42:1
הֵ֤ן עַבְדִּי֙ אֶתְמׇךְ־בּ֔וֹ בְּחִירִ֖י רָצְתָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֑י נָתַ֤תִּי רוּחִי֙ עָלָ֔יו מִשְׁפָּ֖ט לַגּוֹיִ֥ם יוֹצִֽיא׃
Ιακωβ ὁ παῖς μου ἀντιλήμψομαι αὐτοῦ Ισραηλ ὁ ἐκλεκτός μου προσεδέξατο αὐτὸν ἡ ψυχή μου ἔδωκα τὸ πνεῦμά μου ἐπ’ αὐτόν κρίσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἐξοίσει
Ecce servus meus, suscipiam eum ; electus meus, complacuit sibi in illo anima mea : dedi spiritum meum super eum : judicium gentibus proferet.
ናሁ፡ ቍልዔየ፡ ዘአኀዝክዎ፤ ወእስረራኤል፡ ኅሩይየ፡ ዘተወክፈቶ፡ ነፍስየ፡ ወወሀብኩ፡ መንፈስየ፡ ዲቤሁ፣፡ ያመጽእ፡ ፍትሐ፡ ለአሕዛብ።
“Behold, my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights: I have put my Spirit on him. He will bring justice to the nations.
42:2
לֹ֥א יִצְעַ֖ק וְלֹ֣א יִשָּׂ֑א וְלֹא־יַשְׁמִ֥יעַ בַּח֖וּץ קוֹלֽוֹ׃
οὐ κεκράξεται οὐδὲ ἀνήσει οὐδὲ ἀκουσθήσεται ἔξω ἡ φωνὴ αὐτοῦ
Non clamabit, neque accipiet personam, nec audietur vox ejus foris.
ኢይኬልሕ፡ ወአኢይጤርዕ፡ ወኢይሰምዕዎ፡ ቃሎ፡ በአፍአ።
He will not shout, nor raise his voice, nor cause it to be heard in the street.
42:3
קָנֶ֤ה רָצוּץ֙ לֹ֣א יִשְׁבּ֔וֹר וּפִשְׁתָּ֥ה כֵהָ֖ה לֹ֣א יְכַבֶּ֑נָּה לֶאֱמֶ֖ת יוֹצִ֥יא מִשְׁפָּֽט׃
κάλαμον τεθλασμένον οὐ συντρίψει καὶ λίνον καπνιζόμενον οὐ σβέσει ἀλλὰ εἰς ἀλήθειαν ἐξοίσει κρίσιν
Calamum quassatum non conteret, et linum fumigans non extinguet : in veritate educet judicium.
ብርዓ፡ ቅጥቁጠ፡ ኢይሰብር፡ ወሡዐ፡ ዘይጠፍእ፣፡ ዳእሙ፡ በጽድቅ፡ ያገብእ፡ ፍትሐ።
He won’t break a bruised reed. He won’t quench a dimly burning wick. He will faithfully bring justice.
42:4
לֹ֤א יִכְהֶה֙ וְלֹ֣א יָר֔וּץ עַד־יָשִׂ֥ים בָּאָ֖רֶץ מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וּלְתוֹרָת֖וֹ אִיִּ֥ים יְיַחֵֽלוּ׃ {פ}
ἀναλάμψει καὶ οὐ θραυσθήσεται ἕως ἂν θῇ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς κρίσιν καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ ἔθνη ἐλπιοῦσιν
Non erit tristis, neque turbulentus, donec ponat in terra judicium ; et legem ejus insulae exspectabunt.
ወያበርህ፡ ወኢይጠፍእ፡ እስከ፡ ያገብእ፡ ፍትሐ፡ በውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ወይትዌከለሉ፡ አሕዛብ፡ በስሙ።
He will not fail nor be discouraged, until he has set justice on the earth, and the islands wait for his law.”
