📖 This chapter exists in 3 other originals — side by side (Hebrew Old Testament, Vulgate, Ge'ez Bible)
ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).

17:1
I am perishing, carried away by the wind; I beg for burial, and do not obtain it.
I entreat in weariness—and what have I done?
Strangers have stolen my possessions. Who is this man? Let him be bound by my hand.
For you have hidden their heart from understanding; therefore you will not exalt them.
He will announce evils for a share of the spoil, and my eyes have failed over my children.
You have made me a byword among the nations, and I have become a laughingstock to them.
For my eyes have grown dim from anger, and I have been greatly besieged by all.
Amazement has seized the truthful at this, and may the righteous rise up against the lawbreaker.
May the faithful man hold to his own way, and may the one clean of hands take up courage.
Nevertheless, all of you press on and come now; for I find nothing true among you.
My days have passed away in tumult, and the joints of my heart have been torn apart.
They have made night into day; they say light is near in the face of darkness.
For if I wait, Hades is my house, and my bed has been spread in gloom.
I have called death my father, and decay my mother and my sister.
Where then is my hope still? Or shall I see my good things?
Will they go down with me into Hades? Or shall we go down together into the dust?
