16:1
ፈሪሀ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አእምሮ፡ ሠናይ፡ ወጥበብ፡ ቀዳሚት፡ ክብርት፡ ይእቲ፡ ለዘያወሥኣ፡ ላቲ፡ ወትተልዎሙ፡ ለየዋሃን፡ ክብር።
心中的謀算在乎人； 舌頭的應對由於耶和華。
The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from Yahweh.
16:2
ኵሉ፡ ምግባሩ፡ ለትሑት፡ ሥሙር፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወረሲዓንሰ፡ ይትኀጐሉ፡ በዕለት፡ እኪት።
人一切所行的，在自己眼中看為清潔； 惟有耶和華衡量人心。
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the motives.
16:3
ርኩስ፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዕቡየ፡ ልብ፡ እደ፡ በእድ፡ ዘይእኅዝ፡ በዓመፃ፡ ኢይነጽሕ።
你所做的，要交託耶和華， 你所謀的，就必成立。
Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed.
16:4
ቀዳሚት፡ ፍኖት፡ ኄርት፡ ገቢረ፡ ጽድቅ፡ ሥሙር፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ጥቀ፡ እምዘቢሐ፡ መሥዋዕት።
耶和華所造的，各適其用； 就是惡人也為禍患的日子所造。
Yahweh has made everything for its own end— yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
16:5
ዘየኃሥሦ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ይረክብ፡ አእምሮ፡ በጽድቅ።
凡心裏驕傲的，為耶和華所憎惡； 雖然連手，他必不免受罰。
Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to Yahweh; they shall certainly not be unpunished.
16:6
ወእለሰ፡ ርትዐ፡ የኃሥሡ፡ ይረክቡ፡ ሰላመ።
因憐憫誠實，罪孽得贖； 敬畏耶和華的，遠離惡事。
By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for. By the fear of Yahweh men depart from evil.
16:7
ኵሉ፡ ምግባሩ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር፡ ዘምስለ፡ ጽድቅ።
人所行的，若蒙耶和華喜悅， 耶和華也使他的仇敵與他和好。
When a man’s ways please Yahweh, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
16:8
ይትዓቀብ፡ ረሲዕ፡ ለዕለት፡ እኪት።
多有財利，行事不義， 不如少有財利，行事公義。
Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues with injustice.
16:9
ሰገል፡ ውስተ፡ አፈ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወበፍትሕ፡ ኢይጌጊ፡ አፉሁ።
人心籌算自己的道路； 惟耶和華指引他的腳步。
A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps.
16:10
ከመ፡ ለጽሊጸ፡ ልሳነ፡ መዳልው፡ ፍትሕ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወምግባሩሂ፡ አእባነ፡ ቊናማት።
王的嘴中有神語， 審判之時，他的口必不差錯。
Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king. He shall not betray his mouth.
16:11
ምኑን፡ በኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ መዳልወ፡ ዓመፃ፡ ወምኑን፡ በኀበ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ዘይገብር፡ እኩየ፡ ወምስለ፡ ጽድቅ፡ ይነብር፡ መንበረ፡ ምኵናን።
公道的天平和秤都屬耶和華； 囊中一切法碼都為他所定。
Honest balances and scales are Yahweh’s; all the weights in the bag are his work.
16:12
ሥሙር፡ በኀበ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ከናፍረ፡ ጽድቅ፡ ወነገረ፡ ርቱዐ፡ ያፈቅር፡ እግዚአብሔር።
作惡，為王所憎惡， 因國位是靠公義堅立。
It is an abomination for kings to do wrong, for the throne is established by righteousness.
16:13
መዓተ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ከመ፡ መልአከ፡ ሞት፡ ወብእሲሰ፡ ጠቢብ፡ ይዬውሆ።
公義的嘴為王所喜悅； 說正直話的，為王所喜愛。
Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They value one who speaks the truth.
16:14
ከመ፡ ብርሃነ፡ ፀሐይ፡ ገጸ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወበእለ፡ ኢያሠምርዎሰ፡ ከመ፡ ደመና፡ ምሴት።
王的震怒如殺人的使者； 但智慧人能止息王怒。
The king’s wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it.
16:15
አጥርዮታ፡ ለጥበብ፡ ይትበደር፡ እምወርቅ፡ ወአጥርዮታ፡ ለአእምሮ፡ ይኄይስ፡ እምብሩር።
王的臉光使人有生命； 王的恩典好像春雲時雨。
In the light of the king’s face is life. His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.
16:16
ፍናወ፡ ሕይወት፡ ያግኅሣ፡ እምእኩይ፡ ወኑኀ፡ መዋዕል፡ ፍናወ፡ ጽድቅ።
得智慧勝似得金子； 選聰明強如選銀子。
How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
16:17
ዘይትዌከፍ፡ ትምህርተ፡ ውስተ፡ ሠናይ፡ ይሄሉ፡ ወዘየዓቅብሂ፡ ተግሣፀ፡ ይጠበብ።
正直人的道是遠離惡事； 謹守己路的，是保全性命。
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
16:18
ፍናዊሁ፡ ይትመኃፀና፡ ለነፍሱ፡ ወዘያፈቅር፡ ሕይወቶ፡ ይዕቀብ፡ አፉሁ።
驕傲在敗壞以先； 狂心在跌倒之前。
Pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall.
