9:1.1

Ἐντέλλομαί σοι, φησίν, φυλάσσειν τὴν ἁγνείαν, καὶ μὴ ἀναβαινέτω σου ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν περὶ γυναικὸς ἀλλοτρίας ἢ περὶ πορνείας τινὸς ἢ περὶ τοιούτων τινῶν ὁμοιωμάτων πονηρῶν. τοῦτο γὰρ ποιῶν μεγάλην ἁμαρτίαν ἐργάζῃ. τῆς δὲ σῆς μνημονεύων πάντοτε γυναικὸς οὐδέποτε διαμαρτήσεις

I command you, he said, to keep purity, and let no thought concerning another's wife, or concerning any fornication, or concerning any such wicked things, arise in your heart; for by doing this you commit a great sin. But by always remembering your own wife you shall never go wrong.

他說：「我吩咐你要持守貞潔，不可讓任何關乎別人妻子的念頭，或關乎任何淫亂的念頭，或關乎任何這類邪惡之事的念頭，在你心中興起；因為這樣行，你就犯了大罪。但你若常常記念你自己的妻子，就永不至於犯錯。」

9:1.2

ἐὰν γὰρ αὕτη ἡ ἐνθύμησις ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν σου ἀναβῇ, διαμαρτήσεις, καὶ ἐὰν ἕτερα οὕτως πονηρά, ἁμαρτίαν ἐργάζῃ: ἡ γὰρ ἐνθύμησις αὕτη θεοῦ δούλῳ ἁμαρτία μεγάλη ἐστίν: ἐὰν δέ τις ἐργάσηται τὸ ἔργον τὸ πονηρὸν τοῦτο, θάνατον ἑαυτῷ κατεργάζεται

For if this thought arises in your heart, you will go wrong; and if other thoughts as wicked arise, you commit sin. For this thought is a great sin for a servant of God; and if anyone does this wicked deed, he works death for himself.

因為這念頭若在你心中興起，你就要犯錯；別的同樣邪惡的念頭若興起，你也犯了罪。因為這念頭對神的僕人乃是大罪；人若行這惡事，就是給自己招來死亡。

9:1.3

βλέπε οὖν σύ: ἀπέχου ἀπὸ τῆς ἐνθυμήσεως ταύτης: ὅπου γὰρ σεμνότης κατοικεῖ, ἐκεῖ ἀνομία οὐκ ὀφείλει ἀναβαίνειν ἐπὶ καρδίαν ἀνδρὸς δικαίου

Look to it, then: keep away from this thought; for where reverence dwells, there lawlessness ought not to arise in the heart of a righteous man.

所以你要留意，遠離這念頭；因為莊重所住的地方，不法就不該在義人心中興起。

9:1.4

λέγω αὐτῷ: Κύριε, ἐπίτρεψόν μοι ὀλίγα ἐπερωτῆσαί σε. Λέγε, φησίν. Κύριε, φημί, εἰ γυναῖκα ἔχῃ τις πιστὴν ἐν κυρίῳ καὶ ταύτην εὕρῃ ἐν μοιχείᾳ τινί, ἆρα ἁμαρτάνει ὁ ἀνὴρ συνζῶν μετ̓ αὐτῆς

I said to him: Lord, permit me to ask you a few things. Speak, he said. Lord, I said, if someone has a wife who is faithful in the Lord, and he finds her in some adultery, does the husband sin by continuing to live with her?

我對他說：「主啊，求你容我問你幾件事。」他說：「你說吧。」我說：「主啊，人若有一個在主裡忠信的妻子，卻發現她犯了姦淫，這丈夫繼續與她同住算犯罪嗎？」

9:1.5

Ἄχρι τῆς ἀγνοίας, φησίν, οὐχ ἁμαρτάνει: ἐὰν δὲ γνῷ ὁ ἀνὴρ τὴν ἁμαρτίαν αὐτῆς καὶ μὴ μετανοήσῃ ἡ γυνή, ἀλλ̓ ἐπιμένῃ τῇ πορνείᾳ αὐτῆς καὶ συνζῇ ὁ ἀνὴρ μετ̓ αὐτῆς, ἔνοχος γίνεται τῆς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῆς καὶ κοινωνὸς τῆς μοιχείας αὐτῆς

As long as he is ignorant, he said, he does not sin; but if the husband knows of her sin and the wife does not repent but persists in her fornication, and the husband continues to live with her, he becomes guilty of her sin and a partaker in her adultery.