42:5
כֹּה־אָמַ֞ר הָאֵ֣ל׀יְהֹוָ֗ה בּוֹרֵ֤א הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ וְנ֣וֹטֵיהֶ֔ם רֹקַ֥ע הָאָ֖רֶץ וְצֶאֱצָאֶ֑יהָ נֹתֵ֤ן נְשָׁמָה֙ לָעָ֣ם עָלֶ֔יהָ וְר֖וּחַ לַהֹלְכִ֥ים בָּֽהּ׃
οὕτως λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ ποιήσας τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ πήξας αὐτόν ὁ στερεώσας τὴν γῆν καὶ τὰ ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ διδοὺς πνοὴν τῷ λαῷ τῷ ἐπ’ αὐτῆς καὶ πνεῦμα τοῖς πατοῦσιν αὐτήν
Haec dicit Dominus Deus, creans caelos, et extendens eos ; firmans terram, et quae germinant ex ea ; dans flatum populo qui est super eam, et spiritum calcantibus eam :
ከመዝ፡ ይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክ፡ ዘገብረ፡ ሰማየ፡ ወተከሎ፤ ወአጽንዓ፡ ለምድር፡ ወኵሎ፣፡ ዘውስቴታ፣፡ ወይሁቦሙ፡ መንፈሰ፡ ለአሕዛብ፡ ዘውስቴታ፡ ወነፍሰ፡ ለእለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ዲቤሃ።
God Yahweh, he who created the heavens and stretched them out, he who spread out the earth and that which comes out of it, he who gives breath to its people and spirit to those who walk in it, says:
42:6
אֲנִ֧י יְהֹוָ֛ה קְרָאתִ֥יךָֽ בְצֶ֖דֶק וְאַחְזֵ֣ק בְּיָדֶ֑ךָ וְאֶצׇּרְךָ֗ וְאֶתֶּנְךָ֛ לִבְרִ֥ית עָ֖ם לְא֥וֹר גּוֹיִֽם׃
ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἐκάλεσά σε ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ κρατήσω τῆς χειρός σου καὶ ἐνισχύσω σε καὶ ἔδωκά σε εἰς διαθήκην γένους εἰς φῶς ἐθνῶν
Ego Dominus vocavi te in justitia, et apprehendi manum tuam, et servavi te : et dedi te in foedus populi, in lucem gentium,
አነ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክ፡ ዘጸዋዕኩከ፡ በጽድቅ፡ ወአኀዝኩከ፡ በእዴየ፣፡ ወአጸንዐከ፡ ወእሁበከ፡ ሥርዓተ፡ ለትውልደ፡ ትውልድ፡ ለብርሃነ፡ አሕዛብ።
“I, Yahweh, have called you in righteousness. I will hold your hand. I will keep you, and make you a covenant for the people, as a light for the nations,
42:7
לִפְקֹ֖חַ עֵינַ֣יִם עִוְר֑וֹת לְהוֹצִ֤יא מִמַּסְגֵּר֙ אַסִּ֔יר מִבֵּ֥ית כֶּ֖לֶא יֹ֥שְׁבֵי חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃
ἀνοῖξαι ὀφθαλμοὺς τυφλῶν ἐξαγαγεῖν ἐκ δεσμῶν δεδεμένους καὶ ἐξ οἴκου φυλακῆς καθημένους ἐν σκότει
ut aperires oculos caecorum, et educeres de conclusione vinctum, de domo carceris sedentes in tenebris.
ወትከሥት፡ አዕይንተ፡ ዕዉራን፡ ወታወፅኦሙ፡ ለሙቁሓን፡ እማእሰር፡ ወእምቤተ፡ ሞቅሕ፡ ወለእለ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ጽልመት።
to open the blind eyes, to bring the prisoners out of the dungeon, and those who sit in darkness out of the prison.
