50:1 ⧉ ⤴︎ Σιμων Ονιου υἱὸς ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας ὃς ἐν ζωῇ αὐτοῦ ὑπέρραψεν οἶκον καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις αὐτοῦ ἐστερέωσεν ναόν
Simon , Oniæ filius , sacerdos magnus , qui in vita sua suffulsit domum , et in diebus suis corroboravit templum .
ስምዖን ፡ ወልደ ፤….ካህን ፡ ዐቢይ ፡ ወበሕይወቱ ፡ ሐነጸ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ወበመዋዕሊሁ ፡ አጽንዐ ፡ ጽርሐ ።
It was Simon, the son of Onias, the great priest, Who in his life repaired the house, And in his days strengthened the temple:
50:2 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ ἐθεμελιώθη ὕψος διπλῆς ἀνάλημμα ὑψηλὸν περιβόλου ἱεροῦ
Templi etiam altitudo ab ipso fundata est , duplex ædificatio , et excelsi parietes templi .
ወከማሁ ፡ ሣረረ ፡ ዘይነውኆ ፡ ካዕበቶ ፡ ወገብረ ፡ ልብሰ ፡ ቀጢነ ፡ ዘይትዐጸፍ ፡ ካህን ።
And by him was built from the foundation the height of the double wall, The lofty underworks of the inclosure of the temple:
50:3 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐν ἡμέραις αὐτοῦ ἐλατομήθη ἀποδοχεῖον ὑδάτων λάκκος ὡσεὶ θαλάσσης τὸ περίμετρον
In diebus ipsius emanaverunt putei aquarum , et quasi mare adimpleti sunt supra modum .
ወበመዋዕሊሁ ፡ ሐነጸ ፡ አንቅዕተ ፡ ማያት ፡ ወዐዘቅትኒ ፡ ዘከመ ፡ ማየ ፡ ባሕር ፡ ብዝኁ ።
In his days the cistern of waters was diminished, The brazen vessel in compass as the sea.
50:4 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὁ φροντίζων τοῦ λαοῦ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ πτώσεως καὶ ἐνισχύσας πόλιν ἐν πολιορκήσει
Qui curavit gentem suam , et liberavit eam a perditione :
ዘይኄልዮሙ ፡ ለሕዝቡ ፡ እምነ ፡ ድቀት ፡ ወኀሠሠ ፡ አሠረ ፡ ሀገር ፡ ወቀተለ ።
It was he that took thought for his people that they should not fall, And fortified the city against besieging:
50:5 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς ἐδοξάσθη ἐν περιστροφῇ λαοῦ ἐν ἐξόδῳ οἴκου καταπετάσματος
qui prævaluit amplificare civitatem , qui adeptus est gloriam in conversatione gentis , et ingressum domus et atrii amplificavit .
ወተሰብሐ ፡ በሚጠቶሙ ፡ ለሕዝብ ፡ ወበመንጦላዕተ ፡ አንቀጸ ፡ ቤት ።
How glorious was he when the people gathered round him At his coming forth out of the sanctuary!
50:6 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς ἀστὴρ ἑωθινὸς ἐν μέσῳ νεφελῶν ὡς σελήνη πλήρης ἐν ἡμέραις
Quasi stella matutina in medio nebulæ , et quasi luna plena , in diebus suis lucet :
ከመ ፡ ኮከበ ፡ ጽባሕ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ደመና ፡ ወከመ ፡ ወርኅ ፡ ምልእት ፡ በዕለተ ፡ ገሃህ ።
As the morning star in the midst of a cloud, As the moon at the full:
50:7 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς ἥλιος ἐκλάμπων ἐπὶ ναὸν ὑψίστου καὶ ὡς τόξον φωτίζον ἐν νεφέλαις δόξης
et quasi sol refulgens , sic ille effulsit in templo Dei .
