37:1
Habitavit autem Jacob in terra Chanaan, in qua pater suus peregrinatus est.
Jacob lived in the land of his father’s travels, in the land of Canaan.
雅各住在迦南地，就是他父親寄居的地。
37:2
Et hae sunt generationes ejus : Joseph cum sedecim esset annorum, pascebat gregem cum fratribus suis adhuc puer : et erat cum filiis Balae et Zelphae uxorum patris sui : accusavitque fratres suos apud patrem crimine pessimo.
This is the history of the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. He was a boy with the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father’s wives. Joseph brought an evil report of them to their father.
雅各的記略如下。 約瑟十七歲與他哥哥們一同牧羊。他是個童子，與他父親的妾辟拉、悉帕的兒子們常在一處。約瑟將他哥哥們的惡行報給他們的父親。
37:3
Israël autem diligebat Joseph super omnes filios suos, eo quod in senectute genuisset eum : fecitque ei tunicam polymitam.
Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age, and he made him a tunic of many colors.
以色列原來愛約瑟過於愛他的眾子，因為約瑟是他年老生的；他給約瑟做了一件彩衣。
37:4
Videntes autem fratres ejus quod a patre plus cunctis filiis amaretur, oderant eum, nec poterant ei quidquam pacifice loqui.
His brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, and they hated him, and couldn’t speak peaceably to him.
約瑟的哥哥們見父親愛約瑟過於愛他們，就恨約瑟，不與他說和睦的話。
37:5
Accidit quoque ut visum somnium referret fratribus suis : quae causa majoris odii seminarium fuit.
Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him all the more.
約瑟做了一夢，告訴他哥哥們，他們就越發恨他。
37:6
Dixitque ad eos : Audite somnium meum quod vidi :
He said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed:
約瑟對他們說：「請聽我所做的夢：
37:7
putabam nos ligare manipulos in agro : et quasi consurgere manipulum meum, et stare, vestrosque manipulos circumstantes adorare manipulum meum.
for behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and behold, your sheaves came around, and bowed down to my sheaf.”
我們在田裏捆禾稼，我的捆起來站着，你們的捆來圍着我的捆下拜。」
37:8
Responderunt fratres ejus : Numquid rex noster eris ? aut subjiciemur ditioni tuae ? Haec ergo causa somniorum atque sermonum, invidiae et odii fomitem ministravit.
His brothers asked him, “Will you indeed reign over us? Will you indeed have dominion over us?” They hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words.
他的哥哥們回答說：「難道你真要作我們的王嗎？難道你真要管轄我們嗎？」他們就因為他的夢和他的話越發恨他。
37:9
Aliud quoque vidit somnium, quod narrans fratribus, ait : Vidi per somnium, quasi solem, et lunam, et stellas undecim adorare me.
He dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said, “Behold, I have dreamed yet another dream: and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars bowed down to me.”
後來他又做了一夢，也告訴他的哥哥們說：「看哪，我又做了一夢，夢見太陽、月亮，與十一個星向我下拜。」
37:10
Quod cum patri suo, et fratribus retulisset, increpavit eum pater suus, et dixit : Quid sibi vult hoc somnium quod vidisti ? num ego et mater tua, et fratres tui adorabimus te super terram ?
He told it to his father and to his brothers. His father rebuked him, and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves down to the earth before you?”
約瑟將這夢告訴他父親和他哥哥們，他父親就責備他說：「你做的這是甚麼夢！難道我和你母親、你弟兄果然要來俯伏在地，向你下拜嗎？」
37:11
Invidebant ei igitur fratres sui : pater vero rem tacitus considerabat.
His brothers envied him, but his father kept this saying in mind.
他哥哥們都嫉妒他，他父親卻把這話存在心裏。
37:12
Cumque fratres illius in pascendis gregibus patris morarentur in Sichem,
His brothers went to feed their father’s flock in Shechem.
約瑟的哥哥們往示劍去放他們父親的羊。
37:13
dixit ad eum Israël : Fratres tui pascunt oves in Sichimis : veni, mittam te ad eos. Quo respondente,
Israel said to Joseph, “Aren’t your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, and I will send you to them.” He said to him, “Here I am.”