42:8
אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה ה֣וּא שְׁמִ֑י וּכְבוֹדִי֙ לְאַחֵ֣ר לֹֽא־אֶתֵּ֔ן וּתְהִלָּתִ֖י לַפְּסִילִֽים׃
ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεός τοῦτό μού ἐστιν τὸ ὄνομα τὴν δόξαν μου ἑτέρῳ οὐ δώσω οὐδὲ τὰς ἀρετάς μου τοῖς γλυπτοῖς
Ego Dominus, hoc est nomen meum ; gloriam meam alteri non dabo, et laudem meam sculptilibus.
አነ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክ፣፡ ከመዝ፡ ስምየ፡ ወኢይሁብ፡ ለባዕድ፡ ክብርየ፡ ወስብሐትየ፡ ለግልፎ።
“I am Yahweh. That is my name. I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to engraved images.
42:9
הָרִאשֹׁנ֖וֹת הִנֵּה־בָ֑אוּ וַֽחֲדָשׁוֹת֙ אֲנִ֣י מַגִּ֔יד בְּטֶ֥רֶם תִּצְמַ֖חְנָה אַשְׁמִ֥יעַ אֶתְכֶֽם׃ {פ}
τὰ ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς ἰδοὺ ἥκασιν καὶ καινὰ ἃ ἐγὼ ἀναγγελῶ καὶ πρὸ τοῦ ἀνατεῖλαι ἐδηλώθη ὑμῖν
Quae prima fuerunt, ecce venerunt ; nova quoque ego annuntio : antequam oriantur, audita vobis faciam.
ናሁ፡ መጽአ፡ ዘትካት፡ ወዘሐዲስኒ፡ ዘነገርኩ፡ አነ፡ ወናሁ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ይዜንዉክሙ፡ ነገርኩክሙ።
Behold, the former things have happened and I declare new things. I tell you about them before they come up.”
42:10
שִׁ֤ירוּ לַֽיהֹוָה֙ שִׁ֣יר חָדָ֔שׁ תְּהִלָּת֖וֹ מִקְצֵ֣ה הָאָ֑רֶץ יוֹרְדֵ֤י הַיָּם֙ וּמְלֹא֔וֹ אִיִּ֖ים וְיֹשְׁבֵיהֶֽם׃
ὑμνήσατε τῷ κυρίῳ ὕμνον καινόν ἡ ἀρχὴ αὐτοῦ δοξάζετε τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἀπ’ ἄκρου τῆς γῆς οἱ καταβαίνοντες εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ πλέοντες αὐτήν αἱ νῆσοι καὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες αὐτάς
Cantate Domino canticum novum, laus ejus ab extremis terrae, qui descenditis in mare, et plenitudo ejus ; insulae, et habitatores earum.
ሰብሕዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ስብሐተ፡ ሐዲስ፤ ቅድሜሁ፡ ስብሐቲሁ፡ እምአጽናፈ፡ ምድር፤ እለ፡ ይወርዱ፡ ውስተ፡ ባሕር፡ ወይነግድዋ፤ ወደሰያትኒ፡ ወእለሂ፡ ይነብሩ፡ ውስቴቶን።
Sing to Yahweh a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is therein, the islands and their inhabitants.
42:11
יִשְׂא֤וּ מִדְבָּר֙ וְעָרָ֔יו חֲצֵרִ֖ים תֵּשֵׁ֣ב קֵדָ֑ר יָרֹ֙נּוּ֙ יֹ֣שְׁבֵי סֶ֔לַע מֵרֹ֥אשׁ הָרִ֖ים יִצְוָֽחוּ׃
εὐφράνθητι ἔρημος καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῆς ἐπαύλεις καὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες Κηδαρ εὐφρανθήσονται οἱ κατοικοῦντες Πέτραν ἀπ’ ἄκρων τῶν ὀρέων βοήσουσιν
Sublevetur desertum et civitates ejus. In domibus habitabit Cedar : laudate, habitatores petrae ; de vertice montium clamabunt.