ወከመ ፡ ፀሓይ ፡ እንተ ፡ ታበርህ ፡ በመቅደሱ ፡ ለልዑል ፡ ወከመ ፡ ስብሐተ ፡ ብርሃን ፡ በ [ቀስተ ]፡ደመና ።
As the sun shining forth upon the temple of the Most High, And as the rainbow giving light in clouds of glory:
50:8 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς ἄνθος ῥόδων ἐν ἡμέραις νέων ὡς κρίνα ἐπ’ ἐξόδῳ ὕδατος ὡς βλαστὸς Λιβάνου ἐν ἡμέραις θέρους
Quasi arcus refulgens inter nebulas gloriæ , et quasi flos rosarum in diebus vernis , et quasi lilia quæ sunt in transitu aquæ , et quasi thus redolens in diebus æstatis :
ወከመ ፡ ጽጌ ፡ ረዳ ፡ በወርኀ ፡ ኔዎን ፡ ወከመ ፡ ዘይፈሪ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሙሓዘ ፡ ማይ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ሠርጸ ፡ ሊባኖስ ፡ በመዋዕለ ፡ ማእረር ።
As the flower of roses in the days of new fruits, As lilies at the waterspring, As the shoot of the frankencense tree in the time of summer:
50:9 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς πῦρ καὶ λίβανος ἐπὶ πυρείου ὡς σκεῦος χρυσίου ὁλοσφύρητον κεκοσμημένον παντὶ λίθῳ πολυτελεῖ
quasi ignis effulgens , et thus ardens in igne :
ወከመ ፡ ስኂን ፡ ውስተ ፡ እሳት ፡ ዲበ ፡ ማዕጠንት ፡ ወከመ ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ወርቅ ፡ ዝብጦ ።
As fire and incense in the censer, As a vessel all of beaten gold Adorned with all manner of precious stones:
50:10 ⧉ ⤴︎ ὡς ἐλαία ἀναθάλλουσα καρποὺς καὶ ὡς κυπάρισσος ὑψουμένη ἐν νεφέλαις
quasi vas auri solidum , ornatum omni lapide pretioso :
ወከመ ፡ ዕፀ ፡ ዘይት ፡ እንተ ፡ ሠረጸ ፡ ፍሬሃ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ዕንቊ ፡ ክቡር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሰርጕ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ዕፀ ፡ ቄጵሮስ ፡ ነዋኅ ፡ በታሕተ ፡ ደመና ።
As an olive tree budding forth fruits, And as a cypress growing high among the clouds.
50:11 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐν τῷ ἀναλαμβάνειν αὐτὸν στολὴν δόξης καὶ ἐνδιδύσκεσθαι αὐτὸν συντέλειαν καυχήματος ἐν ἀναβάσει θυσιαστηρίου ἁγίου ἐδόξασεν περιβολὴν ἁγιάσματος
quasi oliva pullulans , et cypressus in altitudinem se extollens , in accipiendo ipsum stolam gloriæ , et vestiri eum in consummationem virtutis .
ከማሁ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ይለብስ ፡ ልብሰ ፡ ክብሩ ፡ ወሶበ ፡ ይለብስ ፡ ሰርጐ ፡ ምክሑ ፡ ወሶበ ፡ የዐርግ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መዓርገ ፡ ምሥዋዕ ፡ ወተሰብሀ ፡ በልብሰ ፡ ቅድሳተ ፡ ስብሐት ።
When he took up the robe of glory, And put on the perfection of exultation, In the ascent of the holy altar, He made glorious the precinct of the sanctuary.
50:12 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐν δὲ τῷ δέχεσθαι μέλη ἐκ χειρῶν ἱερέων καὶ αὐτὸς ἑστὼς παρ’ ἐσχάρᾳ βωμοῦ κυκλόθεν αὐτοῦ στέφανος ἀδελφῶν ὡς βλάστημα κέδρων ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ καὶ ἐκύκλωσαν αὐτὸν ὡς στελέχη φοινίκων
In ascensu altaris sancti gloriam dedit sanctitatis amictum .