以色列對約瑟說：「你哥哥們不是在示劍放羊嗎？你來，我要打發你往他們那裏去。」約瑟說：「我在這裏。」
37:14
Praesto sum, ait ei : Vade, et vide si cuncta prospera sint erga fratres tuos, et pecora : et renuntia mihi quid agatur. Missus de valle Hebron, venit in Sichem :
He said to him, “Go now, see whether it is well with your brothers, and well with the flock; and bring me word again.” So he sent him out of the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
以色列說：「你去看看你哥哥們平安不平安，群羊平安不平安，就回來報信給我」；於是打發他出希伯崙谷，他就往示劍去了。
37:15
invenitque eum vir errantem in agro, et interrogavit quid quaereret.
A certain man found him, and behold, he was wandering in the field. The man asked him, “What are you looking for?”
有人遇見他在田野走迷了路，就問他說：「你找甚麼？」
37:16
At ille respondit : Fratres meos quaero : indica mihi ubi pascant greges.
He said, “I am looking for my brothers. Tell me, please, where they are feeding the flock.”
他說：「我找我的哥哥們，求你告訴我，他們在何處放羊。」
37:17
Dixitque ei vir : Recesserunt de loco isto : audivi autem eos dicentes : Eamus in Dothain. Perrexit ergo Joseph post fratres suos, et invenit eos in Dothain.
The man said, “They have left here, for I heard them say, ‘Let’s go to Dothan.’” Joseph went after his brothers, and found them in Dothan.
那人說：「他們已經走了，我聽見他們說要往多坍去。」約瑟就去追趕他哥哥們，遇見他們在多坍。
37:18
Qui cum vidissent eum procul, antequam accederet ad eos, cogitaverunt illum occidere :
They saw him afar off, and before he came near to them, they conspired against him to kill him.
他們遠遠地看見他，趁他還沒有走到跟前，大家就同謀要害死他，
37:19
et mutuo loquebantur : Ecce somniator venit :
They said to one another, “Behold, this dreamer comes.
彼此說：「你看！那做夢的來了。
37:20
venite, occidamus eum, et mittamus in cisternam veterem : dicemusque : Fera pessima devoravit eum : et tunc apparebit quid illi prosint somnia sua.
Come now therefore, and let’s kill him, and cast him into one of the pits, and we will say, ‘An evil animal has devoured him.’ We will see what will become of his dreams.”
來吧！我們將他殺了，丟在一個坑裏，就說有惡獸把他吃了。我們且看他的夢將來怎麼樣。」
37:21
Audiens autem hoc Ruben, nitebatur liberare eum de manibus eorum, et dicebat :
Reuben heard it, and delivered him out of their hand, and said, “Let’s not take his life.”
呂便聽見了，要救他脫離他們的手，說：「我們不可害他的性命」；
37:22
Non interficiatis animam ejus, nec effundatis sanguinem : sed projicite eum in cisternam hanc, quae est in solitudine, manusque vestras servate innoxias : hoc autem dicebat, volens eripere eum de manibus eorum, et reddere patri suo.
Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood. Throw him into this pit that is in the wilderness, but lay no hand on him”—that he might deliver him out of their hand, to restore him to his father.
又說：「不可流他的血，可以把他丟在這野地的坑裏，不可下手害他。」呂便的意思是要救他脫離他們的手，把他歸還他的父親。
37:23
Confestim igitur ut pervenit ad fratres suos, nudaverunt eum tunica talari et polymita :
When Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him;
約瑟到了他哥哥們那裏，他們就剝了他的外衣，就是他穿的那件彩衣，
37:24
miseruntque eum in cisternam veterem, quae non habebat aquam.
and they took him, and threw him into the pit. The pit was empty. There was no water in it.
把他丟在坑裏；那坑是空的，裏頭沒有水。
37:25
Et sedentes ut comederent panem, viderunt Ismaëlitas viatores venire de Galaad, et camelos eorum portantes aromata, et resinam, et stacten in Aegyptum.
