ℹ️ This corpus has no verse-level morphological tagging. Lemmas come mainly from word-level tagging of other books in the same language (not from this verse), falling back to dictionary form-matching for the rest. Rare homographs can still be misread; verify against the original and a specialist lexicon where precision matters.
ℹ️ The Chinese and English alongside are this site's own translation, made directly from the original text on this page (not the CUV or the WEB, which follow the Masoretic Text and a different textual tradition).
4:219
And even as from a child's mouth much spittle gushing out often defiles both food and drink,
so also the words which flow from the mouth of the Greeks are vain and unclean;
希臘人口中所流出的話語也照樣是虛妄污穢的;
4:221
and even if you give them necessary nourishment, they grieve those who provide it by continual blasphemies, and require to be carried about.
Children again, when they see a robber coming in and carrying off the things within, not only do not resist him, but even smile upon the plotter;
孩子們再者,看見強盜進來搶奪屋內之物時,不但不加抵抗,反倒向那圖謀者陪笑;
4:223
but if you take away their little basket or their rattles, or any other of their playthings, they are grievously distressed and vexed, they are convulsed and kick the ground.
So indeed do the Greeks also: when they see the devil stealing away all their patrimony and that which holds their life together, they laugh, running to him as to a friend;
希臘人實在也是如此:他們看見魔鬼偷去他們一切祖傳的家業,以及那維繫他們生命之物時,反倒發笑,如同奔向朋友一般跑向牠;
4:225
but if one take away a possession, or wealth, or any such childish thing, they lament, they are convulsed;
但若有人奪去他們的產業、財富,或任何這類孩子氣的東西,他們便哀號、抽搐;
4:226
and even as children are stripped naked without shame and do not blush, so also the Greeks, wallowing with fornicators and adulterers, and stripping bare the laws of nature, and introducing lawless unions, are not turned back.
4:227
You have applauded loudly and praised;
你們大大鼓掌,並且稱讚;
4:228
but along with the applause take earnest care that these things be not said of you also.
Wherefore I exhort you all to become men;
因此我勸你們眾人都要作大人;
4:230
for when we ourselves are children, how shall we teach those to be men? how shall we restrain them from childish folly? Let us therefore become men, that we may attain unto the measure of the stature appointed by Christ, and may obtain the good things to come, by grace and lovingkindness, and so forth.