ሶበ ፡ ይትሜጦ ፡ ሥጋ ፡ መሥዋዕት ፡ እምእዴሆሙ ፡ ለካህናት ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይቀውም ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምቅዋመ ፡ ግብሩ ፡ ወይቀውም ፡ ዐውዶ ፡ አኀዊሁ ፡ ወይኬልልዎ ፡ ወየዐውድዎ ፡ ከመ ፡ በቀልት ፡ ተመርት ።
And when he received the portions out of the priests’ hands, Himself also standing by the hearth of the altar, His kindred as a garland round about him, He was as a young cedar in Libanus; And as stems of palm trees compassed they him round about,
50:13 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ πάντες οἱ υἱοὶ Ααρων ἐν δόξῃ αὐτῶν καὶ προσφορὰ κυρίου ἐν χερσὶν αὐτῶν ἔναντι πάσης ἐκκλησίας Ισραηλ
In accipiendo autem partes de manu sacerdotum , et ipse stans juxta aram : et circa illum corona fratrum : quasi plantatio cedri in monte Libano ,
ወኵሎሙ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ አሮን ፡ በትርሲቶሙ ፡ ወመባአ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደዊሆሙ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ማኅበሮሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ።
And all the sons of Aaron in their glory, And the Lord’s offering in their hands, before all the congregation of Israel.
50:14 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ συντέλειαν λειτουργῶν ἐπὶ βωμῶν κοσμῆσαι προσφορὰν ὑψίστου παντοκράτορος
sic circa illum steterunt quasi rami palmæ : et omnes filii Aaron in gloria sua .
ወይገብሩ ፡ ግብሮሙ ፡ በውስተ ፡ መሥዋዕት ፡ ወያሤንዩ ፡ መሥዋዕቶ ፡ ለልዑል ፡ ዘኵሎ ፡ ይመልክ ።
And finishing the service at the altars, That he might adorn the offering of the Most High, the Almighty,
50:15 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐξέτεινεν ἐπὶ σπονδείου χεῖρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσπεισεν ἐξ αἵματος σταφυλῆς ἐξέχεεν εἰς θεμέλια θυσιαστηρίου ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας ὑψίστῳ παμβασιλεῖ
Oblatio autem Domini in manibus ipsorum coram omni synagoga Israël : et consummatione fungens in ara , amplificare oblationem excelsi Regis ,
ወአንሥአ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ በሞጻሕት ፡ ወአውጽሐ ፡ በደመ ፡ አስካል ፡ ወይሰውጥ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መሠረተ ፡ ምሥዋዕ ፡ መዐዛ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ለልዑል ፡ ለንጉሠ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ነገሥት ።
He stretched out his hand to the cup, And poured out the cup of the grape; He poured out at the foot of the altar A sweet smelling savor to the Most High, the King of all.
50:16 ⧉ ⤴︎ τότε ἀνέκραγον οἱ υἱοὶ Ααρων ἐν σάλπιγξιν ἐλαταῖς ἤχησαν ἀκουστὴν ἐποίησαν φωνὴν μεγάλην εἰς μνημόσυνον ἔναντι ὑψίστου
porrexit manum suam in libatione , et libavit de sanguine uvæ .
ወያነብቡ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ አሮን ፡ ወይነፍኁ ፡ በቀርነ ፡ ዝብጦ ፡ ወያሰምዑ ፡ ድምፆ ፡ በዐቢይ ፡ ቃል ፡ ተዝካረ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ ልዑል ።
Then shouted the sons of Aaron, They sounded the trumpets of beaten work, They made a great noise to be heard, For a remembrance before the Most High.
50:17 ⧉ ⤴︎ τότε πᾶς ὁ λαὸς κοινῇ κατέσπευσαν καὶ ἔπεσαν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν προσκυνῆσαι τῷ κυρίῳ αὐτῶν παντοκράτορι θεῷ ὑψίστῳ
Effudit in fundamento altaris odorem divinum excelso Principi .
ይእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ኅቡረ ፡ ያዐርፉ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወይሰግዱ ፡ በገጾሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወይገንዩ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ እግዚኦሙ ፡ ለልዑል ፡ ዘኵሎ ፡ ይመልክ ።
Then all the people together hurried, And fell down upon the earth on their faces To worship their Lord, the Almighty, God Most High.
