16:1

Igitur Sarai, uxor Abram, non genuerat liberos : sed habens ancillam aegyptiam nomine Agar,

亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊不給他生兒女。撒萊有一個使女，名叫夏甲，是埃及人。

Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, bore him no children. She had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

16:2

dixit marito suo : Ecce, conclusit me Dominus, ne parerem. Ingredere ad ancillam meam, si forte saltem ex illa suscipiam filios. Cumque ille acquiesceret deprecanti,

撒萊對亞伯蘭說：「耶和華使我不能生育。求你和我的使女同房，或者我可以因她得孩子。」亞伯蘭聽從了撒萊的話。

Sarai said to Abram, “See now, Yahweh has restrained me from bearing. Please go in to my servant. It may be that I will obtain children by her.” Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

16:3

tulit Agar aegyptiam ancillam suam post annos decem quam habitare coeperant in terra Chanaan : et dedit eam viro suo uxorem.

於是亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊將使女埃及人夏甲給了丈夫為妾；那時亞伯蘭在迦南已經住了十年。

Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her servant, after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to Abram her husband to be his wife.

16:4

Qui ingressus est ad eam. At illa concepisse se videns, despexit dominam suam.

亞伯蘭與夏甲同房，夏甲就懷了孕；她見自己有孕，就小看她的主母。

He went in to Hagar, and she conceived. When she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.

16:5

Dixitque Sarai ad Abram : Inique agis contra me : ego dedi ancillam meam in sinum tuum, quae videns quod conceperit, despectui me habet : judicet Dominus inter me et te.

撒萊對亞伯蘭說：「我因你受屈。我將我的使女放在你懷中，她見自己有了孕，就小看我。願耶和華在你我中間判斷。」

Sarai said to Abram, “This wrong is your fault. I gave my servant into your bosom, and when she saw that she had conceived, she despised me. May Yahweh judge between me and you.”

16:6

Cui respondens Abram : Ecce, ait, ancilla tua in manu tua est, utere ea ut libet. Affligente igitur eam Sarai, fugam iniit.

亞伯蘭對撒萊說：「使女在你手下，你可以隨意待她。」撒萊苦待她，她就從撒萊面前逃走了。

But Abram said to Sarai, “Behold, your maid is in your hand. Do to her whatever is good in your eyes.” Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her face.

16:7

Cumque invenisset eam angelus Domini juxta fontem aquae in solitudine, qui est in via Sur in deserto,

耶和華的使者在曠野書珥路上的水泉旁遇見她，

Yahweh’s angel found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain on the way to Shur.

16:8

dixit ad illam : Agar ancilla Sarai, unde venis ? et quo vadis ? Quae respondit : A facie Sarai dominae meae ego fugio.

對她說：「撒萊的使女夏甲，你從哪裏來？要往哪裏去？」夏甲說：「我從我的主母撒萊面前逃出來。」

He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s servant, where did you come from? Where are you going?” She said, “I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.”

16:9

Dixitque ei angelus Domini : Revertere ad dominam tuam, et humiliare sub manu illius.

耶和華的使者對她說：「你回到你主母那裏，服在她手下」；

Yahweh’s angel said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands.”