16:19
እምቅድመ፡ ባእስ፡ ይቀድም፡ ጽኢል፡ ወእምቅድመ፡ ድቀት፡ አእምሮ፡ እኩይ።
心裏謙卑與窮乏人來往， 強如將擄物與驕傲人同分。
It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the plunder with the proud.
16:20
ይኄይስ፡ ዓራቄ፡ መዓት፡ ዘበአትሕቶ፡ እምዘይትካፈል፡ በርበረ፡ ምስለ፡ ጸአልያን።
謹守訓言的，必得好處； 倚靠耶和華的，便為有福。
He who heeds the Word finds prosperity. Whoever trusts in Yahweh is blessed.
16:21
ማእምር፡ ዘበምግባሩ፡ ረካቢሆን፡ ለኄራት፡ ወዘይትዌከልሰ፡ ብእግዚአብሔር፡ ብፁዕ።
心中有智慧，必稱為通達人； 嘴中的甜言，加增人的學問。
The wise in heart shall be called prudent. Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.
16:22
ለጠቢብ፡ ማእምረ፡ ይሰምይዎ፡ ወለጥዑመ፡ ቃል፡ ፈድፋደ፡ ይጼውዕዎ።
人有智慧就有生命的泉源； 愚昧人必被愚昧懲治。
Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, but the punishment of fools is their folly.
16:23
ነቅዐ፡ ሕይወት፡ ሕሊና፡ ሠናይት፡ ለእለ፡ አጥረይዋ፡ ወትምህርተ፡ ዐብዳንሰ፡ እኪት።
智慧人的心教訓他的口， 又使他的嘴增長學問。
The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
16:24
ልበ፡ ጠቢብ፡ ይትአመር፡ እምአፉሁ፡ ወውስተ፡ ከናፍሪሁ፡ ይለብስ፡ ተዓውቆ።
良言如同蜂房， 使心覺甘甜，使骨得醫治。
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
16:25
ጸቃውዓ፡ መዓር፡ ነገር፡ ሠናይ፡ ወመዓርዒሮን፡ ፈውሰ፡ ነፍሶ።
有一條路，人以為正， 至終成為死亡之路。
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
16:26
ቦ፡ ፍናው፡ ዘይመስላሁ፡ ለብእሲ፡ ርቱዓተ፡ ወጽንፎንኒ፡ ይኔጽራ፡ ማዕምቅተ፡ ሲኦል።
勞力人的胃口使他勞力， 因為他的口腹催逼他。
The appetite of the laboring man labors for him, for his mouth urges him on.
16:27
ብእሲ፡ በኅማሙ፡ የሐምም፡ ለርእሱ፡ ወይትኄየል፡ በርእሱ፡ ኃጒል፡ ወባሕቱ፡ ጠዋይ፡ ውስተ፡ አፉሁ፡ ይለብስ፡ ኀጒለ።
匪徒圖謀奸惡， 嘴上彷彿有燒焦的火。
A worthless man devises mischief. His speech is like a scorching fire.
16:28
ብእሲ፡ ዓብድ፡ ይከሪ፡ ለርእሱ፡ እከየ፡ ወውስተ፡ ከናፍሪሁ፡ ይዘግብ፡ እሳተ።
乖僻人播散紛爭； 傳舌的，離間密友。
A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends.
16:29
ብእሲ፡ ጠዋይ፡ ይልእክ፡ እከየ፡ ወማኅቶተ፡ ሐብል፡ ታውዕዮሙ፡ ለእኩያን፡ ወትሌሊ፡ አዕርክተ።
強暴人誘惑鄰舍， 領他走不善之道。
A man of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.
16:30
ብእሲ፡ እኩይ፡ የሐብል፡ አዕርክተ፡ ወይወስዶሙ፡ ፍናወ፡ እለ፡ ኢኮና፡ ኄራተ።
眼目緊合的，圖謀乖僻； 嘴唇緊閉的，成就邪惡。
One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.
16:31
ዘያወትር፡ በአዕይንቲሁ፡ ይሔሊ፡ ጠዋየ፡ ወዘያቤይድ፡ በከናፍሪሁ፡ ኵሎ፡ እኩየ፡ ዘእቶነ፡ እከይ፡ ውእቱ።
白髮是榮耀的冠冕， 在公義的道上必能得着。
Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is attained by a life of righteousness.
16:32
አክሊለ፡ ምክሕ፡ ርሥዕ፡ ሠናይ፡ ወውስተ፡ ፍናወ፡ ጽድቅ፡ ይትረከብ።
不輕易發怒的，勝過勇士； 治服己心的，強如取城。
One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
16:33
ይኄይሰ፡ ብእሲ፡ ዕጉሥ፡ እምኃያል፡ ወብእሲ፡ ዘጥበብ፡ ቦቱ፡ እምወፍር፡ ዓቢይ።
籤放在懷裏， 定事由耶和華。
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from Yahweh.
16:34
ዘይሤለጥ፡ በመንፈሱ፡ እምዘይመልክ፡ ሀገረ፡ ወዘይትዔገሥ፡ መዓተ፡ ይኄይስ፡ እምዘ፡ ያስተጋብእ፡ ሀገረ።
籤放在懷裏， 定事由耶和華。
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from Yahweh.
16:35
ለብእሲ፡ ዓማፂ፡ ውስተ፡ ኅፅኑ፡ ይገብእ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዓመፃሁ፡ ወእምኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ኵሉ፡ ጻድቅ።
籤放在懷裏， 定事由耶和華。
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from Yahweh.