ትትፌሣሕ፡ በድዉ፡ ወአህጉሪሃ።
Let the wilderness and its cities raise their voices, with the villages that Kedar inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing. Let them shout from the top of the mountains!
42:12
יָשִׂ֥ימוּ לַיהֹוָ֖ה כָּב֑וֹד וּתְהִלָּת֖וֹ בָּאִיִּ֥ים יַגִּֽידוּ׃
δώσουσιν τῷ θεῷ δόξαν τὰς ἀρετὰς αὐτοῦ ἐν ταῖς νήσοις ἀναγγελοῦσιν
Ponent Domino gloriam, et laudem ejus in insulis nuntiabunt.
ወይሴብሕዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፤ ወይነግርዎሙ፡ ለደሰያት፡ ሠናይቶ።
Let them give glory to Yahweh, and declare his praise in the islands.
42:13
יְהֹוָה֙ כַּגִּבּ֣וֹר יֵצֵ֔א כְּאִ֥ישׁ מִלְחָמ֖וֹת יָעִ֣יר קִנְאָ֑ה יָרִ֙יעַ֙ אַף־יַצְרִ֔יחַ עַל־אֹיְבָ֖יו יִתְגַּבָּֽר׃ {ס}
κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῶν δυνάμεων ἐξελεύσεται καὶ συντρίψει πόλεμον ἐπεγερεῖ ζῆλον καὶ βοήσεται ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ μετὰ ἰσχύος
Dominus sicut fortis egredietur, sicut vir praeliator suscitabit zelum ; vociferabitur, et clamabit : super inimicos suos confortabitur.
እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክ፡ ኃያል፡ ይወፅእ፤ ወይቀጠቅጥ፡ ጸብአ፡ ወያነሥእ፡ ቅንአተ፤ ወይዌውዕ፡ ዲበ፡ ፀሩ፡ በኃይሉ።
Yahweh will go out like a mighty man. He will stir up zeal like a man of war. He will raise a war cry. Yes, he will shout aloud. He will triumph over his enemies.
42:14
הֶחֱשֵׁ֙יתִי֙ מֵֽעוֹלָ֔ם אַחֲרִ֖ישׁ אֶתְאַפָּ֑ק כַּיּוֹלֵדָ֣ה אֶפְעֶ֔ה אֶשֹּׁ֥ם וְאֶשְׁאַ֖ף יָֽחַד׃
ἐσιώπησα μὴ καὶ ἀεὶ σιωπήσομαι καὶ ἀνέξομαι ἐκαρτέρησα ὡς ἡ τίκτουσα ἐκστήσω καὶ ξηρανῶ ἅμα
Tacui semper, silui, patiens fui : sicut parturiens loquar ; dissipabo, et absorbebo simul.
አርመምኩ፡ እምፍጥረተ፡ ዓለም፤ ቦኑ፡ ለግሙራ፡ እንከ፡ አረምም፤ ወእትዔገሥ፡ ከመ፡ እንተ፡ ትወልድ፡ ግብተ፤ እደመስስ፡ ወእውሕጥ፡ ኅቡረ።
“I have been silent a long time. I have been quiet and restrained myself. Now I will cry out like a travailing woman. I will both gasp and pant.
42:15
אַחֲרִ֤יב הָרִים֙ וּגְבָע֔וֹת וְכׇל־עֶשְׂבָּ֖ם אוֹבִ֑ישׁ וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י נְהָרוֹת֙ לָאִיִּ֔ים וַאֲגַמִּ֖ים אוֹבִֽישׁ׃
καὶ θήσω ποταμοὺς εἰς νήσους καὶ ἕλη ξηρανῶ
Desertos faciam montes et colles, et omne gramen eorum exsiccabo ; et ponam flumina in insulas, et stagna arefaciam.
