18:1
ምክንያተ፡ የኃሥሥ፡ ብእሲ፡ ዘይፈቅድ፡ ይትፈለጥ፡ እምአዕርክቲሁ፡ ወበኵሉ፡ ጊዜ፡ ዝንጓጔ፡ ይከውን።
與眾寡合的，獨自尋求心願， 並惱恨一切真智慧。
A man who isolates himself pursues selfishness, and defies all sound judgment.
18:2
ኢይፈቅድ፡ ጥበበ፡ ነዳየ፡ አእምሮ፡ ወባሕቱ፡ ይመልኮ፡ ዕበድ።
愚昧人不喜愛明哲， 只喜愛顯露心意。
A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion.
18:3
ሶበ፡ መጽአ፡ ረሲዕ፡ ውስተ፡ ዕመቀ፡ እከያት፡ ይትኄየይ፡ ወያመጽእ፡ ኃሣረ፡ ወዝንጓጔ።
惡人來，藐視隨來； 羞恥到，辱罵同到。
When wickedness comes, contempt also comes, and with shame comes disgrace.
18:4
ማይ፡ ዕሙቅ፡ ውስተ፡ ልበ፡ ብእሲ፡ ጠቢብ፡ ወፈለግ፡ ዘይፈለፍል፡ ነቅዐ፡ ሕይወት።
人口中的言語如同深水； 智慧的泉源好像湧流的河水。
The words of a man’s mouth are like deep waters. The fountain of wisdom is like a flowing brook.
18:5
አንክሮ፡ ገጸ፡ ረሲዓን፡ አኮ፡ ሠናይ፡ ወአኮ፡ አዳም፡ አግኅሦ፡ ጽድቅ፡ በፍትሕ።
瞻徇惡人的情面， 偏斷義人的案件，都為不善。
To be partial to the faces of the wicked is not good, nor to deprive the innocent of justice.
18:6
ከናፍሪሁ፡ ለዐብድ፡ ያበጽሖ፡ ውስተ፡ እከይ፡ ወአፉሁ፡ ለጒጒዕ፡ ይጼውዕ፡ ሞተ፡ ለርእሱ።
愚昧人張嘴啟爭端， 開口招鞭打。
A fool’s lips come into strife, and his mouth invites beatings.
18:7
አፉሁ፡ ለዐብድ፡ ቅጥቃጤሁ፡ ወከናፍሪሁ፡ መሥገርተ፡ ነፍሱ።
愚昧人的口自取敗壞； 他的嘴是他生命的網羅。
A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are a snare to his soul.
18:8
ሀካይያን፡ ያበዝኁ፡ ፍርሃተ፡ ወመንፈሰ፡ ሰብእሰ፡ ፅኑሳን፡ ይርኅብ።
傳舌人的言語如同美食， 深入人的心腹。
The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: they go down into a person’s innermost parts.
18:9
ዘኢይፌውስ፡ ርእሶ፡ በምግባሪሁ፡ እኁሁ፡ ውእቱ፡ ለዘርእሶ፡ ይበልዕ።
做工懈怠的， 與浪費人為弟兄。
One who is slack in his work is brother to him who is a master of destruction.
18:10
ዓቢይ፡ ኃይል፡ ስመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወኪያሁ፡ በዴግኖ፡ ጻድቃን፡ ይትሌዓሉ።
耶和華的名是堅固臺； 義人奔入便得安穩。
Yahweh’s name is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.
18:11
ጥሪቱ፡ ለብእሲ፡ ባዕል፡ ሀገር፡ ጽንዕት፡ ወበክብራ፡ ዓቢየ፡ ትጼልል።
富足人的財物是他的堅城， 在他心想，猶如高牆。
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, like an unscalable wall in his own imagination.
18:12
ዘእንበለ፡ ቅጥቃጤ፡ ይትዔበይ፡ ልበ፡ ብእሲ፡ ወዘእንበለ፡ ክብር፡ ይቴሐት።
敗壞之先，人心驕傲； 尊榮以前，必有謙卑。
Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility.
