14:1
Sapiens mulier aedificat domum suam ; insipiens exstructam quoque manibus destruet.
Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
智慧婦人建立家室； 愚妄婦人親手拆毀。
14:2
Ambulans recto itinere, et timens Deum, despicitur ab eo qui infami graditur via.
He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.
行動正直的，敬畏耶和華； 行事乖僻的，卻藐視他。
14:3
In ore stulti virga superbiae ; labia autem sapientium custodiunt eos.
The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
愚妄人口中驕傲，如杖責打己身； 智慧人的嘴必保守自己。
14:4
Ubi non sunt boves, praesepe vacuum est ; ubi autem plurimae segetes, ibi manifesta est fortitudo bovis.
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
家裏無牛，槽頭乾淨； 土產加多乃憑牛力。
14:5
Testis fidelis non mentitur ; profert autem mendacium dolosus testis.
A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.
誠實見證人不說謊話； 假見證人吐出謊言。
14:6
Quaerit derisor sapientiam, et non invenit ; doctrina prudentium facilis.
A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.
褻慢人尋智慧，卻尋不着； 聰明人易得知識。
14:7
Vade contra virum stultum, et nescit labia prudentiae.
Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.
到愚昧人面前， 不見他嘴中有知識。
14:8
Sapientia callidi est intelligere viam suam, et imprudentia stultorum errans.
The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
通達人的智慧在乎明白己道； 愚昧人的愚妄乃是詭詐 。
14:9
Stultus illudet peccatum, et inter justos morabitur gratia.
Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.
愚妄人犯罪，以為戲耍 ； 正直人互相喜悅。
14:10
Cor quod novit amaritudinem animae suae, in gaudio ejus non miscebitur extraneus.
The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.
心中的苦楚，自己知道； 心裏的喜樂，外人無干。
14:11
Domus impiorum delebitur : tabernacula vero justorum germinabunt.
The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
奸惡人的房屋必傾倒； 正直人的帳棚必興盛。
14:12
Est via quae videtur homini justa, novissima autem ejus deducunt ad mortem.
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
有一條路，人以為正， 至終成為死亡之路。
14:13
Risus dolore miscebitur, et extrema gaudii luctus occupat.
Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.
人在喜笑中，心也憂愁； 快樂至極就生愁苦。
14:14
Viis suis replebitur stultus, et super eum erit vir bonus.
The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.
心中背道的，必滿得自己的結果； 善人必從自己的行為得以知足。
14:15
Innocens credit omni verbo ; astutus considerat gressus suos. Filio doloso nihil erit boni ; servo autem sapienti prosperi erunt actus, et dirigetur via ejus.
A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.
愚蒙人是話都信； 通達人步步謹慎。
14:16
Sapiens timet, et declinat a malo ; stultus transilit, et confidit.
A wise man fears and shuns evil, but the fool is hot headed and reckless.
智慧人懼怕，就遠離惡事； 愚妄人卻狂傲自恃。
14:17
Impatiens operabitur stultitiam, et vir versutus odiosus est.
He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.
輕易發怒的，行事愚妄； 設立詭計的，被人恨惡。
14:18
Possidebunt parvuli stultitiam, et exspectabunt astuti scientiam.
The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
愚蒙人得愚昧為產業； 通達人得知識為冠冕。
14:19
Jacebunt mali ante bonos, et impii ante portas justorum.
The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
壞人俯伏在善人面前； 惡人俯伏在義人門口。
14:20
Etiam proximo suo pauper odiosus erit : amici vero divitum multi.
The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, but the rich person has many friends.
貧窮人連鄰舍也恨他； 富足人朋友最多。
14:21
Qui despicit proximum suum peccat ; qui autem miseretur pauperis beatus erit. Qui credit in Domino misericordiam diligit.
He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has pity on the poor is blessed.
藐視鄰舍的，這人有罪； 憐憫貧窮的，這人有福。
14:22
Errant qui operantur malum ; misericordia et veritas praeparant bona.
Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
謀惡的，豈非走入迷途嗎？ 謀善的，必得慈愛和誠實。
14:23
In omni opere erit abundantia ; ubi autem verba sunt plurima, ibi frequenter egestas.
In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
諸般勤勞都有益處； 嘴上多言乃致窮乏。
14:24
Corona sapientium divitiae eorum ; fatuitas stultorum imprudentia.
The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
智慧人的財為自己的冠冕； 愚妄人的愚昧終是愚昧。
14:25
Liberat animas testis fidelis, et profert mendacia versipellis.
A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.
作真見證的，救人性命； 吐出謊言的，施行詭詐。
14:26
In timore Domini fiducia fortitudinis, et filiis ejus erit spes.
In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
敬畏耶和華的，大有倚靠； 他的兒女也有避難所。
14:27
Timor Domini fons vitae, ut declinent a ruina mortis.
The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.
敬畏耶和華就是生命的泉源， 可以使人離開死亡的網羅。
14:28
In multitudine populi dignitas regis, et in paucitate plebis ignominia principis.
In the multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
帝王榮耀在乎民多； 君王衰敗在乎民少。
14:29
Qui patiens est multa gubernatur prudentia ; qui autem impatiens est exaltat stultitiam suam.
He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.
不輕易發怒的，大有聰明； 性情暴躁的，大顯愚妄。
14:30
Vita carnium sanitas cordis ; putredo ossium invidia.
The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.
心中安靜是肉體的生命； 嫉妒是骨中的朽爛。
14:31
Qui calumniatur egentem exprobrat factori ejus ; honorat autem eum qui miseretur pauperis.
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.
欺壓貧寒的，是辱沒造他的主； 憐憫窮乏的，乃是尊敬主。
14:32
In malitia sua expelletur impius : sperat autem justus in morte sua.
The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.
惡人在所行的惡上必被推倒； 義人臨死，有所投靠。
14:33
In corde prudentis requiescit sapientia, et indoctos quosque erudiet.
Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.
智慧存在聰明人心中； 愚昧人心裏所存的，顯而易見。
14:34
Justitia elevat gentem ; miseros autem facit populos peccatum.
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
公義使邦國高舉； 罪惡是人民的羞辱。
14:35
Acceptus est regi minister intelligens ; iracundiam ejus inutilis sustinebit.
The king’s favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is toward one who causes shame.
智慧的臣子蒙王恩惠； 貽羞的僕人遭其震怒。