እንከሰ፡ አየብስ፡ አድባረ፡ ወአውግረ፤ ወኵሎ፡ ሣዕሮሙ፡ አየብስ፡ ኅቡረ፤ ወአውኅዝ፡ አፍላገ፡ ውስተ፡ ደሰያት፡ ወአየብስ፡ ዖመ።
I will destroy mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs. I will make the rivers islands, and will dry up the pools.
42:16
וְהוֹלַכְתִּ֣י עִוְרִ֗ים בְּדֶ֙רֶךְ֙ לֹ֣א יָדָ֔עוּ בִּנְתִיב֥וֹת לֹא־יָדְע֖וּ אַדְרִיכֵ֑ם אָשִׂים֩ מַחְשָׁ֨ךְ לִפְנֵיהֶ֜ם לָא֗וֹר וּמַֽעֲקַשִּׁים֙ לְמִישׁ֔וֹר אֵ֚לֶּה הַדְּבָרִ֔ים עֲשִׂיתִ֖ם וְלֹ֥א עֲזַבְתִּֽים׃
καὶ ἄξω τυφλοὺς ἐν ὁδῷ ᾗ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν καὶ τρίβους οὓς οὐκ ᾔδεισαν πατῆσαι ποιήσω αὐτούς ποιήσω αὐτοῖς τὸ σκότος εἰς φῶς καὶ τὰ σκολιὰ εἰς εὐθεῖαν ταῦτα τὰ ῥήματα ποιήσω καὶ οὐκ ἐγκαταλείψω αὐτούς
Et ducam caecos in viam quam nesciunt, et in semitis quas ignoraverunt ambulare eos faciam ; ponam tenebras coram eis in lucem, et prava in recta ; haec verba feci eis, et non dereliqui eos.
ወአመጽኦሙ፡ ለዕዉራን፡ በፍኖት፡ ዘኢየአምሩ፤ መጽያሕተ፡ ዘኢይሬእዩ፡ አከይዶሙ፤ ወእሬስዮሙ፡ እምጽልመት፡ ውስተ፡ ብርሃን፤ ወእጸይሕ፡ ሎሙ፡ መብእሰ።
I will bring the blind by a way that they don’t know. I will lead them in paths that they don’t know. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. I will do these things, and I will not forsake them.
42:17
נָסֹ֤גוּ אָחוֹר֙ יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ בֹ֔שֶׁת הַבֹּטְחִ֖ים בַּפָּ֑סֶל הָאֹמְרִ֥ים לְמַסֵּכָ֖ה אַתֶּ֥ם אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ {פ}
αὐτοὶ δὲ ἀπεστράφησαν εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω αἰσχύνθητε αἰσχύνην οἱ πεποιθότες ἐπὶ τοῖς γλυπτοῖς οἱ λέγοντες τοῖς χωνευτοῖς ὑμεῖς ἐστε θεοὶ ἡμῶν
Conversi sunt retrorsum, confundantur confusione, qui confidunt in sculptili ; qui dicunt conflatili : Vos dii nostri.
ወእሙንቱሰ፡ ተመይጡ፡ ድኅሬሆሙ።
“Those who trust in engraved images, who tell molten images, ‘You are our gods,’ will be turned back. They will be utterly disappointed.
42:18
הַחֵרְשִׁ֖ים שְׁמָ֑עוּ וְהַעִוְרִ֖ים הַבִּ֥יטוּ לִרְאֽוֹת׃
οἱ κωφοί ἀκούσατε καὶ οἱ τυφλοί ἀναβλέψατε ἰδεῖν
Surdi, audite, et caeci, intuemini ad videndum.
ስምዑ፡ ጽሙማን፡ ወርእዩ፡ ዕውራን።
“Hear, you deaf, and look, you blind, that you may see.
