20:1
לֵ֣ץ הַ֭יַּיִן הֹמֶ֣ה שֵׁכָ֑ר וְכׇל־שֹׁ֥גֶה בּ֝֗וֹ לֹ֣א יֶחְכָּֽם׃
Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
酒能使人褻慢，濃酒使人喧嚷； 凡因酒錯誤的，就無智慧。
20:2
נַ֣הַם כַּ֭כְּפִיר אֵ֣ימַת מֶ֑לֶךְ מִ֝תְעַבְּר֗וֹ חוֹטֵ֥א נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃
The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
王的威嚇如同獅子吼叫； 惹動他怒的，是自害己命。
20:3
כָּב֣וֹד לָ֭אִישׁ שֶׁ֣בֶת מֵרִ֑יב וְכׇל־אֱ֝וִ֗יל יִתְגַּלָּֽע׃
It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.
遠離紛爭是人的尊榮； 愚妄人都愛爭鬧。
20:4
מֵ֭חֹרֶף עָצֵ֣ל לֹא־יַחֲרֹ֑שׁ (ישאל) [וְשָׁאַ֖ל] בַּקָּצִ֣יר וָאָֽיִן׃
The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
懶惰人因冬寒不肯耕種， 到收割的時候，他必討飯而無所得。
20:5
מַ֣יִם עֲ֭מֻקִּים עֵצָ֣ה בְלֶב־אִ֑ישׁ וְאִ֖ישׁ תְּבוּנָ֣ה יִדְלֶֽנָּה׃
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.
人心懷藏謀略，好像深水， 惟明哲人才能汲引出來。
20:6
רׇב־אָדָ֗ם יִ֭קְרָא אִ֣ישׁ חַסְדּ֑וֹ וְאִ֥ישׁ אֱ֝מוּנִ֗ים מִ֣י יִמְצָֽא׃
Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful man?
人多述說自己的仁慈， 但忠信人誰能遇着呢？
20:7
מִתְהַלֵּ֣ךְ בְּתֻמּ֣וֹ צַדִּ֑יק אַשְׁרֵ֖י בָנָ֣יו אַחֲרָֽיו׃
A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.
行為純正的義人， 他的子孫是有福的！
20:8
מֶ֗לֶךְ יוֹשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסֵּא־דִ֑ין מְזָרֶ֖ה בְעֵינָ֣יו כׇּל־רָֽע׃
A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.
王坐在審判的位上， 以眼目驅散諸惡。
20:9
מִֽי־יֹ֭אמַר זִכִּ֣יתִי לִבִּ֑י טָ֝הַ֗רְתִּי מֵחַטָּאתִֽי׃
Who can say, “I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin”?
誰能說，我潔淨了我的心， 我脫淨了我的罪？
20:10
אֶ֣בֶן וָ֭אֶבֶן אֵיפָ֣ה וְאֵיפָ֑ה תּוֹעֲבַ֥ת יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה גַּם־שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃
Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.
兩樣的法碼，兩樣的升斗， 都為耶和華所憎惡。
20:11
גַּ֣ם בְּ֭מַעֲלָלָיו יִתְנַכֶּר־נָ֑עַר אִם־זַ֖ךְ וְאִם־יָשָׁ֣ר פׇּעֳלֽוֹ׃
Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
孩童的動作是清潔，是正直， 都顯明他的本性。
20:12
אֹ֣זֶן שֹׁ֭מַעַת וְעַ֣יִן רֹאָ֑ה יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה עָשָׂ֥ה גַם־שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, Yahweh has made even both of them.
能聽的耳，能看的眼， 都是耶和華所造的。
20:13
אַל־תֶּאֱהַ֣ב שֵׁ֭נָה פֶּן־תִּוָּרֵ֑שׁ פְּקַ֖ח עֵינֶ֣יךָ שְֽׂבַֽע־לָֽחֶם׃
Don’t love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
不要貪睡，免致貧窮； 眼要睜開，你就吃飽。
20:14
רַ֣ע רַ֭ע יֹאמַ֣ר הַקּוֹנֶ֑ה וְאֹזֵ֥ל ל֝֗וֹ אָ֣ז יִתְהַלָּֽל׃
“It’s no good, it’s no good,” says the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
買物的說：不好，不好； 及至買去，他便自誇。
20:15
יֵ֣שׁ זָ֭הָב וְרׇב־פְּנִינִ֑ים וּכְלִ֥י יְ֝קָ֗ר שִׂפְתֵי־דָֽעַת׃
There is gold and abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
有金子和許多珍珠 ， 惟有知識的嘴乃為貴重的珍寶。
20:16
לְֽקַח־בִּ֭גְדוֹ כִּי־עָ֣רַב זָ֑ר וּבְעַ֖ד (נכרים) [נׇכְרִיָּ֣ה] חַבְלֵֽהוּ׃
Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
誰為生人作保，就拿誰的衣服； 誰為外人作保，誰就要承當。
20:17
עָרֵ֣ב לָ֭אִישׁ לֶ֣חֶם שָׁ֑קֶר וְ֝אַחַ֗ר יִמָּֽלֵא־פִ֥יהוּ חָצָֽץ׃
Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
以虛謊而得的食物，人覺甘甜； 但後來，他的口必充滿塵沙。
20:18
מַ֭חֲשָׁבוֹת בְּעֵצָ֣ה תִכּ֑וֹן וּ֝בְתַחְבֻּל֗וֹת עֲשֵׂ֣ה מִלְחָמָֽה׃
Plans are established by advice; by wise guidance you wage war!