50:18 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ᾔνεσαν οἱ ψαλτῳδοὶ ἐν φωναῖς αὐτῶν ἐν πλείστῳ ἤχῳ ἐγλυκάνθη μέλος
Tunc exclamaverunt filii Aaron , in tubis productilibus sonuerunt : et auditam fecerunt vocem magnam in memoriam coram Deo .
ወይሴብሕዎ ፡ መዘምራን ፡ በቃሎሙ ፡ ወይመልእ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ዕበየ ፡ ጕማ ፡ ቃሎሙ ።
The singers also praised him with their voices; In the whole house was there made sweet melody.
50:19 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐδεήθη ὁ λαὸς κυρίου ὑψίστου ἐν προσευχῇ κατέναντι ἐλεήμονος ἕως συντελεσθῇ κόσμος κυρίου καὶ τὴν λειτουργίαν αὐτοῦ ἐτελείωσαν
Tunc omnis populus simul properaverunt , et ceciderunt in faciem super terram , adorare Dominum Deum suum , et dare preces omnipotenti Deo excelso .
ወይጼልዩ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ልዑል ፡ ወይስእሉ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ለመሓሪ ፡ እስከ ፡ ይፌጽሙ ፡ በሕገ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይገብሩ ፡ ግብሮሙ ።
And the people implored the Lord Most High, In prayer before him that is merciful. Till the worship of the Lord should be ended; And so they accomplished his service.
50:20 ⧉ ⤴︎ τότε καταβὰς ἐπῆρεν χεῖρας αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πᾶσαν ἐκκλησίαν υἱῶν Ισραηλ δοῦναι εὐλογίαν κυρίου ἐκ χειλέων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ καυχήσασθαι
Et amplificaverunt psallentes in vocibus suis , et in magna domo auctus est sonus suavitatis plenus .
ወእምዝ ፡ ወረደ ፡ ወአንሥአ ፡ እዴሁ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ማኅበሮሙ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ከመ ፡ የሀቦሙ ፡ በረከተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ በከናፍሪሁ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ይትመክሑ ፡ በስሙ ።
Then he went down, and lifted up his hands Over the whole congregation of the children of Israel, To give blessing to the Lord with his lips, And to glory in his name.
50:21 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ ἐδευτέρωσαν ἐν προσκυνήσει ἐπιδέξασθαι τὴν εὐλογίαν παρὰ ὑψίστου
Et rogavit populus Dominum excelsum in prece , usque dum perfectus est honor Domini , et munus suum perfecerunt .
ወደገሙ ፡ ሰጊደ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያርኢ ፡ ልዑል ፡ በረከቶ ።
And he bowed himself down in worship the second time, To declare the blessing from the Most High.
50:22 ⧉ ⤴︎ καὶ νῦν εὐλογήσατε τὸν θεὸν πάντων τὸν μεγάλα ποιοῦντα πάντῃ τὸν ὑψοῦντα ἡμέρας ἡμῶν ἐκ μήτρας καὶ ποιοῦντα μεθ’ ἡμῶν κατὰ τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
Tunc descendens , manus suas extulit in omne congregationem filiorum Israël , dare gloriam Deo a labiis suis , et in nomine ipsius gloriari :
ወይእዜኒ ፡ ባርክዎ ፡ ለአምላከ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘይገብር ፡ ዐቢየ ፡ በኵለሄ ፡ ዘያነውኅ ፡ መዋዕሊነ ፡ እምከርሠ ፡ እምነ ፡ ወይገብር ፡ ምስሌነ ፡ በከመ ፡ ምሕረቱ ።
And now bless you⌃ the God of all, Which everywhere does great things, Which exalts our days from the womb, And deals with us according to his mercy.
50:23 ⧉ ⤴︎ δῴη ἡμῖν εὐφροσύνην καρδίας καὶ γενέσθαι εἰρήνην ἐν ἡμέραις ἡμῶν ἐν Ισραηλ κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας τοῦ αἰῶνος
et iteravit orationem suam , volens ostendere virtutem Dei .