42:19
מִ֤י עִוֵּר֙ כִּ֣י אִם־עַבְדִּ֔י וְחֵרֵ֖שׁ כְּמַלְאָכִ֣י אֶשְׁלָ֑ח מִ֤י עִוֵּר֙ כִּמְשֻׁלָּ֔ם וְעִוֵּ֖ר כְּעֶ֥בֶד יְהֹוָֽה׃
καὶ τίς τυφλὸς ἀλλ’ ἢ οἱ παῖδές μου καὶ κωφοὶ ἀλλ’ ἢ οἱ κυριεύοντες αὐτῶν καὶ ἐτυφλώθησαν οἱ δοῦλοι τοῦ θεοῦ
Quis caecus, nisi servus meus ; et surdus, nisi ad quem nuntios meos misi ? quis caecus, nisi qui venundatus est ? et quis caecus, nisi servus Domini ?
ወመኑ፡ ዕዉር፡ ዘእንበለ፡ አግብርትየ፤ ወመኑ፡ ጽሙም፡ ዘእንበለ፡ መላእክቲሆሙ፤ ወዖሩ፡ አግብርተ፡ እግዚአብሔር።
Who is blind, but my servant? Or who is as deaf as my messenger whom I send? Who is as blind as he who is at peace, and as blind as Yahweh’s servant?
42:20
(ראית) [רָא֥וֹת] רַבּ֖וֹת וְלֹ֣א תִשְׁמֹ֑ר פָּק֥וֹחַ אׇזְנַ֖יִם וְלֹ֥א יִשְׁמָֽע׃
εἴδετε πλεονάκις καὶ οὐκ ἐφυλάξασθε ἠνοιγμένα τὰ ὦτα καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσατε
Qui vides multa, nonne custodies ? qui apertas habes aures, nonne audies ?
ወትረ፡ ትሬእዩ፡ ወኢትትዐቀቡ፤ ወክሡታት፤ እዘነክሙ፡ ወኢትሰምዑ።
You see many things, but don’t observe. His ears are open, but he doesn’t listen.
42:21
יְהֹוָ֥ה חָפֵ֖ץ לְמַ֣עַן צִדְק֑וֹ יַגְדִּ֥יל תּוֹרָ֖ה וְיַאְדִּֽיר׃
κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἐβούλετο ἵνα δικαιωθῇ καὶ μεγαλύνῃ αἴνεσιν καὶ εἶδον
Et Dominus voluit ut sanctificaret eum, et magnificaret legem, et extolleret.
እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክ፡ መከረ፡ ያጽድቅ፡ ወያዕቢ፡ ስብሐቲሁ።
It pleased Yahweh, for his righteousness’ sake, to magnify the law and make it honorable.
42:22
וְהוּא֮ עַם־בָּז֣וּז וְשָׁסוּי֒ הָפֵ֤חַ בַּחוּרִים֙ כֻּלָּ֔ם וּבְבָתֵּ֥י כְלָאִ֖ים הׇחְבָּ֑אוּ הָי֤וּ לָבַז֙ וְאֵ֣ין מַצִּ֔יל מְשִׁסָּ֖ה וְאֵין־אֹמֵ֥ר הָשַֽׁב׃
καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ λαὸς πεπρονομευμένος καὶ διηρπασμένος ἡ γὰρ παγὶς ἐν τοῖς ταμιείοις πανταχοῦ καὶ ἐν οἴκοις ἅμα ὅπου ἔκρυψαν αὐτούς ἐγένοντο εἰς προνομήν καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος ἅρπαγμα καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ λέγων ἀπόδος
Ipse autem populus direptus, et vastatus ; laqueus juvenum omnes, et in domibus carcerum absconditi sunt ; facti sunt in rapinam, nec est qui eruat ; in direptionem, nec est qui dicat : Redde.
ወርኢኩ፡ ወናሁ፡ ተፄወዉ፡ ሕዝብ፡ ወተበርበሩ፤ እስመ፡ መሥገርት፡ ውስተ፡ አብያት፡ በኵለሄ፡ ወውስተ፡ ውሣጥያት፡ ኀበ፡ ኀብእዎሙ፤ ወበርበርዎሙ፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘያድኅኖሙ፣፡ ወይመሥጥዎሙ፡ ወአልቦ፡ ዘያነግፎሙ።
But this is a robbed and plundered people. All of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prisons. They have become captives, and no one delivers, and a plunder, and no one says, ‘Restore them!’
