40:1
His ita gestis, accidit ut peccarent duo eunuchi, pincerna regis Aegypti, et pistor, domino suo.
這事以後，埃及王的酒政和膳長得罪了他們的主－埃及王，
After these things, the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended their lord, the king of Egypt.
40:2
Iratusque contra eos Pharao (nam alter pincernis praeerat, alter pistoribus),
法老就惱怒酒政和膳長這二臣，
Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cup bearer and the chief baker.
40:3
misit eos in carcerem principis militum, in quo erat vinctus et Joseph.
把他們下在護衛長府內的監裏，就是約瑟被囚的地方。
He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.
40:4
At custos carceris tradidit eos Joseph, qui et ministrabat eis : aliquantulum temporis fluxerat, et illi in custodia tenebantur.
護衛長把他們交給約瑟，約瑟便伺候他們；他們有些日子在監裏。
The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.
40:5
Videruntque ambo somnium nocte una, juxta interpretationem congruam sibi :
被囚在監之埃及王的酒政和膳長二人同夜各做一夢，各夢都有講解。
They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.
40:6
ad quos cum introisset Joseph mane, et vidisset eos tristes,
到了早晨，約瑟進到他們那裏，見他們有愁悶的樣子。
Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and saw that they were sad.
40:7
sciscitatus est eos, dicens : Cur tristior est hodie solito facies vestra ?
他便問法老的二臣，就是與他同囚在他主人府裏的，說：「你們今日為甚麼面帶愁容呢？」
He asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in custody in his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”
40:8
Qui responderunt : Somnium vidimus, et non est qui interpretetur nobis. Dixitque ad eos Joseph : Numquid non Dei est interpretatio ? referte mihi quid videritis.
他們對他說：「我們各人做了一夢，沒有人能解。」約瑟說：「解夢不是出於上帝嗎？請你們將夢告訴我。」
They said to him, “We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it.” Joseph said to them, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me.”
40:9
Narravit prior, praepositus pincernarum, somnium suum : Videbam coram me vitem,
酒政便將他的夢告訴約瑟說：「我夢見在我面前有一棵葡萄樹，
The chief cup bearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “In my dream, behold, a vine was in front of me,
40:10
in qua erant tres propagines, crescere paulatim in gemmas, et post flores uvas maturescere :
樹上有三根枝子，好像發了芽，開了花，上頭的葡萄都成熟了。
and in the vine were three branches. It was as though it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters produced ripe grapes.
40:11
calicemque Pharaonis in manu mea : tuli ergo uvas, et expressi in calicem quem tenebam, et tradidi poculum Pharaoni.
法老的杯在我手中，我就拿葡萄擠在法老的杯裏，將杯遞在他手中。」
Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.”
40:12
Respondit Joseph : Haec est interpretatio somnii : tres propagines, tres adhuc dies sunt :
約瑟對他說：「你所做的夢是這樣解：三根枝子就是三天；
Joseph said to him, “This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days.
40:13
post quos recordabitur Pharao ministerii tui, et restituet te in gradum pristinum : dabisque ei calicem juxta officium tuum, sicut ante facere consueveras.
三天之內，法老必提你出監，叫你官復原職，你仍要遞杯在法老的手中，和先前作他的酒政一樣。
Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head, and restore you to your office. You will give Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, the way you did when you were his cup bearer.
40:14
Tantum memento mei, cum bene tibi fuerit, et facias mecum misericordiam : ut suggeras Pharaoni ut educat me de isto carcere :
但你得好處的時候，求你記念我，施恩與我，在法老面前提說我，救我出這監牢。
But remember me when it is well with you. Please show kindness to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house.
40:15
quia furto sublatus sum de terra Hebraeorum, et hic innocens in lacum missus sum.
我實在是從希伯來人之地被拐來的；我在這裏也沒有做過甚麼，叫他們把我下在監裏。」
For indeed, I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.”
40:16
Videns pistorum magister quod prudenter somnium dissolvisset, ait : Et ego vidi somnium : quod tria canistra farinae haberem super caput meum :
膳長見夢解得好，就對約瑟說：「我在夢中見我頭上頂着三筐白餅；
When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also was in my dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.
40:17
et in uno canistro quod erat excelsius, portare me omnes cibos qui fiunt arte pistoria, avesque comedere ex eo.
極上的筐子裏有為法老烤的各樣食物，有飛鳥來吃我頭上筐子裏的食物。」
In the uppermost basket there were all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
40:18
Respondit Joseph : Haec est interpretatio somnii : tria canistra, tres adhuc dies sunt :
約瑟說：「你的夢是這樣解：三個筐子就是三天；
Joseph answered, “This is its interpretation. The three baskets are three days.
40:19
post quos auferet Pharao caput tuum, ac suspendet te in cruce, et lacerabunt volucres carnes tuas.
三天之內，法老必斬斷你的頭，把你掛在木頭上，必有飛鳥來吃你身上的肉。」
Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head from off you, and will hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from off you.”
40:20
Exinde dies tertius natalitius Pharaonis erat : qui faciens grande convivium pueris suis, recordatus est inter epulas magistri pincernarum, et pistorum principis.
到了第三天，是法老的生日，他為眾臣僕設擺筵席，把酒政和膳長提出監來，
On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he made a feast for all his servants, and he lifted up the head of the chief cup bearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.
40:21
Restituitque alterum in locum suum, ut porrigeret ei poculum :
使酒政官復原職，他仍舊遞杯在法老手中；
He restored the chief cup bearer to his position again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand;
40:22
alterum suspendit in patibulo, ut conjectoris veritas probaretur.
但把膳長掛起來，正如約瑟向他們所解的話。
but he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.
40:23
Et tamen succedentibus prosperis, praepositus pincernarum oblitus est interpretis sui.
酒政卻不記念約瑟，竟忘了他。
Yet the chief cup bearer didn’t remember Joseph, but forgot him.
