5:1

Ne temere quid loquaris, neque cor tuum sit velox ad proferendum sermonem coram Deo. Deus enim in caelo, et tu super terram ; idcirco sint pauci sermones tui.

你到上帝的殿要謹慎腳步；因為近前聽，勝過愚昧人獻祭，他們本不知道所做的是惡。

Guard your steps when you go to God’s house; for to draw near to listen is better than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they don’t know that they do evil.

5:2

Multas curas sequuntur somnia, et in multis sermonibus invenietur stultitia.

你在上帝面前不可冒失開口，也不可心急發言；因為上帝在天上，你在地下，所以你的言語要寡少。

Don’t be rash with your mouth, and don’t let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and you on earth. Therefore let your words be few.

5:3

Si quid vovisti Deo, ne moreris reddere : displicet enim ei infidelis et stulta promissio, sed quodcumque voveris redde :

事務多，就令人做夢；言語多，就顯出愚昧。

For as a dream comes with a multitude of cares, so a fool’s speech with a multitude of words.

5:4

multoque melius est non vovere, quam post votum promissa non reddere.

你向上帝許願，償還不可遲延，因他不喜悅愚昧人，所以你許的願應當償還。

When you vow a vow to God, don’t defer to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay that which you vow.

5:5

Ne dederis os tuum ut peccare facias carnem tuam, neque dicas coram angelo : Non est providentia : ne forte iratus Deus contra sermones tuos dissipet cuncta opera manuum tuarum.

你許願不還，不如不許。

It is better that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay.

5:6

Ubi multa sunt somnia, plurimae sunt vanitates, et sermones innumeri ; tu vero Deum time.

不可任你的口使肉體犯罪，也不可在祭司面前說是錯許了。為何使上帝因你的聲音發怒，敗壞你手所做的呢？

Don’t allow your mouth to lead you into sin. Don’t protest before the messenger that this was a mistake. Why should God be angry at your voice, and destroy the work of your hands?

5:7

Si videris calumnias egenorum, et violenta judicia, et subverti justitiam in provincia, non mireris super hoc negotio : quia excelso excelsior est alius, et super hos quoque eminentiores sunt alii ;

多夢和多言，其中多有虛幻，你只要敬畏上帝。

For in the multitude of dreams there are vanities, as well as in many words; but you must fear God.

5:8

et insuper universae terrae rex imperat servienti.

你若在一省之中見窮人受欺壓，並奪去公義公平的事，不要因此詫異；因有一位高過居高位的鑒察，在他們以上還有更高的。

If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, don’t marvel at the matter, for one official is eyed by a higher one, and there are officials over them.

5:9

Avarus non implebitur pecunia, et qui amat divitias fructum non capiet ex eis ; et hoc ergo vanitas.

況且地的益處歸眾人，就是君王也受田地的供應。

Moreover the profit of the earth is for all. The king profits from the field.
