My child, flee from every evil thing, and from everything resembling it.

3:2
Do not become angry, for anger leads to murder; nor jealous, nor quarrelsome, nor hot-tempered; for from all these murders are begotten.

3:3
My child, do not become lustful, for lust leads to fornication; nor foul-mouthed, nor lewd of eye; for from all these adulteries are begotten.

3:4
My child, do not be an observer of omens, since it leads to idolatry; nor an enchanter, nor an astrologer, nor a purifier, nor be willing to look at these things; for from all these idolatry is begotten.
My child, do not be a liar, since lying leads to theft; nor a lover of money, nor vainglorious; for from all these thefts are begotten.
My child, do not be a grumbler, since it leads to blasphemy; nor self-willed, nor evil-minded; for from all these blasphemies are begotten.

3:7
But be meek, since the meek shall inherit the earth.
Be long-suffering and merciful and guileless and quiet and good, and always trembling at the words which you have heard.
You shall not exalt yourself, nor give boldness to your soul. Your soul shall not be joined with the lofty, but you shall dwell with the righteous and the humble.
You shall accept the things that happen to you as good, knowing that nothing comes to pass apart from God.