They sat down to eat bread, and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead, with their camels bearing spices and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
他們坐下吃飯，舉目觀看，見有一夥米甸 的以實瑪利人從基列來，用駱駝馱着香料、乳香、沒藥，要帶下埃及去。
37:26
Dixit ergo Judas fratribus suis : Quid nobis prodest si occiderimus fratrem nostrum, et celaverimus sanguinem ipsius ?
Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is it if we kill our brother and conceal his blood?
猶大對眾弟兄說：「我們殺我們的兄弟，藏了他的血有甚麼益處呢？
37:27
melius est ut venundetur Ismaëlitis, et manus nostrae non polluantur : frater enim et caro nostra est. Acquieverunt fratres sermonibus illius.
Come, and let’s sell him to the Ishmaelites, and not let our hand be on him; for he is our brother, our flesh.” His brothers listened to him.
我們不如將他賣給以實瑪利人，不可下手害他；因為他是我們的兄弟，我們的骨肉。」眾弟兄就聽從了他。
37:28
Et praetereuntibus Madianitis negotiatoribus, extrahentes eum de cisterna, vendiderunt eum Ismaëlitis, viginti argenteis : qui duxerunt eum in Aegyptum.
Midianites who were merchants passed by, and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. The merchants brought Joseph into Egypt.
有些米甸的商人從那裏經過，哥哥們就把約瑟從坑裏拉上來，講定二十舍客勒銀子，把約瑟賣給以實瑪利人。他們就把約瑟帶到埃及去了。
37:29
Reversusque Ruben ad cisternam, non invenit puerum :
Reuben returned to the pit, and saw that Joseph wasn’t in the pit; and he tore his clothes.
呂便回到坑邊，見約瑟不在坑裏，就撕裂衣服，
37:30
et scissis vestibus pergens ad fratres suos, ait : Puer non comparet, et ego quo ibo ?
He returned to his brothers, and said, “The child is no more; and I, where will I go?”
回到兄弟們那裏，說：「童子沒有了。我往哪裏去才好呢？」
37:31
Tulerunt autem tunicam ejus, et in sanguine haedi, quem occiderant, tinxerunt :
They took Joseph’s tunic, and killed a male goat, and dipped the tunic in the blood.
他們宰了一隻公山羊，把約瑟的那件彩衣染了血，
37:32
mittentes qui ferrent ad patrem, et dicerent : Hanc invenimus : vide utrum tunica filii tui sit, an non.
They took the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father, and said, “We have found this. Examine it, now, and see if it is your son’s tunic or not.”
打發人送到他們的父親那裏，說：「我們撿了這個；請認一認是你兒子的外衣不是？」
37:33
Quam cum agnovisset pater, ait : Tunica filii mei est : fera pessima comedit eum, bestia devoravit Joseph.
He recognized it, and said, “It is my son’s tunic. An evil animal has devoured him. Joseph is without doubt torn in pieces.”
他認得，就說：「這是我兒子的外衣。有惡獸把他吃了，約瑟被撕碎了！撕碎了！」
37:34
Scissisque vestibus, indutus est cilicio, lugens filium suum multo tempore.
Jacob tore his clothes, and put sackcloth on his waist, and mourned for his son many days.
雅各便撕裂衣服，腰間圍上麻布，為他兒子悲哀了多日。
37:35
Congregatis autem cunctis liberis ejus ut lenirent dolorem patris, noluit consolationem accipere, sed ait : Descendam ad filium meum lugens in infernum. Et illo perseverante in fletu,
All his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. He said, “For I will go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” His father wept for him.
他的兒女都起來安慰他，他卻不肯受安慰，說：「我必悲哀着下陰間，到我兒子那裏。」約瑟的父親就為他哀哭。
37:36
Madianitae vendiderunt Joseph in Aegypto Putiphari eunucho Pharaonis, magistro militum.
The Midianites sold him into Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, the captain of the guard.
米甸人帶約瑟到埃及，把他賣給法老的內臣－護衛長波提乏。