他說：「在他不知情的時候，不算犯罪；但若丈夫知道了她的罪，妻子卻不悔改，仍持續她的淫亂，而丈夫繼續與她同住，他就要擔當她的罪，並與她的姦淫有份。」

9:1.6

Τί οὖν, φημί, κύριε, ποιήσῃ ὁ ἀνήρ, ἐὰν ἐπιμείνῃ τῷ πάθει τούτῳ ἡ γυνή; Ἀπολυσάτω, φησίν, αὐτὴν καὶ ὁ ἀνὴρ ἐφ̓ ἑαυτῷ μενέτω: ἐὰν δὲ ἀπολύσας τὴν γυναῖκα ἑτέραν γαμήσῃ, καὶ αὐτὸς μοιχᾶται

What then, I said, lord, should the husband do, if the wife persists in this passion? Let him divorce her, he said, and let the husband remain by himself; but if, having divorced his wife, he marries another, he too commits adultery.

我說：「主啊，那麼妻子若持續這樣的情慾，丈夫該怎麼辦呢？」他說：「讓他休了她，自己獨身度日；但他若休了妻子又另娶別人，他自己也是犯姦淫。」

9:1.7

Ἐὰν οὖν, φημί, κύριε, μετὰ τὸ ἀπολυθῆναι τὴν γυναῖκα μετανοήσῃ ἡ γυνὴ καὶ θελήσῃ ἐπὶ τὸν ἑαυτῆς ἄνδρα ὑποστρέψαι, οὐ παραδεχθήσεται

If then, I said, lord, after the wife is divorced she repents and wishes to return to her own husband, shall she not be received back?

我說：「主啊，那麼妻子被休之後若悔改，願意回到自己丈夫那裡，難道不該被接納回來嗎？」

9:1.8

Καὶ μήν, φησίν, ἐὰν μὴ παραδέξηται αὐτὴν ὁ ἀνήρ, ἁμαρτάνει καὶ μεγάλην ἁμαρτίαν ἑαυτῷ ἐπισπᾶται, ἀλλὰ δεῖ παραδεχθῆναι τὸν ἡμαρτηκότα καὶ μετανοοῦντα, μὴ ἐπὶ πολὺ δέ: τοῖς γὰρ δούλοις τοῦ θεοῦ μετάνοιά ἐστιν μία. διὰ τὴν μετάνοιαν οὖν οὐκ ὀφείλει γαμεῖν ὁ ἀνήρ. αὕτη ἡ πρᾶξις ἐπὶ γυναικὶ καὶ ἀνδρὶ κεῖται

Indeed, he said, if the husband does not receive her back, he sins and brings a great sin upon himself; but the one who has sinned and repents must be received back, though not many times; for there is but one repentance for the servants of God. For the sake of repentance, then, the husband ought not to marry. This course applies to wife and husband alike.

他說：「實在的，丈夫若不接納她回來，就犯了罪，給自己招來大罪；那犯了罪又悔改的人，必須被接納回來，只是不可多次；因為神的僕人只有一次悔改。所以為著悔改的緣故，丈夫不該另娶。這規矩同樣適用於妻子和丈夫。」

