11:1
Ἤδη γοῦν ὅλην Χριστιανῶν πολίχνην αὔτανδρον ἀμφὶ τὴν Φρυγίαν ἐν κύκλῳ περιβαλόντες ὁπλῖται, πῦρ τε ὑφάψαντες, κατέφλεξαν αὐτοὺς ἅμα νηπίοις καὶ γυναιξὶ, τὸν ἐπὶ πάντων θεὸν ἐπιβοωμένους· ὅτι δὴ πανδημεὶ πάντες οἱ τὴν πόλιν οἰκοῦντες, λογιστής τε αὐτὸς καὶ στρατηγὸς σὺν τοῖς ἐν τέλει πᾶσι καὶ ὅλῳ δήμῳ, Χριστιανοὺς σφᾶς ὁμολογοῦντες, οὐδ᾿ ὁπωστιοῦν τοῖς προστάττουσιν εἰδωλολατρεῖν ἐπειθάρχουν.
如今竟有一隊兵丁，將弗呂家一座基督徒的小城連同其中所有的居民團團圍住，點起火來，把他們連同嬰孩和婦女一同焚燒，他們卻呼求那超乎萬有之上的神；因為全城的居民都同心合意──連那城的主理官自己、將軍，並一切在位的人，以及全體民眾──都承認自己是基督徒，無論如何都不肯順從那些命令他們拜偶像的人。
Indeed, by now, the soldiery, having surrounded in a circle a whole small town of Christians in Phrygia, with all its inhabitants, and having kindled fire, burned them up together with infants and women, while they called upon the God who is over all; because all the inhabitants of the town with one accord—the chief magistrate himself, and the general, with all the officials and the whole populace—confessing themselves Christians, would in no way whatever obey those who commanded them to worship idols.

καί τις ἕτερος Ρωμαϊκῆς ἀξίας ἐπειλημμένος, Ἄδαυκτος ὄνομα, γένος τῶν παρ᾿ Ἰταλοῖς ἐπισήμων, διὰ πάσης διελθὼν ἀνὴρ τῆς παρὰ βασιλεῦσι τιμῆς, ὡς καὶ τὰς καθόλου διοικήσεις τῆς παρ᾿ αὐτοῖς καλουμένης μαγιστρότητός τε καὶ καθολικότητος ἀμέμπτως διελθεῖν, ἐπὶ πᾶσι τούτοις διαπρέψας τοῖς ἐν θεοσεβείᾳ κατορθώμασι καὶ ταῖς εἰς τὸν Χριστὸν τοῦ θεοῦ ὁμολογίαις, τῷ τοῦ μαρτυρίου διαδήματι κατεκοσμήθη, ἐπ᾿ αὐτῆς τῆς τοῦ καθολικοῦ πράξεως τὸν ὑπὲρ εὐσεβείας ὑπομείνας ἀγῶνα.
還有一個人，名叫阿陶克託，曾得羅馬的爵秩，出身於義大利顯赫的家族，這人在皇帝面前歷盡各樣尊榮，以致無可指摘地處理了他們所稱為「掌計」與「總理」之職的全盤行政；他在這一切之上，又因在敬虔上的成就，並在對神的基督的承認上顯為卓越，便戴上了殉道的冠冕，是在他正執行「總理」之職時，為著敬虔忍受了爭戰。
And a certain other man, who had attained Roman rank, by name Adauctus, of a family illustrious among the Italians, a man who had passed through every honour with the emperors, so as blamelessly to have discharged the general administrations of what among them is called the magistracy and the office of catholicus, and who, distinguished above all these in his achievements in godliness and in his confessions of the Christ of God, was adorned with the diadem of martyrdom, having endured the conflict for the sake of godliness in the very exercise of the office of catholicus.
