2:1

ወሶበ፡ አተውኩ፡ ቤትየ፡ አግብኡ፡ ሊተ፡ ሐናሃ፡ ብእሲትየ፡ በዕለተ፡ በዓለ፡ ጰንጠቈስጤ፡ ቅድስት፡ ሳብዕ፡ ሰንበት፡ ገብሩ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ ሠናየ፡ ወረፈቁ፡ እብላዕ።

後來我回到家中，妻子安納與兒子託比亞都歸還給了我。在五旬節，就是那七七的聖節，有人為我預備了豐盛的筵席，我便坐下用飯。

Now when I had come home again, and my wife Anna was restored to me, and my son Tobias, in the feast of Pentecost, which is the holy feast of the seven weeks, there was a good dinner prepared me, and I sat down to eat.

2:2

ወርእኪ፡ ከመ፡ መስየ፡ በሕቁ፡ ወእቤሎ፡ ለወልድየ፡ ሑር፡ አምጽእ፡ ዘረከብከ፡ እምአኃዊነ፡ ቢጸ፡ ነዳያን፡ እስመ፡ ተዘከርክዎ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ እጸንሐከ፡ እስከ፡ ትገብእ።

我看見席上佳餚甚多，就對我的兒子說：「你去，把你所能找到的、我們弟兄中記念主的窮人帶來。看哪，我在這裡等你。」

I saw abundance of meat, and I said to my son, “Go and bring whatever poor man you find of our kindred, who is mindful of the Lord. Behold, I wait for you.”

2:3

ወሶበ፡ ገብአ፡ ወይቤለኒ፡ አባ፡ ረከብኩ፡ አሐደ፡ እምሕዝብ፡ ወግዱፍ፡ በድኑ፡ ውስተ፡ ምሥያጥ።

他回來說：「父親，我們本族中有一個人被人勒死，拋棄在市場上。」

Then he came, and said, “Father, one of our race is strangled, and has been cast out in the marketplace.”

2:4

ወአነሂ፡ ተንሣእኩ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ እጥዓም፡ እክለ፡ ወአባዕክዎ፡ ውስተ፡ አሐዱ፡ ቤት፡ እስከ፡ የዓርብ፡ ፀሐይ።

我還沒有嚐到一點食物，就跳起來，把那屍體抬到一間屋子裡，等候日落。

Before I had tasted anything, I sprang up, and took him up into a chamber until the sun had set.

2:5

ወገባዕኩ፡ ውስተ፡ ቤትየ፡ ወተሐፀብኩ፡ ወበላዕኩ፡ እክልየ፡ በኃዘን።

然後我回來，洗了身，含著愁苦喫我的飯，

Then I returned, washed myself, ate my bread in heaviness,

2:6

ወተዘከርኩ፡ ዘይቤ፡ አሞጽ፡ ይትመየጥ፡ በዓላቲክሙ፡ ውስተ፡ ብካይ።

並想起亞毛斯先知的預言，他曾說：『你們的節期必變為悲哀，你們一切的歡樂必變為哀號。』我就哭了。

and remembered the prophecy of Amos, as he said, “Your feasts will be turned into mourning, and all your mirth into lamentation.

2:7

ወእምዝ፡ በከይኩ፡ ወሶበ፡ ዓርበ፡ ፀሐይ፡ ሖርኩ፡ ወከረይኩ፡ ወቀበርክዎ።

等到日落，我便去挖了一個墳坑，將他埋葬了。

So I wept: and when the sun had set, I went and dug a grave, and buried him.

2:8

ወሰሐቁ፡ ላዕሌየ፡ ሰብአ፡ ብሔር፡ ወይቤሉ፡ ኢይፈርህኑ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ኢይቅትልዎ፡ በእንተ፡ ዝንቱ፡ ግብር፡ እስመ፡ ይቀብሮሙ፡ ለእለ፡ ቀተለ፡ ንጉሥ።

我的鄰舍譏笑我說：「他竟不再怕為這事被處死了。他從前為此逃走，看哪，如今又埋葬死人。」

My neighbors mocked me, and said, “He is no longer afraid to be put to death for this matter; and yet he fled away. Behold, he buries the dead again.”

2:9

ወበይእቲ፡ ሌሊት፡ ቤትኩ፡ ስኩብየ፡ ውስተ፡ ዓረፍተ፡ ዓፀድ፡ ወክሡት፡ ገጽየ።

就在那一夜，我埋葬死人回來，因身體沾染了污穢，便睡在自己院子的牆邊，臉也沒有遮蓋。

The same night I returned from burying him, and slept by the wall of my courtyard, being polluted; and my face was uncovered.
