17:1
רוּחִ֣י חֻ֭בָּלָה יָמַ֥י נִזְעָ֗כוּ קְבָרִ֥ים לִֽי׃
ὀλέκομαι πνεύματι φερόμενος δέομαι δὲ ταφῆς καὶ οὐ τυγχάνω
Spiritus meus attenuabitur ; dies mei breviabuntur : et solum mihi superest sepulchrum.
ይፄዕረኒ፡ ዘያወዕኣ፡ ለነፍስየ፡ እትሜነዮሂ፡ ለመቃብር፡ ወኢያደምዖ።
“My spirit is consumed. My days are extinct and the grave is ready for me.
17:2
אִם־לֹ֣א הֲ֭תֻלִים עִמָּדִ֑י וּ֝בְהַמְּרוֹתָ֗ם תָּלַ֥ן עֵינִֽי׃
λίσσομαι κάμνων καὶ τί ποιήσας
Non peccavi, et in amaritudinibus moratur oculus meus.
እንዘ፡ እልሕሰ፡ ሠራሕኩ፡ ወምንተ፡ እሬሲ፡ ይዕርቁኒ፡ ነኪራን፡ ንዋይየ።
Surely there are mockers with me. My eye dwells on their provocation.
17:3
שִֽׂימָה־נָּ֭א עׇרְבֵ֣נִי עִמָּ֑ךְ מִ֥י ה֝֗וּא לְיָדִ֥י יִתָּקֵֽעַ׃
ἔκλεψαν δέ μου τὰ ὑπάρχοντα ἀλλότριοι τίς ἐστιν οὗτος τῇ χειρί μου συνδεθήτω
Libera me, Domine, et pone me juxta te, et cujusvis manus pugnet contra me.
ወመኑ፡ ውእቱ፡ ዘይመይጣ፡ ለእዴየ።
“Now give a pledge. Be collateral for me with yourself. Who is there who will strike hands with me?
17:4
כִּֽי־לִ֭בָּם צָפַ֣נְתָּ מִשָּׂ֑כֶל עַל־כֵּ֝֗ן לֹ֣א תְרֹמֵֽם׃
ὅτι καρδίαν αὐτῶν ἔκρυψας ἀπὸ φρονήσεως διὰ τοῦτο οὐ μὴ ὑψώσῃς αὐτούς
Cor eorum longe fecisti a disciplina : propterea non exaltabuntur.
እስመ፡ ኀብእዎ፡ ሰልቦሙ፡ እምሠናይ፡ ወበእንተዝ፡ ኢያሌዕሎሙ።
For you have hidden their heart from understanding, therefore you will not exalt them.
17:5
לְ֭חֵלֶק יַגִּ֣יד רֵעִ֑ים וְעֵינֵ֖י בָנָ֣יו תִּכְלֶֽנָה׃
τῇ μερίδι ἀναγγελεῖ κακίας ὀφθαλμοὶ δέ μου ἐφ’ υἱοῖς ἐτάκησαν
Praedam pollicetur sociis, et oculi filiorum ejus deficient.
ወይምህርዎ፡ እከየ፡ ለልቦሙ፡ ወተመስዋ፡ አዕይንትየ፡ በእንተ፡ ደቂቅየ።
He who denounces his friends for plunder, even the eyes of his children will fail.
17:6
וְֽ֭הִצִּיגַנִי לִמְשֹׁ֣ל עַמִּ֑ים וְתֹ֖פֶת לְפָנִ֣ים אֶהְיֶֽה׃
ἔθου δέ με θρύλημα ἐν ἔθνεσιν γέλως δὲ αὐτοῖς ἀπέβην
Posuit me quasi in proverbium vulgi, et exemplum sum coram eis.
ወረሰይከኒ፡ ነገረ፡ ለአሕዛብ፡ ወኮንክዎሙ፡ ሰሐቀ፡ ወሥላቀ።
“But he has made me a byword of the people. They spit in my face.
17:7
וַתֵּ֣כַהּ מִכַּ֣עַשׂ עֵינִ֑י וִיצֻרַ֖י כַּצֵּ֣ל כֻּלָּֽם׃
πεπώρωνται γὰρ ἀπὸ ὀργῆς οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου πεπολιόρκημαι μεγάλως ὑπὸ πάντων
Caligavit ab indignatione oculus meus, et membra mea quasi in nihilum redacta sunt.
ወዖራኒ፡ አዕይንትየ፡ እምአንብዕ፡ ወፈድፋደ፡ አስቈረሩኒ፡ ኵሎሙ።
My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow. All my members are as a shadow.
17:8
יָשֹׁ֣מּוּ יְשָׁרִ֣ים עַל־זֹ֑את וְ֝נָקִ֗י עַל־חָנֵ֥ף יִתְעֹרָֽר׃
θαῦμα ἔσχεν ἀληθινοὺς ἐπὶ τούτῳ δίκαιος δὲ ἐπὶ παρανόμῳ ἐπανασταίη
Stupebunt justi super hoc, et innocens contra hypocritam suscitabitur.
ወተአመንክዋ፡ ለዛቲ፡ ወቀብጽተኒ፡ ወርቱዕሰ፡ ትግባእ፡ ላዕለ፡ ኃጥአን።
Upright men will be astonished at this. The innocent will stir himself up against the godless.