18:13
ዘይነብብ፡ ቃለ፡ ዘእንበለ፡ ይስማዕ፡ ዐብድ፡ ውእቱ፡ ወሎቱ፡ ይደሉ፡ ምናኔ።
未曾聽完先回答的， 便是他的愚昧和羞辱。
He who answers before he hears, that is folly and shame to him.
18:14
መዓተ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ያኃሥዕ፡ ገብር፡ ጠቢብ፡ ለሕፁፀ፡ ነፍስሰ፡ ብእሲ፡ መኑ፡ ይክሎ።
人有疾病，心能忍耐； 心靈憂傷，誰能承當呢？
A man’s spirit will sustain him in sickness, but a crushed spirit, who can bear?
18:15
ልበ፡ ብእሲ፡ ጠቢብ፡ ያጠሪ፡ አእምሮ፡ ወዕዝነ፡ ጠቢባን፡ የኃሥሥ፡ ቃለ፡ ተግሣፅ።
聰明人的心得知識； 智慧人的耳求知識。
The heart of the discerning gets knowledge. The ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
18:16
ሀብት፡ ብእሴ፡ ያሌዕል፡ ወምስለ፡ መኳንንት፡ ያነብሮ።
人的禮物為他開路， 引他到高位的人面前。
A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.
18:17
ጻድቅ፡ መስተዋድየ፡ ርእሱ፡ እምቅድመ፡ ነገር፡ ወበዘአምጽአ፡ እድው፡ ይዘልፍ።
先訴情由的，似乎有理； 但鄰舍來到，就察出實情。
He who pleads his cause first seems right— until another comes and questions him.
18:18
ጋእዝ፡ ያኅድግ፡ ዕፃ፡ ወማእከለ፡ ፅኑዓን፡ ይፈልጥ።
掣籤能止息爭競， 也能解散強勝的人。
The lot settles disputes, and keeps strong ones apart.
18:19
ወካሕደ፡ ያኀድግ፡ አርማሚ፡ ወበኀበ፡ መኳንንት፡ ይሠርዕ።
弟兄結怨，勸他和好，比取堅固城還難； 這樣的爭競如同堅寨的門閂。
A brother offended is more difficult than a fortified city. Disputes are like the bars of a fortress.
18:20
እኁ፡ ምስለ፡ እኁ፡ ዘይትራዳእ፡ ከመ፡ ሀገር፡ ጽንዕት፡ ወልዕልት፡ ወጽኑዕ፡ ከመ፡ መሠረት፡ ሡርርት።
人口中所結的果子，必充滿肚腹； 他嘴所出的，必使他飽足。
A man’s stomach is filled with the fruit of his mouth. With the harvest of his lips he is satisfied.
18:21
እምፍሬ፡ አፉሁ፡ ይመልእ፡ ብእሲ፡ ከረሦ፡ ወእምፍሬ፡ ከናፍሪሁ፡ ይጸግብ።
生死在舌頭的權下， 喜愛它的，必吃它所結的果子。
Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.
18:22
ሞት፡ ወሕይወት፡ ውስተ፡ እደ፡ ልሳን፡ ወእለሰ፡ ያጸንዕዋ፡ ይበልዑ፡ ፍሬሃ።
得着賢妻的，是得着好處， 也是蒙了耶和華的恩惠。
Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh.
18:23
ዘረከበ፡ ብእሲተ፡ ኄርተ፡ ረከበ፡ ሞገሰ፡ ወነሥአ፡ እምኀበ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ውኅዋኄ።
貧窮人說哀求的話； 富足人用威嚇的話回答。
The poor plead for mercy, but the rich answer harshly.
18:24
ዘያወፅአ፡ ብእሲተ፡ ኄርተ፡ አውፅአ፡ ሠናያተ፡ ወዘያነብርሰ፡ ብእሲተ፡ ዘማዊተ፡ ዐብድ፡ ወረሲዕ፡ ውእቱ።
濫交朋友的，自取敗壞； 但有一朋友比弟兄更親密。
A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