ወየሀበነ ፡ ትፍሥሕተ ፡ ልብ ፡ ወይ [ግበ ]ር ፡ ሰላመ ፡ በመዋዕሊነ ፡ ወበላዕለኒ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ በአምጣነ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ ዓለም ።
May he grant us joyfulness of heart, And that peace may be in our days in Israel for the days of eternity:
50:24 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐμπιστεύσαι μεθ’ ἡμῶν τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἡμῶν λυτρωσάσθω ἡμᾶς
Et nunc orate Deum omnium , qui magna fecit in omni terra , qui auxit dies nostros a ventre matris nostræ , et fecit nobiscum secundum suam misericordiam :
ወተአመነ ፡ ምስሌነ ፡ ምሕረቱ ፡ ወቤዘወነ ፡ በመዋዕሊነ ።
To intrust his mercy with us; And let him deliver us in his time!
50:25 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐν δυσὶν ἔθνεσιν προσώχθισεν ἡ ψυχή μου καὶ τὸ τρίτον οὐκ ἔστιν ἔθνος
det nobis jucunditatem cordis , et fieri pacem in diebus nostris in Israël per dies sempiternos :
ክልኤተ ፡ አሕዛበ ፡ ጸልአት ፡ ነፍስየ ፡ ወሣልሶሙሰ ፡ ኢኮነ ፡ ሕዝብ ።
With two nations is my soul vexed, And the third is no nation:
50:26 ⧉ ⤴︎ οἱ καθήμενοι ἐν ὄρει Σαμαρείας καὶ Φυλιστιιμ καὶ ὁ λαὸς ὁ μωρὸς ὁ κατοικῶν ἐν Σικιμοις
credere Israël nobiscum esse Dei misericordiam , ut liberet nos in diebus suis .
እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ደብረ ፡ ሰማርያ ፡ ወፍልስጥኤም ፡ ወሕዝበ ፡ አሞሬዎን ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሰቂማ ።
They that sit upon the mountain of Samaria, and the Philistines, And that foolish people that dwells in Sichem.
50:27 ⧉ ⤴︎ παιδείαν συνέσεως καὶ ἐπιστήμης ἐχάραξεν ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τούτῳ Ἰησοῦς υἱὸς Σιραχ Ελεαζαρ ὁ Ιεροσολυμίτης ὃς ἀνώμβρησεν σοφίαν ἀπὸ καρδίας αὐτοῦ
Duas gentes odit anima mea : tertia autem non est gens quam oderim :
ትምህርተ ፡ ጥበብ ፡ ወተግሣጽ ፡ ጸሐፍኩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ መጽሐፍ ፡ ኢያሱ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ሲራክ ፡ ወልደ ፡ አልዐዛር ፡ ዘኢየሩሳሌም ፡ ዘአንቅዓ ፡ ለጥበብ ፡ እምልቡ ።
I have written in this book the instruction of understanding and knowledge, I Jesus, the son of Sirach Eleazar, of Jerusalem, Who out of his heart poured forth wisdom.
50:28 ⧉ ⤴︎ μακάριος ὃς ἐν τούτοις ἀναστραφήσεται καὶ θεὶς αὐτὰ ἐπὶ καρδίαν αὐτοῦ σοφισθήσεται
qui sedent in monte Seir , et Philisthiim , et stultus populus qui habitat in Sichimis .
ብፁዕ ፡ ዘይገብር ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ወዘይጠብብ ፡ ወየዐቅቦ ፡ ለዝንቱ ።
Blessed is he that shall be exercised in these things; And he that lays them up in his heart shall become wise.
50:29 ⧉ ⤴︎ ἐὰν γὰρ αὐτὰ ποιήσῃ πρὸς πάντα ἰσχύσει ὅτι φῶς κυρίου τὸ ἴχνος αὐτοῦ
Doctrinam sapientiæ et disciplinæ scripsit in codice isto Jesus , filius Sirach , Jerosolymita , qui renovavit sapientiam de corde suo .
ዘዘንተ ፡ ገብረ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ይክል ፡ እስመ ፡ ብርሃኑ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ አሠሩ ።
For if he do them, he shall be strong to all things: For the light of the Lord is his guide.