9:1.9

οὐ μόνον, φησίν, μοιχεία ἐστίν, ἐάν τις τὴν σάρκα αὐτοῦ μιάνῃ, ἀλλὰ καὶ ὃς ἂν τὰ ὁμοιώματα ποιῇ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, μοιχᾶται. ὥστε καὶ ἐν τοῖς τοιούτοις ἔργοις ἐὰν ἐμμένῃ τις καὶ μὴ μετανοῇ, ἀπέχου ἀπ̓ αὐτοῦ καὶ μὴ συνζῆθι αὐτῷ: εἰ δὲ μή, καὶ σὺ μέτοχος εἶ τῆς ἀμαρτίας αὐτοῦ

Not only, he said, is it adultery if anyone defiles his flesh, but whoever does things like the gentiles also commits adultery. So if anyone persists in such deeds and does not repent, keep away from him and do not live with him; otherwise you too are a partaker in his sin.

他說：「不單人玷污自己的肉體算是姦淫，凡行那像外邦人所行之事的，也是犯姦淫。所以人若持續行這樣的事而不悔改，你就要遠離他，不與他同住；不然你也與他的罪有份。」

9:1.10

διὰ τοῦτο προσετάγη ὑμῖν ἐφ̓ ἑαυτοῖς μένειν, εἴτε ἀνὴρ εἴτε γυνή: δύναται γὰρ ἐν τοῖς τοιούτοις μετάνοια εἶναι

For this reason you were instructed to remain by yourselves, whether husband or wife; for in such cases repentance is possible.

為此你們蒙了吩咐要獨身度日，無論是丈夫或妻子；因為在這樣的情形下，悔改是可能的。

9:1.11

ἐγὼ οὖν, φησίν, οὐ δίδωμι ἀφορμήν, ἵνα αὕτη ἡ πρᾶξις οὕτως συντελῆται, ἀλλὰ εἰς τὸ μηκέτι ἁμαρτάνειν τὸν ἡμαρτηκότα. περὶ δὲ τῆς προτέρας ἁμαρτίας αὐτοῦ ἔστιν ὁ δυνάμενος ἴασιν δοῦναι: αὐτὸς γάρ ἐστιν ὁ ἔχων πάντων τὴν ἐξουσίαν

I, then, he said, do not give occasion for this matter to be carried out in this way, but rather that the one who has sinned should sin no more. But concerning his former sin, there is one who is able to give healing; for he is the one who has authority over all.

他說：「我並不是給人開路，叫這事這樣去行，乃是要那犯了罪的人不再犯罪。但論到他從前的罪，有一位能施醫治；因為他是那有權柄管理萬有的。」

9:2.1

Ἠρώτησα δὲ αὐτὸν πάλιν λέγων: Ἐπεὶ ὁ κύριος ἄξιόν με ἡγήσατο, ἵνα μετ̓ ἐμοῦ πάντοτε κατοικῇς, ὀλίγα μου ῥήματα ἔτι ἀνάσχου, ἐπεὶ οὐ συνίω οὐδὲν καὶ ἡ καρδία μου πεπώρωται ἀπὸ τῶν προτέρων μου πράξεων: συνέτισόν με, ὅτι λίαν ἄφρων εἰμὶ καὶ ὅλως οὐθὲν νοῶ

And I asked him again, saying: Since the Lord has counted me worthy that you should always dwell with me, bear with me yet a few words of mine, since I understand nothing and my heart has been hardened by my former deeds. Make me understand, for I am very foolish and comprehend nothing at all.

我又問他說：「主既看我為配得的，叫你常與我同住，求你再容我說幾句話，因為我什麼也不明白，我的心又因我從前的所行而剛硬了。求你使我明白，因為我極愚昧，全然不領悟。」

