Zechariah 9

The oracle of the word of the Lord, in the land of Sedrach and of Damascus, his sacrifice; for the Lord watches over men and all the tribes of Israel.

And Hamath also, within her borders, Tyre and Sidon too, because they were exceedingly shrewd.

And Tyre built strongholds for herself, and stored up silver like dust, and gathered gold like the mud of the streets.

Therefore the Lord will take possession of her, and will strike her power into the sea, and she herself will be consumed by fire.

Ashkelon will see and be afraid, Gaza too, and will be in great pain, and Ekron as well, because she was put to shame over her trespass. And a king will perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon will not be inhabited.

And foreigners will dwell in Ashdod, and I will tear down the arrogance of the Philistines.

And I will remove their blood from their mouth and their abominations from between their teeth; and this one too will be left for our God. And they will be like a captain of a thousand in Judah, and Ekron like the Jebusite.

And I will set up for my house a barrier, so that none may pass through or turn back; and no oppressor will come upon them any more, for now I have seen with my eyes.

Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Proclaim aloud, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king comes to you, righteous and saving; he is gentle and mounted on a beast of burden, and on a young colt.

And he will destroy chariots from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and the war bow will be destroyed; and there will be abundance and peace from the nations. And he will rule over waters as far as the sea, and over rivers, the outlets of the earth.

And you, by the blood of a covenant you sent out your prisoners from a pit that has no water.

You prisoners of the congregation will sit in a stronghold; and in return for one day of your sojourning I will repay you double.

For I have bent you, Judah, as a bow for myself; I have filled Ephraim. And I will rouse your children, Zion, against the children of the Greeks, and I will handle you like a warrior's sword.

And the Lord will be over them, and his arrow will go forth like lightning; and the Lord Almighty will sound the trumpet, and will go forth in the tumult of his threatening.

The Lord Almighty will shield them, and they will consume them and bury them with sling stones; and they will drink them down like wine, and will fill the altar as bowls.

And the Lord will save them in that day, like sheep, his people; for holy stones roll upon his land.

For if there is anything good of his, and if anything fine from him, it is grain for young men and fragrant wine for virgins.