計謀都憑籌算立定； 打仗要憑智謀。
20:19
גּֽוֹלֶה־סּ֭וֹד הוֹלֵ֣ךְ רָכִ֑יל וּלְפֹתֶ֥ה שְׂ֝פָתָ֗יו לֹ֣א תִתְעָרָֽב׃
He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore don’t keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
往來傳舌的，洩漏密事； 大張嘴的，不可與他結交。
20:20
מְ֭קַלֵּל אָבִ֣יו וְאִמּ֑וֹ יִֽדְעַ֥ךְ נֵ֝ר֗וֹ (באישון) [בֶּאֱשׁ֥וּן] חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃
Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
咒罵父母的，他的燈必滅， 變為漆黑的黑暗。
20:21
נַ֭חֲלָה (מבחלת) [מְבֹהֶ֣לֶת] בָּרִאשׁוֹנָ֑ה וְ֝אַחֲרִיתָ֗הּ לֹ֣א תְבֹרָֽךְ׃
An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning won’t be blessed in the end.
起初速得的產業， 終久卻不為福。
20:22
אַל־תֹּאמַ֥ר אֲשַׁלְּמָה־רָ֑ע קַוֵּ֥ה לַ֝יהֹוָ֗ה וְיֹ֣שַֽׁע לָֽךְ׃
Don’t say, “I will pay back evil.” Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you.
你不要說，我要以惡報惡； 要等候耶和華，他必拯救你。
20:23
תּוֹעֲבַ֣ת יְ֭הֹוָה אֶ֣בֶן וָאָ֑בֶן וּמֹאזְנֵ֖י מִרְמָ֣ה לֹא־טֽוֹב׃
Yahweh detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.
兩樣的法碼為耶和華所憎惡； 詭詐的天平也為不善。
20:24
מֵיְהֹוָ֥ה מִצְעֲדֵי־גָ֑בֶר וְ֝אָדָ֗ם מַה־יָּבִ֥ין דַּרְכּֽוֹ׃
A man’s steps are from Yahweh; how then can man understand his way?
人的腳步為耶和華所定； 人豈能明白自己的路呢？
20:25
מוֹקֵ֣שׁ אָ֭דָם יָ֣לַע קֹ֑דֶשׁ וְאַחַ֖ר נְדָרִ֣ים לְבַקֵּֽר׃
It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.
人冒失說，這是聖物， 許願之後才查問，就是自陷網羅。
20:26
מְזָרֶ֣ה רְ֭שָׁעִים מֶ֣לֶךְ חָכָ֑ם וַיָּ֖שֶׁב עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם אוֹפָֽן׃
A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them.
智慧的王簸散惡人， 用碌碡滾軋他們。
20:27
נֵ֣ר יְ֭הֹוָה נִשְׁמַ֣ת אָדָ֑ם חֹ֝פֵ֗שׂ כׇּל־חַדְרֵי־בָֽטֶן׃
The spirit of man is Yahweh’s lamp, searching all his innermost parts.
人的靈是耶和華的燈， 鑒察人的心腹。
20:28
חֶ֣סֶד וֶ֭אֱמֶת יִצְּרוּ־מֶ֑לֶךְ וְסָעַ֖ד בַּחֶ֣סֶד כִּסְאֽוֹ׃
Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.
王因仁慈和誠實得以保全他的國位， 也因仁慈立穩。
20:29
תִּפְאֶ֣רֶת בַּחוּרִ֣ים כֹּחָ֑ם וַהֲדַ֖ר זְקֵנִ֣ים שֵׂיבָֽה׃
The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
強壯乃少年人的榮耀； 白髮為老年人的尊榮。
20:30
חַבֻּר֣וֹת פֶּ֭צַע (תמריק) [תַּמְר֣וּק] בְּרָ֑ע וּ֝מַכּ֗וֹת חַדְרֵי־בָֽטֶן׃
Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts.
鞭傷除淨人的罪惡； 責打能入人的心腹。