9:2.2

ἀποκριθείς μοι λέγει: Ἐγώ, φησίν, ἐπὶ τῆς μετανοίας εἰμὶ καὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς μετανοοῦσιν σύνεσιν δίδωμι. ἢ οὐ δοκεῖ σοι, φησίν, αὐτὸ τοῦτο τὸ μετανοῆσαι σύνεσιν εἶναι; τὸ μετανοῆσαι, φησίν, σύνεσίς ἐστιν μεγάλη: συνίει γὰρ ὁ ἁμαρτήσας, ὅτι πεποίηκεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ κυρίου, καὶ ἀναβαίνει ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ ἡ πρᾶξις, ἣν ἔπραξεν, καὶ μετανοεῖ καὶ οὐκέτι ἐργάζεται τὸ πονηρόν, ἀλλὰ τὸ ἀγαθὸν πολυτελῶς ἐργάζεται καὶ ταπεινοῖ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ψυχὴν καὶ βασανίζει, ὅτι ἥμαρτεν. βλέπεις οὖν, ὅτι ἡ μετάνοια σύνεσίς ἐστιν μεγάλη

Answering me he said: I am over repentance, and to all who repent I give understanding. Or does it not seem to you, he said, that this very act of repenting is itself understanding? To repent, he said, is great understanding; for the one who has sinned understands that he has done evil before the Lord, and the deed which he did comes up into his heart, and he repents and no longer works evil, but works good lavishly, and humbles his own soul and torments it, because he sinned. You see, then, that repentance is great understanding.

他回答我說：「我是管理悔改的，凡悔改的人，我都賜他悟性。難道在你看來，這悔改的本身不就是悟性嗎？悔改乃是極大的悟性；因為那犯了罪的人領悟到自己在主面前行了惡，他所行的事就浮上他的心頭，他便悔改，不再行惡，反倒慷慨地行善，又謙卑自己的靈魂、刻苦己心，因為他犯了罪。所以你看，悔改是極大的悟性。」

9:2.3

Διὰ τοῦτο οὖν, φημί, κύριε, ἐξακριβάζομαι παρὰ σοῦ πάντα: πρῶτον μέν, ὅτι ἁμαρτωλός εἰμι, ἵνα γνῶ, ποῖα ἔργα ἐργαζόμενος ζήσομαι, ὅτι πολλαί μου εἰσὶν αἱ ἁμαρτίαι καὶ ποικίλαι

For this reason, then, lord, I said, I inquire of you everything exactly: first, because I am a sinner, that I may know what works I must do to live, since my sins are many and varied.

我說：「主啊，正因如此，我才向你細細查問一切：首先，因為我是個罪人，好叫我知道該行什麼工才得存活，因為我的罪又多又雜。」

9:2.4

Ζήσῃ, φησίν, ἐὰν τὰς ἐντολάς μου φυλάξῃς καὶ πορευθῇς ἐν αὐταῖς: καὶ ὃς ἂν ἀκούσας τὰς ἐντολὰς ταύτας φυλάξῃ, ζήσεται τῷ θεῷ

You shall live, he said, if you keep my commandments and walk in them; and whoever, having heard these commandments, keeps them, shall live to God.

他說：「你必存活，只要你遵守我的誡命，行在其中；凡聽見這些誡命又遵守的人，必要向神活著。」

9:3.1

Ἔτι, φημί, κύριε, προσθήσω τοῦ ἐπερωτῆσαι. Λέγε, φησίν. Ἤκουσα, φημί, κύριε, παρά τινων διδασκάλων, ὅτι ἑτέρα μετάνοια οὐκ ἔστιν εἰ μὴ ἐκείνη, ὅτε εἰς ὕδωρ κατέβημεν καὶ ἐλάβομεν ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν ἡμῶν τῶν προτέρων

Still, lord, I said, I will add one more question. Speak, he said. I have heard, lord, I said, from certain teachers, that there is no other repentance except that one, when we went down into the water and received forgiveness of our former sins.

我說：「主啊，我還要再加一問。」他說：「你說吧。」我說：「主啊，我曾從某些教師聽見，說除了那一次悔改——就是我們下到水裡、領受了我們從前罪過之赦免的那一次——以外，再沒有別的悔改了。」

9:3.2

λέγει μοι: Καλῶς ἤκουσας: οὕτω γὰρ ἔχει. ἔδει γὰρ τὸν εἰληφότα ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν μηκέτι ἁμαρτάνειν, ἀλλ̓ ἐν ἁγνείᾳ κατοικεῖν

He said to me: You have heard rightly, for so it is. For the one who has received forgiveness of sins ought to sin no more, but to dwell in purity.

