός με ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ λαλῶν ἐν ἐμοί ἀνάκραγε λέγων τάδε λέγει κύριος παντοκράτωρ ἔτι διαχυθήσονται πόλεις ἐν ἀγαθοῖς καὶ ἐλεήσει κύριος ἔτι τὴν Σιων καὶ αἱρετιεῖ ἔτι τὴν Ιερουσαλημ
Adhuc clama, dicens : Haec dicit Dominus exercituum : Adhuc affluent civitates meae bonis, et consolabitur adhuc Dominus Sion, et eliget adhuc Jerusalem.
ወካዕበ፡ አንሣእኩ፡ አዕይንትየ፡ ወርኢኩ፡ አርባዕተ፡ አቅንተ።
“Proclaim further, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and Yahweh will again comfort Zion, and will again choose Jerusalem.”’”
1:18——
Et levavi oculos meos, et vidi, et ecce quatuor cornua.
ወእቤሉ፡ ለዝኩ፡ መልእክ፡ ዘይትናገረኒ፡ ምንትኑ፡ ዝንቱ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ወይቤለኒ፡ ዝንቱ፡ እግዚኦ፡ ወይቤለኒ፡ ዝንቱ፡ አቅንት፡ ዘይዘርዎሙ፡ ለይሁዳ፡ ወለእራኤል፡ ወለኢየሩሳሌም።
I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, four horns.
1:19——
Et dixi ad angelum qui loquebatur in me : Quid sunt haec ? Et dixit ad me : Haec sunt cornua quae ventilaverunt Judam, et Israël, et Jerusalem.
ወከዕበ፡ ኣርአየኒ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አርባእተ፡ ጻረብተ።
I asked the angel who talked with me, “What are these?” He answered me, “These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”
1:20——
Et ostendit mihi Dominus quatuor fabros.
ወእቤሎ፡ ምንተ፡ ይግበሩ፡ መጹኡ፡ እሱ፡ ወይበለኒ፡ እስ፡ ከፍኡ፡ እሉ፡ አቅርንት፡ ዘይዘርዉዎሙ፡ ለይሁዳዳ፡ ወለእስራኤል፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘአንሥአ፡ ርእሶ፡ እምኔሆሙ፡ ለይሁዳ፡ ወለእስራኤል፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘአንሥአ፡ ርእሶ፡ እምኔሆሙ፡ ወመጹኡ፡ ከመ፡ ያብልኀዎሙ፡ እሉ፡ በዉሰተ፡ እደዊሆሙ፡ እሉ፡ እሙንቱ፡ አርባዕቱ፡ አቅርንት፡ አሕዛብ፡ እንክ፡ እለ፡ አንሥኡ፡ ቀርኖሙ፡ ይዝርዉዋ፡ ለምድረ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
Yahweh showed me four craftsmen.
1:21——
Et dixi : Quid isti veniunt facere ? Qui ait, dicens : Haec sunt cornua quae ventilaverunt Judam per singulos viros, et nemo eorum levavit caput suum : et venerunt isti deterrere ea, ut dejiciant cornua gentium, quae levaverunt cornu super terram Juda ut dispergerent eam.

Then I asked, “What are these coming to do?” He said, “These are the horns which scattered Judah, so that no man lifted up his head; but these have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations that lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.”