17:9
וְיֹאחֵ֣ז צַדִּ֣יק דַּרְכּ֑וֹ וּֽטְהׇר־יָ֝דַ֗יִם יֹסִ֥יף אֹֽמֶץ׃
σχοίη δὲ πιστὸς τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ὁδόν καθαρὸς δὲ χεῖρας ἀναλάβοι θάρσος
Et tenebit justus viam suam, et mundis manibus addet fortitudinem.
ወባሕቱ፡ እትአመን፡ ከመ፡ እገብእ፡ በፍኖትየ፡ እስመ፡ ንጹሐት፡ እደውየ፡ እረክባ፡ ለፍሥሕትየ።
Yet the righteous will hold to his way. He who has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.
17:10
וְֽאוּלָ֗ם כֻּלָּ֣ם תָּ֭שֻׁבוּ וּבֹ֣אוּ נָ֑א וְלֹֽא־אֶמְצָ֖א בָכֶ֣ם חָכָֽם׃
οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ πάντες ἐρείδετε καὶ δεῦτε δή οὐ γὰρ εὑρίσκω ἐν ὑμῖν ἀληθές
Igitur omnes vos convertimini, et venite, et non inveniam in vobis ullum sapientem.
ወሀለወክሙ፡ ትርአዩኒ፡ ኵልክሙ፡ ወትምጽኡ፡ ዝየ፡ እስመ፡ አልቦ፡ ርትዕ፡ ዘእረክብ፡ በኀቤክሙ።
But as for you all, come back. I will not find a wise man among you.
17:11
יָמַ֣י עָ֭בְרוּ זִמֹּתַ֣י נִתְּק֑וּ מ֖וֹרָשֵׁ֣י לְבָבִֽי׃
αἱ ἡμέραι μου παρῆλθον ἐν βρόμῳ ἐρράγη δὲ τὰ ἄρθρα τῆς καρδίας μου
Dies mei transierunt ; cogitationes meae dissipatae sunt, torquentes cor meum.
ወኀልቃ፡ መዋዕልየ፡ እንዘ፡ ጽዩአት፡ ወተበትከ፡ ሥርወ፡ ልብየ።
My days are past. My plans are broken off, as are the thoughts of my heart.
17:12
לַ֭יְלָה לְי֣וֹם יָשִׂ֑ימוּ א֝֗וֹר קָר֥וֹב מִפְּנֵי־חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃
νύκτα εἰς ἡμέραν ἔθηκαν φῶς ἐγγὺς ἀπὸ προσώπου σκότους
Noctem verterunt in diem, et rursum post tenebras spero lucem.
መዓልት፡ ሌሊተ፡ ኮነኒ፡ ወጽልመት፡ ውስተ፡ ገጽ፡ ብርሃን፡ ገብአኒ።
They change the night into day, saying ‘The light is near’ in the presence of darkness.
17:13
אִם־אֲ֭קַוֶּה שְׁא֣וֹל בֵּיתִ֑י בַּ֝חֹ֗שֶׁךְ רִפַּ֥דְתִּי יְצוּעָֽי׃
ἐὰν γὰρ ὑπομείνω ᾅδης μου ὁ οἶκος ἐν δὲ γνόφῳ ἔστρωταί μου ἡ στρωμνή
Si sustinuero, infernus domus mea est, et in tenebris stravi lectulum meum.
ወእመሂ፡ ጐንደይኩ፡ ዳእሙ፡ ውስተ፡ መቃብር፡ ቤትየ፡ ወውስተ፡ ጽልመት፡ ተነጽፈ፡ ምስካብየ።
If I look for Sheol as my house, if I have spread my couch in the darkness,
17:14
לַשַּׁ֣חַת קָ֭רָאתִי אָ֣בִי אָ֑תָּה אִמִּ֥י וַ֝אֲחֹתִ֗י לָרִמָּֽה׃
θάνατον ἐπεκαλεσάμην πατέρα μου εἶναι μητέρα δέ μου καὶ ἀδελφὴν σαπρίαν
Putredini dixi : Pater meus es ; Mater mea, et soror mea, vermibus.
ወለሞትኒ፡ አቡየ፡ እብሎ፡ ወእምየሂ፡ ወአኃውየ፡ ዕፄያት፡ እሙንቱ።
if I have said to corruption, ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My mother,’ and ‘My sister,’
17:15
וְ֭אַיֵּה אֵפ֣וֹ תִקְוָתִ֑י וְ֝תִקְוָתִ֗י מִ֣י יְשׁוּרֶֽנָּה׃
ποῦ οὖν μου ἔτι ἐστὶν ἡ ἐλπίς ἦ τὰ ἀγαθά μου ὄψομαι
Ubi est ergo nunc praestolatio mea ? et patientiam meam quis considerat ?
አይቴ፡ ውእቱ፡ እንከ፡ ተስፋየ፡ ወእሬእያኑ፡ ለሠናይት።
where then is my hope? As for my hope, who will see it?
17:16
בַּדֵּ֣י שְׁאֹ֣ל תֵּרַ֑דְנָה אִם־יַ֖חַד עַל־עָפָ֣ר נָֽחַת׃ {פ}
ἦ μετ’ ἐμοῦ εἰς ᾅδην καταβήσονται ἢ ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἐπὶ χώματος καταβησόμεθα
In profundissimum infernum descendent omnia mea : putasne saltem ibi erit requies mihi ?
ወትወርድኑ፡ ውስተ፡ መቃብር፡ ምስሌየ፡ ወንደፈንን፡ ኅቡረ፡ ውስተ፡ መሬት።
Shall it go down with me to the gates of Sheol, or descend together into the dust?”