他對我說：「你聽得對，事實正是如此。因為那領受了罪赦的人，本當不再犯罪，倒要住在純潔中。」

9:3.3

ἐπεὶ δὲ πάντα ἐξακριβάζῃ, καὶ τοῦτό σοι δηλώσω, μὴ διδοὺς ἀφορμὴν τοῖς μέλλουσι πιστεύειν ἢ τοῖς νῦν πιστεύσασιν εἰς τὸν κύριον. οἱ γὰρ νῦν πιστεύσαντες ἢ μέλλοντες πιστεύειν μετάνοιαν ἁμαρτιῶν οὐκ ἔχουσιν, ἄφεσιν δὲ ἔχουσι τῶν προτέρων ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν

But since you inquire about everything exactly, I will explain this too to you, not giving occasion to those who are about to believe or to those who have now believed in the Lord. For those who have now believed or are about to believe do not have repentance of sins, but have forgiveness of their former sins.

「但你既凡事細細查問，這事我也向你解明，只是不可給那些將要相信、或如今已相信主的人開路。因為那些如今才相信、或將要相信的人沒有罪的悔改之需，只有從前罪過的赦免。」

9:3.4

τοῖς οὖν κληθεῖσι πρὸ τούτων τῶν ἡμερῶν ἔθηκεν ὁ κύριος μετάνοιαν: καρδιογνώστης γὰρ ὢν ὁ κύριος καὶ πάντα προγινώσκων ἔγνω τὴν ἀσθένειαν τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ τὴν πολυπλοκίαν τοῦ διαβόλου, ὅτι ποιήσει τι κακὸν τοῖς δούλοις τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ πονηρεύσεται εἰς αὐτούς

For those who were called before these days the Lord appointed repentance; for the Lord, being the knower of hearts and foreknowing all things, knew the weakness of men and the manifold subtlety of the devil, that he would do some harm to the servants of God and act wickedly toward them.

「至於那些在這些日子以前蒙召的人，主為他們設立了悔改；因為主既鑒察人心、預知萬事，就知道人的軟弱和魔鬼的詭詐多端，知道牠必對神的僕人作些惡事，向他們施行惡計。」

9:3.5

πολύσπλαγχνος οὖν ὢν ὁ κύριος ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπὶ τὴν ποίησιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθηκεν τὴν μετάνοιαν ταύτην, καὶ ἐμοὶ ἡ ἐξουσία τῆς μετανοίας ταύτης ἐδόθη

Being, then, full of compassion, the Lord had mercy upon his handiwork and appointed this repentance, and to me was given the authority over this repentance.

「所以主既滿有憐憫，就憐恤了他手所造的，設立了這悔改，並把這悔改的權柄賜給了我。」

9:3.6

ἀλλὰ ἐγώ σοι λέγω, φησί μετὰ τὴν κλῆσιν ἐκείνην τὴν μεγάλην καὶ σεμνὴν ἐάν τις ἐκπειρασθεὶς ὑπὸ τοῦ διαβόλου ἁμαρτήσῃ, μίαν μετάνοιαν ἔχει: ἐὰν δὲ ὑπὸ χεῖρα ἁμαρτάνῃ καὶ μετανοήσῃ, ἀσύμφορόν ἐστι τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τῷ τοιούτῳ: δυσκόλως γὰρ ζήσεται

But I tell you, he said, after that great and reverent calling, if anyone, being tempted by the devil, sins, he has one repentance; but if he sins repeatedly and repents, it is unprofitable for such a man, for he shall hardly live.

