First of all, believe that God is one, who created and framed all things and made all things to be out of nothing, and who contains all things but is himself alone uncontained.
Believe in him, then, and fear him; and fearing him, exercise self-control. Keep these things, and you shall cast off all wickedness from yourself and shall put on every virtue of righteousness, and shall live to God, if you keep this commandment.