42:23
מִ֥י בָכֶ֖ם יַאֲזִ֣ין זֹ֑את יַקְשִׁ֥ב וְיִשְׁמַ֖ע לְאָחֽוֹר׃
τίς ἐν ὑμῖν ὃς ἐνωτιεῖται ταῦτα εἰσακούσεται εἰς τὰ ἐπερχόμενα
Quis est in vobis qui audiat hoc, attendat, et auscultet futura ?
መኑ፡ እምኔክሙ፡ ዘያጸምዕ፡ ዘንተ፡ ከመ፡ ይስማዕ፡ ዘይመጽእ።
Who is there among you who will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come?
42:24
מִֽי־נָתַ֨ן (למשוסה) [לִמְשִׁסָּ֧ה] יַעֲקֹ֛ב וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל לְבֹזְזִ֖ים הֲל֣וֹא יְהֹוָ֑ה ז֚וּ חָטָ֣אנוּ ל֔וֹ וְלֹֽא־אָב֤וּ בִדְרָכָיו֙ הָל֔וֹךְ וְלֹ֥א שָׁמְע֖וּ בְּתוֹרָתֽוֹ׃
τίς ἔδωκεν εἰς διαρπαγὴν Ιακωβ καὶ Ισραηλ τοῖς προνομεύουσιν αὐτόν οὐχὶ ὁ θεός ᾧ ἡμάρτοσαν αὐτῷ καὶ οὐκ ἐβούλοντο ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ πορεύεσθαι οὐδὲ ἀκούειν τοῦ νόμου αὐτοῦ
Quis dedit in direptionem Jacob, et Israël vastantibus ? nonne Dominus ipse, cui peccavimus ? Et noluerunt in viis ejus ambulare, et non audierunt legem ejus.
መኑ፡ ረሰዩ፡ ለያዕቆብ፡ ከመ፡ ይትማሠጥዎ፡ ወለእስራኤልኒ፡ ከመ፡ ይፄውውዎ፤ አኮኑ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘሎቱ፡ አበሱ፡ ወአበዩ፡ ሐዊረ፡ በፍኖቱ፡ ወኢሰምዑ፡ ሕጎ።
Who gave Jacob as plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Didn’t Yahweh, he against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in his ways, and they disobeyed his law.
42:25
וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֤ךְ עָלָיו֙ חֵמָ֣ה אַפּ֔וֹ וֶעֱז֖וּז מִלְחָמָ֑ה וַתְּלַהֲטֵ֤הוּ מִסָּבִיב֙ וְלֹ֣א יָדָ֔ע וַתִּבְעַר־בּ֖וֹ וְלֹא־יָשִׂ֥ים עַל־לֵֽב׃
καὶ ἐπήγαγεν ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς ὀργὴν θυμοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ κατίσχυσεν αὐτοὺς πόλεμος καὶ οἱ συμφλέγοντες αὐτοὺς κύκλῳ καὶ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν ἕκαστος αὐτῶν οὐδὲ ἔθεντο ἐπὶ ψυχήν
Et effudit super eum indignationem furoris sui, et forte bellum ; et combussit eum in circuitu, et non cognovit ; et succendit eum, et non intellexit.
ወአምጽአ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ መቅሠፍተ፡ መዐቱ፡ ወአጽንዐ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ፡ ቀትለ፤ ወእለሂ፡ የዐወይዉ፡ በዐውዶሙ፡ ኢየአምሩ፡ ኵሎሙ፡ ወኢይሔልዩ፡ በልቦሙ።
Therefore he poured the fierceness of his anger on him, and the strength of battle. It set him on fire all around, but he didn’t know. It burned him, but he didn’t take it to heart.”