「但我告訴你，」他說，「在那偉大而莊重的呼召以後，人若被魔鬼試探而犯罪，他還有一次悔改；但他若一再犯罪又一再悔改，對這樣的人就無益了，因為他將難以存活。」

9:3.7

λέγω αὐτῷ Ἐζωοποιήθην ταῦτα παρὰ σοῦ ἀκούσας οὕτως ἀκριβῶς: οἶδα γὰρ ὅτι, ἐὰν μηκέτι προσθήσω ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις μου, σωθήσομαι. Σωθήσῃ, φησίν, καὶ πάντες, ὅσοι ἐὰν ταῦτα ποιήσωσιν

I said to him: I have been brought to life by hearing these things from you so exactly; for I know that, if I add no more to my sins, I shall be saved. You shall be saved, he said, and so shall all who do these things.

我對他說：「我這樣確切地從你聽見這些話，就得了生命；因為我知道，我若不再給我的罪加添什麼，就必得救。」他說：「你必得救，凡行這些事的人也都必得救。」

9:4.1

Ἠρώτησα αὐτὸν πάλιν λέγων: Κύριε, ἐπεὶ ἅπαξ ἀνέχῃ μου, ἔτι μοι καὶ τοῦτο δήλωσον. Λέγε, φησίν. Ἐὰν γυνή, φημί, κύριε, ἢ πάλιν ἀνήρ τις κοιμηθῇ καὶ γαμήσῃ τις ἐξ αὐτῶν, μήτι ἁμαρτάνει ὁ γαμῶν

I asked him again, saying: Lord, since you bear with me this once, explain this also to me. Speak, he said. If a wife, I said, lord, or again a husband, dies, and one of them marries, does the one who marries sin?

我又問他說：「主啊，你既這一次容讓我，求你把這事也向我解明。」他說：「你說吧。」我說：「主啊，妻子若死了，或丈夫若死了，其中一人若再婚，那再婚的人算犯罪嗎？」

9:4.2

Οὐχ ἁμαρτάνει, φησίν: ἐὰν δὲ ἐφ̓ ἑαυτῷ μείνῃ τις, περισσοτέραν ἑαυτῷ τιμὴν καὶ μεγάλην δόξαν περιποιεῖται πρὸς τὸν κύριον: ἐὰν δὲ καὶ γαμήσῃ, οὐχ ἁμαρτάνει

He does not sin, he said; but if he remains by himself, he gains for himself greater honor and great glory before the Lord; yet even if he marries, he does not sin.

他說：「不算犯罪；但他若獨身度日，就在主面前為自己得著更大的尊榮和極大的榮耀；然而他即使再婚，也不算犯罪。」

9:4.3

τήρει οὖν τὴν ἁγνείαν καὶ τὴν σεμνότητα, καὶ ζήσῃ τῷ θεῷ. ταῦτά σοι ὅσα λαλῶ καὶ μέλλω λαλεῖν, φύλασσε ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν, ἀφ̓ ἧς μοι παρεδόθης ἡμέρας, καὶ εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου κατοικήσω

Keep, then, purity and reverence, and you shall live to God. All these things which I speak to you and am about to speak, keep from now on, from the day you were handed over to me, and I will dwell in your house.

「所以你要持守貞潔和莊重，就必向神活著。我對你所說、並將要說的這一切，你都要從今以後遵守，就是從你被交付給我那一天起；我也必住在你的家中。」

9:4.4

τοῖς δὲ προτέροις σου παραπτώμασιν ἄφεσις ἔσται, ἐὰν τὰς ἐντολάς μου φυλάξῃς: καὶ πᾶσι δὲ ἄφεσις ἔσται, ἐὰν τὰς ἐντολάς μου ταύτας φυλάξωσι καὶ πορευθῶσιν ἐν τῇ ἁγνότητι ταύτῃ

And for your former transgressions there shall be forgiveness, if you keep my commandments; and for all there shall be forgiveness, if they keep these my commandments and walk in this purity.

「你從前的過犯也必得赦免，只要你遵守我的誡命；眾人也都必得赦免，只要他們遵守我這些誡命，行在這貞潔中。」
